Leila pops up from behind the backs of her bigger friends once the elementals are all gone. She nods and beams. "Great!"

Then the excited halfling can't contain herself anymore and rips open her own present. Rip-shred-tear!! She holds a large mechanical claw over her head and stares at it with awe.

"It's 'The CLAW'!! Ooho latest model too!" She mouths some squishing sounds without vocalizing them and an eerie glow overtakes her. Now nothing would stand in her way; not locked doors nor tight jars. Ahahaha! Ahem.

Eventually she snaps out of it and straps THE CLAW to her backpack. "Mm let's come back here later though! Let's go."

Astri's plan sounds good :)

"The water elemental now?!" Leila suggests as she darts away, trying to find a spot where she can put her friends with big scary melee weapons between herself and the elemental. That'd open up her targeting options a bit - but for now she'd pop a shot at the water one.

Trick Attack: Move then Shoot Water Elemental. Movement does not provoke from the target of the trick attack!

Trick!: 2d10 + 19 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 19 + 4 = 34

Attack!: 2d10 + 11 ⇒ (4, 3) + 11 = 18

Damage? Sonic: 1d8 + 3 + 4d8 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (4, 8, 6, 8) = 33

Great idea :P Use up all of the GM's good rolls with Cueta :D

It is through armor proficiency - the comment about BAB was in error and there's a post (somewhere) stating such.

Edit: Clarification (and the question it is replying to for clarity).

"But if we fix this maybe we won't be distracted by more abominations!" Dr. Bluethistle replied, since she was fairly sure that that title was a promotion. Oh! Idea! With a grin she added. "And won't 'Dr' be an extra plushie? Think of the merchandise diversification!"

Down with a bit of fever and still on my trip. Don't feel like I have the brainpower to process the current situation at the moment, sorry!

I'll be home by Friday so then at the latest I'll have the peace and quiet to figure things out. Hopefully before then though :)

So I have a silly idea - our horses have Scent and track is a trick right? So if one were to try a handle animal check to push the horses they could sniff him out!

Too silly? Or worth a shot :D?

"A 'small' war." Illthir corrects Durgan and gives a handkerchief to their small scaly friend. She didn't know him well at all - but if he too had been in those dungeons she felt that they had a connection. "There, there. We'll fix it."

"I'd say Scarlet and a few more head to the crossing and take our spare horses. The rest of us can head back - they'll catch up if they can rotate mounts."

I don't think the spirit will try and eat you - and it might be good to get to the outpost before someone else explodes!

When they had gathered their wits and loot and returned to the spaceport Leila felt that there were something she had to do. Gretal Rapinder deserved some closure - though she wasn't really sure how the undead would take it. But it was the right thing to do. So the halfling purchased whatever she thought would be a pick-me-up, a bony flower or jar of I-really-hope-these-are-fake eyeballs and headed towards the apartment. Of course anyone that was willing to come was more then welcome (she'd appreciate the moral and actual support if it came to that!)! But she'd insist that they wear their fine eoxian-style outfits.

*Knock knock* Leila straightened her dress for the twentieth time and tried again to steel her nerves as she waited by the door. When/if the door opened she handed over the holopic and then held forth the other offering. "I'm sorry ... Your friend didn't make it..."

Note: You need to remove the blankspaces that paizo adds to plug it back into the ship builder. Do so by copying the contents of the JSON spoiler into notepad and use find and replace (replace " " with "". No actual " in notpad of course - you simply put a blank space in the find and nothing in the replace slot).

This is the starship builder. Including some tags so I can find this post easier the next time we are upgrading the ship : )

Starship star ship upgrade sunrise maiden ship builder calculator

---

So what did I chance?

I stuffed a much larger power core into the ship and with it much bigger shields. The armour wasn't upgraded (expensive) but the countermeasures was. Likewise we still have our old computer, but it's a pretty cool one. Our main particle cannon got a small upgrade. I put in a slightly better drift engine as well.

Also the technological and magical item crafting modules. There's a drug/medicine one and they all cost just 1 point (but also 1 of our 4 slots) to install so if we want that one we can simply change.

Basically the ship should behave as before; well above average safety bubble and great missile defense with countermeasures and a flak cannon. We have terrific focused firepower with our big turret but are somewhat vulnerable to getting swarmed as we don't have the million tiny weapons in every arc some ships have.

Thoughts : )?

Halfling in mortal combat? Uh oh don't like those odds! Time to pull out the racial special moves ...

"Eep!" Leila dodged under the angry swipes of the vampire. This didn't feel like a good situation to be in - the new perspective had her notice that the undead had made a fatal mistake. Using her tiny size and jet improved movement she dodged further underneath the vampires grasp going for the discarded rifle. She ditched her flimsy knife for this awesome acquisition and jet-boosted away from the cliff as fast as she could, taunting the vampire. "Haha! Sucker!!"

Move action to pick up rifle and standard to GTFO as far as possible. Neither actions provoke (moving doesn't thanks to her operative exploit) and she ignores difficult terrain, moves 8mi and has jetpacks to hop over gaps :-)

"Haha! Maybe!" Leila grinned and headed slowly in that direction. But suddenly something weird happened; it looked like Astri was doing something reckless. Now that really wasn't odd - but Astri usually didn't risk Astri in these kind of things! The halfling had seen enough horror flicks to know how these kind of things worked. But she was surprised that Astri were the one attracted to a green pile of goop. Maybe it looks like a product placement deal? Anyhow ...

"Astri! Stop. What are you doing?" the halfling cried out while simultaneously trying to trip the elf and distract her by updating all her apps at the same time!

So here's a quick idea I made with this ship builder. You can copy everything in the JSON spoiler and import it and play around with it yourselves if you want : )

This is basically just the old maiden with a few upgrades. Bigger main gun, better armour and the computer gives a bonus to 4 checks - so one for everyone! I think our shield is slightly over-sized but they looked very cheap ... :P

There's also 5BP not accounted for so we could upgrade something more. (Or go in a completely different direction of course!)

Note: I just went with the options the builder offered, haven't double checked if they are legal or not. Just assumed the builder would do that. So if you see something weird ... : )

Nah, still cautiously optimistic here.

Any sort of concrete recruitment were slated for today at the earliest. And I'd expect something of this size to run over the time schedule by a bit anyhow.

Now if it's total silence for another few weeks then I might change my mind.

Outside Trading Post

Jhaelwyn thought back at what little they had seen so far. Which wasn't much - this place felt and smelled like any other large gathering of hunters. "When those that are actually out hunting return, then I think there might be something to see. Will they be bruised, battered? Will they have a prize? Or come back pristine and not having 'found' anything..."

She wasn't sure yet how many that were here to actually slay the mantids. There were probably a large chunk of profiteers and opportunists lurking
about. Abandoned camps were much easier prey then the mantids after all. Maybe she should set some snares just in case someone accidentally wandered too close?

First she'd need to know where they would camp. While she did enjoy pit traps digging them all over the place could get tiresome. "Yes ... A campsite with good view I hope!"

By the campfire, wherever that was

Jhaelwyn didn't really agree with the Maid on several key points. But she couldn't fault her message of good work ethic and the rest afterwards. Especially if hers champions adherence to the first meant more of the second for Jhaelwyn. Yes she really liked this ogre compared to any other she had met. "Imagine if was like the one by the post? Sleeping trough the day - pah! ...Just begging to be gutted ..."

---

After setting up camp the elf spent a long time placing her possessions just the way she wanted in her tent. It was important that she knew where everything were - especially since their neighbors might not be the most honest of people. "Hmhph. Probably a bunch of scavengers and magpies. Hmph!"

"Hsssss!" the elf shows her teeth at the large critter eyeballing her food. Not that the cat was looking (probably?). So she instead went to take a large bite out of the chunk of meat, chewing quickly.

"*Chomp* Pff! *chomp* *chomp...* *sigh* Why must it have such shiny eyes? Damn fur-ball!"

With another sigh she surrendered her remaining meat. She was nearly full anyhow. And if they *really* needed that food they could just eat the cat. Or that lazy ogre by the trading post. Yeah, she decided, she liked the cat much more.

"End of the world *and* headaches? Now that's just excessive." The devourer and his cultists were just as evil as the Saturday morning series had taught her! Still though - headache from just the name? That seemed a bit weird. But it gave the halfling an idea ... What if it could be reversed? "Hmm. If we yell the names of the good divines, do you think we could induce headaches into the cultists? And not *just* because it would be loud noises... I mean it would only be fair if that worked!"

She briefly considered testing it on their new companion, but that seemed a bit mean. The lashunta had been trough a lot. And besides she suspected that it wouldn't work. Ralkawi had already renounced her beliefs plus it probably had something to do with that weird magic anyhow. Ah well!

All right! Leila commed absent minded as her mind pondered the other things. Saving someone (that hopefully wouldn't bite them in the back!) seemed more important then some pet. Besides, it would be easier to alter the bargain when the time came rather then argue now. "Let's get you up on the robo-mule Ralkawi. That way we can keep up the pace a bit and keep moving after a brief rest. Just don't fall off!"

Intro:
Pleasantly surprised the elf wanders deeper into the chambers. This was probably her top three conversation this month! Well, with someone other then herself at least. Usually she had a hard time shaking useful information out of others (verbally at least).

"Mhm! This really could work. With a bit of luck everyone is that agreeable! Or mute. Hmrhm... That *could* make things hard... Maybe?" the elf evaluates the situation so far as she searches for the best chair.

"Huh..." Leila squinted at Cueta. It just occurred to herself that she had never seen the magical woman count. She had just assumed. But ... Well she really couldn't judge her for that could she? Starting slowly the halfling explained. "'Twelve' is the number that is one more then 'Eleven'. And 'Eleven' is one more then the number of fingers you have. So all fingers and one toe! 'Twelve' is thus all fingers and two toes. Now all fingers and three toes is called 'Thirteen'. Following so far?"

---

"Yeah! Maybe it's lonely?" Leila suggests but she could feel the popular opinion leaning towards 'shoot'. Readying her rifle she she nods. "But we can at least try and scare it away the next time!"

---

"'Kinda'? That can't be good. Or maybe it can. Let's hope something terrible happened to the kindappers! *Uh* But not to doctor Sol!" Leila replies and follows the other quietly. It was almost amazing how someone could simultaneously be so silent and chatty. But Leila took great pride in her whisper-technique!

@Brett's Questions - I'm going to rephrase some of them as actual OOC questions since I'm curious.

1) Are the Mantids intelligent?

1a) Do they build stuff (that has been observed)?

1b) Have anyone tried communicating with them (Tongues/Vermin Empathy ect)?

2) If yes to any of the above; does the Dragon have access to that piece of information/expertise?

3) Do any of the other neighbouring realms have any interest in Gelkrosh?

4) What's the general policies of the neighbouring realms? (Interventionists, isolationists, hates X, wants to spread Y ect ect)

And some of my own since well I'm still curious :P

5) What flavour of elves are accessible?

My thought went to the drowier kind - the Dragon has questionable morals, access to a mountain presumably filled with caverns and Poison Use seems nifty here. I mean it's part of the plot and without worrying too much about magical marketplaces and wbl one might actually get to poison someone without crying tears of money.

Plus they might not be quite as insanely evil (or that part might not be common knowledge) here so playing one isn't a constant game of dodge-the-pitchfork.

6) What flavour of giants rule the neighbouring nation?

I think this has been asked, but I couldn't find the answer.

---

On a separate note, I'm sure some of these questions might be answered in the blog. I'll go and look there now : )

Edit: I took a look at the blog and now I have another question!

7) What's the arrangement of Planes like?

(This isn't really something I'll use in building a character - this one is really just to indulge myself!)

"Yeah! They're definitely cute!" Leila grins. This was a lot better then any zoo. Here the animals tried to pet you! And, possibly, steal your stuff. Though that happened in most zoos too - only it wasn't adorable critters doing it.

"Don't worry Astri - I'll distract them!" Leila slung back her rifle, seeing as the sniper was no longer the major threat. Then she ejected a round from her pistol and polished it (in her mind at least) on her not so pristine sleeve. "They like shinies right?"

"Koo-koo-koo!" the halfling tried to mimic the cries but in a softer tone and held aloft the shiny bullet as her peace offering.

Worth a shot: 1d20 ⇒ 6

It was good that they had these critters around - now the halfling couldn't be bothered to think about how tired and hot she was!

Quick question. Age adjustments to stats or age as just a visual/background flavor? Considering making a middle-aged or possibly even old Dwarven Merchant.
Honestly, I'm fine with either - I've made a mage that relied on the age stats before, but most of the time no one wants the penalties. I'm not going to enforce aging (I've never seen a campaign go on long enough to actually change a character's age stats anyway), but if you want the +1/-2, go for it.

"It's very pretty! And bright! Very cool. Hmm what was that about the starlight...?" Something stirred at the depths of her memory. Something out of a travel site from a long time ago. Hmmm...

Slowly and with naive hope the halfling raised her hand and gently poked herself on the nose. "Ow! That stings! Bleh 'sunscreen' that was it ...!" the pained halfling sighed. She *should* probably have noticed her nose (and other parts) turning red. Just to double check she poked at her ear. "Ow-ow! ... This sucks! I need to get a hat! ... But how would I wear it..."

Leila is content to let Astri handle this situation while she searches the network for sun burn remedies. Luckily there were plenty of suggestions. Huh... That can't be right can it? "I'm just worried they'll send something more dangerous and hard to fight; like a bomb. Or a bucket of gunk. Ouch." Leila isn't sure which of the two scenarios would be more frightening for Astri - but it was worth a shot! Besides... If the half-elf were worried Leila could be less worried herself. It's a zero sum game right? "*Ehm* But sure I can help you out! Between Pumpkin, Prospero and I we'll have your space-fight-footage level!"

"Also! It might be helpful for us to go over it, so we can learn a bit..." Leila beamed. It's like a trid and we are the heroes!! Plus she had this special written algorithm she wanted to try out, one that would continuously scale up the size of Astri's hat as the footage played, but she still needed some raw pics to work with! Te-hehe! It *probably* wouldn't be included in the final product - but maybe uploaded anonymously a few hours later...?

"Woah!" Leila attaches her face to the viewing port and doesn't leave until it's time to step out on the planet proper. As the planet grew larger, so did her eyes. "Awesome! It's ... huge! Enormous!! Unfathomable almost - The Station could fit a hundred times!" Probably a lot more then that too! she though, but wasn't interested in running the math. She had already done that twice yesterday but couldn't recall the results...

Outside the ship the halflings neck did a pretty impressive swivel impression as she tried to look at *everything*. But mostly the sky. So wast and big and huge and colourful! Amazing. It's like a kaleidoscope!

So impressive in fact that she didn't mind being squished by Astri's friend. (Well other then the fact that the Lashunta obscured the view!) Well it she was soon enough back to looking at everything again. Awesome!

Ah well! Close enough! Leila quickly puts the failed high-five behind her. It really wasn't *that* important!

"How can Castrovel be boring? I heard it's filled to the brim with trees and elves and flowers and and and ..." Leila suddenly realized something. Something with grave implications. "Squeeee!" Leila shrieks of excitement/joy/horror as her flailing flashlight illuminates the critter. She quickly bounces closer to the the fallen creature so she can look at it with her hands. "Oh-oh-oh! A *real* alien!! Well except Astri but she doesn't really count does she? It's juuuust like in Alien Thing 4; this is obviously a Akata! Yeah just look at the flubby tentacles and stuff. Obviously! They live on asteroids and abandon stations and so hibernating juuust waiting for prey to come poking around. How cool isn't this all!? Very very cool!"

The halfling beams and takes a moment to catch her breath before squeeing a bit more and switching track to Akata fun-facts. "Did you know that they can't stand salt water? Ooooh oooh but they can survive a really loooong time without food. And they are really hard to freeze or poison! Easier to hit with energy weapons too. But! But ..."

Her flashlight bounces a bit until it finds Astri. "... they resist fire! So heat weapons don't work so well! Oh oh oh! Just like your laser. Hmm maybe that isn't such a fun fact? And and-"

Now her excited flashlight jumps to the goblin corpse behind Astri's back. "-and they infect anyone they kill so they can rise as a zombie! So you know if it did kill that one ... Yeah! Awesome!"

The halfling falls silent and her flashlight continues to shine on the body as she cautiously approach. Man undead were icky but this one, if it was one, wouldn't be so tough! And they had guns and so, so it wouldn't stand a chance. Any moment now...! But nothing seemed to be happening. "Meh. I don't think it's going to move. Maybe because we shot it earlier? Anyhow! If the Akata's killed everyone we gotta look out for the bodies. But I don't really think so - I mean if it was just that some mercs could just have cleaned it up right? Ooooh maybe there's lots and lots of them! Or a queen ..."
