Slightly random question - I'll be playing PFS on Saturday for the first time in person. Can I print off my HeroLab sheet or should I make one for my character using the downloadable sheet? I don't have anything against it, but it'd be quick and easy for me to print. Admittedly, I also don't mind making it up - I'm just curious.
Also, I was wondering how I should handle bringing the appropriate documents/texts with me. Should I bring all my books? Do I have to download all of my pdfs or can I just bring proof of ownership (logging into Paizo's downloads section on my phone, for example) and download it if there's a question regarding content?
Thanks in advance. c:

As above - mileage varies.
I'm not opposed to people just bringing their phone and can show the downloads section of the Paizo boards. I used to load all the PDF's on my phone as well, but now I have every PDF of just about anything ever written by Paizo it's out of hand.
For your character sheet, as long as it is clear and legible you can bring what you want.

Evernote is the bomb for digital character tracking. I can put my stat block in a note (at each level, so I have a snapshot of my character throughout time), and each chronicle sheet in a note, and a screenshot or .PDF print of all the special resources that character is using.
Of course, for most of my characters that's more theory than practice, since I didn't use Evernote from the beginning. But it at least gives me an avenue for potentially having everything related to a character in one place without having to print anything, and I can access it from any device.

If you have a digital platform, like a mobile or tablet. It's easy to carry around your soft copy watermarked pdfs. After realising how difficult it is carrying all my hard copies, I invest in digital now!

Yeah, my last local con, I suddenly realized my books were a tad more cumbersome than they used to be. PDFs are so much easier to handle!

Oh, awesome, thanks guys! :3 That's all really great to know! Here's another question, though - I'm going with two of my friends who haven't PFS'd before, ever. They've Pathfinder'd with me at home for homebrew mixed in with Curse of the Crimson Throne, but they've never gone to an event or anything. That means the books we have are... pretty split between the lot of us. Can we pool our resources or are we going to be sad when we go? o:

Technically, everyone should own the books they use. However, there are exceptions for family members or people in the same households, if they play at the same PFS tables together. And when it comes to PFS newbies, I can't imagine anyone actually enforcing the rules strictly, even if they find out you aren't family or roommates.
So for now, just make sure you play at the same tables together. If you all start playing PFS regularly, you really should buy the books you use for your PCs.

The rules for this changed in the last big FAQ update, it isn't a question of agreement or opposition anymore, people are entitled to rely on the PRD if they can show ownership using their downloads page.
In order to use material that does not appear in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook for your character, you must bring a physical copy of the book, a name-watermarked PDF copy of the book, name-watermarked printouts of all relevant pages of the PDF, or electronic access to the Pathfinder Reference Document along with a screenshot of your My Downloads page proving that you own the source of the material.

The other thing you could consider is having your visitors stick to core options (not CORE path), since they can totally rebuild (minus spend consumables) before playing at Level 2. Not as cool if one of your visitors really wants to play a gunslinger now or use feats from Heroes of the High Courts now, but it bypasses the hassle.
EDIT: Regarding sheets. There's no rule on sheets as long as they're legible. It could be crayon on colored paper or etched on bronze sheets as long as the GM can read it.

I am so glad that you had a great face to face game, Hiyami! I not only play and organize in Play-by-Post, but I have a marvelous in person PFS venue with a community of great players. It's nice to be able to experience both!
____
Speaking of that... Back to the Gameday. I have a couple favors to ask you!
FAVOR ONE: FINDING TABLES FOR NEWCOMERS
GMs, if you don't have all your players yet... Would it be possible to reserve 1 or 2 seats for brand new players going forward? I am writing a guest blog for Paizo about PbP and PbP Gameday, and I anticipate a surge in interest once people figure out that our gameday is happening. I'd love to be able to point brand new players at tables that might have seats for them.
I'm not sure what might be the best way to list tables that have reserved a seat for newcomers... Should we put together a google spreadsheet on which GMs can list tables (and then take their names off as new players come?)
Last year, Willamanator and another GM put together a tables of the Confirmation for brand new players so that they could join us in PbP Gameday. We can still do some of that, but I would love for new players to also be able to play with veterans who could show them the ropes!
FAVOR TWO: CAN YOU GUYS HELP ME MARK TABLES THAT ARE ALREADY FULL?
If folks can go through the list of tables marked with open seats and find ones that should be changed to full, let me know!
This will make it easier for everyone to find tables that are open!
GM Hmm
Oh, and I note that my table of Starfinder has just become one of those open to brand new players of PBP. Dungeonmaster S and Nefreet both graciously offered to give up their seats so that we could have a couple spots there for new people.
I think that I'll be doing that as a lottery, and will come up with a spreadsheet later today to list games that might be open to newcomers for PbP Gameday!

Session #40 is full. I'm pondering if I really want to chance a third concurrent table.

Ooh I was planning to run Phantom Phenomena in the second half that I hope would largely be for beginners as I find it quite beginner friendly. Will await your spreadsheet .
GM RePete
Added two new sessions for PbP Gameday VI for tier 1-5. I'll hold at least two spots for new players (PbP or PFS). Feel free to add a my link if you make a compiled list GM Hmm.
#3-01 The Frostfur Captives for Session 1 and #5-04 The Stolen Heir for Session 2.

I haven't quite decided what I'm running yet but I plan to do my normal recruitment.
Which is 5 total players, with me looking over their pbp histories and choosing 4 people who excite me the most based on their pbp history and 1 new player.
I want my pbps to be as awesome as possible but I also understand that even the stranger at the gate is due hospitality.
I'm currently leaning towards a campaign mode play of Down the Blighted Path but I plan on finishing GMing my Giantslayer pbp before committing (we're currently about 2/3s of the way through book 6, expecting to finish by mid July)
I might choose to do a couple quick scenarios instead, we'll see how I feel once I finish Giantslayer.
GM Ladile
I'll also be running a couple of games for Gameday and will be happy to save a spot in each for a new player! Hopefully I'll have my campaign and recruitment threads for them up sometime tomorrow :)
GM DevilDoc
Admittedly, I did not consider new players when I posted for the two games I have chosen to run. However, I do have plans on recruiting for a lower level game or one of the quests closer to gameday. I just want to make sure I have enough bandwidth in case I end up running a table for the special!

45 technically has open alternate spots.
I get how it can be a let down for a player to see "Open" and then find only alternate slots, but at the same time, if it says "Full" then nobody will know that there are alternate slots to sign up for.
However HMM wants to handle that is fine by me.
GM Z..D..
Actually I was waiting for the final alternate spots to be filled up before making that determination.
GM Cody
I just added a game to the selection, Table 64: 4-02 In Wrath's Shadow.
One of my favorite scenarios. Its a tough one so I encourage people to bring their A game but also be ready for an enjoyable archaeological thriller.

I'm right now not planning on playing in PbP Gameday this year.
Everything I was looking at filled up pretty quickly, and I'm not going to try and shove myself onto a table.
Maybe something will change in the future, but be safe out there, kids.
GM OfAnything
If you have any scenarios in particular you are looking to play, it is often helpful to speak up. Someone else might put together a table.
I only have two people signed up to play 5-07 Port Godless (5-9) right now. Sign up here to help make the table.

I wouldn't mind playing a PFS run of Emerald Spire in CORE. No way it will happen locally so online is my only hope. I am aware that even with an active GM it will take many months.

And it will be awesome!

There will be games open, Wei Ji. I anticipate more games going up just before the Support Deadline closes. It might also be that you could request a game, and some GM might reserve you a spot. I am hoping that everyone in the Lodge can get a chance to play a game before the Gameday closes!
