Folks, this board is full of negative comments AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE PLAYTEST YET!
I'm sure the folks at Paizo have been working their tails off to make something great, and will be working even harder in the next year to make the best possible product they can. And then they come on this board and get crapped on by people WHO ARE SPECULATING ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE IT ALL IS.
Withhold judgement until you've at least seen the thing! And keep it constructive!
Play on.

I was in the campaign of "no new edition" as my post history will show. Now that this has been announced, I took a look at things and reexamined the benefits of a new edition. Honestly, I've come around pretty quickly.
At the end of the day, you will all be happier if you try to find the positive things in life. Maybe you want like the new edition, but you should give it a shot. It's a lot more fun than shooting it down without question.
Always look on the bright side of life.

With a name like The Great Troll King, I'm not sure about how serious this is.
But really, you're not going to get rid of negativity. Partly it's feedback, letting Paizo know that something does not sound promising and we'd like to see it changed. This probably isn't going to have much effect before the test starts. Preferably people will try to phrase this as constructive criticism. Flame wars don't help.
And the other part is that people are invested in the game. They want a Pathfinder that they'll love and play. And Loss Aversion plays a role here. One bad change will impact people more than a similarly significant positive one. It's human nature. So there's going to be a focus on things that people don't like more than things that they do.
I came into this as being very suspicious. As things have gone on, I'm feeling much better about the playtest. Especially as designers are now coming forward more and letting us know about their openness to criticism and changing how things work. I still have parts I don't like (resonance), and things I'm wary of (stretched out classes, ancestries apparently requiring more levels to get the formerly standard abilities, potions no longer being spells in a bottle). But there are also things I really like (action economy, crit system, floating stat bonuses on ancestries).

I find that quite impressive, personally.
I’m not in the habit of bagging a game before I’ve seen it. I find it hard to be open minded about it though. Learning a new system just seems like such a lot of work.

Yeah I went pretty extreme their. At least that would be positive for some species. maybe apes could take over. we would be some sort of planet of apes... nah terrible idea.

The Great Troll King moniker came about long before there was them newfangled internets. It wasn't bequethed upon me due to trolling message boards. The Tale of The Great Troll King is long and inappropriate and requires the quaffing of many a fine lager in its telling. Or not so fine lagers so long as someone else is buying.

The fact there a user name either premade or made just for the joke pleases me to no end.
So k. Besides the topics are bleeding together to form some odd jumble so better I should take a break.

They could have 5 posts a day per user with a 500 character limit. Then people might have to think if they really wanted to waste them all on a back-and-forth argument.
I guess then all the angriest people would make multiple accounts so they can complain more.
I don't know if there's a solution really.

Honestly I'm just happy that the devs seem to know what they're up to and are being so open about what is coming in the new edition.
This is a pretty good change from Starfinder's reveal which, while it wasn't really as necessary to detail every change since it's just another 3.X game, is really a show of good faith from Paizo with this new edition. They seem confident in what they're doing, I like everything they've done thus far, and I would hope they stick to their guns on this and take it even further despite some of the negative reactions.

I agree with Troll King to a degree; it really is pointless at this stage to expend a bunch of both energy and good will in the community to rail against any announced changes, because such railing at this stage absolutely will not affect the rules' outcome one bit. After August 2nd, making well-reasoned pleas are the most likely way to effect change, once the rules are available for all to see.
Beyond that, however, a little bit of wailin' and flailin' is psychologically healthy, as long as someone doesn't take it too far (as someone usually does, accusing designers of incompetence, declaring that other forum posters can't possibly be real RPG players if they like these crappy rules, decrying how they'll never play Pathfinder again and that Paizo has sunk the game, etc.) None of that is actually useful, and in truth destroys a person's credibility in the community the more they do it, even if Paizo staff didn't ban them for breaking any forum rules.
So far, I'm not feeling the mutagen change, and the "bulk encumbrance" rules, but I'm certainly giving them the full test-over in a group game after playtest release. I could find that all my concerns are baseless and the new rules are smoother and makes everyone at the table happier! I hope so, but Paizo for sure won't take someone's words as seriously unless they're backed by actual experience at the table, good or ill.

Thank you son, though this was actually my second time on these newfangled forums. My first was here.

If you think the boards are too negative at this point of time, just wait til August 2nd. Then you'll experience what real negativity is.
And if you want a glimpse of what to expect, just go visit the beta playtest forums from the original PF1 playtest. I don't expect it to go really better this time.

After reading about 10,000 posts in this forum, I hate everyone and everything. Okay, maybe I still like Hmmm. But everyone and everything else: hate!
:)
I was all excited to see that I at least was still loved, and then realized that Jhaeman was talking about a Hmm with three ‘M’s.
Alas! I am a sad, sad gnome.
Hmm

♫ The grar grows wild on the forum tonight
Not a Paizo mod to be seen*
A forum of aggravation
And Sara Marie’s our queen
The crowd is howling with ev’ry preview Paizo’s tried
Couldn't keep it in, it’s a crazy ride
Don't read them now, don't let them see
Another post of negativity
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well, now they know
Let it go, let it go
Don’t post there anymore
Let it go, let it go
Stop trying to keep a score
I don't care what they're going to say
Let the grar rage on
The posts never bothered me anyway
Let it go, let it go
Don’t post there anymore
Let it go, let it go
Stop trying to keep a score
Let it go (go, go, go go, go go, go go, go, go, go go)
Let it go
Let it go
Let it go
It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small
Edition changes that once enthralled me can’t get to me at all
It's time to see what 2e can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I'm free
Let it go, let it go
I can let those posts go by
Let it go, let it go
You’ll never see a reply
Here gobs stand and here gobs stay
Let the grar rage on
The Playtest’s action economy seems rather sound
But in all these blogs so little content can be found
And one thought comes with all the songs I’ve sassed
I'm never going back, the past is in the past
Let it go
These posts never bothered me anyway
Let it go, let it go
The flame war rages on and on
Let it go, let it go
That perfect gob is gone
Here gobs sing and here they play
Let the grar rage on ♫
