Backstory for Rogue:
The middle child of a wealthy merchant, Esmarelda never felt at home on land. In her early years she would lock herself in her father's study when he was away and read the many books he collected on his travel. The ones she loved most where the tales of the open sea, feared captains, and long loving nights. Finally books where not enough, before her father left one month Esmarelda begged to go with him! She wanted to see the oceans and experience the life it had to offer, even if she was only ten. But her mother forbid it, life on a ship was no place for her daughter.
Angry with her mother, Esmarelda did her best to stay far from home when her father was gone. Spending much of her time down at the docks among the sailors, ships, and the sea. She would spend countless hours scanning over it's waters, wishing she was on it's waves. "The siren's call", that is what one sailor told her, that the sea would always call its blood back to it.

Finally her mother could take no more and locked her daughter in her room come evening, but Esmarelda could never stand to be a caged bird and found numerous ways to sneak and climb out of her room to go spend time at the docks. This went on for years, much to her mother and younger sister's dismay.

But not everyone in the family annoyed her so. Esmarelda's older brother understood the free spirit of his baby sister, and often told her tales of his voyage with their father. When she came of age he even helped her convince their father to have her trained in the art of fencing, he agreed she should know how to defend herself, her mother, and baby sister, since neither of them would be around as often as she would.

One evening soon after her fifteenth birthday while down at the docks, Esmarelda caught the eye of one Avimar Sorrinash the Lord of Ollo. It didn't take long for the young varisian and the pirate lord to give in to their mutual attaction. While Avimar had planned on taking Esmarelda back with him to Ollo, Esmarelda declined but promised that any time Avimar was in Port Peril she'd be there to warm his bed.

Two years passed and Esmarelda honed her art in sword play, and kept her promise to Avimar. She even still found time for reading, and while going through a book of old sea captains she discovered something that made everything crystal clear. Her great grandmother had been a free captain! The words of the sailor from so long ago rang in her ears, the sea calls its own back to it.

The next evening when her father returned home, Esmarelda questioned him about Captain Valanie. Wishing not to make his elder daughter angry, he told her the story of his grandmother. From how she became a free captain, to how she accumulated her vast wealth, and in the end settled down in port peril. Hearing all of this swelled the young Esmarelda's romanticized heart as she pictured her great grandmother upon the deck of the ship, and her eyes sparkled with excitement.

Esmarelda tried to go to sleep that night, but she found her mind spinning stories of tales she could be forging herself. When the house was quiet, she made up her mind! She threw off her covers and dressed herself. Also taking her kapenia, the scarf that showed she was an adult. It was purple and blue, made of silk and had creatures of the seas hanging off of it on beaded strings. She stole one of her father's fine rapiers, and a set of leather armor. Then packed a small bag of various things before heading out into the night. She found her way to a local tavern, the Formidably Maiden, hoping the join a crew and start her new exciting life!

She would spend countless hours scanning over it's waters, wishing she was on it's waves. "The siren's call", that is what one sailor told her, that the sea would always call its blood back to it. Being there so often she began to pick up the small superstitions that most all sailors have, which sparked her interest in the curses of the sea. She began to expand her reading circle to include books of the arcane nature, often taking them down to the docks with her to read while her feet sat in the water.

Finally her mother could take no more and locked her daughter in her room come evening, but Esmarelda could never stand to be a caged bird and found numerous ways to sneak and climb out of her room to go spend time at the docks. Personality:
Esmarelda is a wanderlust filled young woman with a sweet vasrisian accent to boot. Rather playful and flirtatious, her tongue gets her into more trouble then out of it.While most would as "Why?" she would ask "Why not?". Having as great lust for life, coupled with her young age and lack of experience, Esmarelda often leaps before she looks.

Appearance:
Like most of Varisians, Esmarelda has lovely dark tanned skin, and lush black hair. Yet it is her eyes that stand out the most, beautiful golden eyes that would gold itself envious. Now dressed in a white cotton shirt, wonderfully made red bodice, brown pants stitched up both sides with Xs, and well fitting black leather boots. Along with her most precious item, her kepenia, made with fine silk dyed blue and purple and features strings of beads with small silver figures of the deep seas hanging from them.
