Same here, along with the Brawler - though a few of the mentioned archetypes have turned my head the other way.I'm hoping the Hunter feels a bit more distinct in the final product.
I would consider the thing I'm talking about to be subtle but very interesting, so maybe not as much a big reveal but more like the appreciation of a fine wine?
OK, that was the last hint, I swear!

LOL, any bards with high diplomacy in the house? I think we drag a bit more out of this good man.

Tease. I've been trying to organize my thoughts (as best as I can without the final book) about which ACG classes I want to play first, and the Hunter's been a wildcard. In theory I can see myself enjoying a partial caster with a pet focus and teamwork feats ... but I just never latched onto the class in the playtest. I'm curious to see how it shakes out.

So I'm confuzzled. I decided to subscribe for the first time for this book. When is it going to ship for those of us not going to Gencon? We get the PDF when it ships, right?
We get the PDF when our physical copy ships, yes.
As for when your copy ships, subscription shipments should start next week, I think, and it usually takes a couple of weeks for them to finish shipping out subscription packages. Of course, with GenCon being next month, that might cause the shipment to take a bit longer.
I'd suggest looking in the Customer Service section of the message boards. Customer Service guru Sara Marie always creates a thread for a given month, listing all relevant information (such as authorizations, when shipping starts and ends, and which products will be shipped to subscribers that month). You can find the thread for August HERE.
EDIT: Also, majorly ninja'd by Joe M.!

It's also worth noting that you will get an email towards the end of this week. It'll start 'In the next few days...'
This is not your shipment email. It is the authorisation email. It lets you know that they will be taking money soon, so you can get your ducks in a row. It will also involve them checking with your bank that your card/account is still valid.
Sometime you will get another email. This is when your shipping label spits out of the warehouse printer. At this point, your order is final (although will probably not be in the actual box). You will be charged, but you will also have access to your PDFs. Your package may take a bit to get packed, picked up & into the shipping network, but it will be making it's way along that pathway.

I saw the end shipping date is the 22nd, that means that we'll get the PDF after the 14th?
Subscribers will get their PDF when their order ships (as normal). Normally, our retail release date for products (which is also the release date for PDFs) is the last Wednesday of the month, but since GenCon is our retail release this month, the release date is the 14th. While we hope to have subscription shipments done before the 14th (because our warehouse rocks), the 22nd is the listed end shipping date as a margin in case there are any issues.

2-page excerpt from the Advanced Class Guide showcasing Ranger and Rogue archetypes.
[Edit] The Underground Chemist looks like a fun archetype for the Rogue. Add Int mod to alchemical item damage, and you can sneak attack with alchemical splash weapons. Bonus, you can take a limited selection of Alchemist discoveries in place of Rogue talents!

![]() |

I'm a big fan of how those archetypes are designed, all seeming to be explicitly made to give the Class they're for some other Classes toys to play with. The Rogue Archetypes are a bit weak...but heck, what'd we expect?
Also, the Hooded Champion (official Robin Hood Archetype is go) is terrifying at 11th level or higher. Signature Deed (assuming they can still get this or the equivalent) + the Dead Aim Deed = Touch Attacks on all your attacks forever (at least within the first range increment). Losing +2 each to-hit and damage hurts, and you get slightly MAD...but damn, that's just absurd on an Archery Ranger. Unless I'm reading something wrong, of course.

I think you are limited to one attack per round with the touch attack.

Yeah, it says when you make a single attack, you can spend a panache point to make a range touch attack with your bow. So if you make multiple attacks, you won't be able to use it.

I'm not digging the underground chemist. Its a little bit vague. Specifically, it doesn't mention if your sneak attack damage is only applied to the target of a direct hit from your splash weapons or against all targets of the weapon that are flat-footed. Finally, without a way to better sneak attack with ranged weapons, the archetype isn't going to be very useful except during a surprise round or until you get Shatter Defenses.
From the ranger, I really like the hooded champion (clearly a Robin Hood archetype, right down to the fact that you still use your Charisma modifier for the ranger's panache). I also like the divine ranger; choosing warpriest domains was not something that I expected, but it turned out being very cool. Especially the free proficiency with the ranger's deity. Adds a lot of credence to the deific combat styles from Inner Sea Combat.

I'm a little lost on the counterfeit mage's 6th level ability to use Dexterity in place of Charisma for UMD checks. Apparently instead of forcing himself on the wand to make it work, he... waves it around more dexterously?
I'm a little lost at the idea of questioning this ability, it works because it works. We are talking about a ability that has no correlation to the real world. Why is Charisma so much more realistic than Dexterity? Or am I misinterpreting your statement?

Thanks for the sneak previews.
Two questions:1) Is there a Dex to damage feat (that all can pick)?
1a) If, no: Any way to easily get it by multiclassing?
2) Are you pleased with the shaman spell list?
Four more if you are up to it.
3) Do Investigator and slayer still get access to trapfinding?
4) Any feat or trait that grant trap finding?
5) Any Skald Archetype that get Inspire Courage?
6) Any cool Bard or Skald magic toys

Swish and Flick, it's all in the wrist. I think of it more as Somatically manipulating it into working as opposed to Verbally commanding it to function.
We need a Strength based ability like this now, so we can make that cool "Fonzie" character who smacks it and makes it work. :D
(Kidding aside, I think it's an interesting twist on an ability.)

Fonzie is obviously powered purely based on Charisma. If anything, he'd have a special ability that allowed him to use Charisma in place of Dexterity or Strength in certain situations.

No idea. I'm just going based on the linked two-page spread, not any inside knowledge.
Four more if you are up to it.
3) Do Investigator and slayer still get access to trapfinding?
I presume so, since someone almost certainly would've noted otherwise in the Investigator preview post if they'd lost it..
4) Any feat or trait that grant trap finding?
No clue.
5) Any Skald Archetype that get Inspire Courage?
I doubt it. How would that be different from a Bard?
6) Any cool Bard or Skald magic toys
Probably. No real idea, though.

Please tell me your taking lots of this book to GenCon. I won't get there till Saturday.
[shamelessplug] If you want to guarantee you get one, you can always be top bidder on my ENnie dream date. Winner hangs out with me during the cocktail event beforehand, sits with me during the awards, AND gets copies of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook and Advanced Class Guide signed by Paizo staff. And the funds help support the ENnies![/shamelessplug]

Last night I had trouble falling asleep after an unusually harrowing evening shift, so I bought a Paizo PDF and started reading in bed on my tablet. I found myself completely engrossed in the book and wound staying up into the early hours of the morning, and didn't fall asleep till about 4 AM.
When my annoyingly chipper alarm clock rang four hours later, I woke up to an E-mail icon on my phone. Groggily, I opened my E-mail app - it was from Paizo. I was elated to see that the shipping confirmation for my Pathfinder Roleplaying Game subscription had been sent out and my product was was available for download immediately! I shouted in joy and ran out of the bedroom (waking both the girlfriend and both dogs in the process)! A Christmas morning atmosphere had instantly settled on our home and both my dogs were infected by my excitement, barking merrily as they raced after me down the stairs.
I booted up my computer and immediately logged in to Paizo.com to download the Advanced Class Guide...
I started my day off with four hours of sleep, a rather disgruntled girlfriend and two dogs literally baying for food and a long walk. At 7.30 in the morning on a Sunday.

Tempting, but I'm saving that for when I get my real shipping notification. On the 22nd of August.

Kudaku |

But it reaches the streets on the 14th. *points to pdf release date! which is also the street date*
If yours is shipped on the 22nd then I believe someone has lied to you.
I'm fairly new to Pathfinder subscriptions, but I think you don't get access to the PDF until your credit card has been charged and your order shipped?
Sara Marie stated that ACG shipping will start August 4th 6th-7th and end on August 22nd here.
So in a strictly a worst-case scenario I think a pre-order PDF could become delayed till August 22nd?
Edit: Oops, just re-read the post I linked to and it looks like they won't start shipping until August 6th-7th.
