Suzuka can get daily Auguries for each of us and a more general weekly augury through occult skill unlocks, but those are less informative than a commune.

Anyone need their skull measured or their aura read? That stuff is typically what she's paid to do.

So, Jorian is going to trigger a probably-poison-trap while we all wait 40ish feet away?


That does seem to be the plan, hopefully it’s just poison and not some awful thing I’m not immune to.

That is because I originally thought I gave up:

Venom Immunity (Ex): At 9th level, a druid gains immunity to all poisons.

From the base Druid, but the archetype does not change this feature as it turns out.

It’s basically a grappling hook designed to be used with a bow. It cost 1g, and I thought it was reusable. But if I can get a reusable one for 2g, that’s fine.

Belated happy thanksgivings to all as well. We celebrated early then traveled a bit. My free time has been taken up by a slightly sassy but wonderful foster dog we picked up last weekend. She’s been a handful but a lot of fun and it sounds like we’ve got a real nice new family for her lined up so I’ll have free time again soon.

Also this adventure makes me think of Steven Kings Dark Tower a bit, I should have rolled a gunslinger…

Actually I did have an idea of some type of revenant gunfighter like the warmachine Pistol Wraith, but he’d have been even more evil than Baraxx.

Funny, refreshing myself with Baraxx now that I actually know the Kineticist class much better and, wow, Kinetic Knight is a real trap. I could have made every bit the flying tank with significantly more power and utility by going base kineticist with maybe a dip in fighter. Losing metakinesis and the extra damage from overflow is not insignificant, not to mention losing the ranged attack.

Still, I like him and he’s still pretty effective in combat, if not much else

Heavy armor, kinetic blade infusion at zero burn (which is admittedly helpful at low level) and a shield (which is easily offset by taking water). It also gives you the whip and whirlwind thing infusions as part of the class. Also you get the samurai resolve which might be really helpful when needed.

Going a dip in fighter (or some feats), dex based in mithral full plate with weapon finesse gets you just the same stuff. You’d be stuck in water to keep the shield bonus (which can get boosted by taking burn) and air to fly, so you’d lose the DR. And you’d need to take weapon finesse. But you get metakinesis and ranged blasts, and can still take blade and whip infusions. Going water opens the Kinetic Healer wild talents too, which can do some serious healing at the cost of some burn, which can be given to the target instead (so for example Baraxx could heal for 5d6 + 10 and either eat 9 nonlethal himself, or give the nonlethal to the healed target. The NL can’t be healed without rest, but that’s still a good bit of healing in a pinch, eventually he can do the same with removing status effects and even raising dead)

The Knight does give you free combat expertise if you want to go combat reflexes, which might really be the way to go, with whip giving AOO, range and combat reflexes you could be an AOO machine and add improved trip and really go to town.

I was just a hand holder on both. My mother in law was there for #1 and I was just kinda there.

Sorry to hear that, focus on getting better!

Isn’t since I’ve heard some stories from family down in the big city or folks out of state that I realize how nice we have it here for testing. Process for us is to go online, do the little questionnaire and find a time slot, every time it’s been that day or next morning for drive up testing with no line. Results posted online usually within 24 hours. And PCR, not the rapid, so more reliable.

Yeah I've done that song and dance a couple of times. But the results are always a couple of days away. I did get it done anyway since its free and more reliable. I am feeling better, mostly I felt like I did after I got my booster yesterday.

Jek may be out for a little while, he for sure has covid, but I know he's vaxxed so it probably won't be much to do.

Gotta say this, I really appreciate this group and DM. Shortly before joining this game I had just, sadly, had a long term group break up and was missing the absolute fun we had (it was also PBP) with the odd characters and the bickering (in character, my bawdy narcissistic cockatrice cavalier loved to tweak our reserved, gawky, naive wizard).

Didn’t imagine I’d find such a solid fun group immediately afterward.
