Hey guys, if any of you are interested, I could use one or two more players in my eastern-themed PBP Mists of War. I've hemorrhaged players at an astounding rate; three dropped due to sudden "oh crap" IRL issues, one dropped due to less sudden by medically dire "oh crap" IRL issues, and I think one more is about to go as he has no idea what to do with the crazy build he made. (His main battle tactic is "run away" and he's spent the whole game thus far trying to have a conversation with an Erinyes.) I'm down to a core group of four solid players now (a Xorn sorcerer who is an advisor to the Emperor, an Aasimar cleric of Shelyn, a noble human Samurai, and a human Gaijin Samurai in the palace guard), but I could really use another samurai if someone would like to play one, possibly even a member of Clan Sera, rivals of Clan Shoto, to which one of the PCs belongs, and then...well I guess the other one could be anything, really.
Anyway! I know you guys are all really busy so no hard feelings if you can't or don't want to, or if my DM'ing style isn't your thing or etc. etc., but since this is an insanely awesome group I thought I'd post here first before looking around in general.
DM Barcas, I know you proposed a build in the original LFP thread, so if you still want in I'll give you first crack at it.
Other than that, if anyone else is interested, please read the linked LFP thread, above, for my character creation rules, and if any of you are interested I'll work it out from there w/r/t where to post builds, etc.
Also, apologies for threadjacking here, I imagine it'll be a brief break. :-)
Jemini: congrats to your pal, that's awesome!

Ah... thanks for the offer Taisper; I would love to play an Eastern-themed campaign (I'm totally looking forward to Jade Regent!) but with Carrion Crown I've got six pbps and four real-life campaigns running (other than the one I GM). I just have to draw the line somewhere.
But I hope somebody else in the group can step up (yes! You DM Barcas! ...you know you want to...)

Hmmm tempting.
STR 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
INT 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
WIS 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
CHA 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 1) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 5) = 16 = 13
Did I do that right? I haven't rolled dice for ability scores in forever.
That would end me up with
STR 16
DEX 9
CON 13
INT 7
WIS 18
CHA 13
PB: 28
Not bad I suppose. I'm thinking of doing a Tengu Zen Archer Monk. How does that sound? Maybe I'll put together a profile. Level 6?
EDIT: From looking at other people in that thread putting together characters, do I have to declare which stats I'm rolling for when I make the epic rolls? I'd assumed I do, but other people seem to not be doing that. If not, I'll do:
STR 16
DEX 13
CON 13
INT 9
WIS 18
CHA 7

How whats everyones plan for our inievtable deaths?
Its kind of built into Tandlara that she will be okay with dying beyond a certain point, and frankly I like a game where death is infrequent, but permanent. I also like playing new characters because I'm terrible for having ideas while playing a character.
Especially as long as some/most of the original cast remain, so it suits me that its a very personal preference. Unless my character has a huge reason to come back!

Sounds like you have a taker, lol. I am another who needs to watch his gaming commitments, with my Living Pathfinder involvement I think another game would probably leave me oversubscribed. Verik would want to be raised if it is practically doable. But I usually think it a bit pie in the sky before 5th level.

Yohei |

Here's a statblock. I'm going to be stretching it a bit to fit this game in, but I think I'll be able to do it. I have 3 games I'm playing in right now (counting Carrion Crown), 2 I'm GMing, and 1 on hiatus.
I have no idea what kind of background or personality this character will have yet, but I'll think on that tonight or tomorrow and maybe put something up.

Taisper Stozs |

I might take you up on it. I did roll amazing stats in that thread. Let me think about.
Sounds good! Just lemme know.
Sure you don't want Shuriken? Hahahaha
Ha! Egad, no. Dude keeps sniffin' around the original LFP, too. Yeesh.
@smashthedean: Cool! No rush, obviously, just drop by the OOC thread when you feel ready to jump in. It would be rad if Yohei could be part of the palace guard, but certainly not required. Maybe part of a team of tengu archers, specialists.

What's the current roster in Mists of War?
Shoto Imuri - human nobleman, samurai 4/ninja 2
San Pen - xorn sorcerer - advisor to the emperorTokine Nagano - Aasimar cleric of Shelyn - Head Curator of the Imperial Temple of Cultural Exchange
Azami Ito - human samurai - gaijin, member of the palace guard

[ooc]Maybe we could go EAST,NORTHWEST,NORTHEAST,EAST,EAST->OLEGS.
That's Hill, Hill, Hill, Plain. And we go around the mountains between us and Olegs' We can explore that any old time, but I'm up for avoiding another mountainous area until we resupply and the weather warms up.
And we'll have 9 hexes explored out of the 58 in the chartered area. That's 15% in one run. Another 5 runs where we explore 11 hexes would totally explore the area! Though I'm all for letting us go with the flow exploration wise, this has been a mighty acheivement! We need some time at Oleg's, I just pray we haven't been gone too long.

A snowball fight? You guys are awesome!
As to character death. I'm on the edge there. I like making characters (as my RL DM will atest too, I'm on char no 4 now in the last stretch of Rise of the Runelords) but I also like my characters. So I recon it'll have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

downrightamazed |

@downrightamazed DM Barcas here. What do you think about a judo-style monk? Uses readied actions to utilize Improved Ki Throw, flinging enemies all over the place. Not sure on personality or history yet, as I was only following Mists of War casually.
I dig it! There are a number of ways we could work in such a character given where the plot currently is.

I seriously recommend reading it, stayed up till 6:30 am reading it - so good! Its strange how it can dip into so many traditional fantasy tropes and yet seem fresh original and brilliant. In the Name of the Wind is also an excellent read, I have read it three times in the year I have owned it which is about the highest praise I can give a novel.

![]() |

Both brilliant, its 6:50 am here and I have just finished my second all nighter, lol.
@DM Baracus: I have actually been calling Virtue a dappled grey, somthing like THIS.

I have no doubt he will, there have been soft announcement before, but the important part is that his publishers have put this up as the official date.
Yes, I know. You've all seen publication dates before: dates in 2007, 2008, 2009. None of those were ever hard dates, however. Most of them... well, call it wishful thinking, boundless optimism, cockeyed dreams, honest mistakes, whatever you like.
This date is different. This date is real.

DM Barcas |

If you were so inclined, you could actually use the Hound Master archetype from RPGSuperstar 2011.

Berrin Myrdal |

mmyyees.. I'm more inclined toward forming a bond with Bessie actually. Maybee spend some time with the our good nobleman back at Oleg's getting familiar with animals and riding, finding out Bessie's actually quite a good horse and have an embarasing moment where Berrin apologizes and renames her...
Probably go 2 levels of Fighter yet before switching over. Wepon Specialization man, wepon specialization.

Zander Orlovsky |

I'm not sure if blood cougars differ at all, but here's a snippet I just read about Thylacines:
The thylacine was one of only two marsupials to have a pouch in both sexes (the other being the water opossum). The male thylacine had a pouch that acted as a protective sheath, covering the male's external reproductive organs while he ran through thick brush.
That sounds like a handy thing to have. Also, I've been keeping my map up to date and have a link in my profile. Here's the current copy:
