Dax immediately notices the odd map as well as the bookmark, and picks them up. "These are interesting. I wonder what this map depicts? Surely this is not history." The bookmark is pocketed. Dax enjoys reading, and this sort of bookmark would be a nice addition to the hydromancer's collection.

As Talon searches, he scans for magical auras, as well.

Running Detect Magic as he sweeps this room.
If we find nothing more, Talon will suggest we keep moving in the clock-wise plan.

Detect magic finds that the map that was picked up is magical.

Spellcraft DC19:
The map also partially works as a magical scroll of dimension door.

The next door you enter is a heritage stack. Similarly books lie all around messily due to the flooding.

Perception DC15:
You note a piece of scrap which looks like a fragment of the scroll you are looking for.

Perception DC20:
In the corner of the room, partially submerged in the water, you notice a 15 foot sphere of what you can tell is darkness.

Bambang studies the map and realises that it is a scroll of dimension door. Using his Object Reading ability.

How about the bookmark?

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Bambang spots the scroll scrap, as well as the sphere of darkness.

"Yes, another piece of the scroll. If we can find all the pieces, we might be able to capture the Fox in it."

Turning to the sphere, Bambang approaches the sphere and reaches in.

Liberty's Edge

Mosquito Witch Handouts

I'm not sure if i'm interpreting this correctly, but the bookmark is a bookmark of deception, it has nondetection, so I assumed that it can't be detected by detect magic, and hence no one suspects it's magical. Handouts is updated with that scroll fragment.

Bambang:
As your hand reaches in you feel nothing immediately, but after searching, under the water, you feel an open book.

Given Bambang's effectiveness, is there more searching to be done in the current room? And are we in B2? or B3?

Liberty's Edge

You've move from B2 to B3. Last room left is B4. There's no more searching to be done, but to investigate the darkness sphere.

caster level check to detect magic on bookmark due to nondetection: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 I suspect that fails so Bambang does not notice anything special about the bookmark.

"There's something in here!" Bambang exclaims, with a tinge of excitement in his voice. "Seems that a spell of darkness has been cast on the object. Likely to hide it. But moving a 15-foot sphere of darkness would be awkward. Hmm, I wonder..."

With some difficulty not being able to see anything within the darkness, Bambang places the book into his backpack which immediately blocks the "darkness" from emanating from the book. "Well, unless someone has a way to remove magical darkness, this is the only way I can think of until we return it back to the Lodge and have it removed."

When light returns to the area around him, Bambang gives Hanzo a look.

Bambang:
if you had close the open book, the darkness recedes back into the book. And would have note it is indeed the book you are looking for.

Going to skip a check in the last room, as Dax has so cleverly figured this out to begin.

The door to the last room, the dictionarium is closed, after a few tries, the door opens to reveal a very dry room, with very little water accumulation on the ground thanks to the shut door. This large chamber is crammed with desks and lecterns designed for copying scrolls and manuscripts. Along the north wall, a tall, broad shelf sags with sheaves of parchment, while near the exit to the south, a stack of ceramic ink jugs stands near wall-mounted racks of quills. Two bays of windows on the west wall offer an impressive view of the Lodge’s greatest landmark, Skyreach Tower, while the eastern windows overlook the library’s main stacks.

In the middle of the room lies a giant croc, just laying there, but it looks too real to be fake. In the end of the room, Master Shane seems to be sitting down, studying a bunch of scrolls, he looks up at your entrance. "Well? Did you identify the source of the water? Did you stop it?"

Talon pulls a vial from his belt, shaking it up to activate its ingredients as he mutters a few power words. Then he drinks it. His form shifts and stretches until he's no longer himself, but a cave-dwelling lizard-man.

He stomps forward, trying to relieve his new pathfinder friend. "I'm coming, Hanzo," the troglodyte-Talon hisses.

Cast Alter Self into a Troglodyte. Then move forward adjacent to the croc.

The croc had thought he had gotten a good chunk of Hanzo, however Hanzo's quick snake like motions avoid all but a nasty tail slap. Bambang on the other hand dishes a clean slice to the fox while Talon gets into position to help out the injured Hanzo.

Hanzo, I was confused at first how you used sense motive as your AC until I did a bit of digging, what would help is if you would reference the ability next time so it'll be easier for me to search it up.

Dax lashes out at the crocodile, as the fox seems to have other problems. It wouldn't do for poor Hanzo to fall victim to its strikes. Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Selter's not been around for awhile, so we'll just move forward without him for now.

Dax's ice cold splash accurately hits and (cold) burns the crocodile, enraging it slightly. The Fox decides that the best offense is defense, moves back a little and tries to confuse Bambang by chanting out some magical mumbo jumbo.
Bambang, need a DC18 Will save or be confused!

Recruiting for the overflow archives! This will be a standard game.
This is a tier 1-5 game, I would like to host 2 tables, one high and one low tier game, but with enough interest I might host one more.
There are few reserved spots, maybe 3, at the moment.

Please read my profile on my expectations as GM, if you have before, do read again as I've updated it today.

For interest, please post your class and level. I'll likely plan to start this in around a week's time.

Hey there, I'd like a spot in the low tier game with: Arcanist, Tiefling, 1st level. Thanks!

I'd be interested in a spot in the low-tier game with This 1st level Elven Wizard.

I am new to Pathfinder society and pretty new to Pathfinder as a whole, so bare with me if I've done something wrong.

The Exchange

Count me in!

I have a melee druid, melee inquisitor, or healer oracle that could all go in the high tier. I would prefer to see what is needed at the table.
If you end up not having a high tier table, I have several that I want to start for the low tier.

The Exchange

I would like to join the low tier table with this character. She has finished her first scenario and I need to update before we get started.

Grand Lodge

"Hi! I'm Ai!"

Ai is a 3rd level Mesmerist, focusing mostly on casting rather than melee or ranged combat. She'd be happy in either tier, but would prefer high. Thanks for the opportunity!

Grand Lodge

A tall, young kellid steps forward. "I'll help," he says mildly, neutrally.

Level 3 melee Wizard. :D
I could play low or high tier.

Dark Archive

A tall Chelaxian man appears, nodding to himself. "This'll do."

Another for low-tier if you have room.

Grand Lodge

"Hi Talon! Have you decided to hear the glorious word of Picoperi?!" Ai waves.

The Exchange

Can join with Baied when we finish the previsou adventure, or another character (Melee fighter L1)

Grand Lodge

Talon shakes his head, caught between surprise, mirth, and annoyance. "Hey, Ai. Not today. Picoperi will have to wait for another convert ... again."

Good to see ya, Ai. :)
Hopefully we can game together again.

The Exchange

"This seems a welcome respite from heavier matters..." says a small gnome, a chunk of ice floating nearby as if a shield.

Level 4 Kineticist, high tier obviously. Also, congrats on GM star 1.

Dark Archive

"I'd love to go on another missssion," a hulking nagaji hisses, trying very hard to avoid words containing the letter 's'. "It's been a long, long time sssince I've been given one."

Nagaji Oracle 1/Bloodrager 1 here. Need to fix him up for PbP, shouldn't take long.

Grand Lodge

Elris would be quite willing to join either high or low tier as he is level 3.

Dark Archive

I'm interested, and I can run low or high tier. Just tell me which table you want me to sit at and I'll bring a character.

I'm also interested in the low-tier tables. I have a level 3 Illusionist and a level 3 halfling fighter open.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, so far, if this is ok with everyone:

I have one more spot for low tier, I'll likely stop recruitment once that spot is filled. Also let me know if I missed out a named.

Grand Lodge

Very cool. Can't wait for it to be kicked off. :)

Dark Archive

GM Evil here. I'll be bringing this guy, just have to level him up to 5.

So for the high level table we have
Kuey - ?
GM Evil - 5th monk/rogue
Dax Rya - 4th kineticist
Jian Wei Ai - 3rd level mesmerist caster
Elter Ego - 5th melee druid or 4th healbot oracle (I forgot the inquisitor is 6th now)
Talon - 3rd melee wizard ?!?

GM Batpony, do you know what Kuey is bringing?

I'm thinking I should bring the 5th level druid for a bit extra meat shield since we have a couple of 3rd's. But if Kuey is bringing a 5th level melee type, maybe the healbot would be more help.

ElterAgo wrote:

Why does everyone react this way? :P

Seriously, though, he's contributed decently so far, and I hope to continue the trend. If folks are uncomfortable with having this unconventional character, I have a melee Warpriest 3 I could bring instead

Grand Lodge

Can confirm: Talon is solid enough. It's possible that at higher levels, he'll fall off, but so far he's been good. Turns out a large Strength bonus and a big weapon go a long way.

I guess if 3rd level is good enough for the high-tier table, I can swap for balancing purposes. Whatever makes things easier for table balancing.

Grand Lodge

It looks like there's still one spot for low-tier available, so here's Constantin the Azlant!

Fresh Human Bard 1 (Flagbearer) - I'll upload his profile later tonight.

Dark Archive

Melee wizard builds are great at low level, not magus or warpriest great, but still great. I had one in a Jade Regent game that didn't do to shabby.

They do tend to fall off later, but hey, that's what the spells are for right?

Dark Archive

Also GM, as far as Hanzo goes, he uses Dec to damage on his unarmed strikes, and snake style allows him to use his MASSIVE sense motive check for his AC as an immediate action. Other than that, he's your regular old monk/ninja/secret assassin (shhhhhh... If you tell anyone he'll have to... silence... you.).

Scarab Sages

This wizard is...a wizard. With Colour Spray cause I heard it's pretty boss at low levels.

Dark Archive

As long as we're mentioning shenanigans, Yesmoro has the Misfortune revelation, allowing him to give or force a reroll once per person per day. It can only be used once per round as it is an immediate action. It might be a bit clunky in PbP, but I suppose I could declare and/or make the reroll (since I could see the bonuses behind it) if I can post before you. That would restrict its usage a bit, which could be a good thing in this case, though.

Yah, I'm hoping to patch up that fall-off by taking a level of Bloodrager (w Extra Rage) and going Eldritch Knight. My hope is to be able to use Polymorph spells to give me combat oomph and flexibility. But I'm aware that he may only ever be okay.

Until we get a true shape changing warrior (who isn't a tree-hugger), it's the best I can think of.

Liberty's Edge

Kuey's got a 3rd level occultist.

Since all spots have been filled, I will start to put up discussion pages, and gameplay pages in a day! Also I'll update here and the flaxseed recruitment page to let everyone know which table to run to!

Dark Archive

That's a good idea Talon. I hadn't considered Bloodrager/Eldritch Knight before. That could work out swimmingly.

Grand Lodge

Hopefully. We'll see. I hate to delay getting higher level Polymorph spells by 2 levels, but if it keeps his accuracy up, its likely worth it. :/

Dark Archive

Yeah, I would feel the same. An Eldritch knight with Bloodrage and possibly rage powers sounds delicious though. I might tinker around a bit with a build like that myself. I'm currently trying to work on an Asmodean Advocate Cleric/ Summoner that could possibly go into Mystic Theurge, and would focus completely on summon monster spells and conjuration spells. It might work, it might not. Not sure yet. Still digging through feats and builds to see what I can put together.
