Well, interesting. USA has no such holiday, though I think that it would certainly be helpful. Our closest is Halloween.

Sovereign Court

Oh bother, and I did not ogle anybody, how goche(sp?).

The Ultimate Magic previews are starting. Once the book comes out, you can tweak your characters to include the new stuff.

What has me laughing the most is the bard archetype "celebrity". What? You give up inspire courage to get a chihuahua familiar? lol :D

I'm pretty pumped to get my mits on that book. I doubt I'll be making any changes to either of my characters, but I could see the mooncaller or pack lord Druids possibly being a good fit for Wesh if they end up being worthwhile. I know Duron will most likely find some useful spells and feats and the like :)

Incoming! If not for Zander, you'd be dealing with another ambush.

Sovereign Court

I'll definitely take a look at the clerical archetypes, but my guess is none of them will be quite suitable for Verik - although I have some hopes for cloistered cleric. Probably be new spells though, the clerical spell-list could use some spicing up!

As for Wesh, well, he is already an archetype as a Lion Shaman, so its perhaps unlikely he will be able to fit in another.

Regarding the encounter are we actually sleeping for the night yet? I want to know if Verik has changed into his chainshirt pjs yet.

The expedition was not yet asleep, and only preparing for it. Everyone should be in normal gear. Zander likely spotted them in the positioning stages of their raid, which would have surely come in the middle of the night.

Had an unexpected internet downtime the last 3 days - will catch-up tomorrow. Hopefully at work if it isn't too busy...

Sovereign Court

Anyone get to see the first episode of A Game of Thrones btw? Thought it was pretty darn impressive myself, I'm happy with all the characters, and Peter Dinklage rocks my socks off as Tyrion - the Imp beingquite possibly my favorite character of all time.

Sovereign Court

Oh bum, just noticed that the leader was previously listed as having a +3 will save as opposed to the +1 he was listed with in the last post - that means he passes sadly. Ah well its a dice game after all.

I did catch the GoT premeire and was also super impressed. My girlfriend who watched it with me and just finished reading the first book was super pissed that the wedding night scene with Dany/Drogo was way more rapey than in the books, but I think it made sense given how they couldn't really have filmed it as written and it also served the purpose of filling in a lot of her internal monologue later about how she hates her life (before she starts to like it).

Minor nitpicks aside though, I think they did a fantastic job and it will definitely prove to be the best fantasy tv series of all time (not that it has a lot of competition in that field). Did you hear they just announced they've renewed it for Season 2?

Sovereign Court

Yep, jazzed about that, the scene with Danerys was rather uncomfortable, but I think that kinda works. Its much better tackled this way, 10 hours should just about be enough to tackle a book a season, a movie just would not have been able to encompass the plot properly.

Sovereign Court

Grrr, frustrating - but he would have provoked three AOs had I rolled a 13 or less for his save so I still think it was the better option... More grist for Verik's self doubt I guess.

Female Elf Witch 4

I'm with smashthedeans girlfriend. I watched the show last night, and they totally missed the point of that scene. Which is to set up Khal Drogo as more than just some brute.

Otherwise impressed, even thoguh I was initially skeptical of the casting of Robert and Eddard.

Female Elf Witch 4

Jemini: 'Finish him!'

FATALITY!!!

Yeah, I'm hoping next week they are able to fix things some, but we'll see. I'm imagining they had to squeeze things into the first episode more than others to establish all of the characters and time it to end where they did.

Sovereign Court

Yes even with 10 hours to play with there is a great deal to fit in.

Sovereign Court

Trouble is although Verik has selective channeling he can only exclude 2 creatures from his healing, but its a nice quick fix up out of combat.

Yep. Some criminal masterminds in my city. The bank in question is in my district. All the good bank robberies happen on my days off.

Can't decide wich is more stupid; Doing the crime or posting it on facebook... but yeah, lol!

Female Elf Witch 4

The stupidity of criminals often boggles my mind, but I suppose it shouldn't. If they were smart guys they wouldn't need to rob a bank. There aren't too many robbers who are like the various bank robbing geniuses you see in movies.

hah! Reminds me of the movie Megamind. The difference between a villain and a supervillain? PRESENTATION!!

Facebook: bad presentation...

...

And @Zander: I had a good laugh at the falcon :)

Sovereign Court

I am a bit confused by Taisper's auras that he sees, because I am pretty sure we have not met anything that would give off an aura yet. Probably not Orlivanch, and not the bugbears - except maybe the leader though I really doubt it.

To give off a faint aura a creature must have at least 5 HD unless it is either undead or an outsider.

Is this Taisper being crazy or do we have a rules misunderstanding?

PFSRD wrote:

Creature/Object Aura Power

Aligned creature1 (HD) 5 or lower 5-10 11-25 26-50 51 or higher

its in a table, there is an errata? next to part of it, but a search of the site quickly shows that this was because it was a change to 3.5 and Paizo intend the 5 or lower to be in place. This of course applies to all the detect alignment spells.

Just fluff. Taisper can't tell the difference between his (relatively) new Detect Alignment at-will ability and his own righteous and misguided convictions, so right now as far as he knows anyone he fights has an evil aura, and he doesn't know that the 'auras' he sees for most things are just in his head. Since we've not fought anything that is powerful enough to actually put out an aura for real, he has nothing to contradict his mistaken belief. He'll be in for a rude surprise, though, when that Sp finally works and shows an enemy to not be aligned as he thinks it is.

Sovereign Court

Ah good, I thought it might be that, yes that will make for some fun RP! I can't imagine we are far off either! :)

Male Human Heretic 5 Master of Many Styles 1

Oh man, you're right. Probably just a level or two. Eep!

Sovereign Court

I doubt it, if we are third level now - I imagine this will pretty much have leveled the rest of you - I would think it will happen this level. 5th level is very reasonable for a 6 man 3rd level party after all - at a guess I would say we have already faced 4hd foes or at least foe.

Female Elf Witch 4

I can't say I didn't see Taispars incredulity coming. I was wondering if anyone would launch a complaint over Tandlra suggesting we put them to sleep permanently.

Should be interesting, as far as Tandlara is concerned, bugbears deserve no mercy as bugbears. They hunt her people and where thier ears as trophies.

Interesting that the old trope playable race racism would come into it, I mean bugbears are evil, and mental, but is it okay to assume that? Where do you draw the line? Because its not like real life, almost all bugbears are serial killers by their very genes.

Should be an interesting conversation, but I hope the fight doesn't get too heated.

Male Human Heretic 5 Master of Many Styles 1

Actually, Taisper had no intention of bringing it up. Verik's SM check totally caught me by surprise. It also crushed my comparatively meager +6 to Bluff. :-(

I would also like to say that I think Charlie the Falcon should be a nominee for the group's mascot. He'd look great on a t-shirt.

Sovereign Court

I'm pretty much using my own view point as Verik here. Assuming Bugbears are unfamiliar, but all I've heard is that they are vicious killers. If we just met them I would be wary, but not instigate, if they attacked, no mercy - well not torture of anything, but I'm not going to try lugging a creature larger and stronger than me about especially if they outnumber us, etc.

Verik would have liked one temporarily spared for interrogation purposes, but did not think about that until after he was done healing everyone. If he can get one to talk - and he has that speak language spell prepared in case the flunkies don't speak common - then he would probably be against killing it, though only if he can come up with a practical option. Like getting it to negotiate and offer trade to its fellows if there is a settlement or tribe. Verik believes that even evil people ought to see the benefits of civilization if they only thought about it.

Sovereign Court

Isn't Reggie our mascot?

And yes Verik's Sense Motive is pretty impressive, and will grow more so as his wisdom, ranks, and silver tongued haggler increase. I really like Silver Tongued Haggler its not that good at the moment, but its a half your level - rounded down - bonus to bluff, diplomacy and sense motive. And Verik gets enough uses that he can use it on virtually every check. :)

WOOT! Their showing Going Postal tonight on TV :)

Cool, cool. Right on. And see, this is exactly what Taisper was planning on happening. He figured "oh the sleeping one will be made to stand trial," so then when it got axed, he was completely flabbergasted.

Taisper just thinks it's awfully convenient that Berrin gets to slaughter a sleeping innocent with no consequence while he got put through the wringer. Everyone seems really blase about it, in his eyes, which is frustrating for him since he's trying so hard now to play by "the rules," which he doesn't really understand to begin with, and which now suddenly seem even more complicated.

Paranoid delusions of persecution? Oh you betcha.

Also, to be fair, if Taisper had heard Jemini trying to make Berrin stop, that would have changed a LOT, but I'm assuming since Berrin couldn't hear it, nor could Taisper.

Sovereign Court

I enjoyed it, was last year I think they showed it over here, but a good version - much better than the other Terry Pratchett adaptions. The lead actor is great, he was the brightest point in Coupling - a comedy series - and has had some good rolls since. I really hope they do the other Moist Von Lipwig books with him.

Have you seen the Color of Magic one with David Jason btw Berrin? Decent you can find it here in case you have not... The Color of Magic. And Part 2

Great debate, guys.

Only 9 more posts until 2,000!

Here's to the best Play-by-Post group in the entire boards!

Yup. Seen it, and now... watching it again :D thanks!

Cheers!

Sovereign Court

Now if someone has a link to the Wyrd Sisters cartoon, looking at that stuff made me want to see it again - its been a while. The Witches books are my favorite from the Pratchett stable, especially Lords and Ladies, which I just finished listening to.

Post 2000 goes to Taisper! Huzzah!

Didn't he get #1000 too?

Start leveling up. You'll all level up to level 3 when you return to Oleg's.

..aren't we heading for the boggard? That's what? Two days out?

Male Human Heretic 5 Master of Many Styles 1

Heh. I did get #1,000. That's hilarious. I didn't try for this one, just happened.

Sovereign Court

I'm a bit too knackered to make a coherent post today - very early morning. But I am a little confused by Hero Points, we started with one and gain one per level, nobody has been awarded any, is that correct? Meaning Verik would have 3 - not having spent any?

This is what'll happen to Jemini

Jemini's saves are going to be absudly high!

I've had a busy 4-day weekend with my girlfriend's birthday on Thursday and then her family coming up for her's and her niece's birthday on Saturday and then making us Easter brunch this morning so haven't gotten to post much or have Zander weigh in on the various debating (I guess it's been taking him a really long time to clean off his face), but I should be able to get back into things this coming week.

As for leveling up:

Archer 3

DM Barcas wrote:
