That is, both the distribution and the stopping and asking. We could float the idea to those that are the outpost on our way up and ask for replies on our way down again?
Well, that's 1.5 strongly hesitant votes out of 3-ish--a clear majority!!
Right, Fergus?
"S'all right."
Good.

Poked Alia on steam. Apparently they've been at the hospital. Planning to come back, not sure when though. But they seem alive at least :)
Illthir Winlowe
I'll try to wrangle up my scatterbrain for an in character post too, we've just been giving the poor NPCs a blank stare lately. And it seems to be time to try and clear the air (and hopefully not face the consequences of our recruitments :p).
Illthir Winlowe
This feels like trying to herd a pair of estranged relatives together, something I also suck at. But it's a try. And a post

You aren't using the right voltage on your cattle prods. ;)

I have a convention I am assisting in running in two weeks, so my responses will be slow or perhaps non-existent until March 4. Please forgive delays.
Illthir Winlowe
Mm. I'll be gone next week and a few days of the next. So the posting will be spotty as well (not that it'll be a noticeable difference ... :p).
Trying to gather my wits and courage to pop the question so to speak to the present council-prospects. Not great with that sort of things, so it wouldn't be terrible if some better word smith wanted to take a shot. If not, I'll try to squeeze something out before the weekend is over.
Illthir Winlowe
I'm back from my vacation! No wits found, but I'll try and whip up something.
(Oh how delightful was it that our party was swarming with face-y people when I first joined ... :p)
Illthir Winlowe
There. Hopefully quick questions is better then further procrastination at least :D
(And, if none minds; I'm sure any of us could ask these things of the NPCs and those of us with some blips in charisma can help if they need convincing :) )

Well so far so good.
Though I guess we're more of an independent province then actual country now, so hopefully the ascension won't give paralyzing vertigo.
Illthir Winlowe
Should have stuck to the exact terms huh >.<
If someone has some sweet words to set this straight, that'd be neat. If not I'll try to think of something.

sorry for the disappearance. Me and my ISP had a fight and they lost a customer. Unfortunately, This was during a time where I didn't have phone, so I have been unable to give any updates until now. (I have finally gotten my new phone)
When it rains, it pours as they say
Illthir Winlowe
Yeah. The world-weather is a lot of rain it seems. Let's hope things take a turn for the better :)

Happy easter if that's your thing. And even if not; maybe there'll be discount chocolate where you are next week too :D
RPGGGM
Happy Discount Chocolate Week, Easter, Ramadan, etc...!
Illthir Winlowe
Beep boop. Just chiming in to say I've got a shortage of brain-width this week. Deadline on thursday and tiny miniature games on friday. I'll try and slip in some post still, but multi syllable in character post might not show up until the weekend :)
Illthir Winlowe
Just a small boop to let you know I'm alive. Will try to get a medium IC boop in tomorrow, today ran away.
Illthir Winlowe
Pardon, that first comment sucked out all motivation I had. There's too many people irl that decide to be morons to muster the effort to deal with the imaginary ones too :p
Illthir Winlowe
And to clarify!
Or else -> More people and more annoying people will bother you
Not
Or else -> I will ask Serena to skewer you with her sword.
(Though she did a pretty good job with her words :D)
Illthir Winlowe
We should sweeten our deal with "if the nation is successful more elves like Alia might move in. They might even set up a theater ..."

heads up, I will be out of town starting the 12th on a business trip. I won't have access to post very much because of this until that Saturday.
Illthir Winlowe
Blerp. Pardon! I just saw the "no new posts" and happily went on with my day, not realizing it was because we needed to make some posts :p
Illthir Winlowe
If possible, Illthir would also like to try and use her excellent Sense Motive to try and make the rest of the conversation to go smoothly.
She knows from the lich-attack-meeting that Samuel isn't super great at getting stuff said in a diplomatic way...
And it might be handy both to make this a nice experience and see if she can get a more nuanced understanding of the man and his wishes.
Illthir Winlowe
So! After we have debriefed Samuel and gathered up into one happy party blob again, what do we want to do?
I know we still have some exploring to do, so maybe that's the most urgent issue.
But it also sounds, from Fergus poking, that our pick for chief church person might need some help and/or replacement. Perhaps that's urgent-urgent :p?
Illthir Winlowe
I think, actually, that the party has found it. Iirc the lich retaliated because we poked around in it and ruined some fun it had.
Now the issue is, I'm not sure if any of us were actually around then... Which might make things troublesome :p

Alia can inform you about the party's encounter at the ruined temple.
Fergus Bouldershoulder Ironmug
Fergus likes to keep records, so he may have asked about it earlier to write down as well. (IC, not as a player)
Serena Mistcastle
I'm taking a short vacation without Internet access from Wednesday, 5 June until 10 June, and will be unavailable during that time.
Illthir Winlowe
Have a nice vacation :)
---
So then, let's see what he thinks about that tale?
Should we blob up into one group again or would you like the chance to poke the shepherd first?
Illthir Winlowe
Not sure if that is an adorable or horrifying fey. Perhaps both :p
Yeah back to the outpost and get together seems reasonable then take a peek at the temple and see how jhod feels about that.
After that, I think we want some more exploration done.
---
I'm heading out for today but I'll try to get an IC post up tonight or tomorrow thanking our host for the food at least :)
Illthir Winlowe
RE map layout - Yeah, getting a road in place would probably be helpful. They're very time consuming to get irl but I believe in kingmaker you can plop them down quite quickly. Biggest limitation is that you want it in your claimed hexes I think?
I should read up on the kingdom building part of the kingdom rules (again :p). One day it'll stick ^^
The most important bit is probably to make sure our carts can cross the thorn river without being swept into the river. There's three crossings on the side that might be interesting; the ancient roadway ford, the rickety bridge and the river ford further south.
I think "rickety bridge" sounds horrible to take carts over and I'm not sure how fun it is to drag them through the forest, so the river fording might be the best bet for now.
Or perhaps we can get a river barge or something to take the supplies down to the fort? That way we'd get the stuff right to our doorstep and won't have to deal with the river. Would still need to get 60-70% of the way by cart though.
---
Re food - Hmm. We'd want enough to feed people, but ... Just showing up and taking all the food seems rude. Plus I hope the pioneers brought some food with them in those supply carts :p
---
Re road - Oh yeah this was what I was talking about before I got to river crossings. Drew a cyan line to suggest a road, going by the assumption that clear hexes are cheaper to build road in (iirc they are?). We'd also need to build a less rickety bridge.
It'd only take one more hex of road to connect either the soothscales or farms, if they like more traffic. But the main road wouldn't go through either of those communities which hopefully reduces friction a little.
---
Re temple of the elk - The proposed cyan road wouldn't touch this. One could push the road into the forest (purple suggestion) but that's a pita. I think it might have to be remote for now? Feels like the supply paths being up and operational is more important. Plus not sure if there's plans to restore the temple just yet...
As for our current plans - We'll start from the trading post and probably want to both look at the temple again and get down to the fort to start building/exploring. Not sure which way is the best; but hmhmmh if the carts are slow we might be able to get to the temple first and then meet up with them at the river fording?
I'll plot our suggested path.
---
TL:DR
Red dotted line - suggested temporary cart line
Green dotted line - suggested party travel part
Cyan line - suggested efficient road
Purple line - more expensive (???) forest road suggestion
Illthir Winlowe
Oh and if anyone is colour blind or don't want to look at the mangled lines, let me know and I'll try and communicate them better :p
RPGGGM

Yes.

They do have some supplies for themselves.
Fergus Bouldershoulder Ironmug
Fergus would vote for building infrastructure that will endure. That is to say, we should only build roads that we intend to make use of now and in the future. If that means a little more difficulty in the now, he thinks it would be worth it.
RPGGGM
Before we get too far into building the capitol and roads remember that the mandatory leadership roles currently look like this:
Ruler Zokon(?)
Councilor Illthir
General Kesten Garess (Outpost guard captain)
Grand Diplomat Serena
High Priest Tentative, maybe Jhod Kavken (priest of Erastil)
Magister Fergus
Marshal Akiros
Spymaster/"Secretary of PR" Alia
Treasurer Pending response (probably 2-4 weeks) Representative of the Abadarian Clergy
Warden Samuel Renault
Until you get word or an actual Treasurer back from the Church of the First Banker, LLC. and solidify Jhod (or someone else) as High Priest you will be at a disadvantage in Kingdom building.
Illthir Winlowe
Mm I just got a little bit ahead drawing lines on the map when I had the chance :p
But yes seeing if Jhod can be convinced would be a good next step. If we can't we'll have to find another candidate.

Right, so what's the plan?
Illthir Winlowe
I believe it is 1) gather at outpost 2) visit ruined temple.
Possibly while keeping our eyes open for the tiny lich.
---
The pioneers/labourers though can probably be directed to the river crossing - if it is possible to ford there with carts safely? That's probably something someone familiar with carts would know, which would hopefully be Ikiros or his underlings. Or someone traveling with the carts, though they wouldn't have seen the crossing.

I'm also for rooting out this temple first after directing the carts. Maybe have Kesten and Akiros lead them?

Had a lot of thoughts/questions so I put them here instead of clogging up the game thread.
I believe it's the wrong dwarf on the map :p
Question: a Greased up armor helps one wiggle out of grapples. But a web is not a grapple so it wouldn't help correct?
I think strength checks to escape is more likely to work, with concentration being an issue and all.
Question2: What sort of action "bursting" the web is? Probably a Standard?
Notes: Song of Strength is +3 on Strength checks; like bursting Webs.
+5 for standing on the ground.
-4 for being stuck in the web?
That's +4 net (huehue) and should probably still be doable. Hopefully.

I'll be out on vacation for a week. Theoretically there may be wifi - but can't guarantee it actually works.
Illthir Winlowe
I'm unpacking my junk and nursing the mandatory cold from the airport but I'll ponder as hard as I can. Might not swing by IC until tomorrow or the weekend, depending on how things go :)
Illthir Winlowe
Pardon; travel cold had extra features. On the bright side - no pesky work to distract me with for a few more days :D
RPGGGM
Forgiven. ;)
