Cueta Guiding Star
Cueta's got nothing much more to say, unless I post about judgement day, but I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts!
Leila Bluetistle
Mm it feels like it. I mean we could mess around inside the spaceship a bit, but it feels strange when someone is uh dead >.>
Cueta Guiding Star
Sorry :(
If you want to mess around, don't let Cueta stop you. She made her choic and was not under any duress.
Leila Bluetistle
It was beautiful and well within her rights! I just get sappy about heroic sacrifice and imagining my imaginary character missing the other imaginary character.
Buuuuuuuuuut that said... We might be rich and famous now. Surely there's some Speak With Dead magic available we can pester Cueta with and ask if there's actually trids in heaven? Or perhaps that would be their next adventure :D

I'm game. Just need to learn pf2 :p
Leila Bluetistle
Oh that's convenient :P
Prospero-4
Yeah, we can cut here - watching through the station's window as Cueta-turned-stardust spreads around the solar system.
And I'm very intrigued about the PF2 game, please do tell more.

Ending here is fine with me!
I've told myself I'm not joining anymore pbp campaigns but I'm open to a pitch/might watch.
Cueta Guiding Star
I'd be down with trying PF2.

I enjoyed it!
There's some minor issues, mainly with me vs the system, but overall it was fun.
I liked the campaign and the npcs. The pieces in civilized areas was nice. But it really shone in the exploration of ancient stuff arcs. Felt appropriately pulpy and wondrous.
The PCs were all great fun :D
I disliked the weapon system. It felt a bit game-y. Kinda like those jrpgs where every weapon do random elemental damage and upgrades are just more adjectives on the same chassi. Sure it keeps one a bit on the toes, but it feels odd that damage vulnerability/resistance is more rng then something thought about. And that a knife does 1d8 damage, a Fancy Knife does 4d8 ect.
Minor thing really but it irks me :p
And that's certainly a starfinder thing - not an our campaign thing :)

I had a death in the family and will be leaving town, trying to tie up some loose ends at work, etc. over the next week. Posting may be slow going for a bit.
I largely agree with Leila. Some SF rules are strange. The weapon/gear stuff irked me. I found that despite Cueta's mystery, many of her mechanical abilities never came into play, which I thought was strange given that she's a Star Shaman, which seems, by name alone to be a really good fit for this AP.
The AP itself was pretty cool. I thought you did a great job keeping things moving, GM, and enjoyed the exploration and world-spanning nature of the AP.

Sorry to hear that Cueta.

Four years... Damn! Time flies by...
Congratulations, everyone! This is the first AP I've finished - and I wasn't sure it ever happened in PBP-format. Kudos to GM Stargin for keeping the game running all this time! It's no small feat.
And thanks to everyone else as well for sticking together!
I liked the campaign in general. It had a little "first adventure of the setting" -feeling, like they tried to fit a little bit of everything in there. Absalom station, jungles, Eox, space stations, etc... But it was entertaining tour of the known worlds (and beyond).
I'm with Leila that there's some issues with the SF system. I feel the character classes area bit uninteresting (and class abilities often irrelevant or situational).
The weapon / armor progression has issues, and I feel it makes the economy feel silly. e.g. level 5 weapon is ten times more expensive than level 1 weapon, and all it does it basically changes damage dice from 1d8 to 2d6. Funny thing is, in a computer game I would probably accept this without questions, but in a tabletop rpg it somehow irks me.
But as stated, an issue with the system, not with out campaign :)

@Cueta: I'm sorry for your loss :(

I probably won't be returning to the Starfinder system (I guess I'm just a sword n sorcery type of person), but this game had great players and a great GM! Thanks for the fun everyone.

Agree with most everything folks have discussed. Like Astri, I can't say I was enamored enough with the system to return to it.
And I agree with Prospero that the AP was a little scattered, but it reminded me of Runelords in that way and in general I liked it.

I only joined partway through, but this has been a wonderful adventure with really good writers that have inspired me to step up my game. XD I didn’t feel the weapon-level pinch as badly as some folks, but I think a large part of that was due to the solar weapon scaling automatically. That being said, I’m also needing to put more time into things outside of the forums and won’t have the bandwidth to pick up another game (no matter how much I would like to). Thank you so much everyone! Lots of hugs!

My condolences for your loss Cueta.
From my side I'll say you all were a pleasure to run the game for and I'll treasure the memories forever. Leila's bubbly personality, Prospero being a straight man with a wit, Cueta's out of time cool, Vek wearily going along with it all and Astrianna being both incredibly selfish AND an effective leader were all amazing.
Starfinder is a really interesting system, it's a super refined 3.x which is interesting but it may end up being the last of its kind. I can see the class abelites being too specific but I gotta say some of my favourite moments of the campaign were when I thought I was doing something mean but you guys pulled a trick out of your bags to counter it.
Like dropping Vek down a pit in a crumbling building and finding out gravity is optional for Solarians, or finally landing a save or suck spell (Spell DCs are surprisingly low) and Prospero Neural shunting it away, Leila basically ignoring AOOs, Cueta flying and blinding fools, and Astiranna buffing everybody. It was all great stuff.
The loot chase feel of the gear is a choice that I kinda struggled with too. I kinda countered that with the Holiday presents you guys kept getting since Dead Suns is real stingy with places to actually get more gear. You all did the smart thing by prioritizing defense as the math in Starfinder is kinda odd, monsters get higher attacks but lower defenses than the players. Sure it means that monsters do what they should in hitting players really easy but also dying pretty fast but it was weird that if you guys picked up a weapon an enemy dropped it just magically became less effective. Plus the few times you guys picked up NPCs I nerfed them so they wouldn't outshine you guys. I think the 2d10 worked well enough.
Starship combat was fun the first few times but it got tedious by the end.
As for the campaign. I enjoyed it a fair bit, though I think I'd prefer games where the location is more set as I think that'd allow for more interesting long running NPCs, the planet of the week approach in Dead Suns didn't really allow for that. It was nice that the story direction was pretty good and not onerous, until the end though where I had to railroad you guys pretty hard to the one 'right' solution of crashing the Empire of Bones into the Stellar Degenerator.
Oh and final commission is up at the link!
