Considering you were right next to the dude and your action came before his, I'm assuming you still had time to deliver the killing blow. You were just so focused on delivering justice that you were deaf to the shouts of your companions ;)

Ahahahaa, true that. Also, I need to have a more readily available repertoire of stupid jokes so I don't have to waste time looking 'em up. Sheesh.

I really like how despite Taisper's happy-go-lucky attitude, when he's got the will of Abadar in him, he'll end a man's life without a second thought. It's refreshing to have the "does what needs to be done" character also be the class clown and everyone's buddy instead of a regular grim loner type or whatever.

Correct me or update as we go along:

- Jemini: busy fighting fire at stable
- Verik: looking to aid Oleg and Svetlana, bucketline with Tandlara
- Zander: attempts to burst open the door to where Oleg and Svetlana are trapped
- Taisper: joins bucketline with Tandlara
- Tandlara: bucketline

Oh hey thanks! I don't have much technique as a writer so keeping him on-voice is tough (in a fun way), glad to know it's appreciated. :-D

And, to be fair, DM Barcas and Vagrant-Poet had a strong hand in the concept; I just agreed with them and you that it'd be a fun change to do this type of character this way.

Taisper is about to go in after them, pending DM post. His goal is to get a non-burning spot just inside the window and crawl in. He has Light cast on his morningstar so he's hoping that can give Oleg and Svetlana a star to guide by, "hoping" being the operative word here. Worst case he can start putting out the fire from inside as the endpoint of the bucket line.

I've got to admit to being confused by the locations of windows and doors on the map. Doors have no black line right? And I'm assuming windows aren't shown and white squares are beds?

The only windows I know of for sure are Q13 and W13. So, front of the house, I reckon.

Yeah depending on how dire O&S's situation is in the house, Zander may take drastic actions that will require will saves and probably a hero point to try to save them. If breaking the door doesn't work though, he's probably going to try to chop it down with his greatsword rather than head over to the window as you all have that entrance pretty covered and Zander really doesn't want to get close to the fire if he doesn't have to.

wow. I took a nap and the thread exploded!

phew... I've never seen such a fast pbp, it's gettin almost confusing with people going back and editing while I'm posting! lol!

Yes sorry about that, I posted but had been ninja'd by Taisper and his post changed what Verik was doing so... Not a problem when there are hours between posts, but here wow! Zoom!

Haha indeed! This is some furious posting going on, I'm lovin' it!

Sovereign Court

Regarding Zander's burns I'm assuming that's something you wan to keep for the character. Can we say that the flesh has already "healed" and thus cannot be returned to normal by healing magic? Maybe a higher level like regeneration would work sort of thing.

Verik would butt in if he thought he could help you see.

Yeah it's definitely something that's beyond magical healing at this point. The fact that he is even alive today is the result of a pretty huge amount of magical healing to begin with. I'm thinking it would require a Greater Restoration or Miracle/Wish to restore his face. Verik could definitely offer if he wanted, but he'd know that none of the spells that he has right now can cure scars; that would be Lesser Restoration for even light scarring I'd say and higher level versions of that for heavier scarring, but I'll leave the specifics up to Barcas if we ever cross that road.

Sovereign Court

Works for me.

Also an aside, modern day real world acceptances aside, I'd imagine that people of Golarian probably would be pretty freaked out by someone that looked like Zander. While it's true that half-orcs roam city streets, there are also horrible undead monsters and abominations that common people could pretty easily mistake Zander for with a few sprinklings of ignorance added to the mix. Feel comfortable to put your real-life considerations for deformed and handicapped people aside and allow your character to be a little grossed out :)

I made Top 32, so I might be a little light on posting for a few days.

And her avatar matches her. I think Tandlara just took a shine to Zander, its a pity I can't write that kind of heartfelt emotion very well.

She was trying to make him feel, better, but not forget. She'd never tell him his scars weren't bad, she'd just remind him that they aren't important to who he is. Didn't really get that across.

I'm thinking the bard she loved 100 years had a gruesome injury too. I think Tandlara would feel kinship with the damaged and sad people of the world, because despite being a calm-faced unblemished elf, she considers herself a little broken.

Congratulations! A friend of mine made it too (the hard to pronounce "Phlebotomist's Gloves")

Sovereign Court

Verik is probably more the sort who would glance out of the corner of his eye and then torture himself with guilt for doing so.

For the record I thought your post was great Tandlara, its really interesting to see how all the different characters interact gives us a different viewpoint on each of them in the pairing.

Really enjoying the cousins thing with Taisper to, very fun to play Verik's as exasperated, annoyed by, fond of and jealous of Taisper all at the same time, lol.

I thought you played it excellently and I'm really enjoying how all of the characters are interacting and developing. I only hope my reply does justice to your initial post :)

Also, for backstory brainstorming fun, what if maybe the Bard suffered some horrible injury in a battle or as a result of the artifact your backstory mentioned. Maybe it sucked the life out of him, but he lived on for a few years crippled and deteriorating and Tandlara stayed with him through it all.

Oh I love that. He didn't die a heroic death like all of his stories told of heroes, he was simply left a sad shell until he died, and Tandlara retreated from the world in bitter dissillusionment for nearly a century. Which is why she's so desperate to be rekindled by the passion of humans. She's all they way back at level 1, she was this close to fading away, and dying in some pointless, meaningless way herself.

I like it. You know, I normally don't play nonhuman characters, but with Tandlara I'm starting to enjoy being an elf, because its so different and alien. It helps that I get to explore that difference in a really good roleplaying enviroment, I actually feel an intense emotional attachment to this game.

So bravo to our GM, and to all of you for making this so intense.

Male Human Cool Dude 20

My biggest problem with elf characters in the past has been filling in all of those years with suitable backstory, but your approach of having her de-level with age is brilliant.

Bravo indeed to all. The character development so far has been pretty intense and I can only imagine where all of these characters will end up as the levels progress.

Sovereign Court

All too often players who run fantasy races simply play a stereotype, but I can definitely say Tandalara is far removed from that.

Anyway off to bed, night all, try not to post too much without me! :)

I'm having a RL game tonight so I might not post much, heads up!

Oh man I hope you're not using the IRL definition. :-/

I've got the loot sheet up. A couple of things to notice, I've added the second tab labed "Party Loot" which contains the items that were too expensive to work in this loot split. Also since the split ended us up with an extra 0.33 copper pieces each, I've added 2 copper to our party gold fund, which we can add more to later if we feel like it or just let our spare change pile up until we need torches or something. Let me know if you have any questions/comments/complains/glorious praise.

Also, I asked this earlier but didn't hear back. Are we going to be tracking arrow consumption for mundane arrows? If so I'll have to claim those 85 we had, otherwise I'll just add them to the party fund and assume they just get used up as we go along.

We won't track them unless we get into a situation where supplies matter.

oh man.. that word can mean a lot of things... I had no idea it was so degrading, I'm very sorry.

If I can choose a meaning to it I'll take: affectionate mocking term for one who does something revolting yet funny. as the definition *sheepis grin* sorry...

Offline for some hrs now, hope I can check in before bed otherwise I'll see ya in the morning.

Sounds good. I do imagine however that with the exploring we're going to start doing we're going to want to keep track of rations so I propse that we just pool all of our rations together on the party loot sheet and then subtract 6 from the total every day.

Ah, no worries. I only wanted to clarify 'cos I'd never heard the word before and I wanted to get a bead on Berrin's tone, no feelings hurt I promise. :-) We'll go with that definition, works for me.

So wait, you can sleep in leather armor without gaining the Fatigued condition? How did I not know this.

Should I put you down for a suit? We'll probably be sleeping in the wilderness and getting attacked at night a lot so it would be a good idea to get some light armor for everyone.

I have to say I was shocked when I saw that.

In Ireland it always means the urban dictionary definition, and its not even the kind of insult you share with friends. You chumily call a friend a bastard, but not a knacker. But I just reckoned it was a matter of cultural dissonance.

Please do, thanks! I'll write something in the IC thread to support it.

Like I say, I just didn't know you could do that. Man, I feel like every day I run into some new rule detail I missed. Bleargh. >_<

I'd never heard it before, being American.

In regards to Jemini's question, you haven't found any horses. You also haven't really gone too far out of the fort.

Male

Hi guys, sorry again for Berrin's use of the word knacker. I seriously thought the word could be used for joking, like calling someone an ass in a cute way...

I didn't really know the word itself, I'm familiar with it's use in like beeing knackered as in beeing tired or to drunk to speak but seriously had no idea it held any of the meanings described in urban dictionary.

Again I'm terribly sorry and hope noone will think less of me for not having proper control over the language, english is my third language after icelandic and danish (although I couldn't speak danish to save my life) *vaves foreigner-getoutofjail-free-card and ducks behind desk*

Male Human Cool Dude 20

I'm in the camp of having been oblivious to it being such a serious insult as well so I say don't sweat it.

I have no problem in my area with the use of the word. Then again, South Africa is diametrically opposed to Ireland for most purposes ;)

I'm sure we're all mature enough to not take such things personally anyway.

Male Human Heretic 5 Master of Many Styles 1

Ditto and Ditto to @smashthedean and @Jemini. I knew what you were going for, it was just my own curiosity that made me look up a word I didn't know. Totally don't sweat it. :-)
