The robots are pretty out of date and in bad shape; the parts, as well, are largely out of date, but you might find a market for some of them back on Zothune.

Sharlavaka stands watchfully as Joyride examines the 'bots. Esh does sees the route that Isis has taken, when suddenly he hears a very rending and repeated mechanical SLAM SLAM SLAM noise.


Meanwhile aboard the ship, Otis, from the science station, calls over to Captain Tamrat in the pilot's seat.

"Ah, crap. Cap'n, we got company. Ship just popped into orbit. Looks like a troop carrier, configuration unknown. Good bet it's Azlanti."

The pulverizer is a sonic device that crushes rock but leaves most denser minerals intact. It's normally aimed downward in a plant (like the one in this room) where mining carts are pushed under the device. This Azlanti soldier, barricading himself in this room, moved the device to aim directly at the door.

The damage is sonic:

6d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 1, 6, 3) = 14

Hardly any, it seems. Best use of a failed save I've seen in a while.

The elf, having now seen witness the trap sprung, rushes up ahead with the knowledge their cover has been blown. He doesn't try to go into the room himself, but he does try to pinpoint the location of anyone else inside.

Sharlavaka is the "S" right outside the initial double doors. He can easily get into either the hallway or the room itself and fire.

Thallin takes a moment to get his bearings in the mining room, then spots the villain behind some storage bins. He'll be able to make his attack next round (it's a hit, I'll keep your numbers from this attack).

Okay, I've moved everybody roughly where I think they would be based on your posts. Let me know if anyone disagrees with the updated map above. "A" is obviously your target.

Sharlavaka, Six-Pack may make their ranged attacks. Isis has not acted, aside from her Reflex Save. Esh has not acted.

Esh, instead of getting into the fight, recognizes that the alert of another ship entering orbit took some measure of priority. Much like he did before when establishing a link with their ship's controls, this time he tries to access and use their sensors.

It ain't just about modifiers. It is also about he can operate EXACTLY ONE station per combat round. Pilot, engineer, science officer, or gunner. He needs to not get them to shoot at him.

Doesn't necessarily mean a 24 is a success to find something in one round. I'm pretty sure you rolled really well the first time you did it, and the ship was a lot closer. You CAN succeed, a 24 just doesn't.
