If interest, please check out the recruitment thread here.

Argh. I signed up in RPG Chronicles instead of the recruitment thread. Oh well. I'll remove myself from the chronicle.

My apologies for the confusion. I went with the Recruitment thread as it has posting times associated with it. If I have a no show, I will PM you.

No worries. I'll join the next one. :)

Looking for one person who would like to join a GM Round Robin of low-level repeatables. We've had a player/later GM drop and thought we'd see if someone wanted to join us instead.

The next scenario is Intro 2: United in Purpose. This is first come, first served but do note, you'll be expected to run a game for the group later. If this sounds good to you, feel free to post in this discussion page

I'm now recruiting for a pair of bounties. I'll happily get going with 4 players but take up to 6.

The threads are

Bounty 8 - The Tireless Path

A caravan is set to depart from the small town of Grayce, but it needs some capable guards. It's up to the PCs to step in and ensure the caravan, and its passengers, reach their destination.

and

Bounty 2 - The Blood of the Beautiful

A Druman farmer posts a request for adventurers to begin an immediate investigation into the murder of his prized alpacas! Farmer Harjack's land is located just north of the town known as Petitioner's Point, and all he knows for certain is that a creature comes in the night and drains alpacas of their blood before disappearing into the dark. As the PCs investigations lead them into the nearby wilderness, they'll need to be ready to bring all their skills to bear if they hope to track the creature down to its lair and put it down before it can harm any more defenceless animals.

I'm in the GMT time zone, so my posting will reflect this!

@Game Master Tea: I am looking to start learning the ropes of PF2e. Do you think any of those would be good options? I could perhaps play with a pre-generated character? A ranged character of some sort should be straightforward?

I am GMT+1

To be honest, either would be good. Bounty 8 has more variety contained within it. Skill checks, conversation and combat. I'm not sure about pregens in bounties - possibly someone more experienced than me could jump in and advise?

Radiant Oath

You can use a pregen anywhere IIRC. I know of someone who used Amiri for B10. In the chronicle you just enter the character you're applying the credit to. For Lvl 1 it applies immediately.

^Yes, you may absolutely use a (Lvl 1) pregen for bounties :)

Thanks!

My two cp, having run B02 on VTT recently: I advise against B02 for new players, the fight can be pretty bad.

If there are new players, I advise the GM to use the privilege afforded by Adventure Mode to alter the fight to match the capability of the players.

Should I perhaps wait for something more noob appropriate? :)

Otherwise I may take Harsk or Kyra for a spin on B8? Which one is ‘easier’ to play with?

I don't think I've played B08, but I've only heard about problematic scaling with B01, B02, and B06. I've GMed the first two and prepped B06 to run tonight and can confirm B02 can be a real problem (I one-shotted two PCs even without the elite template). Depending on what characters people bring, I have two versions of B06 prepped so I can make a last minute decision.

---

If you don't get in to either game offered by Tea (or if there are a bunch of new players milling about), I can jump in and run a newbie-priority Bounty, probably Bounty 4 or Bounty 10.

I'm planning to offer #2-19 (a non-repeatable full Scenario) as soon as I'm finished playing it, maybe a week or so? I'll reserve some spots for new players there.

Vigilant Seal

Would welcome a spot at your table Watery Soup.

Do note that bounties are run in Adventure Mode, so that you are not required to strictly follow the numbers... If you're running bounty 1/2 and have some extra prep time I might recommend replacing scaling with adding an appropriate level -1 critter.

Heck, even give it the weak template instead and add another.

Radiant Oath

Late to the party, darn.

Soup, if you run B10, save me a seat please.

Pathfinder Starfinder Maps, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

In general, you get problems with scaling when an encounter has a single creature at level +2 that gets Elite Adjustment and the creature is designed as a brute.

The guideline from the GMG is “Most combat-focused creatures have high AC and either a high attack bonus and high damage, or a merely moderate attack bonus but extreme damage.” Applying the Elite adjustment to such a creature creates a situation where the AC reaches the extreme or higher value. The resulting creature becomes very tough for the characters to hit, has a good chance of getting a critical hit on its own attacks, and shakes off most magic since its saves were also improved.

With multiple smaller creatures you don’t get into that situation. The characters can still hit the creatures and the damage from each hit is more survivable.

Elite adjustment tends to work when the monster is lower level than the characters, it doesn’t work as well when it is higher level.

Pirate Rob’s suggestion of a second monster with both having the Weak template is also a reasonable adjustment. Weak will hurt their AC and damage, giving the characters a chance to take it down.

Thanks, before this, I wasn't really aware Bounties could be done in Adventure Mode. I will use that in B02. Not B08, though, as I think this is OK.

Need one more for B08 to get going, 2 for B02. Happy to have newbies and a pregen. I've only seen the pregens from the beginner box and Head Shot the Rot in action so far.

Hello all, getting ready to run some Fists of the Ruby Phoenix. Character creation rules are strongly linked to PFS, and the chosen players will get Chronicles for them as we play through. Recruitment thread here

Not just could, required.

Means consumables aren't used up, there are no conditions to recover from etc.

2-05 Balancing Scales

Pathfinder Society Quest #4: Port Peril Pub Crawl

A Pathfinder Society Quest designed for levels 1–4 (subtiers 1–2 and 3–4).

The job seems simple: track down the the pirate captain, secure the agreement, and then return to Absalom. But few things are simple when a den of villainous pirates is involved, and it's unlikely the PCs will be able to leave Port Peril without throwing a few punches in a proper pub brawl!

Now that many of the One Shot #3: Head Shot the Rot games are finishing up, would anyone consider running One Shot #2: Dinner at Lionlodge in the near future. Or not-so-near future.
