Quote:I've been meaning to mention that I am your cousin. You know, the one from the family. Yes.
The first week or two of Alpha Testing will be an internal test with Goblinworks and Paizo employees and family members.
Oh hey, my dear brother, it's been ages. Cousin Ryan! How's Aunt Sharon?

I am actually very very surprised that there is no NDA. Also i am surprised that GW is going to be so open on their development cycle.
I cant wait to see how the game unfolds and see the progression.
GW I would LOVE to see a progression video of the game. For example maybe 10-20 seconds per weekly build. When EE hits release the video. When OE hits release the video but with additional EE video. That way we can see from start to finish how things have changed.
Anyway im very excited. its obvious that GW is committed to the crowdforging effort and keeping open lines of communications with us.
I mean how many companies would post their financial information and development cycles online?

I just don't really see the point of an NDA for a game like ours. There's no plot. There are no "secrets". There's not going to be a race to see who does what "first". You are the content. You will all have "firsts" ("First time I died". "First time I killed someone". "First time I crafted something useful". etc.)
On the other hand there are going to be a ton of haters. People are going to come out of the wood work to talk about how the graphics suck, the animation sucks, the UI sucks, the design sucks, the customer service sucks, the players are toxic and suck, and how 17 years ago I ran a production system for a card game that didn't work.
You are going to be our defense against those people. We are going to say "look, we told everyone exactly what we were doing. These players, fully informed, have engaged and are having fun. Nobody has been mislead. We are committed to a process of continuous improvement and that means that the thing you don't like can and will be improved over time (except that thing I did in 1997, I really can't fix that)."
And then we're going to turn to you all and say "please tell them how awesome you think this game is and how much fun you're having!"

An odd, yellow, goat-drawn vardo slowly makes its way down an abandoned road towards The River King where a magical spell separating it from all the other lands of Golarion is soon said to dissipate. As the wagon draws nearer to the shielded area it suddenly comes to a halt and out a tiny side window pops a very lively, yet very old crone.
"Would 'ye looky there Goaty, glorious eh? Just think all the green we be smokin' and the evil witchy-witches we be 'a burnin'"
<pulls out her enormous pipe and takes a puff>
<cackles>

And that you guys can think that through and then act on it, and not repeat the same NDA reflex of the rest of the industry, inspires confidence.

Today, we are announcing that we are beginning our Alpha Testing for Pathfinder Online!
Nihimon's breath catches and his pulse quickens.
Assuming all is going according to plan we will begin distributing Alpha access to Alpha backers on the week starting Monday the 16th.
Nihimon releases a long, breathy sigh.
Okay.

Does anyone with experience in Twitch or other Let's Play videos have a good tutorial for getting started with that sort of thing?
It really is remarkably easy if you go to twitch and follow their links. I was able to do it without any problem in just a few minutes, although I had to disable Aero when I tested by capturing using Monitor View.

Ryan,
One element I am somewhat surprised that you have not yet requested from prospective alpha testers is a dxdiag of their machine specs. That has been a common element in every beta project on which I have worked and is clearly even more important in these early stages of alpha. It seems to me that there is little use in inviting that first group of alpha testers if you don't know that each has a computer capable of running the client.
