This PbP started with Entombed with the Pharaohs and continues with The Pact Stone Pyramid. Many of the characters travelled to Osirion after completing a PbP based on River into Darkness.
Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6 (but Drained 2 levels)
As fireflies, do we have any kind of resistance to fire at all? Also, just as a note, even if we are just 'hand-sized', that's still a pretty darn big firefly! And Sykala, don't you worry your pretty little head about any of this. Cuz seriously? With out our little savage, deadly and (can't think of the word I want at the moment but 'swiss army knife-like') druidess along, we'd all have been SOL a looooong long time ago. Many times actually. So just keep up the great work!
Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6 (but Drained 2 levels)
Ovirid's not old, he's just seasoned. Tarren, where exactly does the chest drop too? And did you say there is a hole in the bottom sandwall yet or not?and boy, this certainly is an interesting module, for it's clear none of the PCs were ever expected to live through it. I certainly see why you picked it
It looks like he hits on the claws and bite but not tail for 18 points of damage. Is that right?
Actually, the elemental's AC is 18 so all four attacks hit for a total of 24. Add the 14 it took earlier and it's at 38 (out of 42). On it's last legs.
Sykala burrows upward through the stone at full speed while waving the Ovirid firefly to join the others. She double moves 60' feet so that should put her at the top I believe (can't run while burrowing). So right with the fireflies at the top.
The earth elemental continues to pound the sand wall.
To hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 Damage: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
Korian, when he drops the chest, it falls to the ground -- the densely packed sand wall that the earth elemental and him are standing on (it functions as a wall of stone).
The earth elemental's pounding at the wall takes him further through. He is clearly past the halfway mark.
As for no one being meant to live through this module, if that were the case, this dude would have wings.
Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6 (but Drained 2 levels)
He doesn't?? Since as far as I know, our only options are to fly and buzz, Korian will continue to do those, long as it's keeping him away from that crazy counting croc.
Ummm, do I get actions during this time? I assume I do since he did a full attack on my earth elemental, picked up a box, and is then casting some sort of spell.
As the weird crocodile-scorpion thing rends the elemental into pieces Sykala motions the fireflies to gather in the corner near her just before disappearing into the wall.
Tarren:
Sykala disappears through the side of the shaft and then reappears above the sand wall It's level with the top of the shaft? Upon arriving above the sandstone wall she shifts back into human form. That's the round he kills my elemental. Do I get another action before he casts his spell? No worries, I understand your probably trying to speed things up.
The now human again druidess reaches inside a protective bundle of reeds sealed with wax to keep the contents dry. She pulls out a tattered piece of parchment and kneels by the side of the shaft reading the prayer off the scroll while placing one hand on the sandstone itself. The stone melts and shifts underneath her hand removing the sandstone blocking the shaft and forming it into a stone sphere that briefly seems to hover in the air just before it plummets straight down the shaft with a whoosh. CRUNCH! KER-CHUNK!!!
She uses her Scroll of Stoneshape (which she picked up in the last pyramid :) to create as big a stone sphere (13' cubic feet) as she can the still both fits down the shaft and passes the now gathered in a corner fireflies harmlessly. Heehee, how much damage does 2600 lbs. (average weight of stone is 200 lbs - Yay google!) of plummeting stone do?!
She yells out to her little buzzing companions, "Come! Hur-ry! Fly Fast!"
How fast does a quickened greater teleport get Mr. Croc out of there? In all honesty, you took a few actions there and Mr. Croc could have acted during those actions. He'll settle for allowing you to temporarily retreat.
Its not until the group gets back to the chamber with the sword stuck in the stone that Sykala even slows. Even then she points to the bottles of gaseous form Korian collected and says in Elvish to him, "Get those ready. If it can reach here we may need to use them to run again." After no immediate threat presents itself she stops her pacing and gives Ovirid a mystified look, "You mean croc-dile scor-pi-on thing? He come nowhere. Sneak up. Want fight me. Alone. Say hurt you. Stay not seem good. If I die...than nothing stop you die." She gives him a frown, "What is? Not nat-u-ral is what is." She seems physically uncomfortable and continues pacing, almost as if trapped, before turning back to Korian and switching back to Elvish, "I cannot become an elemental again today the strain is too much. We need to rest. I had hoped to do so outside the pyramid but now see we have to make do with someplace in here."
So far, you've gone through a hallway with a creature that kept reforming; a throne room guarded by something big and bandaged that gave you access to a smaller room beyond; a room with a puzzle, a room with the pipes where you met the pimped out man; the room at the other end of the pipes; the room Sykala entered that had a wall of sand blocking it off; the firefly chamber; and the chamber at the other end of the firefly shaft.
Ovirid's fine with whatever the rest of the group decides. He's out of his element here, but he will do whatever he can to keep the rest of the crew alive.
That said, if the DM wishes to make secret knowledge rolls (or pretend he did) on the dwarf (or anyone else's) behalf, I'm good with that.
Waiting to see of Ixius' says more about what happened to him because, frankly, I don't know what to make of it. If nothing comes of that than I say we rest right here. If we need to get further away we still have gaseous potions to do so with.
Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6 (but Drained 2 levels)
More exhausted than he has ever been in his life, what with the many strange and harrowing things that have happened this day, Korian plops down and mutters "I am not going one step further."
Very soon after this he has arranged his sleeping pallet and is fast asleep. Jinx sits atop him, beady ever vigilant and bright.
Doing I happen to recall something about a full restoration once someone had got some sleep? Refina?? ; )
Before resting Sykala will cast Detect Magic on Ixius to see if she can find the source of his "tingling". Yeah, yeah, I already know what your going to say is the source Ovirid...
Sykala will take second watch with the lights back on since she cannot currently see in the dark.
You see something creeping from the other chamber. You can't see clearly what it is but the smell is vaguely reptilian. Make a Will save and keep everything in spoilers please.
I don't know if his +2 racial bonus against spells and spell-like abilties applies, so I will just mention it for you to include or exclude. The way I've been rolling, it will be immaterial, anyway...
I still haven't got my copy of the PRPG rules yet and am working from the Beta.
Let's try the point buy system with 20 points (high fantasy).
I like characters with day jobs so take one extra skill in profession, craft, or knowledge (treated as a class skill) with one skill point per level. This represents your background and should add flavour to your character.
Terran, how about for HP, are we rolling? 2/3's? Half +1? or however you prefer.
Well, in trying to answer your question on how to roll hitpoints, I came across in our old thread that we reroll 1s! and I rolled a 1 for my 6th level HPs! So I rerolled and 1d8=7. I owe that one to you Khaladon :) Sykala is one lil tough cookie, that's for sure. I think we went with max 1st level HPs + half +1 (this was through 4th for me) + then of course rolled as you gained level with 1s rerolled. Tarren will know for sure though.
* Max hp 1st Level, then ??? (I'd like Tarren's input as to the final say on this)
* +1 Skill Point into Craft, Profession or Knowledge and treat that Skill as a Class Skill, gaining 1 automatic Skill Point in it per Level.
* Starting Gold?
As per Wealth by Level Chart on p.399 ie. 16,000gp as a 6th Level Character?
2 Questions above and beyond point clarifications above:
1) Are we using Traits?
2) Are we just using the PRRPG Core Rulebook, or are we also using other Pathfinder (Golarion specific) related products? eg. Bestiary, Campaign Setting, Companions, Chronicles, etc... (not 3PP Products as was cleared up for me in the Connection Thread). If we are using them, then what are we allowed to use from them? Spells, Feats, Items, Traits, Races...
Ovirid never had the 'racial hit die' did he? I didn't use that in 'I Swallowed a Bug' and think it is too much.
He did indeed, but I removed it as the Core PFRPG rules do not include it anymore to the best of my knowledge. I was very fortunate and rolled the max on each of his two new levels, so he gained 22 hp when CON is included, more than making up for the "lost" 8 hp.
I don't recall any special hp rolling rules, sorry, so I just rolled them straight up and hoped for the best.
I'll need to add the bonus skill point -- I might have had that before and deleted it because I thought it was an error...
I am in the process of converting Ixius to 6th level and PFRPG.
Since he loses his human weapon proficiency I am going to jigger his feats a little so he took Longbow Proficiency as one of the 1st level feats, then Rapid Shot as the combat feat for his rogue talent.
Terran, how about for HP, are we rolling? 2/3's? Half +1? or however you prefer.

Ummm ... yeah, ... I'd know. That sounds reasonable actually. Max 1st, half + 1 and then reroll as you gain levels.
As for found spells, in the "I Swallowed a Bug" PbP, we went with:
"For treasure, take 2000 gp to equip your character and I will add some magic items worth about 3000 gp. These will be in the form of weapon or armour enhancements for some characters. Choices will be offered."
I'd like to do something similar here, but I can't find the "wealth by level" table in the SRD. Linkie?
EDIT: Ah, I see Flash is way ahead of me. Okay, take 6000 gp to outfit your character, I'll add in the rest as coins, gems, or magic. You may suggest what kind of magical items suit your character concept and I'll give you a choice. I suspect the newcomers may have more cash than those already in the thread. This adventure can become easier if you have cash on hand at the beginning so the newcomers may want to keep some coinage for the party's sake.

Oh, right!! From Wayfinder you can use Dawnflower Dervish of Sarenrae, feats from 'Hunters of the Dead'.
I'll allow other Pathfinder related products on the condition that I either have them or you can provide the relevant text to me (possibly in an email).
Let me think about 'traits'. As the other characters didn't get traits and they are supposed to come at character creation, I'd have to do something different for them such as an achievement feat. Let me think on it.

OK, so I outfitted him with minimal magic items and didn't assume that he still has the magic shield or rings from before (I'd like to keep the shield, though). As far as magic items, he would be in the market for weapons and armor.
Hey, everybody, I'm going to be afk from Saturday through probably Sunday the 20th. I'll post if and when I can, but I wouldn't expect much. Please feel free to DMPC Ovirid if things get rolling before I return. Thanks!
Hey Tarren, Sykala is still carrying around a gold bag given to her by Gorse as payment with no idea how much coin is actually in it.
I believe it was 350gp for each of the heroes. ... You guys left Esteban in the jungle with over 11000 gp.
You did all get your Fetish of Natural Armor +1 from the Ekujae corpses, right?
I'm confused. Are we outfitting the characters from scratch with 6000 gp or using what they had at the end of their last adventure? Or is the first option for newly-created characters and the latter is for the PCs with some more age on them?
I believe it was 350gp for each of the heroes. ... You guys left Esteban in the jungle with over 11000 gp.
Keliwyn, back on the streets of Korvosa, suddenly finds himself overwhelmed with a coughing fit for no apparent reason.
Okay, well, not gold pieces ... unprocessed gold ore worth 11000 gold pieces. Heavy to carry once Sykala sunk The River Queen (that was when I had my coughing fit!;-)) EDIT: No, wait, that was a laughing fit.

Only newly minted characters are being outfitted from scratch. Seriously, that shield is worth quite a bit. If you want to start from scratch, you can, but you'll end up with less than you have now.
The characters are going to meet up in Absalom where they get their marching orders but will very quickly be going to Sothis. Those who came in from the Mwangi on The Harsh Mistress will be making a connection with the Pathfinder Society on the ship.
How did the others become friends (or members) of the Pathfinders?

Tarren. The character I am building is an Osiriani native. I am thinking in terms of story that maybe he can be their Pathfinder contact in Sothis and meet up with them there, rather than meet with them in Absolom. How does this sound?

Yeah, that's what I realized as I was typing the question, thus the addendum.
He definitely wants to keep the shield. He will trade in three of his "extra" Ring of Feather Falling for a mithral chain shirt +1 and trading his four throwing axes in for masterwork versions of same.
I'm taking a quick break while we madly pack for our trip, so hopefully that's all I wanted to do - that's all I can think of. He will hold onto the extra ring for future barter, I suppose. Assuming these changes are cool with you, so I'm updating the character sheet.
I think that Ovirid got restless after all those years traveling with the little folk and went along with a dwarven merchant caravan as a guard, mostly to see somewhere new. Now, he's done his horsetrading and has heard of an opportunity to see another exotic (especially to him) locale, so he's inquiring. Beyond that, I rely on DM fiat to get him to the meeting on time. ;-) Thanks and see you in a week!

Korian will be done in a day, two the latest. One question to clarify something though, are we only able to spend 6,000gp on equipment? If so, what of the other 10,000?
Also, do we have a game thread yet?
PS I had also been planning to have Korian be a Pathfinder Society memeber before you said something about it. Do you have any specific requirements for that you'd like us to implement?

What kinds of magic items would Korian have sought out? I'll throw a couple of choices out. This is intended to reflect the randomness of finding something in the dungeon.

Tarren:
Spoiler:
As to how to spend the additional 10,000gp:
I am going to buy his weapon using the 6,000gp alotted, so I would appreciate some kind of armour as part of that 10,000gp. I was thinking something along the lines of a Magical Breastplate, possibly Mithral. Other than that, you can spend the rest however you like, probably on utility items, like Ring of Sustenence, Handy Haversack, etc... (not necessarily those things mind you, I was just offering suggestions).
Sorry to be a pain in the arse Tarren, but one last Question for you so I can write all of the stats up and finish up:
Spoiler:
I was looking to take the Living Monolith Prestige Class from p.22-23 of the Osirion, Land of Pharaohs Companion.
As it stands, I could be a Fighter 5/Living Monolith 1 at the start of the adventure. It looks as though there are no backwards compatibility problems with using it under PFRPG Rules, other than to alter the Base Save Bonuses.
If this is allowable, I would simply incorporate the 1,000gp used to create the Ka Stone into the 6,000gp available to me (thus giving me only 5,000gp to spend (which doesn't greatly impact how I spent my money other than to remove one item, basically swapping it for the Ka Stone).
Sorry to be a pain in the arse Tarren, but one last Question for you so I can write all of the stats up and finish up:

I like the living monolith. If I remember the flavour text correctly, you'll have to explain how this lawfully-aligned guardian of tombs becomes involved in tomb raiding ...
(My original idea for Akkunhis in the Wayfinder was that he was a very high level living monolith that had been trapped for thousands of years in The Floating Temple but statting him up made him near godlike so I left his origins vague and less powerful.)

Hey Tarren, this is Khaladon, I guess I misunderstood your intentions with the magic items Terran but I'm sure it can all be fixed. I hadn't seen your message until now so I had gone and just picked out (bought) the items I wanted. I'll list them all here and you can tell me what I have?

Tarren:
Spoiler:
I was thinking that he had joined the Pathfinder Society as a means to try and shape the way that artefacts were being raided from Osirion. The inevitability of Tomb Raiders has made him change tactics somewhat. Rather than simply trying to leave them where they are to moulder away in the desert tombs and temples, he wants them to stay within Osirion and be on display and so that Osirion's History doesn't die.

Well, okay ...
Spoiler:
Since you did so much work on it, I'll give you a choice:
You found
1 Immovable Rod
1 Wand of Gust of Wind (35 charges)
You can trade these for
the Rod of Extend Spell, lessor (3rd lvl max) 3,000gp
and the Wand of Mage Armor (50) 750gp
If you want or keep them and count them as having the same value.
Are you sure you don't want to trade in some of those other items for some more carrying cash?

Okay, if you are willing to play along, take the remaining 10,000 gp and spend it from amongst these items. If none of these suit you, then we can go shopping in either Absalom or Sothis but you'll have to do that in the game thread.
Spoiler:
+1 shield 1,000 gp
+2 Hide shirt 4,165 gp
Mithral Shirt 1,100 gp
Dragonhide Plate 3,300 gp -- this came up six times when I was rolling. Weird.

Ring of swimming 2500 gp
Ring of Jumping 2500 gp

Cloak of Resistance +1 1000 gp
Scarab, golembane 2500 gp
Not sure what kind of adventure this is going to be but seeing as Sykala isn't exactly the tomb robbing type maybe you can help me out with some motivations as to why she would be going. She is into seeing new places but more of the wilderness variety. Here's a forest I haven't seen before, cool. Ancient city or ruin? Meh. She always listens to the whispers of Gozreh, however. Send me an email at nyarlathotep9@aol.com if you think of some story hooks for her. If you think it will develop naturally than nevermind.

Just to be clear, what I meant is keep the rest of the list as it was with the option of swapping the rod and the wand listed for the rod and the wand mentioned above. All the other items stay as they were if you want them. Was that clear already?

No I got all of that from the first post, thank you muchly. I realize the items you gave me are more valuable but if it's all the same to you I'll stick with the ones I have : )
next thing, here are Korian's hp for levels 5 & 6:
(I couldn't get Invisible Castle to load. Why is it so hard to find another good online die roller? I tried this one: http://rpg.norwinter.com/konkret/#Results but I don't think I it was able to save my rolls. This what I got, but if you'd like me to roll again once IC is back up, no problem.)
One more little thing, it says that based on Korian's Int and level he would have 8 1st level spells in his book and 10 more additional spells. But it also mentions that Wizard's can scribe any found scrolls or from other wizard's books anytime that want. So, my question is, at level 5 wiz, how many other spells would you say Korian might have been able to add to his book?
After that, I'm pretty much done. I'm just still working on the Pathfinder Society. What I had meant with my previous question regarding that was: Is there any particular societies you would or wouldn't have us be a part of? Or all they all open? Any same for goals/purposes.
Finally, are you allowing spells from any non-paizo sources? Like Sandstorm or Spell Compendium? Totally ok if not, just curious.

Hmmmm, ... treat them as treasure. If you want to rejig your spending so that some of that gets spent on scrolls that are then added to your spellbook and used up, do so. It doesn't begin to get expensive until 3rd or 4th level anyways.

After that, I'm pretty much done. I'm just still working on the Pathfinder Society. What I had meant with my previous question regarding that was: Is there any particular societies you would or wouldn't have us be a part of? Or all they all open? Any same for goals/purposes.
You can be a member of the Pathfinder Society. I'm working that into the story line. If you read the game thread, the gang from 'I Swallowed a Bug' are going to meet a Pathfinder who can make contact with a mysterious Pathfinder named "The Mithral Scarab". You are the Pathfinder with the connections.

Finally, are you allowing spells from any non-paizo sources? Like Sandstorm or Spell Compendium? Totally ok if not, just curious.
Only from Paizo sources, preferably core. I want to be able to access them from both home and office for ease of play.

All right. That's all cool and thank you Tarren. i got rid of my magic weapon, changed around a couple other things, paid for the scrolls to add to the spell book and now Korian has about 1,700gp in cash remaining. Hopefully that's enough for your purposes ;-)
Also, as I don't know much at all about Golarion outside of Varassia, might you be able to suggest a desert and tribe that Korian might be from?

That's great, I'll have Korian be that contact. But is there any specific faction you need him to belong to?

The Osirion Pathfinder Companion is great but I don't recall it having much on the desert tribes. It's at my office right now. Korian should check out the wiki and the various links.
With 9 ranks of in Knowledge (local), Korian would know most of this already.
Reviewing the character build instructions, I think I misunderstood the "extra" skill. I've added a skill point for each level rather than the single point I originally had.
I updated his background to briefly reflect his departure from the Spires and reason for being in Sothis.
Does anyone want a prior contact with a certain dwarf, or are we all going to meet at the Pathfinder chapter house?

OK, phew, after going through the extensive wiki (thanks btw, great source of info) and also finally DLing a copy of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play (and also some help from the Legacy of Fire Players Guide) I finally feel prepared and knowledgeable about Korion and all he is and comes from.
I made some changes to his Appearence, Personality and Background (couple of sentences at the end of the paragraphs) but in a nutshell: He is born of Badawi nomadic clan. After running away from his clan he grew up on the streets of Katapesh city. For the past couple of years he has been living in Absalom and if known to be an active member of the Pathfinder Society.
**Tarren Only**
Spoiler:
He is of the Osirion faction, but is nit quite your typical Osirion faction member. While he does pay lip service to the stated political goals of the faction, really his main concern and motivation in the discovery of and preservation of ancient and powerful artifacts. He has always been fascinated by magic and magic items in particular which is why he developed the skill to create them. To actually hold an artifact of the ancients in his hands though is one of his dreams. Because of his nomadic heritage, he is nowhere near as Lawfully oriented as most of his faction members are and while he does work towards the goal of further increasing the power of the Ruby Prince, it is mainly because he believes the Prince to the the best qualified leader amongst all the other nations leaders to be the safe-keeper of ancient items of power. Instead of indicating all of this on his sheet, I'm hoping that it will come out gradually in play. If you have any questions, problems or additions to any of this, please let me know.
PS, I guess, since we aren't starting at level 1, that this cannot be a legal Pathfinder Society Game?
Ovirid and Korian can enter the thread at any time.
Korian:
Spoiler:
I'm not sure that factions are as significant outside of Pathfinder Society games. If you do choose to have a faction, Cheliax would probably not be the best choice for reasons that may become apparent.

PS I have no problem with Korian somehow knowing Ovirid from before. Perhaps he can be the one to rescue the Dwarf from his current embarrasing situation! ;-)

Ok, that's cool, you can ignore all the faction stuff then. Woulda saved me a bunch of reading if I knew they weren't necessary though! lol, but at least now I know all that stuff : )

I see you appear to have rolled with that idea in the thread, so I'm running with it.

Spoiler:
In my post, I'm alluding to a heretofore undetailed length of time that Ovirid spent traveling with a group of halflings and assuming that you, as a Pathfinder, could have been in the region and crossed our paths, perhaps even coming along for a short time if it served your mission at that time. I'm not making any plans regarding knowledge of what you were up to, just that you were more than you let on to the average person. Cool?

Spoiler:
Ya that sounds cool. We can make it vague for now until/if we decide to fill in further details later I figure. For now perhaps it can just be that sometime within the past two years (if that time-line works for you? I say 2 because that's how long Korian has been a Pathfinder. If that doesn't fit with your characters background, it can easily just be longer ago before Korian was a Pathfinder) Korian found himself in the company of the Dwarf (and Halflings) and the two were of some kind of mutual benifit to each other on some mission or another. Likely saving each others bacon from the fire or some such. Vague enough? lol ;-) If you'd like to add to/change any of that please feel free
PS Tarren, I hope it's ok, but I just realized Korian had a feat-Quicken Spell, that he couldn't actually use yet-because he doesn't have 4th level spells. So if it's ok with you I'm changing it to Improved Initiative. If not, that's ok too, just let me know either way.
@Dark Arioch: Loved the line that Sykala is having trouble understanding someone else speak. lol
