So I'm thinking my character would just be obsessed with like honorable combat, which he envisions as WWE style wrestling matches. I've built around that ideal but I'm interested in what other characters we'd have in the Guild, and how I might adjust accordingly.
I've built the character with the given character-build outline, I haven't yet wrote a long backstory or anything, but I'd like to wait on that until we have a confirmed group.

I was going to go for Psychic and Mesmerist. Neither is overly complicated (unlike the spiritualist or occultist). If I do something other than cast a spell, I'll let you know how it works in spoiler.
As for prestige class, I was going to dip 1 level in Enchanting Courtesan.
The character build will be such that most of the things that I do (spells mostly) will not have obviously come from me. The build is an enchanter, more or less.
As for the monstrous part, I have no major preference other than it needing to be lesser so that I can be level 7. I was originally leaning toward half-fiend, for a conceptually half-incubus. But, if we are a guild, I'm down with adopting a theme.

As for the Guild Names, My character is by nature too loud and or boisterous for any of those names to be a fitting place for them.
If we're looking for a more clandestine organization, which you seem to be angling towards, I'd say something like "The Unseen Order" or "Vestiges of Ruination" or "Seeds of Sedition"
Creed: "Keep the right hand from seeing what the left is doing."
Flag: An open white hand reaching skyward across a motley of black, blue, and purple.
Guildhouse: A hidden castle works.

![]() |

Seeds of Slaughter?
"We are that which is necessary to succeed; the hammer, the screwdriver, the scalpel, the chainsaw."
Flag: a series of white hands arrayed in a circle holding a variety of implements over a background of black, blue, purple.
Guildhouse: in a demiplane preferably. In mmo terms, in an instance with an unassuming entrance in an unassuming place.
Background: Maybe between us we always had a near ritualistic disagreement on how to approach each raid.

The more I delve into this prompt, the more interesting it is. I am not creating a character for the world this character will be from. I am creating a person that created the character in an mmo. It feels most appropriate, to me, to create a character in the most optimized way because that is what the person would do.

.:Lynk:. |

Nickadeamous here. Background below, but still a work in progress. Just wanted to drop in and say "greetings".
Lynk is a Alchemist (vivasectionist) 7 / (earth) Kineticist 7 Kyton-spawn tiefling with the [Apostle Kyton] template. He likes to throw metal around in some form or another.
I like Seeds of Slaughter. I want to be the scalpel.
Feedback welcome, as are any suggestions on how I can be useful or contribute. Lynk will have some skills, can craft potions and alchemical items, but is mostly a ranged damage dealer.
Kimmy was a perfect student. She studied hard, had a perfect GPA, and was planning her future college before she could even drive a car. She was active in school activities, tutored other kids, even older kids occasionally, and volunteered on the weekends at the local food shelter. Her parents couldn’t be prouder.
She was pretty in that cute, school-girl kind of way. Never really trying to be, but she was nonetheless. She just had a way about her. She could talk to anyone about anything and even people that didn’t like her really still kind of liked her. It was hard not to. She was just so pleasant and polite.
Eventually the fateful day came. Kimmy graduated and moved away to school. Being away from home was like being in a different world. One would hardly know it, but Kimmy did struggle at first. Still, it didn’t take her long to make friends and acclimate to her new environment. That was until she met him.
Her friends invited her out to a party that she really didn’t want to go to to begin with, but she eventually gave in. It was there that she met him. The boy. At first she didn’t even realize she had a crush. It’s not like she had had one before.
Before long they were dating and Kimmy was in love, or so she thought at the time. It was during her time with this boy that she was introduced to the world of DMMO-RPG. The concept was so foreign to her. Be whoever you wanted to be? As if she had ever thought about being anyone else.
Kimmy was polite though, and wanted to learn about things that this boy was interested in so she gave it a chance. It was eye-opening for Kimmy. If Kimmy could be described as a ray of sunshine, than her online persona was the complete opposite. It was darkness, darkness and hatred given form. And that form was Lynk.
She doens’t know where the name came from. It was like she didn’t pick it at all. It was just there. It was always there. This form of pent up aganst, fury, and cruelty all bundled into one subconscious nightmare given an outlet, and that outlet was Yggdrasil.
It started innocently enough. Making a character. Joining a group. Following around some other more experienced players and learning as she went. Earning rewards was what really hooked her though. She was used to earning rewards, but in school that took months of effort and generally didn’t get you much more than a piece of paper or a hunk of plastic to sit on your desk.
Here, in this alternate reality, rewards compounded. The more you got, the more you were empowered to get. It was a new high unlike anything she ever felt. It was life-altering for Kimmy, and for Lynk, and she quickly forgot about the boy.
Lynk manifested as Kimmy’s complete opposite. Where she was well-mannered, Lynk was crude. Where she was caring and empathic, he was cruel and vindictive. Where she would help anyone, he would take from anyone. He was practically one of those goth boys that she had seen at school, complete with the dark hair and make-up, piercings, and tattered clothes.
Eventually Lynk took over most of the time. Kimmy was still in school, and still attending classes, and while her grades were definitely slipping, she was still on a full academic scholarship so she had plenty of time in the day, or rather Lynk did. She stopped visiting her parent, always making up excuses and rarely calling anymore, and as time wore on, she was Lynk more than she wasn’t.
The more she played as Lynk, the more she pushed the envelope. It wasn’t enough to have a lot of piercings, they had to be grotesque. They had to be everywhere. They had to not only get people to look, but to repulse. The clothes went from ripped shirts and dirty jeans to more utility bindings than anything else. Anything to draw attention and make others want to look away.

That is a solid backstory. Well done. I do have a concern though that pertains to most very chaotic characters, why would anyone want to be around them for prolonged periods of time? In this context, why would a guild invite or keep such an excessively unpleasant person around?
Maybe I'm reading too far into the background and have the character wrong. If so, please let me know.

Nickadeamous |

That's a fair question.
What makes anyone want to be around anyone for long? Respect, shared interests, mutual appreciation, etc.
Lynk won't intentionally attack anyone. He won't go out of his way to be disrespectful. He doesn't hurl insults, put people down, or start fights. Well, unless that's what the team decides. It's kind of like why do people watch horror movies or slasher flicks? It's just an unusual experience to vent some pent up frustrations or release some inner desire. Shrug, who knows.
He's lawful, and a team player. His excessive appearance is more a cross between personal expression and a warning, no more than a brightly colored poisonous animal or a beware of dog sign. And not everyone will find his appearance off-putting. Goth travels with goth. He's just a rather excessive version of Pete's dragon, the monster in the woods that the kid makes a friend out of.
To Lynk and Kimmy, they don't really care if you've (and by you I mean any one, not you specifically) gotten over their appearance. They've gotten over yours.
I'll add this last. It's a video game setting. If it's anything like ours, it's dominated by young male adults, and they usually like what's cool, different, and even scary or grotesque at times.
Their story isn't complete yet, and I think that's one issue. Lynk is not really a loner. You can't win or be great at any game without a team behind you. They will learn that as I continue their story.
All that said, I have no issues trying a different character. This was just the first build that came together out of a list of many.

Lynk now appears to be further along than the rest. Vegecannibal and Saashaa don't have aliases or background stories.
You all may want to think about the motivations of the player and how you played your in-game character.
So who is the guildmaster?
How will you be running things in game? We can discuss it now or leave it for development in the future. We can jump into the last day of Yggrasil before the servers close. Opening gameplay.

.:Lynk:. |

I'd rather not be the guild master, although I can if no one else wants to either. I think based off of character discussions, Saashaa's character may be the better choice. Seems like Vegecannibal and I are more physical than mental, but I could be wrong.
I vote for Grippli as a serving force. I don't know why.

GM Wolf |

I am sorry for my absence, we packed up last night, and today we spent the day driving to Whidby Island. A little vacation with my extended family!
I hope some people took the leadership feat, if not everyone. Thus everyone should have some high level NPCs and followers! Please let me know what kind of NPCs you want and I will create them otherwise they will be lackluster background props!
If not I am fine with you having a personal assistant, if you want me to play it just let me know.

GM Wolf |

Saashaa appears to be ready as he made a post in gameplay. You still have time to create your backstory and development. Post in gameplay ASAP.
I will begin the lengthy job of going over your descriptions, likes, dislikes, background, etc. You are welcome to add the bonuses to your character.
Wow, seven minutes and I am done. No bonuses yet...

![]() |

Ready is not necessarily the word I would use. I would encourage others who definitely want to be a part of this to join me in the gameplay. My goal is to help iron out more of my character's personality, nuanced motivations, and such through interaction with the rest of you. Essentially, I enjoy engaging my fellow players in rp to help make my character the ideal fit.
Also, help me flesh out our guild mansion with how your character decided to contribute to it (or not, if your character didn't contribute).
As per leadership, do you want to implement any bonuses or penalties to our leadership scores based on things like reputation or having a base or anything?
I swapped out a feat for leadership from my original build.
Edit: What do you mean by high level NPCs and followers? It is my understanding that a cohort caps out at your level-2 and followers cap at level-5?

GM Wolf |

As per leadership, do you want to implement any bonuses or penalties to our leadership scores based on things like reputation or having a base or anything?
Yes you would apply all the possible bonuses which will make a much higher score.
Edit: What do you mean by high level NPCs and followers? It is my understanding that a cohort caps out at your level-2 and followers cap at level-5?
high level NPCs = cohorts
Yup!

Bragus |

[Background Part 1]
August Brandt is a 30 year old bus driver with a few simple pleasures, Professional Wrestling, Drinking, and Gaming. As of late he's been playing Yggdrasil as a wrestler character after he learned that it was possible, and has found it exceptionally good at PvP with players who often don't realize it's even possible. After joining a guild and focusing more on PvE content, he leveled in a class to expand his wrestling capabilities to unforeseen ends, grappling foes many times his size.
As Bragus Brogan, he has achieved a very successful win/loss ration in PvP Duels, and much to his pleasure he's heard many cries of "b#@%~+%% mechanic" and "cheater" after pinning opponents used to more traditional rpg combat. He even started hosting PvP events, taking bets, and doing commentary. The carefree nature of the events led to people talking about their guilds upcoming plans and bragging about their abilities. Bragus recognized this as the information goldmine it was, and brought it to his guild to capitalize on it.
As his work days grew longer and his energy shrank he began to commit less and less time to the game. Eventually a month had passed, then two, then ten without logging on. When he received the invitation to log back on to celebrate the end of the game and the great times he shared with the guild, he came tired but nostalgic.
Didn't want to lose risk losing a full post again. I'm going to background gradually as it comes to me if that's okay.

GM Wolf |

I understand the fear of losing posts on this forum.
Yup what I was going to say.
Sorry for your loss! Take the time you need.
---
I will give the group until the 20th of July to get backgrounds fully developed. Feel free to take your time. Also make NPCs that you have attained in game.
If you are making long posts I would suggest Google Docs, it has been a saver for me!

Inennarra
Doppelganger Rogue
Sanders programmed Inenarra to excel at infiltration and information gathering, as well as assist in guild upkeep logistics. Personality-wise, they were programmed to be goal-oriented and to view all other than Sanders as means to an end. Their objectives were to search for any issues in the Arcane Abbatoir with subtlety and report it to Sanders unless it is trivial and can be dealt with easily. Sanders also programmed Inennarra to be witty and have a crush on him. Sanders prefers women.
That encompasses everything I can think of.
