Appearance:
Simile’s default appearance is a grey, near featureless humanoid, not dissimilar to the grey alien stereotype, large, milky eyes, small mouth, hairless and no with discernable gender.
She spends most of her life in guise as Emma Sims, a fairly quiet girl in her early 20s who works in a coffee shop on [setting?]
While ‘on duty’ she adopts a more athletic, attractive blonde female character, though since most of her heroing involves her shapeshifting she takes on this image mostly for public appearances.
In reality while she finds it easier to identify with one gender on earth and elected to be female, her people do not have the same concept of gender and she feels no awkwardness at taking on male, female or asexual identities.
Background:
Simile (Aryala eS’im) is part of the Niaya, a pacifistic species. She was initially sent to Earth to observe and report back, keeping her identity a secret as her species evaluate humanity for avoidance or alliance. However spending years under cover she went native, gained a great deal of sympathy for humanity, despite it’s flaws and when trouble came, she decided to reveal her abilities to fight.
She does not speak of her mission or her race much, though tries not to outright lie when questioned.
Power Suite;
Simile is primarily shapeshifter/morphic hero capable of a wide-away of alteration, along with some minor telepathic/empathic abilities, theoretically her species can emulate any shape, everything she does should be linked to this suite in someway.
Alien
Simile’s species (the Niaya) are a fairly pacifistic species, with a high degree of paranoia. Their homeworld is hidden and the vessels used in their information gathering missions have their homeworld expunged from their logs, relying on contact from their homeworld should they wish to return home (and to make reports etc).
Her species are natural telepaths, in their own world they operate as a mass psychic relay to communicate information, relying little on actual data networks. It’s not quite a hive mind, but the parallel is easy to draw. Interestingly, outside of this system the species telepathic abilities often grow further, perhaps the mind stretches itself more when communicating with less-compatible minds.
The species shapeshifting is near unlimited, and generic cell-regrowing renders the species nominally immortal, in reality few of Niaya have this level of control. Changing appearance while retaining a humanoid form (which works broadly as their natural one). Regulating foreign biologies, particularly with differing numbers of limbs or unusual organs comes with practice and experience, in addition the more different the form is, the more difficult it is to maintain.
