Welcome everyone to your Discussion thread! Let's go ahead and figure out the last mechanical details and the recent past that binds these characters together for now.

On the Campaign Info tab you will find the link for the Roll20 map. There are five open slots (SLOT1-SLOT5) with no current information. You can ignore the "character sheet" option on those character slots, whenever I prep a module I prep it for multi-purpose use is all. Keeping your alias updated is all that matters.

Also on the Campaign Info tab are the stats for the town for handy reference. You'll also find a handout on Roll20 with the town stats and a nice little overhead image of Arwyll Stead. There is another section for the NPC the characters will meet, but which is currently blank. There is another spoiler for less important NPCs for quick reference purposes. Lastly is just the initiatives for the characters for my quick reference!

On that note, when it comes to combat or action scenes, only the most timing-critical action scenes or major combats will use individual initiative so as not to slow down or hinder posting. Most combats or action scenes will use be a "you/them" or "them/you" based on initiative rolls from all parties involved.

Logged into roll20 game, changed avatar name to Cuthalian. Looking at other characters. Cuthalian is an Ilsurian Trained archer with some unarmed self defense thrown in. He's been lurking in the hinterlands around Arwyll Stead for most of his life.

Humans? They're not us!

Niccan grew up in Lepidstadt. Growing up in a college town was great since he's a bit (LOT!) of a book worm/know-it-all, which is why he worships Magdh. He's got +8 or better to all knowledge rolls, maxing out with +13 to Knowledge-Arcana. This is with his Fey Obedience which he does every morning....

So we all need to figure out how we got together and how we earned third level....

He's not much of a fighter, but he stays fairly close, summons critters and either tosses acid splashes or spams guidance. Or, he can also add a bit of luck occasionally if needed!

We're protecting them as usual.

It looks like Cuthalian and Theren have been in the Belkzin area most of their lives. Niccan is coming in from Lepidstadt. The other two don't mention in their profiles.

Niccan mentions in his story that perhaps we came together and aided in the Ravengro prison haunting. That could be a decent background. We would have the Professor as our reason for coming together, part of the quest has you staying in town until the daughter's affairs with the Professors passing is settled and you are sure nothing happens to her. That means we worked together to bring down the prison and stayed on for a while to help out. There are some items to be taken to Lepidstadt at that point. Perhaps we got her carriage to Lepidstadt and gave her the things to drop off because Theren and I heard about the trouble at Arwyll.

Thoughts? Modifications? Totally different meeting arc?

Monster tactician summons for a min per level right? That gives us the Theren as a frontline + a monster and maybe Jack. Cuthalian is designed as an archer, it's his class. Kit'arr is a skirmisher. Where are you going with Niccan? Summoning and spell support?

Yes. Looking at his summoning options at this level, probably elementals. He also has the variable teamwork feat. I need to read the list to see which ones are useful. I've temporarily selected Shake it off for the bonus to saves.

The Aether Elemental looks really interesting.


Looks like everyone has checked in. My work week is slightly more busy so far than I expected, so give me a little time (hopefully tonight, if not a day or two) before I really get things rolling. The story opens with an action scene, so if you haven't logged into Roll20, make sure to do that!

I personally will just use the standard HP for summoned critters.

Players can choose to roll, but if so they must stick with that method for the game.


Just a heads up: I've changed the map page to that of the town. Labels will be updated when I get a moment so everyone can get used to the main setting.

I've also updated portions of the Campaign Info page to include Vegazi's stats and the new known NPC of the Mayor.

Were we able to figure out what the charms and potion are? Same with the scroll, but not if it is arcane.


Oops. I was trying to ride the wave of activity and lost track of some stuff.

The stupid tokens have a CL of 12, which I get mechanically but for one-use magic items that cost under 1k gold it seems silly so I am just going to give that to you: 2 bird feather tokens and 1 whip feather token.

The potion remains unknown to Niccan at this time, as does the scroll which, yes, is arcane.

Experience Gained: 400 each.

It's late for me but we need a treasure tracker. I like to use google sheets. I can set one up tomorrow but if someone beats me to it, so be it.

@GM: My backstory has Cuthalian ranging the hinterlands hereabouts with his father. Do I have any familiarity with the town or do we need to ask where everything is? And, do I know or know of Grev? Is there any reason for me to believe the mayor and such would know my father, Vincalian? Or would it be better if I were from around some other frontier town?


Cuthalain should know the town well enough to get around just fine. You'd know all the locations on the map and that the Arwyll family is very respected by the town as a whole. The locations you see listed on the map are mostly self-explanatory. The Red Archive is a library/school/scriptorium run by Gallus Crevac, and is where the scrolls listed in the town's marketplace under the Campaign Info tab would likely be found.

It doesn't affect things much if youre from the town itself or another one really. Totally your call. If Dad's homestead is near here he would know him, and realize he likely hasn't seen you since you were a child, but it doesn't really affect a whole lot except potentially causing me to modify something in the second chapter of the book, lol. Either way you might know Grev's name, but do not really know what the elders are talking about.

Worse come to worse, I have added the treasure tracker to my header. Oddly, it is showing up after my ongoing effects.

Hey DMD, can I use unchained Rage instead of regular Rage? Technically VMC uses regular rage but I think UnRage is easier to use,especially in PbP.
