I don't understand why we couldn't just accelerate to ludicrous speeds and then let physics do the work for us, but turning the zombies on the ship's defenses is pretty great.
Well we can either punch through and hope our escape pod doesn't get blasted or take out these two ships. We should probably disable the two ships, just in case. Plus who doesn't want to fire a few hundred mass drivers and quantum missles?

Looking at the ship stats: we've definitely got most guns on the prow. So we want to fight them head on!
Also we probably have more guns then gunners...
But I wanted to try one of the fancy RP officer actions at least once :p Can fire some gun next turn!

I don't think the Captain can use the computer bonus on their action, and if they can that's really dumb.

I was not aware of the recent issues until listening to your Youtube video, GM. It is disheartening.

Ok... I think I got a handle on the starship combat again.
Round 2 up. Cueta, you can do two checks, one for the initative and one for any fancy flying you might want to do.

Roles
Captain: Astrianna
Pilot: Cueta
Science: Liela
Engineering: Prospero
Gunnery:Vek
Note Multiple people can fill any role other than Captain or Pilot. There can be as many gunners as guns
There are also computer bonuses to assign which I assume as follows by default... or just call it out when doing your roll.

Science
MVP Gunner
Engineering
then there are two phases.
1. Initiative and Movement
Both pilots do a piloting skill roll off and the loser moves first. This simulates the winner of initiative outmaneuvering the loser as facing matters a lot. I'll let you roll instead of doing the roll as, well, this is the final starship scene of the campaign. Piloting stunts happen here.
2. Other actions.
Once you guys know what the facing and positioning is like from step 1 then that's where Captain, engineer, science, and gunnery checks happen. To streamline matters I've ruled that the captain can't encourage pilot initiative checks as that's a critical part of setting up the next round and I don't want back and forth on that.
Then I resolve the shooting results as it happens simultaneously and we start the whole thing again!

I am fairly sure the DC is just high to high-ish by default, since it depends on the CR of the ship (20). That's what I went with at least and it seemed to work :p
It depends on the specific fancy stuff. They did make starship combat easier after the AP was done I think so DC's did drop especially at high levels. Plus some actions just cost RP I'm pretty sure.

Ok, thanks GM. The DCs are either 40 or 45 for every check. With Cueta's +24 modifier, I'm a little leery of trying anything unless we really need to. One action does allow RP and no check so that's something.
Totally open to other perspectives though, if folks want us to risk the DC 40 checks (there's bad stuff that happens at failure).

Do we need to deal with the enemy ships at all? Is it enough to stay in one piece and make it to the gateway/degenerator?
If we just want to go full steam, pilot action: Full Power (1.5x speed) doesn't need a roll, just RP. I think I should make the divert to engine for +2 speed.
Chief mate's "Maximize speed" might be an impossible roll to make (DC 55)

And since I didn't get this answered on the gameplay: Does the "key" give it's +10 bonus to engineering rolls in starship combat as well?

Re Cueta's +24 - remember that you could use the computers bonus of +10 if you'd like! We get 4 of those per round :)

Oh, I'd remembered that the +10 bonus didn't apply to pilot checks for some reason! That is excellent and I'll keep it in mind - thank you, Leila!

+2 speed is excellent!
Gameplay did say key is relevant to checks :). I'll assume nothing is full speeeed ahead. Vek that'll mean only one turret attack as you're leaving south ship in the dust, Astrianna unfortunately your attack didn't get through hull so no crit table roll. Plan is to resolve tonight.

Sorry for the delay. Resolved the turn with... everybody crit everybody this turn it was wild and would have been a shame to be pedantic about hull damage actually not happening.. plus The Empire of Bones actually took 2 damage!
I also to expedite things just moved the two enemy ships first. You guys are up...no real need to roll initiative for maneuvering I think. Probably the turret is the only weapon that'll work this round as the empire of bones has no aft weapons lol.
Also I put up the directory which has the comission pics as they come in Astrianna, Cueta, and Leila, have flat colours on them. Please take a look and see if you'd want to adjust the colouring somehow.

I don't understand the positioning on the starmap at the moment, or the lines that are drawn. You say the turrent is the only weapon that will work this round but it looks like the two enemy ships are on port and starboard?
I'm going to have Astrianna do a Fire at Will anyway.
You guys haven't moved yet. I'm assuming you'll continue to go full speed ahead towards the gate. If you don't then yeah port and starboard may continue to be options. You can always fire for the benefit of the cameras too.

Cueta will push the Empire of Bones in a straight line forward unless told to do things otherwise.

Honestly.... it's a wonderful place to end the campaign I feel. How about the rest of you? Of course I'm going to wait for you guys to all react to Cueta's decision. Then I'll do an outro for leaving the Empire of Bones and I'll leave it up to the group on whether they want to RP final interactions on the way back to Absalom Station or on Absalom Station.

Mm I'm torn.
On one hand I'd love to imagine Leila marveling at her Leila doll, snuggling with her Cueta blanket and visiting all the wonderful places Astri has teased.
On the other, I'm not sure how fun that's actually is to play out :p
I think an outro is fine by me. Perhaps a debrief by the starfinders, if such a thing exists? So we know we made it home at least :D

I'm not in a place to demand RP from everyone having just written Cueta out but that said - I'd love to see scenes of everyone's lives after the Empire. I'd love to know what the PCs go onto to do (in a general arc, of course)!

Sounds good, GM. I had planned for us to rescue the kishalee AI (too lazy to look up the name at the moment) and yeet Serovox's key into a nearby sun before we left the system though.
Cueta could take care of the key, or you guys could, either is fine by me.
