Background:

”The First mate hadn’t oughta said that.” Kragor thought to himself, slamming back his fourth beer of the night. ”Still, he wont be saying too much more, at least not until his jaw heals” that thought brings a smile to his face. ”Striking a superior officer is usually an offense punishable by the lash but the Captain of the Ivory Albatross was a sniveling coward of a man who was afraid to anger Kurgan Bloodskull by striping one of his many byblows., as if HE’d care.”

And so it was that Kragor found himself drowning his sorrows in a dockside tavern called the Formidably Maid in Port Peril after having been cashiered off his last ship.

Kragor had been born on a storm lashed night aboard the Longtooth, a ship captained by his father Kurgan Bloodskull. His mother, one of the captain's many women lay on the blood soaked bed following Kragor's difficult delivery as Kurgan informed her that she and the boy were to be dropped off at the next port of call. True to his word they were deposited on the docks of Port Peril with enough gold and silver to take care of them.

Young Kragor grew up with his mother's tales of his father and he would often haunt the docks wondering if the next ship over the horizon would be his, coming to clam his son but such never came to pass and Kragor's wonder turned to bitterness. It was such that at the age of thirteen Kragor jumped on a ship and began to search for his father and force him to recognize him. It was five long years before the two would finally meet. At an unnamed tavern in an unnamed town Kragor met up with his father, playing cards.

Standing at the table Kragor prepared to confront the man he knew as his father, from the many descriptions his mother had given him, but before he could utter a word the pirate flipped the table over and launched out of his seat, dagger drawn. The two collapsed to the floor and in a long drawn out fight that eventually spilled out into the street Kurgan kneeled on Kragor's chest, his dagger raised when the old man let out a laugh and stood up, holding his hand out to help Kragor out of the muddy street. Proclaiming to all around that his man was his son Kurgan put his arm around Kragor and privately whispered to him that he should not seek him out again or that he would kill him. The next day the Longtooth was gone.

From that day Kragor has made his life upon the sea engaging in all sorts of maritime activity some legal, most not, where he has gained a reputation as a fierce fighter and an able seaman until his latest misadventure where the First Mate of his latest ship made a comment about his parentage which caused Kragor to lash out, breaking the man's jaw. The Captain, unwilling to give Kragor the lash unless the rumors of his father turn out to be true, dropped him off in Port Peril where his career had begun so many years ago.
