What is SQ?

Rules Questions

I'm seeing a bunch of NPCs with SQ stuff, but not sure what it is. I suspect its from one of the books that I haven't read yet, can anyone give a brief answer of what it is, and if it requires some reading, let me know which book at least its in?

Thanks

SQ, in the stat blocks, stands for "Special Qualities". At least, that's what I am 90% certain it means.

Yar, it is Special Qualities.

Basically a catch-all for "Everything that isn't classified as something else".

In essence, a "Special Quality" is any ability that isn't an attack or part of an attack, or otherwise relevant to other areas of the statblock (like an aura or a defensive ability like damage reduction or energy resistance would be).

Abilities marked in the SQ spot are often abilities that always add some sort of bonus (like the fighter's weapon training or the bard's bardic knowledge), and abilities that aren't necessarily combat abilities (like a druid's wild shape and woodland stride).

Yes :)

Anyway, since you successfully ninja'd me, I tried to add something useful via edit ;)

Thanks all, as I was reading it, that's pretty much what I was thinking, but wanted to be sure there wasn't some crazy rule somewhere that I just didn't know about.
