Since she's been around Rickety's a few days, maybe she picked up something about good spots for pirating.
Knowledge: Local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Edit: Sorry, did you want the roll in the gameplay thread?

The map is open to edit. See link above my post.
You'll not I added Rickety's on there. Moreover, the Rickety's label is actually a link to a google doc where we can add detailed info.

Good pirates? Lol. I did try to put a battering ram on that looks like a god of death.
Frankly good pirating is not really a thing. We've got to get meaner.
But we can still be against slavery, and want our crew willing.

Well, there is an alternative path. We don't actually have to be ... pirates. As I see it, this area of the seas has a dearth of good government. We could just spend our time organizing our own sea kingdom here abouts. Demanding protection money from the villages, taxing the ships coming through, destroying rival pirates and uppity town mayors (no worse than feudal lords doing the same)

According to Ultimate equipment, Untrained labor is work 1 sp per day, or almost 1 gp per week. Trained labor is worth three times that. So in a year you can expect most commoners to make anywhere from 4-12 gp per month.

I know a little bit about this AP, and I think if that's the route folks want to take, it's feasible within the story path of the AP with only a little bit of juggling by GM Nayr.
Setting up a base of operations and "taxing" ships that pass through the area for "protection" isn't a bad plan if not quite the "lets go be pirates and plunder everything in sight!" theme of the story line.
With that said, IC wise this section of the AP is when we should be working on building up our reputation, because a brand new ship with unknown crew is just as much a target as any merchant ship in the shackles.
Without taking up space in the game play thread if it came up; Malvessa would strongly advocate that unless the ship makes a name for themselves they can expect to be attacked at whim by any free captain in the shackles. And that there's enough predators for ships in the Shackle's even without adding in the other pirates in the mix.
There are plenty of options to work with, I think we just need to decide how we want to operate.
Once that's decided, we can work on the IC direction we go to fit within the AP story line and not have GM Nayr pulling out his hair trying to shoehorn in things to keep us on track when the story gets to the more "railroading" parts.
If we want to have that discussion in character, I'm happy to bring it up in game play, but that might slow things down, and I think it can be dealt with here behind the scenes.
Edit to add: This part of the AP is very sand-boxy on purpose. Because it sets up for the later parts of the story, where the Infamy and reputation comes into play. If we don't make a name for ourselves, the later story becomes a lot harder, and some parts might not be accessible.

Stick to the story Jack!
Kidding - I'm fully up for anything you guys want to do, and can adjust as needed. The main ideas are not going to change, since your history is with Harrigan and the Wormwood. And...everything Malvessa said is true...thanks for doing my work for me;)
Even with this time being a sandbox, there are some pretty cool encounters to throw at you, should you bite at the lure. Here's hoping!

You are correct. The illusion will only work here for the initial approach, but once we are close they might notice us, as parts of the ship will be visible.

By the way, in case you wondered how important having the right number of crew is - you need 20 just for the basic functions of the ship - like movement. If you only had 20, then you wouldn't be able to allocate anyone to fire the siege engines at all - you'd have to pick between ramming or stopping movement and firing.

That would be quite the shot. Let's do it.
In any case, Tap might be able to put grease on it! Can we get a range check for the plank?
Malvessa Aroll
When we get in range, Malvessa has a idea to handle the gang plank.
Assuming that's the order, she'll make an attempt at it.
Grocery stores here have been crazy. I've been to 4 different places in the past two days trying to pick up both my normal weekly stuff, and a few extra things that we might need if we get stuck here.
Costco literally had bare shelves where the toilet paper, bleach wipes, and hand sanitizer goes.
Fortunately, those were not on my list.

I was surprised at the things missing here in IL. NO CASES outside Chicago area (which is over 2 hours away) and there is no toilet paper, pasta, rice, liquid hand soap, peanut butter, or frozen pizzas. Orange juice, milk, eggs, bread, potatoes are in abundance. But not FROZEN PIZZAS! Who tries to survive a pandemic on Jack's pizza?
But I hope you're all doing well and not getting caught up by the chaos. I'm just waiting for the first panic related crimes to start being commited.

My advice, visit small stores to get supplies. Grocery Outlet for example..only moderate lines..
I work at a major hospital in California (UC Davis Health), and we are all super worried that within a week or two we will run out of beds...
xeyed-jack
i'm fortunate that i can work from home.
i stocked up on supplies about 3 weeks ago, because I was pretty sure at some point there would be a collective freak out.
if this revealed anything, it revealed just how Americans feel about toilet paper... a true weakness in our nation's preparedness.

Sorry all, the recent changes affecting us all has required a lot of time and energy to adapt. I won't be able to play regularly for a little bit longer..but I'll be back
Malvessa Aroll
I'm in a similar spot.
I work for a local city government, and things are very much in flux right now.
I should be able to keep up, and I will post when I can, (even if just something short) but feel free to bot me if I take to long to reply.
- Avoid Melee!
- Flight Hex for mobility.
- Protective Spells (Mage Armor, False Life, Wave Shield if a hit is coming in.)
- Cackle to Continue Hex effects. (Must be within 30 feet.)
- Evil Eye Hex to Saves.
- Misfortune Hex.
- Slumber Hex (if it will affect target/ won't be woken up immediately)
- Cast spells depending on situation.
- Evil Eye Hex to target's AC or Attack Rolls if they are hitting hard or hard to hit.

No worries guys; we'll just take it slow. I'd rather not move along with only half the crew, so we'll just roll along on the slow speed for now. I'll make a big update, then we'll plan on a few days or even a week to update again.
Just be safe and stay healthy; the game's always here to come back to

With all this stay-at-homedness that a lot of us are doing...im starting to consider...Would anyone be interested in doing a live Pathfinder
session via Zoom or something?
Malvessa Aroll
While I would love to do that, I don't know that I'll have any extra time. I'm still working out of my office/ in the field and mandatory overtime has turned my 10 hour work shifts into 14-16 hour ones, and taken 2 days off so far.

I would be very interested. I can't commit to any sort of regularity, but I'd be down for even a few one-shots until all of this is over.
It would, however, probably destroy the vague images I have in my brain of all of your appearances. But that's a price I'm willing to pay.
Also, I'd recommend discord.

I guarantee that I'm uglier than you think, and doubly more so than you will expect!
