So is our plan only to track down where the camp is right now or are we looking to clear it out? I had kind of assumed the latter, but considering that this party isn't really very stealthy to begin with I doubt it would make much of a different really if we attacked in force today or in a few days and it really would be best to have everyone together to do that. Zander is just eager to get these banditos taken care of.

I'd say we just head on out. If we get there and it's a massive fort with a bajillion people, we turn right the heck around. If it's a camp with some tents then we let Verik and I rock the buffs and use surprise to take 'em out.
It sounds like Jemini is pretty set on not going with.

EGGS-ellent.

I'm on my 5th draft right now, still working furiously on the nitty-gritty details. I cut over 100 words by folding one ability into another, which I think makes it cleaner. The flavor has evolved nicely as I continued, almost organically out of the design. I'm not quite ready to show it yet, though. Not quite.
LK, as for your submission, I thought that it was a little short and plain. I liked the general idea of "angry ghosts interposing themselves" though. Perhaps it could have used a way to activate it X/day: gain the AC bonus and force attackers to make a Will save or become shaken, lasts X rounds.

Thanks for the mention :) - I've read many prior submissions and decided that many of them were just too wordy without substance. I like items having a core concept and functionality without many frills and extra details. Unfortunately I didn't manage to convey this enthusiasm to the judges.
Pity - I've got an epic archetype prepared :)

Spotting the horses he smiles and picking a handful of grass approaches them holding out his offering. "Who is a great smelly beast only thinly veiling its desire to throw me off into nettle and wee on me? Whose a great smelly beast?" He asks in the odd cooing voice he adopts with young children and animals.
bahahahahahahaha

So you want Owen Wilson for Taisper? I'm seriously tempted to add everyone to the pic - the background of which is the kingmaker pic.
Hahaha, yeah! That'd be great. As much as I like "Luke Wilson with a dye job," Owen Wilson is really more appropriate, I think.
Verik Jarrow |
Lucy Lawless in one of her more recent roles? Still cannot believe Xena and whats her face from Spartacus Blood and Sand are the same person.
Here's the pic with Taisper added. I'll redo the morningstar when I add someone else as it looks a bit rubbish.

To my discredit I have to admit that I had to google those to have a good idea who they are. Most of my viewing time is spend on manga or anime. If she's familiar; the kind of character portrait that I have in mind is Faye Valentine, from Cowboy Bebop
Jemini of Lebeda |
How about Liv Tyler?
That is a good visual match you have there; good show. The personality would still be reminiscent of Faye though.
Jemini of Lebeda |
Well, I hope y'all like it. I had a moment of inspiration last night that changed it pretty drastically, but I think it was for the better. I hope everyone else agrees.
I like making villains, so I hope that I make it to the next round.
I'm looking forward to it. As of this year the archetype round is bound to be my favorite: imminently relevant for players; and more meat than a wondrous item.
...though now we have to wait 4ish days

My friend (Jerall) is similarly torn - though he did submit yesterday already.
As for Zander... give him a few levels

I can't believe I didn't hand out your experience! This is for the first day and night (posts #1-216).
Berrin: 457
Jemini: 517
Taisper: 607
Tandlara: 492
Verik: 592
Zander: 587
The combat portion was worth 257 experience: 67 each for the bandit leader, 23 each per bandit, and 100 from putting out the fire.
The RP portion was worth between 200 and 350, which shows the value of and emphasis on roleplaying. You guys are doing a great job and I like to reward it! (Especially keeping the game's momentum going while I'm super busy.)
I'll tally up 217 to present sooner or later. I may keep it as a discrete "session" for when I actually hand it out though.
Zander Orlovsky |
Yeah Zander's current mask doesn't really work very well for character portraits, but I am planning to have him probably switch over to something that just covers the left side of his face in a more Phantom of the Operaish style before too long here. Keep the worst of his scars covered while still being functional and probably cooler looking. To be honest I hadn't realized how non-functional the full face mask was, but I suppose neither would Zander have realized this having spent most of his time alone with his blind mentor.
Also I said it before but I'll say it again, Berrin rules. The way he dropped the bomb on Zander right there made me crack up in the middle of my cubicle here.

Hahahahaaaa! OMG so full of win.
Berrin Myrdal |
OOC survival discussion; We need to move at half speed to follow the traks or take a -5 penalty. We need to move at half speed to forage. If Zander forages and I track we should maintain the same speed we are at without expendig rations. (I'm assuming we're moving at half-speed).
Foraging is dc 10. every +2 on the roll means another person fed = ration saved.
Or we could hurry after the tracks, taking the +5 on the DC and have Berrin and Zander co-track them.
Berrin Myrdal |
With 1 aid Berrin can track a DC 15 trail by taking 10. That allows us to move at half speed by taking 10 and asumed that they never tried to hide their traks. But the DC goes up by +1 for every 24 hrs (asuming the weather holds) and their at least 2 days old (meaning DC 16) meaning that either Berrin or Zander would need 2 aids to manage it. So 4 people aiding gives +8 for a roll of 21 max on taking 10.
On a side note. You'r wisdom score, Verik, means youre better at this than either Berrin or Zander. You have a base +4 but we have a base of +3.
Jemini of Lebeda |
Keep in mind that the DC goes up by +2 every day, since the tracks themselves weren't all made at the same time, but descend further back in time as well as we travel along. By that I estimate that currently we need to hit a DC 19 to keep it up today - tomorrow we need to make 21.
This does not account for us traveling at half-speed for tracking purposes, in which case the DC goes up by +3 per day; meaning we're already in DC21 territory, and will hit DC24 tomorrow. :)
Zander Orlovsky |
Well my survival is +6 remember. I don't think we need to start foraging until we get low on rations, better to track at full speed with everyone working on it. With Zander taking a 10 as the main tracker and Berrin and Verik assisting, we'd be at a 20. Technically there's no reason everyone couldn't assist though, which unless we have any negative wisdom modifiers in the group would put us at 26.
