Hey all. Glad to see all the posts while I was away from the computer doing mothers day stuff. I am back and looking for a place to jump in but am having trouble.
1) It would help me if we had a character roster to keep track of who is who in this place.
2) Tolvan does not have great investigative skills, but is ready to both try and to help others with his knowledge skills. As for his help if you need it.
Also I see this as complex for the DM to keep track of everything too. As an example, I tried to get some info from Delgros and Duristan. After a reminder from me Delgros had the decency to spurn my question and show disdain, but Duristan did not respond. I think Old Guy sort of missed my question about the dogs. So Tolvan figuratively is back in the room with Duristan waiting for him to explain why Delgros is hesitant to bring his dogs on the hunt.

I think we are all with the warden at present. Oathar is attempting to get your attention as subtly as he can at present.

Just a heads up, I will be going to Pittsburgh Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. to visit my Aunt. she has Cancer and we don't know how much longer she will be around. Doctors said she can no longer travel.
not sure on posting ability during that time.
Anna Dunsany |
Sorry to hear that, Kim. Take your time.

Aaand we're bickering again. I was actually planning on sneaking up there while you guys casually chatted, but then you had to go and announce your intentions to do just that! The room has a fireplace, and you just saw the note that says that servants listen to conversations through the flue. Unbelievable.
But seriously, I'm digging it. Don't ever change. :)
Oathar The Vigilant |
Sorry to hear that Kimberly. We just came back from my wife's grandmother's funeral.
Sneakin' is your job Anna, Oathar tends to come at things a little more head on, but he is trying! Yeah, I know he can be trying<G>!
Danica Quinn |
Apologies Ed. Keep the faith.
Apologies again. I kind of over looked the description of the library.

Hey cool dudes, just popping in to say I'm so happy this game is still going and in such great hands with Old Guy GM. This is the first time I've been on the boards since those last few messages we exchanged. Turns out I do not do school, family, work and play well.
Again, thanks to Helaman and Old Man GM for helping keep this game alive, but ultimately that wouldn't be possible without an incredible group of players being the real heart of the game.
Sending you all warm fuzzies and all that! You guys rock and I'll probably be lurking your game for a good long while. :)
Old Guy GM |
So I was debating just giving the AC of an opponent in the first round of a combat - maybe after the first attacks - just to make things go a bit smoother, AND allow you to post knowing the results of your attacks.
PROS:
Combat posting efficiency goes up.
RP opportunities in combat posts go up.
CONS:
Reduces the suspension of disbelief.
Let me know what you think. I'll be sending this out to all my games.
Kimberly Snow |
i spoiler basic monster combat stats for the players to use when they make combat posts. in mys games. It helps the flow better, I don't give away the monster's HP though so there is still the suspense with that wondering if they hit it hard enough to kill it.
Danica Quinn |
I think giving the AC is fine. This way if I know I miss I don't have to roll for damage and do some RP.
Oathar The Vigilant |
That is fine, I usually always roll my damage with my to hits regardless. What ever makes things smoother:) Hi Mug! Sorry, never did get a chance to play when you were running. I was a replacement after you left.
Mug |
Seems like you're a great fit Oathar :).
I'll PM you any suggestions I come up with Old Guy GM, but one thing I laughed more than a little about was that ring of invisibility. And for the record the party was not going to get to keep that, lol. Unless they started killing folks. But it appears everything worked out there.
Danica Quinn |
Hey Mug. From the way I read your recent posts, you sound somewhat happier than last we "spoke".
You are most welcomed to lurk. Keep the faith.
Anna Dunsany |
Anna would have put up such a fuss. :) It might have come to blows, but more likely than not a Slight of Hand check.
Mug |
Hey Danica, yeah it's amazing how much less stress is involved when life calms down. Note to self - not a high pressure situation lover. ;)
I knew it was going to be fun getting that ring back from you Anna, the battle would have been legendary. Maybe Golum would have had to make a surprise appearance to do a little finger biting...
Tolvan |
Good to hear from you Mug. Best wishes from Alabama.
Tolvan seldom tried to hit things these days unless its a touch AC. But posting the AC is fine with me. Its usually narrowed down with hits and misses before the combat is over anyway.
Old Guy GM |
This guy is not to mince words, you've made enough Sense Motive checks on him to know that. We can dance around all day, but he isn't going to just spill his guts on subtle questioning. Old war hero and all that. He's already established himself as an ally of sorts - there's a reason for that - otherwise you have none here at the Lodge.
Also, you aren't getting into the office tonight, let's move on from that. You have a hunting trip tomorrow. Also, make sure you all understand what you know so far. You have library information, you have other info and potential sources of info.
Anna Dunsany |
I get it, it's just hard for Anna to trust him outright. Sorry.
Kimberly Snow |
just to clarify, I am not frustrated at all..
I have had lots of work stuff going on. we are short handed and we now have 1 guy out sick, and a second announced his retirement in a about a month. so work load has drastically increased.
Tolvan |
Yea, busy here too. Sorry for my absence. I am on a trip with family and have had much less "me" time than anticipated. I'll be back Sunday and will try to jump in. Bot me if needed.
Old Guy GM |
I do wish however that when you return we pick up the pace a bit.
I have returned. As to the other, I do the best I can while balancing various factors: family, job, RL; giving all of you time to react and post, etc. I mentioned at the beginning that this part was somewhat difficult in pbp.
Tolvan |
I am back as well. Slammed at work today from being gone a week, but slowly climbing out of that hole.
Anna Dunsany |
Hey, delays happen. I don't want to put any extra pressure on you, GM. This is the exposition part of the book, I'm sure, so it might seem like it's dragging. But in hindsight it'll be worth it.
Oathar The Vigilant |
You have a RL Old Guy GM? I am jealous! I understand and not expecting this to take a priority over more important things:) (There is something more important than gaming? Never!! j/k! ) Hey, I have no life so sometimes I forget others do!
Kimberly Snow |
hey all, been stuck in bed with a bad knee. every time I move there is pain.
trying to keep up but limited in between throbs of pain.
brvheart |
I recommend copious amounts of pain killers! My wife brews a special tea for me that helps a little. Osgoods turned Lupus/Sjogrens combined with severe osteo behind both knees. What are knees? Of course it does have me sometimes forget the players names, sorry!
Tolvan |
LOL.
Hey I wanted to say that I finally found time to go back and review the recent play, noting who is who and sorta have an itinerary now. I feel like I have not really been able to follow what was going on recently but hope to be more with it now.
Danica Quinn |
Hey guys. I had a short away time here dealing with AML and Fraud conference. I'm back and can add some attention to the campaign. Danica has high Perception and Survival skills. You could of botted here if you needed to.
Kimberly Snow |
I am recovering fine and going through to catch up on everything.
looks like I missed a bit... sorry about that catching up now.
Tolvan |
Yes, welcome back. As a group we are trying to decide if we stay in the were wolf instead woods or head back to the manor where it might actually be less safe. :)
Kimberly Snow |
just posted a not too convincing bluff to stay I guess.
but as far as I can tell, only the party has any clue about Kimberly having any real skill let alone spell casting ability.
Kimberly Snow |
important info concerning me
with Paizo new server update I may have lost access from work which will greatly reduce my posting ability.
I still have access at home, but not on my nook nor my phone anymore.
I have to check my work computer again when I get the chance but so far it didn't work.
Tolvan |
Yea, my work computer cannot post any more either. The os is out of date, but its controlled by the IT group and I cannot update it. But I bring another computer to the office every day. :)
