Howdy folks.
I think it's time for me to look into becoming a DM for PFS. I've DMed plenty of times outside of PFS. Where do I find materials to get started?
I'm not an expert, to say the least. However, while learning about PbP in general, I came across Painlord's profile. He has a lot of in-depth guides linked on his profile, including one on PbP GM'ing.

Welcome to the club, chadius, and thanks for giving back to the community!
Recruiting here and letting people know it's your first time GMing play-by-post will generate you plenty of leeway for misteps (you'll make 'em, we all have) and will likely give you a base of players & GMs who can give you pointers and answer questions.
Good luck!

Due to a higher than expected interest, I will be opening a second table for the Confirmation. If there are any more interested players, please sign up on the right side of the sheet HERE
On the same note as the conversation going on right now, I am relatively new to GMing for Pathfinder, and this is my first two-table game! That being said, when I report this, do I get two GM credits, or just one?

GM DevilDoc |

Table II is now full. Thank you to everyone!!! Would the following please report HERE
ShadowKhan
Zykon Gibbs
Caps
N'Haaz-aua
PatheticWretch

So... who like sand?
Two tables for the module Risen from the Sands, launching shortly (this weekend).
The first table (Charlie) will continue on to the Destiny of the Sands trilogy and has one space left for an adventurer 2-4.
The other table (Delta) has several openings for the module as a stand alone, levels 2-4.

Currently in the trilogy with my bard, who I need to brush up on his people skills. Best of luck to all of your tables though!

Auriea wrote:Currently in the trilogy with my bard, who I need to brush up on his people skills. Best of luck to all of your tables though! You are thinking Destiny of the Sands (season 5 scenarios) I think. He is advertising for a RPG day module with a similar title.
Ah, but he mentioned the Trilogy as well. :D So we are BOTH correct!
While I wouldn't mind playing the module at the moment, I'm going to have to hold out until after the weekend so see which character I would like to play after my three days of PFS happen.

ShadowKhan |

Ack ... I have already played the module; would be interested in the trilogy if somebody ends up dropping between the two.

Ok, another reporting question since you guys were so quick to respond last time. ;-)
I know (other than evergreens) you can't replay scenarios. But, if I GM a scenario for Character A, can I later play that scenario for credit as a player with Character B?
What about the reverse? If I play a scenario as a player with Character A, can I then GM that scenario and apply credit to Character B?
Thanks guys!
Next--I have a few different scenarios and I'm thinking of running one. Now I'm leaning towards running the Slave Ships of Absalom. Is there any interest in that, starting in a few days?
I'll take posts of interest here first and if I don't get enough interest I'll make a proper recruitment thread.

That is correct. You can get credit for a scenario twice, once as a player and once as a GM. (Credit going to different PCs)*
*Not taking in consideration GM star replay, which would allow scenario credit a third time, GM or player.

![]() |

Yes and yes. You can play for credit once and GM for credit once. In any order! As long as they're with different characters, as with your example.

![]() |

@mbauers: Yes, you are correct about scenario credit. You can GM every scenario once for credit and can play every scenario once for credit, as long as the credit goes to different characters. You can GM and play scenarios in any order you want, as long as the character who gets the sheet is in tier for that scenario.
If you were to GM a level 5-9 scenario but don't have any level 5-9 characters, you could apply the credit to a character level 4 or under and when that character reaches level 5 they can then apply that chronicle immediately.

GM Tektite |

You replay a scenario for each star you have, so if you run 10 tables and get a star, you can replay one scenario. You will then have to wait until you run another twenty tables to get another star and replay, and so on. Once you have used the replay, it's gone, though there is a convention boon that lets you "recharge" the star replays by GMing more tables.
*Throws fist in air for beating EF, Sior. and MT to the post!

Shifty |

, though there is a convention boon that lets you "recharge" the star replays by GMing more tables.
Though that Boon is tattooed on the back of a sasquatch, and you have to run really fast to catch him because he's riding a Unicorn, and only at cons on the fifth Saturday in February.

![]() |

I do not believe my boon came printed on a patch of sasquach skin.
Another thing to add is that you get the same two replays for CORE games.

I haven't seen one of the boons, nor heard of any of our local GM's getting one, so maybe Sasquatch just dont like our mild to warm Australian weather.

Too soon. It still hurts :-(

Open call for PFS S02-20 Wrath of the Accursed PbP.
HERE is the Sign Up if interested. It is an older scenario, and it is 7th-11th.
Feel free to add the sign up to your list if you like. I'm not sure I'm sold on these yet, but I want to give the sign up sheets a few more tries before I decide.

![]() |

Hrrmm, they told me this lodge had missions available. I cannot seem to find the agent. Is he around?"
I keep getting an error trying to open the signup sheet for Wrath of the Accursed. If there is still room, Lion Shaman 9th available.

![]() |

I've got you down. Not sure about the error unless there are too many people trying to look I see 7+ on it right now, and 3 have signed up already.

"When an old beggar shows up filthy and injured on the doorstep of the Augustana Pathfinder Lodge in Andoran and demands to be recognized as Andoran's one true Emperor, Venture-Captain Wallace is inclined to chase him off. But when the old beggar reveals a wayfinder and tells a tale of demons and portals to another world beneath the streets of Augustana, Wallace summons you from Absalom to investigate. Will you make it through sewers, swarms, and sanctuaries to uncover the truth or will the dangers of the Augustana underworld consume you forever?"
I've been playing PbP for about a year now, and have finally decided to take the leap into GMing a game. I'm going to start with a scenario I've already played and enjoyed, 0-13: The Prince of Augustana. I'm planning on running two tables of it, a standard table and a core table. I'm planning on running a group of 5 players for the traditional game, and a group of 6 or 7 for the core game, depending on interest. I've got a sign up sheet here: GM Alias Sign Up. We will start once there enough players to fill a table.

Signed up! I was new to GMing not long ago. I have to say, I think GMing pbp has really shored up my understanding of the rules. Plenty of time to double check things whereas in-person play you have to improvise for time's sake.
How soon do you want to begin?

GM Bauers |

I'm running The Slave Ships of Absalom in a few days, if anyone is interested.

![]() |

Aloisius looks around at the others looking to answer the call.
"If this is the party, we're all gonna die! All Core casters?! Wo de ma!"
Let me know if I should roll up a fighter.

Signed up for the traditional table.
Signed up for the traditional table! Oh, hey! Lucky! How's Desna treatin' you?

![]() |

Well enough! Glad to see someone who has shared a scenario with me in the mix! Makes for better roleplaying. :)
If necessary I'll add either some WBG 1 and 2 or a level of emerald spire to him. If I don't have to, I won't though. I'd rather keep the GM credit off of this guy.
