Such a waste... James checks on the robots, quickly. The parts on the shelves will be useful.

Eshenvral Kothiavus |

As Eshenvral follows along at a respectable distance, he keeps on the look out for anything else of particular interest.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 2 = 13

Thalin Shieldbearer |

"If we cin patch one o' 'em up 'nough ta move, could be uh distraction if we need one."
The dwarf gives the old robots a quick once over, and then scans the parts to see if there's much chance.
Engineering: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

rando1000 |

Isis moves to room 16. Stealth check 1d20+18.
Isis has no problem opening the door; unfortunately she has walked into a trap. Even with a successful stealth check, the Azlanti behind the mining pulverizer knows someone just walked into the room, and he knows there are no other Azlanti left on the base.
Reflex Save.
Such a waste... James checks on the robots, quickly. The parts on the shelves will be useful.
The robots are pretty out of date and in bad shape; the parts, as well, are largely out of date, but you might find a market for some of them back on Zothune.
The dwarf gives the old robots a quick once over, and then scans the parts to see if there's much chance.
Engineering
Thallin and/or Joyride could probably get one functional if they wanted to, but it wouldn't function right.

rando1000 |

Isis Reflex save 1d20+11.
Edit: I can't get this to roll a d20. Wtf? Manual at my desk was 12 on the die for 23.
See Thallin's post on the Discussion page:
(dice)1d20+11(/dice) except replace the "(" with "[".

rando1000 |

The pulverizer is a sonic device that crushes rock but leaves most denser minerals intact. It's normally aimed downward in a plant (like the one in this room) where mining carts are pushed under the device. This Azlanti soldier, barricading himself in this room, moved the device to aim directly at the door.
The damage is sonic:
6d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 1, 6, 3) = 14
Hardly any, it seems. Best use of a failed save I've seen in a while.

Eshenvral Kothiavus |

The elf, having now seen witness the trap sprung, rushes up ahead with the knowledge their cover has been blown. He doesn't try to go into the room himself, but he does try to pinpoint the location of anyone else inside.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 2 = 19

Isis tries arc pistol and sneak attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 electricity and 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39 for 3d8 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) = 17. Bleed for her debilitating trick.
Is there any cover I can grab to help my AC?

Sharlavaka |

"We should return to the ship and enegage. Or send the ship out of harm's way." Without a crew to man the guns she would be limited in her ability to fight back.

Thalin Shieldbearer |

"She's up t'ere 'n' we're inna fi't, case ya miss'd 't. Not gonna git t'ere soon."
Thalin moves to support the fight. If he can engage, then he will . . ..
Survival for Trick (using terrain for cover): 1d20 + 16 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 16 + 4 = 34
Tricks through CR 14, so I'll assume good.
Plasma Ring vs Flat-Footed EAC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 Maybe.
Electric & Fire w/ Trick Attack: 1d4 + 3 + 3d8 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (4, 4, 6) = 19 Make target off-target to reduce his attacks against everyone, if I both tricked him and hit.

James "Joyride" Maxwell |

Six-Pack, go!
Move 40, 240 with Jet Dash.

Round 1
Initiative Order: Bad guy, Sixpack/Joyride, Isis, Sharlavaka, Thallin, Esh.
Before Isis can duck for cover behind the doors, the pulse goes off again, requiring another Reflex Save.
Party may act. (since the party is clumped, no need to post in order).

James "Joyride" Maxwell |

Six-Pack pours on the turbo and scampers with nearly unbelievable speed towards Isis and into the room, if he can navigate the other team members.
He will seek out the bogie.
James monitors progress on his forearm screen.

Sharlavaka |

Heading for the sound of the attacks.
Not sure if I'm too far away to act the same turn I move. I've rather list track of where I am. Stupid heat.

rando1000 |

He will seek out the bogie.James monitors progress on his forearm screen.
He can easily make the entire distance. If you want you can make an attack.
Isis easily ducks behind the door this time, avoiding all damage.
Heading for the sound of the attacks.
Not sure if I'm too far away to act the same turn I move. I've rather list track of where I am. Stupid heat.
Sharlavaka is the "S" right outside the initial double doors. He can easily get into either the hallway or the room itself and fire.
Thalin moves to support the fight. If he can engage, then he will.
Thallin takes a moment to get his bearings in the mining room, then spots the villain behind some storage bins. He'll be able to make his attack next round (it's a hit, I'll keep your numbers from this attack).

rando1000 |

Okay, I've moved everybody roughly where I think they would be based on your posts. Let me know if anyone disagrees with the updated map above. "A" is obviously your target.
Sharlavaka, Six-Pack may make their ranged attacks. Isis has not acted, aside from her Reflex Save. Esh has not acted.

James "Joyride" Maxwell |

Six-Pack aims... and fires.
attack, semi-auto pistol - tactical: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Sharlavaka |

The heavy laser weapon popped above Sharlavaka's shoulder and aimed, the targeting system picking out the next victim.
To Hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (8, 4) + 6 = 18

Eshenvral Kothiavus |

Esh, instead of getting into the fight, recognizes that the alert of another ship entering orbit took some measure of priority. Much like he did before when establishing a link with their ship's controls, this time he tries to access and use their sensors.
Computers, Ship Sensors (Wireless connection): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24 Unsure if I can even use the ship's bonus here, so I'll forgo it atm

SerpentViolet |

Isis tries arc pistol and sneak attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 electricity and 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25 for 3d8 ⇒ (7, 2, 3) = 12. Bleed for her debilitating trick.

rando1000 |

Six-Pack aims... and fires.
[Dice=attack, semi-auto pistol - tactical]1d20+7
18 is a hit on his EAC. Please roll damage.
The Azlanti screams in pain as he is shot up by Sharlavaka and Six-Pack.
Esh finds himself out of range to connect to the ship's computers at the moment. He may choose another action if he wishes.
Meanwhile, on the ship, the captain is...?

rando1000 |

I'll deal with the location indicated.
I screwed up and mistook your attack for melee, that's why I told you not to attack this round. Since your weapon is ranged, you perform the attack you rolled earlier now, if you choose, rather than next round.

Uret Jet |

My range on his computer is III, planet-wide. Is it not still within atmo?

James "Joyride" Maxwell |

James "Joyride" Maxwell wrote:Six-Pack aims... and fires.18 is a hit on his EAC. Please roll damage.
pistol damage, sorry: 1d6 ⇒ 5

James "Joyride" Maxwell |

Play to your strengths, Sir... find out why they're here, negotiate the safe return of their man.
Create the win-win. If all else fails, bluff! It's showtime.
James tries to breathe.
Esh, can we point that cannon skyward? Can we target a ship?

SerpentViolet |

I'm a hell of a face, but not the best shooter when it comes to the big guns."[/b]
With 6 ranks Piloting and Dex 18 you're a great shot.

Thalin Shieldbearer |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

It ain't just about modifiers. It is also about he can operate EXACTLY ONE station per combat round. Pilot, engineer, science officer, or gunner. He needs to not get them to shoot at him.

rando1000 |

My range on his computer is III, planet-wide. Is it not still within atmo?
Doesn't necessarily mean a 24 is a success to find something in one round. I'm pretty sure you rolled really well the first time you did it, and the ship was a lot closer. You CAN succeed, a 24 just doesn't.

Sharlavaka |

As per usual, Sharlavaka approached the enemy soldier, continuing to fire. "Surrender now, or we will kill you."
To Hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
666!? The number of the Feast!

SerpentViolet |

Isis tries arc pistol and sneak attack again: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 electricity and 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25 for 3d8 ⇒ (5, 7, 2) = 14. Bleed again for her debilitating trick.
Edit: Well at least I'm consistent.

Thalin Shieldbearer |

Trying to properly contribute, Thalin tries to use the giant weapon as covering terrain.
Survival for Trick (using terrain for cover): 1d20 + 16 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 16 + 4 = 31
Tricks through CR 21, so I'll assume good.
Plasma Ring vs Flat-Footed EAC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 Probably not.
Electric & Fire w/ Trick Attack: 1d4 + 3 + 3d8 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (2, 7, 1) = 14 Make target off-target to reduce his attacks against everyone, if I both tricked him and hit.

Eshenvral Kothiavus |

The elf for the time being abandons his first plan. "We can always give it a shot."
He realizes half a second later how that could be interpreted as a pun, and cringes to himself even as he tries to establish some connection with the canon's console, if it's even possible.
Computers: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34

rando1000 |

as he tries to establish some connection with the canon's console, if it's even possible.
Computers = 34
Success! Esh can make contact with the rudimentary computer controlling the pulse cannon.
Then, before everyone else's actions...
The Azlanti takes aim at Thalin, he having done the most damage so far.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 vs. KAC
3d8 + 7 ⇒ (5, 4, 7) + 7 = 23
At this point, Thalin, Sharlavaka, and Isis' actions go off.
Joyride/Sixpack and the Captain may still act, and then that's it for round 2.

James "Joyride" Maxwell |

The drone takes aim once more and shoots.
James runs towards the action. Does parley ever come into your playbook, folks?
Six-Pack, attack pistol: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Six-Pack, damage pistol: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Eshenvral Kothiavus |

"I've got a connection." He informs Joyride. "And no, not typically."
