on his initiative the young elf, will dart back for his pack picking it up and trying to slip it on all while following after the mites. They would have this tree clear of the little buggers in no time.
Hella would charge whistling at wolf to get the other one still at the exit letting the others take care of the one on the ground. She was trying to limit it to one escaping.
Wolf drops his foe, the little beast is still as it hits the ground. Hella wounds her target and stands over it, menacing it and nearly daring it to try and flee her.

Round 5, Initiative 22: Aluxion
I have no idea where we are in initiative anymore, but I think we're about done here. We will leave this area to loot later, since it makes no sense to start stripping corpses right now. Aluxion's murderhobo skills aren't trained up yet.
Aluxion walks forward, skirting carefully around the greasy area. "Hoo-ya, that did it!" he exclaims excitedly. "Can't be many more o' them varmints left. Let's foller 'em down!"
If there's still any mites remaining in his view, he takes a shot at them. (The light source moved with Rodric, so no concealment. Factoring in a -4 for soft cover)
If there are no mites standing, he continues on to the next room, hootin' and hollarin'. As much as he enjoys stalking prey, the chase is the funner part of a hunt.
Arilyth looks about at the fallen mites. "Shame, really. They were starting to grow on me. Wait, on second thought, I wouldn't want anything like them growing on me. After you Aluxion! I'll be right behind!"
Male Elf Ranger 2/ rogue 2 HP 29/29 | AC 17;13 t ;14 ff | F: +3 R: +9 W: +2 || Skill:Perception +11,Stealth +10, Sense Motive +5,
I dont think there is enough soap in the world to get that sort of infestation clean miss Arilyth, but yes, Tallyho and forward, I cant imagine there are that many left." Their young elven companion said all smiles, he was perhaps already thinking of the fort..
Male Human (Taldan) Cavalier (Gendarme) 1 /Fighter Dragoon 1 (HP 20/20) AC 18
Standing over the most recently slain mite, Rodric steadies his breathing and adjusts his grip on his sword. "Let's be done with these nasty creatures, and soon. I'm looking forward to some more of Svetlana's stew when we return to Oleg's."
As you enter the small tunnel you catch a glimpse of the fleeing Mite exiting into another tunnel on the opposite side of the chasm that splits this chamber. Roots hand down from the ceiling, dropping into the dark depths. It is only 15 feet across the chasm. A number of the hanging roots have been knotted, likely by the Mites to make it easier to cross.
Arilyth shrugs. "Well, we either follow, or we can try to collapse the whole structure. Not sure how efficient that would be. So, who goes first?" She looks around at her companions with a cocked eyebrow.

"We could perhaps turn around and try the other pathway first."
The young elf said though he already was glancing up at the roots trying to figure the best way across.
"failing that if anyone as some sturdy rope, perhas we could climb up those roots, find a really sturdy one and get a rope tied up to swing across safely, Im not sure how sturdy they are.
Take 20 perception allowed to spot any weak or 'trapped' roots possible? it would be a 26.
Aluxion backs down, pretending that he wasn't just about to climb across using the roots. "Good thinkin', Cerian. Ah probably weigh more than a mite. A mite more, aha." He chuckles a bit as Cerian examines the roots, glancing over them himself.
It is clear that some of the knots are tied loosely in oorder to come apart the moment any weight is put on them. The roots themselves are definitely sturdy enough to support anyone crossing though. And with the weak knots pointed put it would be no more difficult to cross that a bridge.

I better post my action in case I actually DO go first. I don't want to hold folks up :o
"Look out, Cerian! Thing with FAR too many legs!" Nedyr warns and fires at the centipede, fairly certain most of his spells wouldn't work to well on it.
The massive centiedepe seems to have trouble squeezing through the narrow section of the chasm, it is far too large, it surges upwards and reaches a point just below the lip, still focused on Cerian as it's prey.
Since we left initiative and went back into initiative, I assume that we all moved some (especially since Cerian took 20 on his perception earlier), so I moved us all to the edge of the chasm. Except Cerian. He's in the chasm. I went with our usual marching order. I dislike how the lip on our side is clearly 10 ft long, but the squares are aligned such that they're 2.5, 5, and 2.5 ft wide.
Aluxion's eyes get big and he chants a prayer to Erastil to protect them all.
Casting Bless, using the top-right corner of my square as the origin of the burst. All allies are in range. +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects for 10 rounds.

Thanks for the excellent clarification post Aluxion.
Based on your description DM, Rodric should be able to attack the creature from the edge of the chasm correct? I will post under that assumption, and we can edit as needed.
Rodric smashes his sword on his shield as the insect climbs, trying to make enough noise to distract the centipede. It doesn't work, and the beast's focus is still squarely on Cerian when Rodric slices out with his longsword, trying with all his might to bury the blade deep into the bugger's carapace.
Arilyth stands back, but decides on her turn to use the last of her performance to inspire her comrades. There will be 3 rounds of alln affected allies receiving a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Hella hefts a shortspear and throws, the weapon lodging in the creatures side and making it even more difficult to move.
Attack:1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 = 22 Damage:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Cerian finishes crossing the pit, the movement and shouts telling him he doesn't want to be hanging by a root when the beast comes for him. He draws his weapon when he reaches the ledge. Miri cranes her neck from the back of the group trying to steal a peak at the commotion, all she sees are the whip like tails swinging for the people on the edge of the ledge.
Next round is up, going to post the beasts actions but Nedyr your action will happen before it
It's head raises out of the pit, the vermin is HUGE! It's tails flash, sweeping for Rodric
Attack:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 Confirmation:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15 Trip:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26 Damage:1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Rodric looses his footing, falling on his rump as the beasts jaws flash towards Cerian.
Bite:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Damage:2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11
As it sinks its fangs in the venom pumps and you can feel it burn in your veins.
Save:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
But you fight off the effects with no trouble.

Aluxion fires an arrow at the monstrosity. "Wow, that varmint's big! Like shootin' tha side of a barn!"
I assume it probably has more than 10 AC.
As his arrow pings harmlessly off of the centipede's chitin, Aluxion frowns. "Like shootin' an armored barn," he corrects himself.
you missed the +1 for bardsong or your bless or pbs there alux... Plus you have precise shot and its too big to get cover. You hit heh Aluxions arrow finds its mark and a gush of ichor sprays from the crack in the carapace.

preposting in case I miss the chance too, sorry about lack of posting, had to work everyday the last 2 and a half weeks yesterday was first day off in like 20 days and all i did was sleep >.< Now i have so many things im running about trying to do dont want to hold things up.
Round 2 initiative 10
The elf hissed at he pain in his leg from the beasts bite, it was indeed a serious foe they faced. He gripped the elven curvedblade and bit off a curse bringing it high overhead to slash wickedly down at the huge monstrosity.
If i get eaten or turned to paste please ignore, If attacked and knocked prone, he would probably just half sit up and swing so take a -4 for attacking from prone and call it a day!Hopefully you guys just kill it dead first!

I remembered bless and bard song (the +2), but forgot point blank shot's +1 to hit. Also I forgot that cover (it should have partial cover due to soft cover from my own allies) gives a bonus to AC rather than a penalty to attack rolls... so I suppose I actually got a 15 on my attack roll! (and it gets an AC bonus)
Edit: 16. I have another BAB from leveling.
Cerian, that's not a pre-post, since we have in the lower half of round 2 right now, from what I can tell. Round 1 you finished moving across the pit.
Relevant Cover Rules:
Soft Cover
Creatures, even your enemies, can provide you with cover against ranged attacks, giving you a +4 bonus to AC. However, such soft cover provides no bonus on Reflex saves, nor does soft cover allow you to make a Stealth check.
Partial Cover
If a creature has cover, but more than half the creature is visible, its cover bonus is reduced to a +2 to AC and a +1 bonus on Reflex saving throws. This partial cover is subject to the GM's discretion.
I can determine line of sight from a top corner of my space, but lines from that point will still have to pass through my allies to see the lower part of the enemy.
Male Elf Ranger 2/ rogue 2 HP 29/29 | AC 17;13 t ;14 ff | F: +3 R: +9 W: +2 || Skill:Perception +11,Stealth +10, Sense Motive +5,
thanks ALuxion i just have been run a bit ragged the last couple of weeks and my attentions span has suffered a bit from it, Hopefully I can start to keep things focused better!
Feeling the sting of blades and arrows the centipede hisses in rage. It lunges at Cerian as it clacks its mandibles. Bite:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Damage:2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 = 16
As he drops it turns on Rodric but not before its tail lashes at Nedyr.
Tail:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
But the sweep is wide and the roots restrict it.
Sorry Cerian. Need a save vs poison and to stabalize XD
Ravboom and Hella have worked out they have some background, and Farin Deephammer is also one of Lord Aldorini's people.
Not sure if anyone else wanted to know each other before hand. Lord Aldorini has a reputation for having odd, and oddly successful, retainers. :) People nobody else would want as a retainer or send on an important mission, but who nonetheless get the job done well. So if there are any other 'oddities' types, that might work for them. Let's work it out here though so that the RP in the gameplay thread works fluidly?
I did supply some custom introductions for most that was tied to their backstory (left out those I knew had already worked out their own) but feel free to work out an alternate if you'd like. I'm not tying you down to the tie-in provided unless you want it heh.
as an aside it was asked how I'd be doing maps and other campaign info. I've traditionally printed off a custom hexmap for this AP in the past so it won't be any hardship to simply host it somewhere for the group, which will get linked in the campaign info. As for battles, I'll take a vote. Do we want tactical maps or a more freeform cinematic combat? Personally I like battlemaps and have no qualms posting and updating them on a round by round basis, just don't expect much from me art wise heh
I prefer tactical maps. :) Google Draw works REALLY well for this. If you follow my avatar back to my login, and look at MDTs campaigns, you'll see one called Perdition's Point with examples of a combat map currently being used. It's not hard, and takes 15 or 20 minutes to set up. I find it works well. As far as 'work' to set up maps, if you look online, you can find a ton of already done 1 inch square maps that you can put into the Google Drawing to run combats on.
oooh I like, I've already got a hex grid template with grid coords I use for making customer kingmaker maps so I should be able to get that one there if it cooperates as well
For those who might be thinking I'm insulting Hella's player in character, please don't. :)
Ravboom is absolutely convinced that Wolf is the smarter and wiser of the two. He gives Wolf all credit for any successes they have, and Hella the blame for any failures. :) Ravboom actually really likes both, but also likes to make Hella growl. :) Fun fun time for Gobby when she chases him and can't catch him. :)
Just to let you all know, I was travelling heavily 10/27 to 10/29, I'll be catching up on 10/30
Human GM
Hardest part is getting the GMAIL account set up, and learning the little tricks.
First trick, don't upload a file. It won't let you edit it right.
What you do is create a new Google Drawing, and then select 'Insert Image' and drag your main map into the box. Once that's done, you don't have to use the 'insert image' to put on tokens and such. If you ever change your background (like revealing hidden doors or blacked out map sections), delete the original map (not the tokens!), and 'insert image' again and drag the new image into the box. It'll put it in EXACTLY the same place, so all the token stay in the right spot. Then just send the new map image to the back (right click, order, send to back) and you replaced the underlying map without redoing the tokens.
Already have a gmail account, I had initially been contemplating using blogger for the campaign updates so this won't be a big leap heh Thanks for the hints, that should make things easier too
not exactly going out of the box here since this actually is his picture but... Lord Mayor Sellemius
and how i'm picturing Lord Aldorini at this point
Lord Aldorini
Alrighty, crashing for the night. i'll get an update in before work tomorrow and hit it up again after work heh might hit it during lunch, no promises though ;)
Sorry, it was more the way he paused. :) It was the fourth 'pregnant pause' in a row, and so I figured by the third time, Ravboom *might* begin to twig to people looking at him and hesitating and acting odd. :)
So less Aluxion and more just him being the fourth nail. I really expected him to fail that roll given it's untrained. :)
As to the HP, that's a typo. Should be 14. I'm in the habit of going 'Full BAB = 10 1st'. Keep forgetting Barbarian's get d12. :)
Don't forget about that other smash hit dwarven drinking song: Hi-Ho!
Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho!
Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho!
Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! Hi-Ho! About here they drunk enough to forget the lyrics and switch back to the gold song.

How about just natural kingdom in general. It would be nice to see one that works with nature and is still a good sized kingdom. I do like the idea of the deep voiced elves. :P
Miri will likely catch on to Ravboom's issues with elves. I just noticed that Gnomes also hear into the ultrasonic ranges, like dogs and such. Ravboom ears ultrasonics as well, so the high-pitched elf voices don't sound the same way to him they do to elves and humans. Thus his mispronouncing of Nedys' name, and his not happy outlook on elf songs, which tend to range very well in normal sound, but have very disturbing ultrsonics, at least they are disturbing to Ravboom.
Ravboom is the epitomy of 'front line'. And unlike most barbarians, he actually has good AC even while raging. :) 16 when raging, 18 when not.
When raging, his to-hit is +7 (good for 1st level) and his damage is :
Great Sword +5 (1d10+5) 19-20x2
Great Sword (Rage) +7 (1d10+8) 19-20x2
Great Sword Power Attack +4 (1d10+8) 19-20x2
Great Sword (Rage) Power Attack +6 (1d10+11) 19-20x2
He almost always rages/power attacks. Even on a low hit he instakills most enemies at 1st level with one hit.
Male Human (Taldan) Cavalier (Gendarme) 1 /Fighter Dragoon 1 (HP 20/20) AC 18
Rodric is primarily a damage dealer, though off of his horse he has a good AC and will hopefully be making good use of intimidate.
Very much a charging knight type, he'll be mobile in combat as much as possible.
BTW, as a mobile, mounted, charge-focused character, tactical maps will help me make the most of my character in combat. I am ok with the cinematic approach as long as it is very clear when I can/can't charge etc.
ok so I did get to post at lunch (also been following the thread when i should be working :P) horray for a slow day lol absolutely loving the interactions so far. I'll post as custom willing over the course of day but the next big update won't be until I get home heh
I'll be entirely honest I'd love this AP just as much if it weren't an amazing sandbox adventure, the lore from rostland and the river kingdoms is probably my favorite.
