Could use martial/melee build for the Breaking the Storm arc I am running.

Specifically a level 7 or 8, (can take a level 6, but would need to be level 7 prior to the start of part 2) that can take part in all three scenarios.
Part 1 is 5-8
Part 2 & 3 are 7-10

Unfortunately, no Pregens allowed. They do not go up to level 7 like 1E did.

Just to put some weight to it. By joining this table not only you will play through the amazing story-arc of season 2, but you will play at the table with some heavy-hitter in PF2-PBP universe: GM ZD, Hmm, Bretl, Bigguyinblack to name a few, and the list goes on!

If you have a PC and are hesitant to sign up for this amazing game, people will write stories about it. At the age of 90'ty, you may want to tell the story of the most amazing experience in your PBP lifetime to your grand-grand-grand-grandchildren, and this will be it. All of that and more you will miss if you don't sign up for this game :D.

I can't oversell this!

Silver Crusade

Checks character roster, knowing full well there's no one remotely near 7th level.
Sees that the most experienced PC is level 3.
Shoulders sag.

Bummer.

Horizon Hunters

What levels are pf society play at now?

1-4, 3-6, 5-8, and 7-10. There are only two 7-10 scenarios, so the highest level you can reach with just Scenarios is 9.2.

If you play things in Adventure Mode (One-shots, Adventures, Adventure Paths), you can be higher. Maybe even Level 20 (I think the APs give 1 level PFS credit per book, but I'm not 100% sure).

You are correct that sanctioned APs, as-well as both Plaguestone and Slithering, give a full level each book, and don't have to be on a specific character level. (You can do a full 6 book AP and assign each chronicle to a different level 1 character, for 6 level 2 characters, if you wished. As an example. OR take a level 9 character, and dump all 6 books on them to then be level 15. Just because.)

Horizon Hunters

There probably are not plans to go higher than that?

Atae wrote:

With how much better high level gameplay is for 2e, I wouldn't be shocked if we go up to 20 in PFS. Do I think there will be a ton of high level scenarios? Probably not. However I do think we will have 1 or 2 to get us there.

They've been following following an inverse square formula.

30 Level 1 / 1-2 / 1-4 scenarios [32 = 2*4^2]
19 Level 3-6 scenarios [18 = 2*3^2]
8 Level 5-8 scenarios [8 = 2*2^2]
2 Level 7-10 scenarios [2 = 2*1^2]

If you want to extrapolate, by the time we get 3 Level 17-20 scenarios, we would have:

243 Level 1-4s
192 Level 3-6s
147 Level 5-8s
108 Level 7-10s
75 Level 9-12s
48 Level 11-14s
27 Level 13-16s
12 Level 15-18s
3 Level 17-20s

At 24 scenarios/year, that'd be Season 36.

Paizo plans that far in advance but I don't know if they plan that far in advance. I bet they know whether Season 3 will end with 7-10s or 9-12s, and maybe mapped out Season 4; the rest is just "Shrug, Here Be Dragons."

Horizon Hunters

If this is the case I think they may want to revisit repeatable scenarios.

I think I'm going to run a couple of bounties (2,7) and quests (10 or 13). I'll post recruitment for them early next week.

I'm also considering running 1x11 Flames of Rebellion now I've finished it and buying & running 1x12 Burden of Envy when I do finish it as a player.

I've finished most of my game day games as a player and I'm feeling more confident to run them.

If all goes well, I'll run The Slithering at some point too.

Coincidently, Mimi also finds herself available for action. She's 1 XP from Level 3 so a Quest will work out great; either 10 or 13 is fine.

I'll probably also be interested in going through The Slithering, depending on how things look for me when you crank it up.

GM advice!

First time a PC has died in my game - do I mark them as "dead" when reporting?

One of my players said doing so prevented him from purchasing the Second Chance boon.

What do I do?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ask them if they are purchasing the Second Chance boon. If they are, do not mark them dead. If they are not, mark them dead.

I like to burn their character sheet in front of them and take a Polaroid of their tears.

I would add a note on the chronicle stating they needed to buy a second chance boon.

Indeed I would add the note on their last chronicle that the character died and cannot be played until a second chance boon is purchased. This way when they are audited it can be seen.

Gameday is coming to an end, so it's time to start GMing more games. I'm hosting 1-05: Trailblazer's Bounty, an adventure for level 1-4 heroes. Prepare to trek through a snowy mountain range. This is not repeatable.

Please check out the >SIGN UP SHEET< and add your name. I'm willing to run 2 tables if enough people sign up.

1-05 is not repeatable, although I think it was previously marked as such.

    Horizon Hunters

    When did that change?

The PDF still has the repeatable tag, but the store page does not.

    >Ah, looks like it's a typo Paizo never corrected.<

Welp, sorry about that. It's not repeatable.

Then they should have fixed it on the scenario itself and perhaps not deepened on people to read a thread for that information.

While I agree. I also know there are plenty of typos out and about, and they are slowly fixing them... This is one that has been out a long time, but I suspect it will get fixed eventually.

There's also a good chance that the pdf he has is an old download and has been updated since then.

    Horizon Hunters

I just looked at mine, it still says repeatable.

Now recruiting for a run of the Pathfinder Society #1-06 , Lost on the Spirit Road, hoping to complete the table by mid-December. This scenario has the repeatable tag. Recruitment will be first-posted, first-seated.

I am looking to start as soon as I have a table of 4, but will seat up to 6 players.

If interest, please check out the recruitment thread here.

Are you sure you guys aren't getting 1-05 Trailblazer's Bounty mixed up with 1-10 Tainbreaker's Trail. 1-10 is repeatable, 1-05 is not.

I don't know if people are confusing 1-05 and 1-10 (because of the names), but there is frequent confusion about 1-05 in isolation because Paizo put "Repeatable" in the PDF.

And also it's exacerbated by the website telling game reporters that every scenario is repeatable - every game reported gives a message "This scenario is repeatable" so everyone is desensitized to the message.

It's tough love. How will they learn not to split the party if they don't suffer the consequences?

    ______________________________________________

Way back at the dawn of time when dice were so poorly constructed that merely rolling them knocked off all the edges and you could only read them if you'd bought the crayon to darken them in, one of my players suggested caution and another player said "Nah, you know <Tarondor>, he's not going to let anyone die!"

Oh boy. I had a reputation as a softie.

Ever since, I let the dice fall where they may and leaned into hard encounters to make them a fight for the PC's lives. I've never heard a single complain about it, either. I keep a folder that contains the character sheets of all the PC's I've killed over the decades, going back to the '70's. It's several inches thick.

Honestly, I'm not -trying- to kill them.
