Pathfinder Bounty #21: Against the Unliving
A Pathfinder Bounty designed for 3rd-level characters.
Written by: Sen H.H.S.
The squire of a long-dead knight asks for the help of heroes in investigating the site of their master’s death. A bleak island awaits the heroes, now inhabited by the dead and undead alike. It’s up to the PCs to retrieve mementos of lost knights and lay to rest any lingering spirits on the island.
Starts: 24h after I get 6 entries
This is an Outpost VI event
If you, like me, would like all these quests to be made repeatable, please comment on my petition.
I would like for us to make them all repeatable so that we can stop having to ask this question every time a quest is offered.

All the bounties are repeatable, yes but only three of the Season 1 Quests are repeatable.

So Quest 16 may have been repeatable too.

In the past, all you need to do is resubmit the event with an explanation in the notes. Posting in the Outpost thread while doing this may also help.

Is this current Outpost or one of the past ones? if one of the past ones send me a PM with what game it is with org play # and I can get it changed.

are we allowed to publicly recruit for Q14 (I'm running it for Paizocon and would like to get to know the quest first).

can we use a replay boon to get a 2nd chronicle in a non-repeatable scenario?
GM Aerondor

I think that is the point. Only restriction is that it can't be assigned to the same character who has already done a scenario.

So it's the same for a GM Chronicle? Yes, you can't replay with the same character...

Yep. No character can have two copies of the same Chronicle.

While that is correct about duplicate chronicles, I do not believe GM’s can use replays for repeats.
I, of course, could be referencing an outdated post or just plain be wrong. But it is what I found about it.

Ah! Ok. Good thing I asked before trying to apply one... :)

There is currently no way to mark Consumes Replay for the GM. They will need to add that to the reporting interface if they wish to allow GMs to gain replays.
Personally, I would prefer they not allow it. Certain scenarios become difficult to gain GM credit for if the same GM runs them too much. Can run out of players who want to play the scenario.

How many days of downtime does the new Q14 give? Still 1? or 2?

Just a heads up for those in my tables- my home internet is down ATM. I’ll post updates tomorrow.

We should probably email that request to Customer Service, as they're the folks who do the stickying.

I understand Outpost to be wrapping up soon.
When are the next PbP opportunities to play 4-99?
If that's Race For the Runecarved Key, it was run last year in a Paizo PbP con. I don't think it will ever be offered again since there are many other multi-table specials.

#4-99: Blessings of the Forest debuts at Gen Con and the note on the product descriiption says it will be available for conventions to request after Gen Con. Historically I think Gameday in September-Novemberish will be able to run it, but this is just my guess since I'm not a PbP VO.

There are no GenCon PbP games of any sort, as far as I know.
IMO that is a good thing because GenCon has both an convention badge you need to buy, and then individual event tickets. Personally I'd rather see no online paid society games and particularly with PbP where they take up a large amount of time I think it's better to have games run outside of that.
When I was a PbP card game VO we had 4 conventions a year (3 for all systems and 1 for card game only). This felt like "always a convention" at times. When our Box Runners (aka GM's) were running games for conventions the majority of the year we saw less games being added spontaneously. While there are advantages to conventions having a lot of signups to accommodate new players there are also downsides. When there are 52 weeks out of the year and most games were being recruited within 1 month period per convention, we're talking about 2/3 of the year games just weren't being recruited for the card game, and new players would have to wait for a convention or hope someone spontaneously chose to start a new game.
The systems aren't exactly similar so it isnt a perfect analogy, but personally I think it is good to have some balance between conventions and non-convention games, particularly in PbP where the conventions last so long and GM free time to run/offer games is a finite resource. Add a paid conventions to the mix and things get muddied further, now you have chunks of time where players need to sign up within a specific window, but also they need to pay to play which isn't a great thing.
In short, IMO it is better to have relatively few PbP conventions, and that these conventions be free. This keeps games accessible to new player and those who for some reason or another cannot do paid games (such as no access to credit card, financial situations, relative strength of local currency, etc). This is actually why the Organized Play Online region normally requires games advertised in our lodges to be free. The notable exceptions to this are the paizo-sponsored conventions (paizocon and gencon).
could there be Gen Con pbp specials? is it possible? for 1ed, 2ed and SF?
I'm not sure it is really all that great to have a PbP Gen Con game anyway. One month later typically is when Gameday starts. That isn't enough time for a PbP game and having overlapping PbP conventions would be problematic (characters being locked in, for one)
| Shifty |
I'm inclined to agree with you Redeux, I am happy to pay to play for these conventions, but I'm hard-pressed to see where the money went. It doesn't seem very 'convention', it just feels like our regular PbP games but with extra steps.
The PbP community here does just as good a job (if not better) than the bigger cons, due to the introduction of AcP the rewards are (basically) the same, and the last thing I need is more AcP, I can't spend the hordes I have. If it wasn't for the multis there would be no reason to attend the pay-to-play bigger cons.
Now all of the above is great, but whilst we are enjoying our 'free' conventions let's not lose sight of the fact that these do require a shedload of peoples time to organise and run - time that is only compensated by warm hugs and thank yous. As a long-time convention organiser both online (right here on the Paizo forums pioneering multis in the wayback!) and physical space, I can appreciate the volume of work that can go into a con, and I can attest that if you didn't do it for the love of the game you just couldn't do it. So thank you for those fine people who give vast chunks of their free time for my free games If you ever meet them IRL buy them a beer.

Speaking of Gen-Con, is there a way to know if a certain game is being hosted outside of Paizo while being offered at Gen-Con?
For example, I can submit my own game to Gen-Con saying I'm going to run 4-02 Pathfinder 2e. Or I can volunteer to run a block for Paizo which happens to be 4-02 Pathfinder 4-02.
Not just Paizo, but is there a way to know if a game is being hosted by Wizards of the Coast directly or any company, rather than an individual?
