Amusingly enough I prefer 5e over prior editions/pathfinder. But I play more 2e than any other edition.

No offense to you Drakr, squishy is a relative term, as you do have the best AC in the party, but looking at how much of a pounding Rakish has just taken, 11hp doesn't feel like much... Will apply same standing order to cutting words, though apply it to anyone with 15 hp or less Krissina continues to ply her blade against the assailants, though acknowledges her role in the line is more to prevent Rakish getting surrounded than any real effectiveness in damaging her opponent.

"Well, either that, or none of our respective contacts trusted the others to send enough, if only everyone would trust each other a little more." Krissina smiles, "I'm afraid you're all new faces to me, but I'm always willing to find more friends. Perhaps, if we get some free time you can tell me of your prior adventures, and I can document them for future generations to study and learn from." The idea that would-be adventurers would likely not read books to learn their skills is a concept that hasn't occurred to Krissina.

I was presuming this, just added item 1 in case I'd completely missed a reference somewhere (I'm no scholar on the history of D&D worlds). Just theorycrafting really, I don't expect definitive answers, but even if I only end up reskinning a generic magic item to have a goblinoid heritage it gives your backstory out of the background.
I'm a 5e convert, and I'd like to give the reasons why... Pathfinder requires planning. I prefer my characters to grow organically and it doesn't feel like you can do this in Pathfinder. All the interesting feats come as part of chian. It feels like you either have to plan for the expected level in a campaign ahead of time, or suffer with less power. Pathfinder has too many options, this is a non-argument for many people, but during chargen I stricken with ridiculous analasys paralasis, constantly thinking that there should be a perfect feat somewhere if only it had a logical name... Not to mention Archetypes (why did you not learn from the mess of AD&D2's kits) or massive number of classes. I know some people like this sort of thing, but it feels like Magic the Gathering, where more than half of the game is building. In D&D 5, it feels liberating, a couple of pages of feats, which feel fare more meaty than PF/3/.5 and don't get stricken with prerequisites. You can make characters fit what you want to in most cases that I've tried. Perhaps its because I'm getting older, I used to love scouring Dragon or the complete handbooks for new character options, but now I just want to actually play the game. Also I'd like to say that it strikes a middle ground, I don't actually like rules-lite systems either, I've tried FATE, Savage Worlds, a few OSRs, I still play AD&D2 as some of my players prefer it, and a fair few others, but most of them just don't feel like they have the meat on their bones. I'm not going to dismiss people that like other things, and I love reading new rulesets and even just creating characters in multiple systems to see how they feel different, but I can't gather much enthusiasm for creating characters in PF any more.
For reference the basic system is you roll 2d20 and each result under your
e.g. Sigrid tries to seduce the guard, the GM decides that he's not particularly loyal so is only D1, her Persuade expertise & focus is 3, plus her 12 Personality Persuade(15E/3F): 1d20 ⇒ 191d20 ⇒ 4, so it's pass, and if I'd rolled 1 less I would have had 2 successes and could have either saved or spent a momentum. The online character creation tool posted up earlier is quite good, and you can get a fair idea of what you can do without knowing the mechanics behind it. I created mine manually then used the tool to "check my work". One thing that is worth noting is that each skill has a talent tree, when creating a character you may only see the initial option, but most skills have one initial option, then 2-3 branches to go down. Only thing I'm not sure about is that it seems to have given me Alchemist and Healer's kits... can't find anywhere in the book that tells me I should have them, though I might have missed it.

Lys tries to avoid fighting, as a rule, and she certainly doesn't want to strike first. However she's not going to let these creatures hit the one person who seems to know what's going on. With a sigh she steps up a draws her sword, adopting what one can only assume is a fighting stance. Draw Weapon, 5ft step to try and intervene, full defence for +4AC

Hello all,
Not guaranteeing that it will be completed, but I'd like to give it a shot, looking for five Adventurers to take on the task of seeing if it can be done, and how different (or not) it feels run through the lens of another system. Notes:
Attributes will be points buy or standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8), points buy to max 15 as per core rules (racial modifiers apply afterwards as usual). A few additional backgrounds will be in the campaign info tab (hopefully), most replicating + expanding campaign traits that where different enough to standard backgrounds I would prefer if you did Equipment via the packages, though I'll be flexible for you to swap things out for a better background fit. I will not be using XP, you will be levelled at appropriate points, which may or may not coincide with the recommendations from the RotRAE, depending on if you seem to be struggling/steamrolling. I hope to be starting this after the easter weekend, so probably 7th or 8th of April. I will prioritise character choices based mostly on background stories well-integrated into the area (download the players guide for an amount of background info if you're not already familiar), with "party balance" being a tie-breaker. Will prefer 1 post per day, but I'm not a taskmaster, in combat I will GMPC if it's been 24 hours since your last post and your turn is up, feel free to add basic combat tactics to your characters profile if you would like. NB: Initiative will be pre-rolled and then grouped ready for you. Any questions/interest?
