I think the light crossbow should go to Kimberly. She's been lugging around a mundane heavy crossbow for a while, but I can't think of a time where she's used it since Harrowstone.
And I'd be a wonderful keeper of the keys to Ascanor Lodge!

Kimberly certainly can have it if she wants it. Unless she has grown up, Kimberly is small and the crossbow is medium.

Kimberly Snow |

I don't mind the crossbow, I would take penalties for using it.
I can also adjust the character for size medium, I think it may be time for that anyway. (but I must admit I do like my small size bonuses. kind of like yeah she's more grown up but she hasn't gotten any taller.
in any event I can give her the crossbow and possibly she will use it if the situation warrants. (there really have not been many reasons to use it)

Danica Quinn |

The amulet of natural armor can definitely help Danica.
Will add it to her sheet.

Tolvan |

Merry Christmas all.
Loot recommendations: And we still have that chest and potentially some alchemical.
Potion of cat’s grace - Anna
potion of cure moderate wounds - Danica
scroll of dimension door- Tolvan
wand of acid arrow (38 charges) - Tolvan
+1 light crossbow with 10 bolts ?
masterwork longsword ?
amulet of natural armor +1 - Danica
ring of protection +1 Anna
master keys to every room in Ascanor Lodge Anna, but I might regret this one :)
spell component pouch Tolvan for a spare
spellbook - Tolvan
Hey Anna, Do you want a wand of Acid Arrow? You can sneak attack with it. I see your UMD is +10. That gives you a 50% chance to use a wand and I think you get +1 on the roll once you successfully use it. Not sure if you have that skill maxed out or not but it might be a handy thing for you to have. Tolvan already has one. One has 21 charges, the other has 38. Take which one you want, if you think you want one.

Anna Dunsany |

That's a pretty good idea. I think I'd go with that. Not too much damage by itself, but add in sneak attack, that can be a lot of damage.
I'll take the one with 21 charges, and see how that goes.

Kimberly Snow |

Hey all, just posting that I am still here.
not much for Kimberly to do right now.

Tolvan |

Hang in there. We are about to go out and hunt were wolves I think.
Its almost the new year. This is my longest running game. I'd love to pick up the pace at the start of 2016 and get everyone back to daily postings.

Tolvan |

OK. I have re-read the handouts. Still not sure what summoning the dusk moth will do for us but it seems like a good thing to do about now. Maybe it will let us commune, or at least dream of/with Desna.
Very short version of what happened - only two weeks ago Whispering Way show up, meet with Mathas (one of the five were clan leaders). They set up the current pack lord and kill her. But instead of Mathas getting to eat her heart (which is how they normally choose a pack lord) the Whispering Way take off with it, betraying Mathas I suspect. Seems the pack lord heart is one more component for whatever ritual the Whispering Way is collecting components for.
So, we fight our way to the top, gathering what info we can along the way and try to perform this ritual. And we should remember that there are 5 packs of were. All were betrayed by the Whispering Way and Mathas and his pack maybe more so. But Mathas was also a traitor imho for throwing in with and trusting the Whispering Way in the first place. I do not think you are suppose to have help from outsiders to become the Pack Lord. So this info might prove useful if we can identify which weres we face and can maybe convince them that we are going to both try to kill the Whispering Way and get their old pack lord's heart back for one of them. That means we might be able to pick the faction we like to be in charge here. I forget which is which of course but some are much better than others.

Would love that too.
Happy New Year all.
Tolvan |

To be clear, with a 30 minute duration Tolvan is going to go ahead and offer Spider Climb to the party. He is casting it on himself, Anna, and Kimberly for sure. Oathar and Danica can decide to accept or decline. Marking off 3 charges for now.
I find that buffs like this are often useful but seldom get applied because once battle begins there is usually something better to do.

Kimberly Snow |

I will be on the road all day today. Taking my son back to College in NYC today.
<sarcasm> Yayyy Sunday Traffic in Manhattan joys galore...

Tolvan |

After we take down the one on Anna we can only get to one without getting in the tentacles. But I suspect they will release themselves one by making the CMD roll, and hopefully do that one at a time.

Anna Dunsany |

Yep. Crit was nasty, but hopefully that's the only one I take. If I hit him next round, then I've got a +4 to AC against him. The tentacles was a good spell.

Anna Dunsany |

Hoping that Tolvan can finish this guy so I can run over to flank with Danica.

Kimberly Snow |

I was going over my Character and discovered some errors.
Kimberly has 1 to many level 3 spells
and she is short one feat
So I added racial Heritage (Samsarian) feat and deleted Storm of Blades spell (that one was a little useless anyway.)

Oathar The Vigilant |

I have had a hard drive failure on my laptop so am awaiting Seagate to ship a replacement drive. Then I have to rebuild it from the ground up:( Feel free to bot me if necessary in the mean time. I have the files backed in in HeroLab, but have not been able to access them as of yet as I have nearly a TB of data. Thankfully most of my data was backed up on a mirror that I am having to backup and rebuild also at present. Lots of fun at present!

Tolvan |

I am traveling starting tomorrow morning for the next 8 days - Ski Trip. Please bot me if you need to to keep things running. I will check in as time and internet are available.

You're going skiing without us? That's -1000 xp per day, to be distributed among your party members until you return...that'll learn ya!

Kimberly Snow |

Sorry been quiet. My computer Graphic card crashed and I spent the last two days trying to get things up and running again.

Anna Dunsany wrote:Not sure where we stand in turn order and the like, but I think I've got enough movement to get into a flank with Oathar.Already stated:
"Ok, great job remembering that Tolvan! So we have a new combat here, more or less. ROUND ONE: Matthius went, Cybrisa went. So now all of you go. Oathar is prone at Matthius' feet, Danica next to him. Anna is behind on the edge of the stone platform. Kimberly and Tolvan are at the top of the stair. I will update the map later. Oathar, you have taken a total of 49 hp damage and need to make a Fort DC 15 save. Lycanthropy is a curse, not a disease, so all of your paladin holiness doesn't help."
I got that; what I wasn't sure about was whether I'd need to go after all the other PCs since I technically go first each round, and hence after they all go.
You could have just as easily said I'd need to wait until they all went -- but it also makes sense for Oathar to hold his action until I got into flank with him, to take advantage of it. Sorry I wasn't clear with my ooc text, but I wasn't sure how'd you rule it.

Kimberly Snow |

I think after this fight we need a breather, and refocus.
we are missing way to much in the posts.

brvheart |

Know the feeling Ed. Just spend two weeks replacing both my laptop hard drives and rebuilding Windows from scratch.
Sorry about the missed Fort Save. Still missing things with my eyes:(

Anna Dunsany |

Safe travels! I think we've got stuff to talk about while you're gone.

Tolvan |

I was gone anyway. Had to help my daughter move. She moved from an apartment to a house. Had already turned off the internet at the apartment and has not gotten turned on at the house yet. So long weekend with no internet. :(

Anna Dunsany |

Aaand, that spell continues to be a curse for poor Kimberly. It's funny if it wasn't so frustrating.
As for me, I can't wait for the in-character discussion about what to do about curing us from lycanthropy, but I've been holding off as best I can since it'd be nice to know what Tolvan, Kimberly and Danica know. I guess, from what we've been told by Old Guy, is that the answer to whether we're all werewolves is, "maybe."
Which works for me, but I think part of the confusion was that some of the characters had some pretty good rolls, so we were all waiting for the results.
That being said, I totally agree from the gothic horror story standpoint. We're bitten, possibly infected, and in a race against evil. I'll try to play that up when we're done talking with the Varisians and the topic of our condition comes back up.

Tolvan |

Right. Thanks for that. Now I need to know if Oathar is going to agree to memorize that Diagnose Disease Spell for the day after the battle, and if so, what information we gain from that.
If we get no information, or we get information that at least one person is infected then I think we begin to go forward, but looking for Belladonna as we go.
In your game does Belladonna allow another save for the disease?

Old Guy GM |

We'll save time here because the trip to Feldgrau will be over some time, you can check the map. The spell will tell you basically what you know already plus the fact that both you, Anna, and Oathar are infected. Belladonna in this case will halt the 'clock' as it were, like I explained in the spoilers.
A concoction of the herb, prepped by Kimberly with her heal skill must be drunk every day, with the additional Fort save for the drinkers. She can Take 10 or 20 on making the drink, because you have the time to brew it as you travel, assuming of course that she makes it each night at the campfire or some such. The story device and the RP opportunity is in the Fort save. How well do you deal with contents that you MUST take to keep yourself from becoming a werewolf.
Please keep in mind this is a plot-tension device. I don't have it out for anyone. I'm trying to make this feel like the desperate situation it is. You have a race against the clock, and tough decisions to make. Could you go back to Ascanor, gather your coach, NPCs and find an appropriate level healer to cure you? Sure you could. But then what of the Whispering Way? How much time do they need to accomplish their nefarious goals? Does your cure take days to find? Weeks? How much time do you have?
Rhakis has told you the WW is ahead of you. There is a good chance the one you've been chasing is there as well. You know he was at Ascanor only weeks ago. (Suggestion: you could retcon with Rhakis and have him give a message to your people in Ascanor. They don't actually have to leave and go anywhere, especially now that Estovion is dead. Hell, have Rhakis' folk deal with Belik if you want.)
So our heroes race against the dual-threat clock: the evil plans of the WW, and their own existence as the people they are, or as slavering killers.
In the end, you should be having fun with this story. If you aren't, we can dispense with the lycanthropy stuff and just go forward chasing the Whispering Way.
