Wanting to get into a Playtest game? Disappointed that they're all full? Feel you can get a 5th level character together by Friday? Well I"ve got good news and an opening for you! My game of the Arclord's Envy has an opening for a single player and it'll go to the first person to post in the discussion page!

Now that the Frozen Oath came out, I'd like to run it. It involves making level 10 characters. Please download the current playtest errata on September 24, and the archetypes one if you plan to use an archetype.
If another errata comes out in the middle of our game, we are just keeping characters as they, cause otherwise I'd be asking everyone to update a level 10 character.
Who's in? will take up to 7 of you, but will make the thread once I get four responses.

What's your start date? Interested but don't have capacity this moment to start a new game, let alone spend time on creating a level 10 character.

I'm interested, though it'll probably be next weekend before I can build a lvl 10 together. I also need to figure what to do. I want to test the game, but aside from a pure caster, or spellswordish character, none of my ideas can really be done in this system. It's almost like they intentionally want to block anything outside the standard stereotypes.
Notably, bard is irritatingly shoehorned into weird stuff. I used to use them as a general base for noble-born characters (using Oratory instead of music), but that option is right out now.
I can't multiclass (no the VMC nonsense does not allow me to do any of the stuff I want for my multiclass characters, such as my monk/rogue/sorc, nor can I pull a Senior Vorpal Kickasso)
So I also need to figure out what to try (since I don't do basic stereotypes).
Worse, my key spells, particularly Silent Image, are gone, so even a pure caster concept needs some serious work just to be buildable.

I plan to start within a week, as in, character introductions within a week.

What about Illusory Object? It seems like the replacement for Silent Image.
The thing is, Silent Image is very versatile. I once used it to fake a fire on tower we were assaulting (along with obscuring mist to expand the "smoke"). I used it make myself look k+#* a much more powerful caster, to "make water rise up into a wall between two ships" (which gives concealment to those on the other side even if disbelieved), to look demonic, to give strange magical signs, as a flare, as a big sign, and many other things besides.
Now, it has been broken into small pieces, just creatures or just objects, with a vast gulf of things that do not fit clearly into the newly defined spells.
In fact, Silent Image is one of the best examples I can give for why mechanics can not be perfectly balanced. The creativity of the player has a massive impact, and thus Silent Image is too powerful for lvl 1 spell for players like myself, while others would rarely waste a higher lvl slot on it if the best they can think of is an item or a creature.

Recruitment for Resonance Test!
Have space for up to 3 more in the resonance test, it is played with level 5 pregens, so as soon as we hit legal table the adventure will start!

Well, fate has been well and thoroughly tempted. I now have a fair bit of extra free time for the next month or so while I exhaust my vacation time and search for a new job. Sounds like more than enough time for a run of Arclord's Envy!
This is a 5th-level adventure taking place in the wonderful land of Nex. It features some fun investigative elements and plenty of combat. Apply here if you're interested. I'll take a maximum of 6 players, but may want to run with 5; I'll think on that. I've also put up a discussion thread in which we can talk further.

Are there any 1st level scenarios/modules starting up soon?
Resonance test requires a little bit more reading, and it's played with pregens if you're interested.
At the same time, 2 of the 5 players have not responded to the roll call, so if anyone is interested, please PM me. We're looking to get started very soon.

Since 2nd Ed isn't actually out yet, there won't be as much interest as 1st ed. There was a lot of activity when the playtest started.
Also, the updates came way too fast for PbP format. I've had a game where the rulebook updated 3 times and we had to decide whether to stick to the old version or update our characters mid game. Updates have slowed down though.

Put my hat in the ring with a Sorcerer, don't worry, he'll have the Paladin Archetype if we need a front liner.

My biggest issue with 2e is its lack of useful feats. 3/4 of the feats offered are 90% fluff and in many cases you are limited to a choice of 2 or even 1 feat at 1st level. I'll get more interested as supplements come out that provide more choices that have meat to them. I did enjoy the 5th level play test as there were more choices to be made during character construction. The 10th level game would probably be a lot of fun if I had time for it.

Im a big fan of 2e. The simplicity and limited resources has made it very easy for me to rope in new players for my local games. In fact, ive moved to 2e in my local lodge doing on the fly translations of older scenarios. New players get daunted by the old rules and I've lost many players that way.
But yeah, to Chadius point, it was a headache to run at the time of playtest but I still had fun and will be willing to run more games once I've settled down. I'm in the midst of moving to West texas from Asia.

We’re going to be in the same time zone?!?

Now that updates are finished and we can still earn playtest points, I would like to run the Rose Street Revenge, the first module where every is level 1. And the entire module of Doomsday Dawn. I have a goal to maximize my playtest points before the official 2nd edition comes out by playing everything once and Dming everything once.
Post here if interested and let me know which one you want to play, or both.
Edit: We are not using the Resonance test rules. This is a playtest anyway and we don't need headaches by trying to learn or even figure out more rules to the system.
