I'll be resting my PbP GMing until after OGC (which is the weekend after this one.) Once that's done I'd like to start running:

To Scale the Dragon Standard

and

The Silent Tide CORE.

I'll start as soon as they're filled and it's after June 21.

Also, I'm itching to play through Emerald Spire and Dragon's Demand and I think PbP may be my only option.... hmmmm...

So, I bought the 5pp tavern vanity with my swashbuckler/ninja (nightingale from skyrim recreation build), because of the flavor of it. However, after seeing how easy it is to not always get the additional prestige per scenario, was that a bad idea? I mean, how often will I ever really want that pp in the bank for a raise dead, or a status ailment cure?

Depending on the scenarios, it should be alright once you save up to 17 points before spending them. My highest level character has 30 at the moment, and may spend 20 on a special boon once he has some leeway with stuff...... Not that he'll become a Blakros or anything.......

Also, the character's cha sucks, which is what his day job relies on, so with 3 ranks invested, and with the farm, he has a 5 modifier to those rolls. Oh yeah, the first farm of Blakros.

Thing is, I was level 2, and buying it took me down to 1pp in the bank. I wanted to be a cool tavern like the other cool kids, and now I think I may be regretting it. In the words of Scooby Doo, "Rut Roe Raggy!".

That being said, perhaps if I just play it safe, I won't be in any deep doo doo...

Some quick questions about inventory tracking sheets.

(Funny story there, I was actually looking at the boons one can have for owning the Pathfinder Tales novels when I discovered them, and I have several of the novels...)

So, I just recently discovered that we are supposed to be using the inventory tracking sheets. Now, I haven't seen any characters mention them in PbP, nor GM's asking to see them, just people recording purchases in thread and on their alias. Granted, I haven't exactly checked every character I've played with, so probably many of them have them linked to their alias or something.'

My question is, does PbP enforce them? Are they absolutely required at cons? Also, in the case of the Pathfinder Tales novels, how does one prove they own them over PbP? Is it an honor system?

Geez, just when I think I have it all figured out, something like this pops up and reminds me I am still wet behind the ears...

Yep...I'll wait and see which character is needed the most before deciding, once the DM links the gameplay thread. And please, when the time comes, let me know which you prefer. I'll try to run the one the majority prefers to help fill any holes that we might have.

Long story short...

* Run some sort of ITC. Personally I maintain all mine as a googledoc sheet for all my characters. I periodically reprint as required when attending table top sessions along with my most current character sheets etc.

* As a GM, I don't usually ask to see them, in either F2F or PbP, unless you pull something that strikes me as 'odd', in which case I will take a keen interest. This has been my experience also as a player more broadly in the numerous PbP's I have been involved with under a multitude of GM's.

* PbP enforces them the same way as F2F, it is still PFS play, and so all things remain equal

* Yes, the honour system applies, in PbP just like F2F.

Lastly, and most importantly...

You will quickly work out which people are full of 'it', you will then either punt them off or they will work out you are on to their shenanigans and leave quickly.

Spend your time focusing on trust and building a fun PbP environment and just roll on from there. Some players are going to cheat, it happens in both environments, don't get caught up in having to police all that stuff because frankly it just turns into a chore and detracts from your time and effort, and often from your players entertainment.

Getting back to the novels, the problem is that you need a GM to sign your chronicle in order to USE said Chronicle, and that is a touch annoying - I suggest find a buddy GM and send them a photo of your book collection. Also send a copy of all the relevant PDF's and they can sign scan return for you. It is a unique pain in the behind but not too bad if they don't have to go fishing for all the PDF's to sign off on.

I use them. You don't need 'em much at level 1, but as you get more gear and have more purchases and sales to record they become more useful. For PbP I use an excel spreadsheet, but I always update a physical copy for characters I bring to live games.

Thanks Shifty. I just like to make sure all of my stuff is done right, that way when someone does look at everything, I'm all set. I'll probably work on filling out the ITC's over this weekend. With 9 active characters, it may end up being an exercise in time consuming busy work more than being difficult. Plus, it'll help me condense everything for myself as well, because even at level 2, I'm starting to notice that it's a bit... hodge podge trying to keep track of everything on an alias character sheet. The tracking sheets look like they will be a bit better for laying it all out clearly. For instance, with that tavern vanity, it was just laying on my alias sheet all by itself underneath an empty background spoiler. (Also, when you purchase those, do they have to be done on a chronicle sheet, or can they be purchased in between scenarios as long as they are documented somewhere that the pp was spent?). I am going to section off my ITC's to have areas specific to whether or not something was purchased with pp or gp.

As for the books, I will definitely do that. While none of those boons are particularly amazing, they are still fun little things to have around, I suppose.

It's ok, I had transcribed those out from the chronicle notes as the character went through an L1 rebuild :p It got a little untidy there, but as you can see it is also all in alphabetical order... I'm not normally that retentive, but once ordered it could then be copy/pasta to an equipment list.
