I've been waiting for us to land in a major city for so long. I'm disappointed that I've been so work busy.
That's fine, but I think it's safe to say you're staying this night, at least, in the city.
No worries, Tap...part of why this is cool, and also why we get stuck at times...is that this is pretty open territory. You can head out on the seas and do piratin', then come back. The only limit to how much of that you want to do is up to you. I can keep coming up with encounters, that's fairly easy.
Farmageddon
I'm not in any rush to get moving. Still trying to figure out what all to buy. Since no one has expressed an opinion on the split for the harpoon, I'm going to add the 2,250 gp from a 4 way split to my gold total.
Now with my Ring of Sustenance, Rush doesn't have to worry about going hungry any more.
I'd also like to pick up a wand of Air Bubble (1st level spell, 750 gp).
And probably some +1 armor (I'll have to research on type).
Yeah, I think that was the intent, all good.
Farmageddon
Okay, the +1 armor that I mentioned before, I'd like that to be a +1 Studded Leather. What would be the wait time on that?
Also, does anyone object to me taking the Ring of Swimming? Rush is pretty terrible at swimming.

please!

Id imagine that +1 studded leather is common enough in a city like this.
Yup, that's readily available.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
i think i'll just securitize the ship and buy me a couple of pairs of Nikes.

Ran a quick simulation on a +1 keen sword vs a +2 sword, and let me tell you, keen does *not* have the edge (sic). You can check it out here.
Of course, in pathfinder, there are all kinds of contingencies and qualifications, e.g. swashbucklers gain back panache when they score a critical hit, etc., or critical-specific feats, that might effect what is best for you.
Did you do that on a keen cutlass/rapier or sword? Thr rapier has 18-20 crit range naturally. Doubling that makes it 15-20 crit range...
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Yes, for the rapier, as you describe.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
so, off back to Ricketty's and a ram. then off to scout out sunken treasure.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
ha, well, if Jack gets bored he might start pillaging and pirating where he stands. (:
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
How did you fare in the last tropical storm GM?
Thanks for askin' man! All good; surprisingly, it came at us strong, then just fizzled away. It was windy and rainy but nothing more than a coastal storm. You do okay?
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
rain just relieved the drought. so all good.
hey check this out, a one page dungeon generator (yeah, I know, there are lots of these, but this one has some nice touches)

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
the creator has lots of similar projects. pretty cool.
https://watabou.itch.io/
That's actually much better than others I've seen; it at least has a loose story that you can work into. Good stuff, thanks Jack!
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
I don't suppose that our new carpenter has had the chance to repair and install that ballista, or that we remembered to purchase some ammo for it...
Fair enough to say you got some ammo; I'll look up the cost. As for the repair and install - no, not yet.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
well, image should look really scary... or should look so profitable to be distracting.
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
From the spell, it looks like we have 8 10 foot cubes. This is not enough to give the image of full size ship up close (e.g. 20x80x80ft).
On the other hand, I don't need to make a full size ship because of visual angle. See my scenario here: Scenario
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
The Oncoming Storm could obscure view of part of the "ship", so don't need all of the ship anyway
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
And I'd like the image to fly a flag matching our own. I want them to think they are outgunned to the max.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
ahhh
i had been thinking either
1) a helpless looking merchant ship flying a distress flag
2) a military vehicle seeking out pirates
3) an ally of us
all three work, but dictate our own responses as well.
Farmageddon
Alternately, what if instead of a ship, you make the image of a creature? That way it can partially submerged and you won't need to use as many squares to show it.
Something like a sea dragon or something.
Yup, I get it, and that works. Good with the ship, or a creature like Rush suggests?
Creature is interesting but already started with a ship
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
actually, i think a really clever use of silent image would be to put an image of an empty sea in front of our ship to hide it from view...
FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map
I'll keep that in mind in the future.
Well...I didn't think of that either...a good idea
It would be hard to cover our ship with the illusion size Tap is capable of creating at this level...but I am all for finding ways to make the ship more stealthy in the future.
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
especially when sneaking up on our targets of pirating ...
Guys, if you're cool with it, I'd like to start using these rules:
1. I'd like to use some variant crit rules - here
2. Crit hits that are not confirmed are MAX damage
3. Crit fumbles when shooting into melee with a ranged attack could hit your ally...just need to figure out the percentile for that
Cool, Id love to shoot Jack in the bum.
Figured that was where you were aiming anyway...
Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5
am little confused. you mean for us to press those buttons on that critgen site?
Farmageddon
Forewarning on vehement opinion.
I HATE SHOOTING ALLIES. It makes shooting into combat, throwing into combat, etc, not fun. It makes being in combat not fun having to worry about your allies accidentally hitting you. I'm cool with the other two rules (we use the critical hit and fumble decks IRL).
Can I ask for a compromise? Fumbles when shooting into melee if you don't have precise shot.
S'cool Rush, we'll discard # 3
Yeah Jack, when you roll confirm a crit hit or fumble, you'll click on the button for the damage type and then whatever it says will happen, provided its viable.

Sure do;) Though Cap'n Tap isn't aware of her yet.
Everyone, please welcome Malvessa!

Stuff happens.
Just FYI, I'll be traveling for the next few days.
I'll have my tablet and internet so I'll be able to post; but available time might limit my content amount and quality.
