Recent thread about PFS Scenarios with lots of Roleplay. I've enjoyed every scenario listed here.
Between both links you should find some fun options.

Consortium Compact is fun. Never plays the same twice for me either.
I'm on board for running consortium as well. Also any time i ran it at the table everyone talked there way out of anything they could. Whether by diplomatic agendas or outright bluff. It was fun. I was laughing so hard i near feel out of my chair.

I looked through both threads and with the amount of support for the Consortium Compact, I think I'd like to run that one. c: I've gone ahead and made a table for it on the PbP Gameday Games page and added it to the New Player Game Finder. c: Thanks everyone for your input! \o/
Here's a question - I've got someone who added themselves to my wishlist instead of on the Master of the Fallen Fortress tab. They did note they were looking for the Gameday, though. Do I just reach out to the player or should I just be sad at them for not reading through the first page/tab? Obviously, I don't want to make someone that's new to pbp sad or accidentally be a meanie to someone that maybe didn't have the time to go through the page, but... At the same time, I'm wary of having someone that isn't aware of what my expectations are slip into the game.
Have other GMs encountered situations like this in the past? How'd you handle them?

I wouldn't mind playing a PFS run of Emerald Spire in CORE. No way it will happen locally so online is my only hope. I am aware that even with an active GM it will take many months.
Three years in September, and my group is just getting into the ninth level.

Sounds like my Rise of the Runelords campaign. We're over 3.5 years. We're half way through the last book, but at the rate we're going, I'm pretty sure we'll hit the 4 year mark before we're done (started around Oct or Nov 2013).

We're on level 9; started spring of 2015.

I'd reach out and contact them. While players with chronic reading comprehension problems are no fun, sometimes even good players can miss a second tab.

I have to ask: How is it that Starfinder Society is up-and-running when the book hasn't even come out yet?

JAF0 |

I have a pfs rules question for all you VCs or VLs out there who might be able to answer me... On the additional resources page under 'Ultimate Intrigue' it says:
Talents: The social and vigilante talents are legal for play except double time and in vogue. The in vogue social talent doubles the gold earned when using Craft or Profession for a Day Job, and the celebrity discount talent cannot be combined with other effects to reduce an item's cost below 85% normal.
So which is it... is 'in vogue' not legal for play or is it legal and doubles your day job earned gold?
thanks for your time.

GM Hmm |

I think they were giving an explanation for why they weren't legal. My theory is that the AR is written by very tired PFS Campaign Leadership people at 3AM, just after they've completed all other tasks and before they crawl into bed. That might be a good comment to post on the campaign clarifications thread in the PFS forum, so that they can get the text clarified.
I have to ask: How is it that Starfinder Society is up-and-running when the book hasn't even come out yet?
The book is completed. GenCon GMs like myself who are running Starfinder will soon be seeing an abridged version appearing in our downloads mid-July. Everything else may be late, but they are doing everything they can to make sure that the Starfinder launch is timely.

And Now For Something Completely Different:
I'm grooming my (freshly 2nd-level) Vishkanya character to be a Swashbuckler now that Adventurer's Armory 2 has given us the tri-bladed katar, and I was wondering how I could add my Dexterity modifier to damage rolls with it? There's the Slashing Grace feat for slashing weapons, of course, but the katar is not one, and given that that feat was obviously put out chiefly for the sake of Swashbucklers, it strikes me as very odd that they should be potentially able to do that with slashing weapons, but not piercing weapons, which are normally their stock in trade, so I figure there must be some option/feat/class feature I'm not seeing.

Magabeus |

3 levels of unchained rogue for dex to damage or the agile enchantment (costs the equivalent of +1 bonus) are the only options that I know of.

![]() |

How very odd - thanks for pointing out the agile enchantment, though. That may have to do.

What book is the Agile enchantment in again? I can't seem to find it on the PRD and I'm blanking on source atm.

It’s on page 21 of Adventure Path #100 A Song of Silver, Wei Ji.
And according to Additional Resources, magic items on page 21 of that volume ARE legal for play!

Okay, silly question incoming!
I was looking at the PFS Roleplaying Guild Scenario Subscription, more or less wishing there didn't have to be a shipping cost when my brain caught up with my eyes and pointed out that this is a PDF subscription. The Subscription FAQ and the post they mention by Vic Wertz all imply that there's not going to be a subscription for pdfs both imply that this isn't a thing...
Am I seeing things? Am I crazy? I'm super confused about what I'm looking at right now and mostly just not sure whether there are secret strings attached here or what. @_@ Is it safe to assume they changed their minds? Since, you know, I'm looking at it?

GM Hmm |

Let me see if I can provide some clarity.
There are PDF subscriptions for things which have no print products: PFS scenarios and SFS scenarios.
There are no PDF subscriptions for things which have a print product, though such subcriptions usually offer a free PDF.
I wish they would have PDF subcriptions for their other products, but I understand Vic Wertz's choice not to do so.
Hmm

![]() |

Hiyami: There are both print and PDF versions of scenarios and AP's available for individual sale.
As far as the subscriptions go, Vic and several of the Dev's have outright said that they will not have a PDF ONLY subscription available because they fear that would undercut hard copy sales and reduce their footprint as a printer.
What this subscription gives you is a hard copy subscription to the scenarios as they are released to the public, as well as a complimentary PDF to go with it. This is the same set up for the AP subscription.

![]() |

..Thats what I took away from Vic's comments, and why I haven't signed up for the scenario subscription. I have no room nor any wish to handle 3 print scenarios a month. lol.. I get enough grief from my wife about the 6 bookshelves we have to dance around in this tiny apartment as it is!

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

There are not any Printed PFS scenarios and I don't believe there ever have been. Just PDFs.

GM Hmm |

There may have been print versions of scenarios in the early days... There aren't any now.

This discussion has convinced me to sign up for PFS and SFS subscriptions. I live in Australia and shipping from the US to AU is ridiculous. Not just Paizo stuff, but everything. I bought 6 sets of dice and shipping on 6 sets of dice and 6 small dice bags was 25 USD. No shipping means this is infinitely more attractive to me.

hiyami |

Yaaay, I'm glad! I'll be sure to ask more questions in the future, no matter how silly I think they are. I love this place! We've always got so much to learn and so many things to talk about. <3
Plus, 20% off of $5 means that you get each scenario at $4! :D I think I might wait until the start of Season 9 in August and see if I can't snag a Humble Bundle (Like I did for Season 6).
That said, how often does Humble Bundle partner with Paizo? o:

![]() |

Those are correct Granta. I got in on both of them. Really good bundles.

![]() |

What can you get by participating in Humble Book Bundle: Pathfinder Worldscape? Get a number of Pathfinder comics from our friends at Dynamite Entertainment such as Pathfinder: Goblins! or Pathfinder: Hollow Mountain, as well as exclusive maps and posters. You can also pick up must-have Pathfinder products like the Pathfinder RPG Beginner Box, Core Rulebook, and Strategy Guide. Plus, we've included everything you need to kick off a starbound adventure with volumes of Pathfinder Adventure Path Iron Gods, People of the Stars, Distant Worlds, and Technology Guide.
It also included the complete season 5 of PFS.

hiyami |

Aaaa, thank you! ;A;
It looks like it does have some repeats in there - Beginner Box, Core Rulebook - but I'm super jealous! I can't believe I missed out on the comics and the maps and folios! I'm super sad right now. I'm going to have to be doubly sure to be on the lookout for the next one! @_@ ...Maybe December 2017? :D

Pathfinders signed up for 5-07 Port Godless for the Gameday should head over to the discussion thread to sort out the party.
With the current sign ups, you are looking at playing high tier with the 4 player adjustment.
Players:
supervillan
Aerondor
JAF0
Uktar

This is more an opinion question for the exalted and venerated leaders here abouts.. but consider this question:
What would you classify as "required" background and informational reading for someone that would like to get a feel and an understanding for Golarion as a whole? What resources would you consider to be integral reading to flesh out characters as well as player knowledge of the realms, politics, history, etc of the world we so deeply immerse ourselves in?
I just recently purchased the Pathfinder Campaign Setting: The Inner Sea World Guide, and although it looks like its going to read like a textbook or overly flavored rule book I plan on making my way through it.. but what other resources would yall recommend?

The Inner Sea World Guide is a fine and rich read. I highly encourage such an endeavor.
I would also take issue with the term "overly flavored rulebook," mainly because that which is being called "flavor" is really the foundation and raison d'etre of the rules. I've always found the term "flavor" very trivializing (there's another word commonly bandied about that's even worse, of course); it makes it sound like it's all a secondary consideration. It's not. It's why the game and its rules exist in the first place.
I've encountered some talk of conflict between "story-based game," and "mechanics-based game," and which one D&D/Pathfinder is supposed to be, but the viewpoint I like best, and consider most true, is actually the notion that D&D/Pathfinder is a unique halfway point between the two, and thorough hybridization thereof, rather than one taking priority over the other. It's not a game for "left brains" or "right brains," but for those who operate with the two lobes united.
