Question; Am I the guide? Cause Berrin bought a compass and a footprint book for aid in such matters.
Cool. I actually just took survival to reflect his background. I saw him living of the land as part of his soldiering and when he left the band and again before his time when he found himself in Restov. I hadn't planed on maxing it in ranks, Berrin will dip into fighter knowledge skills on coming levels.
It's still good to have it for Aid Another :D

No horse here either.
Looks well rounded and people are asking for high charisma :)
Me, I'd never go higher that 16 cha playing a paladin. Maybee start of with 14 and use the level increases to boost it. Reason: Paladins only get 6 spell levels. And your not planing on getting anywhere near that.
True, charisma will play a significant role when we get the kingdom up and running but I'm betting that there will be lots of stuff to do before that and lots of stuff to do in-between. I'm just not convinced that the extra +1 on the rolls will be missed all that much. And as a paladin/fighter you have other roles to play than politics. Melee for one.
You could use that argument on the other end as well but I guess it boils down to how you envision your character. As I said; the group is asking for high charisma. All I'm saying is that there are other roles to play besides ruling.
Off to bed too.

Also my most active posting times are from 9AM - 6PM PST during weekdays with sporadic checkings through the evening depending on what's going on and then usually at least a look before bed around midnight. Weekends will probably be pretty sporadic for me, but I'll do my best to keep on top of things.

DM Barcas |

My posting can be pretty variable. The one constant I have is my sleeping schedule, which is about 0400 to 1200, although that's been iffy lately as well. I have ample opportunity to post from my phone during quiet spots at work (which is frequent on Saturday and Sunday, but rare on Monday and Tuesday) with Wednesday/Thursday/Friday off.

DM Barcas |

grrrr - got post eaten. Quick recap
So to eliminate the dip I should remove oracle. Alternatively I can eliminate fighter entirely (and keep a 1 level dip in oracle). Or even stay a pure paladin (and reduce Charisma to 18 and adjust a bit to moderate the Dexterity score).I understand the concern with regards to dipping, I usually play pure classes myself. On the other hand, sometimes I like tinkering and re-flavoring mechanics to create something original. :)
I'm perfectly fine with any of the options mentioned; let me know and I'll adjust her ASAP
Out of those two options, I prefer pure paladin. But it's your character, not mine.

Zander Orlovsky |

I'd also vote pure Paladin unless you're set on the Oracle for story purposes. While the Cha to AC ability is handy I don't think its worth the combination of the curse and the lack in BAB increase. Paladins are pretty awesome on their own really and you can pretty easily make up the loss of AC by wearing some heavier armor.

Taisper Stozs |

Texas, Central Standard Time, but I stay up until 0330 most mornings because I work evening shift.
CST here as well, but I'm up in Wisconsin. I have two jobs with solid internet access and variable busy-ness, so I'm usually able to post pretty consistently 0900-1600 and then 1900-whenever I fall over.

DM Barcas |

Also I'm curious as to why you spent a feat on the Aldori Dueling Sword Proficiency if you aren't planning to use Weapon Finesse with it at all. The description for the weapon states that you can still use it even if unproficient and it just counts as a Longsword.
Yep, it's fundamentally nothing more than a longsword for your character. All the Exotic Weapon Proficiency does it allow you to use Weapon Finesse with it rather than strength. I suppose it lets you take the Weapon Focus chain as well.
But this can all be solved with fluff. Feel free to call a regular longsword an Aldori dueling sword so you don't have to waste the feat.

Berrin Myrdal |

Iceland here, GMT. I'm up around 6a.m and try to check in at that time. I get off work around 3p.m. and usually head straight to my pc and stay there on and off untill bed time.
I think you can also vield a shield with the dueling sword if your proficient with it, similarly to a bastard sword. Don't have my books in front of me, so I could be wrong.

![]() |

Welcome aboard Jemini!
I'm GMT to, England, though as a rule I keep quite unusual hours. For the record I'd prefer a straight paladin to, though I'm very wary of telling others what to play.
Tandlara you are quite right, originally was going to use a chainshirt I'll alter, I think I need to feed the acp into skills to.
As for the brothers idea, hmmm. They certainly are very similar, but the backgrounds don't really mesh and I tend to think of Verik's family being lawyers as rather an important part of his personality - it's why he has the suspicious trait, lol. It also informs his love for bureaucracy paperwork and lists. And his father having been a foreman and injured so he could not work is an important part of Taisper's background.
It would certainly make sense for them to know each other though. Perhaps Taisper could have helped with Verik's martial training. Might be fun to have Taisper critique everytime I roll low in melee.
"Gah Verik, you are closing your eyes when you swing again, how long did we work on that!"

Jemini of Lebeda |

I'm at -2GMT (South African time)
The exotic proficiency would have been to follow the Aldori swordlord fighter archetype (from the Inner Sea Primer) to go along the fighter-related weapon feat chain (focus, specialization, etc). I guess a bit of lenience on the rules would allow the same using the dueling sword but in its capacity as a longsword.
If it's sufficiently acceptable, I'd like to keep with the option of 1 oracle level - and instead give up all the fighter levels. The stats will change a bit to compensate. Personally I don't mind a bit of inefficiency in melee, as in my experience at later levels (near)full-BAB ensures that hits do hit regardless. And at least once a day Jemini will be able to fight (smite), which keeps her relevant for many boss-fights.
I prefer this choice as I really like the idea of a paladin that is armored by fate. All this full-plate non-sense is for those who waver in their convictions ;)
I'll modify the feat build appropriately and adjust her a bit for the overall changes. Will let you know when she's ready :)

DM Barcas |

Sounds fine to me. I'll work you in a divine revelation. Wouldn't you be able to smite more than once a day if the majority of her levels are paladin?
This looks to be an important addition, giving the alternate names of the months and days, as well as important holidays. If you guys want to make it simpler, we can just use the regular month/day names.
You'll be setting out on Pharast (March) 22, 4708.

Jemini of Lebeda |

Updated Jemini :)
- the Aldori dueling sword has been replaced with a long sword
- lowered Int and increased Con
- favored class (paladin) - which is used to increase skill points by 1 so no changes in ranks used
- princess (trait) instead of sword scion (trait) - intimidate is now a class skill
- updated skills to reflect this
- starting feats: weapon focus and dazzling display
- adjusted equipment with extra money: sold parchments (1gp) and bought antitoxin (50gp), holy water (25gp) 1lb, everburning torch (110gp) 1lb

Y'all will be meeting up at a trading post on the border to start the campaign. How you got the commission is up to you. You'll arrive separately but should be scheduled to arrive on the specified day.
Having finished the introductory post, I'm ready to go once everyone confirms that their characters are complete.

Tandlara |

Warrior of the Holy Light is a cool archetype! I hadn't seen it yet as I almost never play paladins.
And really dig her using parade armor! Is she sticking with that? The Cha bonus to AC should more than compensate.
She won't be poor in melee, 16 is required to good at something. But she's only one down, and has full BAB. With power attack and a belt of giant strength, or someone casting bull's strength she'll be fine! Well able to compete, and she has so much out of combat stuff that it'd be unfair if the two fighters didn't get to shine in fights! :p
So with everyone together, and mine the only horse. When do we start the walk to the Stolen Lands?

Jemini will definitely have a parade armor made for our fledgling new nation - the current one applies to Lebeda after all. In 2015 when we are around level 12 she will probably look into some alternatives such as celestial armor.

Some idle thought: would there be interest in having a campaign site, a la the Google site Pathfinder campaign template? Have a look
Actual playing would still take place on Paizo forums ofcourse - its just so convenient. And has a nice dice roller.

I'd be cool with us using a site like that or Obsidian Portal. I know I don't have the time to put it together and maintain it though.
A couple of questions and considerations before we get going.
How do we want to do loot? I propose an equality based system that would work like this:
- Add up the selling value of all items found excluding things that benefit the whole party like healing potions, etc.
- Add in all coin found.
- Divide this total by six and give that amount of gold to each party member.
- If any party members want to claim any items, take the selling price of the item out of their total gold received.
- If the selling price of the item is more than their total gold received, either have them pay the difference out of pocket or remove the item from this loot equation and include it next time around (the claimant would still get the item)
I've found that this method is the best combination of fairness and fun without being overly complex. In fact, to make everything even less complex I have a handy spreadsheet that I use located here and loaded up with an example. If everyone accepts this proposal and has no objections I'd like to volunteer to keep track of the loot as I'm familiar with the spreadsheet and generally enjoy that kind of thing.
My second question is, do you plan on tracking arrow consumption for mundane arrows? If so, Zander had best stock up.

+1
I'm used to such a system from our real-life campaigns...
Regarding the Pathfinder site template: it really is a template. You instantiate it and you're done. The character sheet I put together a while back and it comes with the template these days.
I find such campaign sites useful as a storage ground for maps/images, NPC references, loot sheets and various sundry bits.

@Verik: Having read your background a couple times, I'm wondering; what's Verik's angle on the faith?
Taisper's particular focus is more on the Law and Community aspects of the Abadarian faith. Being dirt-poor and growing up in the shadows of the firearms factories in Alkenstar, he is still really uncomfortable with money and tries to hide this by being extra generous with his tithing and donations to church-run programs. Like, Law is much easier for him to grasp, and he feels community is what got him where he is. Money is just always too abstract and terrifying.
Also, I'm picturing the cousins as having not seen each other much growing up, but having reunited happily at a church-based event, and finding great common ground in their faith. Thoughts?

That's what we do in games anyway. Sounds good.
AS for other sites, honestly I'd rather have less places to go. Keeping it all on paizo makes it easy for me to log on get active from anywhere I have the internet.

Verik sees law and bureaucracy as being the lifeblood of civilization, which like an follower of Abadar he sees as being of paramount importance. He places no particular emphasis on family, and tends to think the worst of people - probably due his families clients and their willingness to use underhanded tactics to get them off - and thinks that laws are important to keep people in check. He is the kind of person who would follow a silly rule because it is a rule, and is excessively pedantic.
Having come together again through the church works well for me, what do you think about having been involved in Verik's weapon training?
Treasure wise, that's fantastic, for once I did not have to propose it myself! :)

Oh man this is gonna be fun! Love it.

Yeah, that works well, esp. considering we both use the morningstar-and-a-shield combo. Verik is stronger, but Taisper's a little quicker, so that could be a factor in why Taisper might have helped in training.
Another possible interaction point; Taisper was a big fish in a little pond back in Alkenstar. Since it's in the middle of a magical dead zone (arcane only), he was regarded as almost a divine casting prodigy (WIS16, Magical Talent trait, Iron Will feat) and afforded appropriate respect in his branch of the church. However, since Verik is a more talented caster (WIS 18) that could allow for some fun banter and one-upsmanship. :-D

Verik's not really a one upper, I'll probably play him as fairly self deprecating, but assertive in sort of prim way - like the fellow behind the counter at the DMV who knows you are annoyed, but also knows rules are rules - does that make sense? Should still be room for plenty of banter I think. :)
I figure Verik was not proficient with simple weapons and was a little on the chubby side and the few months of training taught him to use simple weapons and burnt off his puppy fat.
