Related: after reading some more lore from places like 1d4 chan and the planescape torment wiki, I've come to the conclusion that Jek's joke about lying around like a lifeless doll might actually be a valid goal for a dusty xD

Mildly? If you're talking about becoming undead then there are plenty of free willed undead that are a part of the Dustmen. Its easier to detach yourself from false life, that is emotion and the people tying you to the multiverse, when you're not actually alive but its also seen as a dead end because of the whole immortality thing.

Spoilers for a decades old game:
In Planescape: Torment if the Nameless One joins the Dustmen its hinted at that its a bad thing for him to be immortal because he is an affront to their philosophy. But in a weird way he breaks his own cycle of reincarnation achieving the Dustmen goal of truly dying. I always saw it as he joined the Dustmen so they could help him break the cycle.

I always like grabbing Immortality for no good reason, but this time I can't, so I guess my earlier question is moot xD

Added to house rules:

Spells or spell-like abilities with no components or apparent physical manifestation cannot be identified with spellcraft. Example: A silent still charm person has no components and the spell's description indicates no outward effects and so spellcraft could not be used to ID the spell unless another spell revealed the effect, such as detect magic.

Oooh, sorry to be a bother, but that reminds me of two things that are closely related that haven't come up yet, but I'm beginning to suspect might come up in the near future xD

1) Do SLAs and Silent + Still + Eschew Materials spells still trigger AoOs?
I'm guessing because you space out a moment to cast...? I never got that logic. (Su) doesn't provoke :/
Unless the default assumption *is* that some sort of outward effect is always obvious...?

2) If someone does something with no obvious physical effect, does the victim know on a successful save? How about on a failed saving throw?

1) They would still trigger AoO. You're concentrating so intently casting that you leave yourself open to attack. In my headcannon with metamagic feats you are mentally envisioning the missing component. You're imagining saying the words or doing the gestures so it still requires concentration.

2) Gonna say it depends on the effect. Continuing with charm person and similar spells if the creature fails the save they are friendly towards the caster. But afterwards they knew they were not acting normally. On a successful save I can see either way actually, do you know you just fended off a mental intrusion but are unsure who? Or do you just not notice at all?

Illusions: obviously if you succeed you know its an illusion. But if you fail you're fooled so you shouldn't know you made a save.

It has exactly the number of ofs as Chaos intended.

I suppose it could be labled as Schrödinger's box. But yes that's who and what's responsible for Rinika's condition. Mena of the Doomguard, who incidentally smells like the box, told Rinika that Schrödinger is a high-up in the Doomguard, a Doomlord. Mena thought that the only way to get Schrödinger's attention was to be exceptionally devoted to the Doomguard philosophy. She also thought that it was dangerous to get his attention.

I haven't done an entry for Mena yet but intend to.

Now that I think about it: is it easy to tell when a target has finished bleeding out and is therefore a valid target for Lesser Animate Dead? Will we count bleeding out for these guys and potentially delay Nik's ability to make them shamble?
