Interesting. Why the spread-out stats?

Afraid I don't understand the question.

STR 13 DEX 16 CON 12 INT 17 WIS 12 CHA 11

Just a strangely spread-out set of stats rather than concentrated in INT. Do you intend to take him an Eldritch Knight route?

I prefer to be able to stand on my own...take some lumps and deal them out as well as casting.

Is that a problem. It fits the concept I have in my mind of Faisal. He's an adventurer...not just a spell slinger.

@Faisal No, it's certainly not. It's somewhat refreshing to see someone who is well-rounded rather than being ridiculously min-maxed.

Okay, I've decided on the last player: LoreKeeper as Jemini of Lebeda.

It's very difficult to make these choices. If anyone wants to jump in and steal the other players for their own campaign, that would be fine with me. We could even coordinate it with the second group being sent from a different location, such as the northern part of Brevoy, Kyonin, or even Galt.

We needed someone melee-oriented with a good Charisma. Alas, Elf arcane caster was covered.

Well, congrats to LoreKeeper. Definitely have an interesting group there. And thank you DMBarcas for the consideration. I will be keeping an eye on this adventure.

Sad face. Dang.

For those of us that didn't make the cut, any chance you may give a brief reason why? I'm just curious as to what it was about my writing style or character concept that didn't appeal? So that I can improve for future applications. Can't get better if I don't know what I need to improve.

Thanks :) - and good luck to all others, another GM will come along soon I hope.

Sure.

Khaladon, Chris Banks, and randall793 never really submitted characters.

While I liked Obard, I never really felt much of a connection with the character's background. While it doesn't have to be "OMG SO TRAGIC IM BATMAN", it didn't capture my imagination. I think he'd be a good addition to a party, just not this one. Sir Gavin had the same issue.

Orin Ro didn't follow up much, which is never a good sign. Good responses and continued interest help the recruitment process.

Erdukk just didn't fit quite right, unfortunately. He nearly made it in, just found himself in competition for the last spot.

Betony had two issues working against her: one is a short posting history, while the other was that the "protector of the forest innocents" wasn't quite my taste. It might work for another GM, though.

Faisal came in pretty late and was in competition for the last spot, which he didn't really fit. We also already had an elf arcane caster.

I picked Zander first because of his interesting and unique backstory, as well as the fairly bold move of playing a badly scarred character. I chose Berrin (as a proven player in my Star Wars game) and Talandra (because the change to Forlorn witch of plants really captured my imagination) next. Needing a cleric of some sort, I liked both Taisper and Verik and was able to take both once they worked it out. I also wanted to see how the two of them interacted. The final choice was Jemini, who filled out what we needed for that sixth spot and would contrast with Zander well. (Not wanting 5 males to 1 female game into consideration for the final spot as well.)

Any specific questions?

REASONS

Thanks, I appreciate that. It helps me for future applications for PBP games.

Well, I see I've allowed myself to be distracted for a bit long. I'd gotten about halfway through the background before I saw the cutoff. Oh well, live and learn.

Maybe another kingdom then, thank you for at least considering me.

Out of curiosity, what was the biggest hangup with him? I'd like to know so that I can improve upon my submissions in the future.

As I said, I nearly picked Edrukk. One reason I never really got into his character was because of the disparate portions of his character (bard, craftsman, raised by humans, etc) without much linking them.

A Dwarf Bard is a pretty tough concept to work with functionally as their -2 CHA is pretty harsh. If I were set on making one I'd probably do something like:

LG Dwarf Bard (arcane duelist)

STR 16
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 9
CHA 14

For stats and then running Battleaxe or Warhammer and Shield.

I've never built a bard before so I did the best I could; I probably could have made more changes, but I didn't know what parts where considered good and what parts were seen as needing changes.

If you're looking to improve your Bards, I'd recommend checking out this kickin' rad guide: Treantmonk's Guide to Bards

I'm less concerned about bards specifically, than I am about being able to make a character of whatever race/class combination is required to let me play. My schedule is looking more and more like pbp is the only way I am going to get to play very often, and so far I can't even get in my foot in the door to get the experience needed to know how to improve. The one character that has gotten approved, the DM has been silent for the last 2 weeks.

Good luck to those picked :). Didn't get an inspiration soon enough to post a character though.
