I should have my 5th Glyph by then, so I may have a hard time being viewed as a student.
Good point -- 4 glyphs is still a numbers game...
Massee
Yes, I'm a Sucker and I freely admit it.
I am interested, but confused whether I should sign up as a student or a Mentor, since I have been GMing here almost 2 years, but I've never been to school
Definitely not a sucker. Its a great program and I'm glad Redelia and others are still making it happen.

You can also find this in the cottonseed campaign description by going to "PbP Lodges and Guides" and then there is a slide with the "PbP Pregens BB Code" which has them for all systems.

Hmm, my computer is unable to access the drive.
Any chance you got an easy copy/paste for Ezren 3rd?
Thanks!

I'm interested in the PBP GM School! Will there be some kind of sign-up sheet posted here later, or is there somewhere I can go for more info now? Thank you!
Here's the announcement thread which includes a link to the sign-up form.

I need a GM to take over one of my games. Sorry, I took on too much before for I left for vacation.
01-13: Devil at the Crossroads is the scenario. We just got past the first encounter.

This was an overflow game from my recruitment. I might be able to pick this up, but give me a day or two to decide, and if anyone else wants to pick it up in the meantime, I'll gladly step aside.

I'll take it, if the players are okay with the caveats I've posted in Discussion.
Thanks for volunteering to run a second table, even if it didn't work out in the end. The way I look at it, you saved 6 players, as I would have just had to turn people away otherwise.
Best of luck at work. Keep up posting as PCs in any Adventures you might be in, though! haha :D

I've been pondering character possibilities.
Can someone with the Crystal Healer background from Rage of Elements get access to the Crystal Healing feat from Dark Archive? One would think so :)

Not without a boon providing access to Crystal Healer.

When an item has a Requirements listed, is that a crafting requirmeent or a use requirement. Example: Dragon Turtle Scale, which I saw on a chronicle sheet I just got. I could not find an explanation for this under the equipment link.

It's a use Requirement.
Crafting Requirements would be below the descriptive text and are usually excluded in 2e because only a few things need special requirements to craft.

I could be wrong but I am fairly sure that is a crafting requirement based on the rules for reading an item statblock. Please correct me if I am wrong. This was a good question.
EDIT: I retract my above statement and agree with Ebonfist on it being a use requirement. Here is a link to another item with an actual Crafting requirement listed.

Hi all! For this spring edition of Outpost, the organising team wants to know which special you would like to see run.
You can use the form here to vote!
(If you don't play a particular system, just select 'none'. We understand you.)

PSA:
In case anyone else was (like me) an unaware that organization for Outpost (beyond the special) has started, it's started. The thread is HERE, and GM signups end on 2/5, so, like, 3 days from now.
Watery Soup
So, I had planned to sign up to GM a nonrepeatable 1-4 or 3-6, but several of the ones I'm interested in already have signups.
Unofficial interest check for:
1-02 (Mosquito Witch): I don't remember liking this scenario when I played it, but it was the very first PF2 scenario that I played, so I thought maybe I'd give it another shot. I don't think I've ever seen it offered on PbP.
1-09 (Star-Crossed Voyages): I feel like a lot of people have played this already, I think I recruited for it a while back but didn't get a table.
2-01 (Citadel of Corruption): Haha, this one was fun for me even though I'm pretty sure we deserved a TPK. I offered this a while back and not enough masochists signed up.
2-03 (Catastrophe's Spark): I don't remember much about this one specifically, but I offered this a while back and it didn't go, and I ended up running 2-05 (the third part in the series) instead.
2-17 (Lost Maid of Anactoria): I think this may be long for a convention, but I really liked it. Did someone recruit for a 2-17 run recently? I feel like I recently saw it.
2-21 (In Pursuit of Water): This was okay fun when I played it. I didn't read the description and brought a water-themed character. Would not recommend that, but would recommend the scenario overall. I don't think I've seen it offered recently.

I played all of the above, but I wouldn't hate to replay one of them. From the above, I really enjoyed 1-02 (I played it on outpust/gameday in a team of 2 players with 2 pregens ;)), 2-17 and 2-21.

On another note, lately I contemplated that I would love to replay Breaking of the Storm arc ;)

If I can get my act together and prep it I can run it for you...
The only ones I haven't played on Soup's list are 02-01 and 02-17. 02-21 was offered for Gameday IIRC.
Watery Soup
I'd be happy to do Breaking of the Storm someday, but not for Outpost. I've actually been (slowly) working my way up the level chain, I've now completed most of the Season 1 and 2 1-4s and 3-6s (the ones above plus 1-19 which keeps getting offered by other people, and 2-13 which I'm saving for my kids), and I'll start doing the 5-8s sometime, capping off with Breaking the Storm (which is two 5-8s and a 7-10).
I'm focusing on Seasons 1-2 because I've played those in their entireties. I've only played the first half of Season 3 and only a scattered half of Season 4, and absolutely none of Season 5.
(Basically, you can tell how work has been going since 2020, haha.)

I have a quick question: If Archives of Nethys is supposed to be a source of information for us, why are they not showing the new Player/GM Core information yet. It has been almost 3 months now and we are supposed to have been playing with those rules and guidelines since their release in November.
Does anyone know if they are still having trouble over there?

They're still working on the conversion. The last update was on Feb 3rd. To support pre and post Remaster stuff, they have to rebuild significant parts of the website. Combine that with end-of-year vacation time and the classic software engineer underestimation issues, and here we are.
PF2e Remaster Update - Final Stretch
Hi everyone,
It's been nearly a month since our last update (my personal apologies for the delay on that - my primary day job has been very busy) and we wanted to share where things are at so far. At the moment, the main tables are all covered and the remaining data entry tasks for Player Core fall to finishing up a few smaller tables (mostly Rituals and Skills). Once the remaining data entry is complete and we've done a pass to make sure everything works, then we'll release the update to all of you. GM Core will be in a partially done state - outside of the Treasure / Magic Items content, the book is in, but we decided to shelve some of the Treasures for a second release shortly after this one.
As for when this is coming out, I'm afraid we still don't have an exact date. Members of the data entry team have had to do a lot of atypical traveling for work lately (sometimes losing entire weeks) and time to get the text in has been limited. We're hoping to be done with this as soon as is possible.
To all of you who have been waiting patiently, the team and I cannot thank you enough. The changes required to support this Remaster in a way that will keep all players happy has taken a lot of extra work and adjustments, with life outside of AoN throwing extra wrenches the last few months.
I'll end this post with another short FAQ, to answer some of the common questions we've seen lately:
Will the delays in this book offset other releases to come, like Monster Core?
A large part of the delays on this book were because it necessitated changes to the site's code and database structure, a task we will not have to repeat with future books. Additionally, monster stat blocks are a bit more streamlined with custom import applications we have, where-as most of the other areas of the site are a bit more manual.
Can I help / are you guys hiring?
We touched on this in a past update - I don't want to put out that call just yet, but after we're settled with the initial Remaster release, we will indeed be looking at bringing on an additional data entry person to help with our PF2 side.
Ira kroll
There are a few Remaster-specific updates on AoN. I've stumbled upon them accidentally. There is no way to specifically search for them. I didn't think to 'bookmark' them, so I can't get there to link to them.
If I remember correctly, one of them was a mention of Spirit damage...

Question: Is there a reason that the Outpost no longer posts the games here and use Google Maps? I really don't want to have to download/learn 3-4 new programs to play a game when it doesn't seem to be a reason why.
On a side note: I had signed on a game with my 8L wizard, fernardo mattero, but I can no longer find the listing. I had neglected to write down the information and when I went back to look the next day, I couldn't find any entry.

There is no requirement for GM's to do one thing or another in those areas, and what you are seeing is that GM's are free to choose what they want.
This includes games run during a convention and outside of a convention. GM's can choose to offer to run their games here or any of the Play-by-Post lodges. Similarly they can use google slides or some other tool/app, there is no requirement there either.

I prefer the message boards and google maps as well, so I get your frustration.
That said, even greater than that, I think GMs should be given the freedom to decide what tools they are most comfortable using.
If you look upthread, you can find the link to the Outpost games.
And if you are interested in GMing (on the forums, using google maps), I don’t think it’s too late to sign up!
=)

I really don't want to have to download/learn 3-4 new programs
Discord, Roll20, Foundry, and Tableplop (the 4 things I've encountered most often) are all web-based, so you shouldn't need to download anything at all to use them. I think Fantasy Grounds required a download, though. Roll20, Foundry, Tableplop, and Fantasy Grounds have similar UIs, so if you're only a basic user (just moving icons around), you really only need to learn "one." I think Mythweavers is another one I had to learn, but that's also Web-based and it predates the Discord wave.
In general, a lot of very powerful tools were developed during the pandemic when people played a lot of games online, and people are continuing to use them post-pandemic. There are a lot of advanced options on these programs that aren't strictly necessary (for example, learning how to use the character aliases on Discord) but people just like because it adds to the experience.
---
To be clear, I don't like any of it, either (not even Discord), so I just learn the bare minimum to get by on everything, including things like Warhorn and RPGChronicles, which are more signup things I don't like.
As rainzax pointed out, unless more people step up to run games on Paizo/Google Maps, the ball isn't really in our court.
Shifty
I still run Paizo + Google. Even on my Discord 'live' games I find Google slides my tabletop of choice. Simple, easy, free.
There are still plenty of games going using the combo we like so they are out there but yes in the events we now seem really spread out - I argued this point even pre-covid when Mythweavers tables were common and Kaydens Keg was starting to op up.
As to stepping up more, I'm only dipping my toe in GMing 2nd Ed as I did my 5 Stars in PF1 and 5 Novas in SF but my stack of unusable chronicles and mountain of unspent AcP (about to turn worthless) have served as stark reminders that I needed to change my habits to more playing, less GMing.
Chris Marsh
|
I'm also still Paizo + Google. Discord is unusable at my job, and even if it was, I loathe the pace. I'll be doing PbP so long as people want to play.
Grandmaster TOZ
I wanted Roll20 when I started, but I quickly came to value the slide history that Google provides for hashing out retcons and other corrections to combat. I'm hoping Paizo's forum upgrade maintains integrity and improves functionality. I was not happy to lose my game history on other sites, either through old thread purges or platform upgrades.

ACP about to be worthless??? Presumably even with Starfinder 2e, there'll still be uses for it.

I'm very much Paizo+Google Slides. I'm more used to this pace. Ironically, I started GM'ing on Discord (games fill faster). In either case, I use Google Slides exclusively, though I know that it's not mobile friendly.
While I can GM / play on Discord, I prefer not to -- pace is too fast for my taste.

Hi, everyone!
We've had some changes over the last few months in the Venture Team here on the Paizo forums, so I wanted to update you all.
First of all, thanks to Numbat and Lady Ladile for all their hard work while they were on the team. Our best wishes to both of them in whatever they do going forward, and we hope to still see them around the lodges!
Second of all, welcome to Kludde and EbonFist, who have joined/are joining the team. Kludde has been working hard since about the start of the year, and Ebonfist is just joining the team now.
So that you know who to contact with any questions or problems, here is the team, and their areas of responsibility:
Venture Agents:
Flaxseed Lodge, PF1: EbonFist
Cottonseed Lodge, PF2: Lysle/GM Valen
Castamir Station, SF1: Kludde
I'm the Venture Lieutenant for all the forums.
The four of us work as a team, so we all are able to help out in any of the lodges.
You should also know that Bigrin42 is the Venture Captain for all of play by post, both here and on Discord.
We'll be shuffling responsibilities around a bit when the SF2 playtest comes out, so stay tuned for more.
Please reach out to any of us if you need anything, and happy gaming!

Just to clarify, what are the rules now for participating in specials for second edition? Can you play them multiple times but only with different characters, like repeatables? Are the tiers restricted to one play per or one play per character? I remember hearing they had slightly different rules to a regular scenario.
Figured it would be good to get straightened out before March 4th arrives.
Thanks

I remember hearing they had slightly different rules to a regular scenario.
Not only that, but slightly different rules depending on the special. Here's the repeatability breakdown per special:
Multi-table specials
2-00 (tiers 1-2, 3-6, & 7-8, once each tier)
3-99 (tiers 1-4, & 5-8, once each tier)
3-98 (tiers 1-4, & 3-6, can be played twice & each playthrough can be in any tier)
4-99 (subtiers 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, fully repeatable)
The above is just for playing, if you GM you can get a separate chronicle still. So for example 2-00 you can get up to 6 chronicles if you played and GM'ed every tier.
