GenCon of 2018. Our group went to play at his table for the Starfinder special. He was having a bit of a rough time with the overwhelming amount of feedback from multiple directions all at once. I stuck with Jack afterwards to make sure he was doing alright.

Afterwards, he became a mentor to me. Helping me improve my GMing, learning responsibility better, and was always fun to discuss character ideas with. It was over google hangouts we were discussing over the course of this last year what our plans for GenCon were, and the conversation took a turn when he said that he couldn't go. I told him I'd wait til next year to go with him, and would help him carry things at Cons if needed.

Jack was encouraging and helpful. He oversaw my 5 Star evaluation table, and invited me to oversee another player's 5 Star evaluation as well. My first time eating at Fogo De Chao was GenCon 2022 as kind of a celebration to the new 5 star GM. At that table he used a bunch of saved boons from over the years to create a level 5 Sorcerer Bloatmage who could cast 8d6 fireballs several times to really overpower any fight we came across. I had my Oozemorph Shifter. It was an incredibly amusing run.

We've had our fair share of scenarios together with all kinds of odd ball characters. Some were a slug fest, some were a mess, and some were chaotic, but it was always fun. It felt good to keep getting brought along and invited back.

During Solstice Scar D he was the player to land the killing blow on the final boss at the tier 10-11 I ran for the convention at that time. We were finishing up March of the Dead a few weeks ago on Play By Post with a character I discussed making during the car ride back from Gen Con.

Its hard to accept that my bud is gone. In some ways, it feels like its just a bad dream and that I'll have a conversation with him again, just how unready I am to accept this news. Logically, I have come to terms with it, but emotionally there is having to accept it and learn to heal.

He was a mentor, and a friend. He will be sorely missed.
We poured out a Badger Hill Traitor IPA for you, my friend. Please, keep a seat warm for me.

Ah crap. Goodbye, Heroism!

I'd like to utilize my Herb Lore ability to remove everyone's Sickened Condition.

Herb Lore:
As a standard action, the herb witch can administer a remedy to herself or a creature within reach. This consumes the remedy, and the herb witch attempts a Profession (herbalist) check against the save DC of any one disease or poison currently afflicting the consumer. If the check is successful, the effect immediately ends. If the disease or poison doesn’t allow saving throws, the remedy is ineffective.

An herb witch can also use a remedy to attempt to end the blinded, deafened, fatigued, nauseated, or sickened conditions. This requires a Profession (herbalist) check with a DC equal to the spell or effect that caused the condition, or a DC 25 check if the condition was caused by an effect that doesn’t allow for a saving throw. If successful, the condition ends. Only a single condition, disease, or poison can be removed with each application of a remedy.

Since this was a no-save sickness, the DC is 25 for my Herb Lore to negate it. With the trait Patient Calm I can take 12 for a result of 28 for my Profession Herbalist to successfully negate everyone's sickness without rolling.

An elf who looks like he has never known the definition of dry sits nearby, absolutely drenched and soaked. He looks up quietly at the group, and quietly shakes his head in acknowledgment, though he has little to offer but silence. Tattooed on his chest is the number 13 and it reflects like metal. Strapped onto his back is a trident of excellent quality.

Behind him a water elemental shaped like an octopus steps forward on its eight legs. It starts gurgling in aquatic, and afterwards the elf begins to move his lips. The trident glows in response, and a sing-song voice echoes from it.
'Hello friends, the elf is Tofu and I am Ikarus of the Deep Sea. I am the brains of this duo, and he is my pet. Don't mind the set up; it is complicated. At least his weapon will let us be able talk.'

Sounds like torching and going up the stairs is the party's choices. I am not sure if doing it in that order is advisable though.

The doors open to reveal a bedchamber with a large bed opposite the door, flanked by a desk and a dresser. The heady scent of lilac hangs heavy in the air, emanating from a cone of incense that is still smoking faintly.

Scouring through this room reveals a few interesting details. Firstly a bunch of letters from Hallod confirming the delivery of various shipments of alchemical reagents. Another piece of parchment contains a timeline of dates and notable occurrences. Near the bottom, it shows the date that Bort's caravan arrived in town.

When created, this mutagen is attuned to your choice of one of four energy types: acid, cold, electricity, or fire. When consumed, the mutagen suffuses your body with energy that spills out of you whenever you attack. At higher levels, it can even grant you the ability to unleash the energy in controlled bursts.

Benefit You gain resistance to the attuned energy type. Whenever you score a hit with a melee weapon, add the listed amount of damage of the attuned energy type.

Drawback You gain weakness 5 to the other three energy types.
Type moderate; Level 3; Price 12 gp

You gain resistance 10, add 1d4 damage on a hit with a melee weapon, and the duration is 10 minutes.

"Most interesting. We do not have many places like this back on Axium. I have read about the styles of trade that happen in places such as this, and am a certified expert on such knowledge. I graduated from the Axium University of Studying Mortals, after all!"

Apologies. Yesterday I was not feeling well and couldn't get the willpower to go on PBP. I'm doing better today.

Totally get and understand that on both ends. Straight combat on the plot-line express can definitely get tiresome, and parties as lit as a guy playing an accordion for two cats can get old quick too.

My answer is wait until the scenario lets the GM throw a wrench into it, and watch the railroad fall of the track when the party isn't prepared for it.

If you ever need a wrench player I would advise looking up a fox sorceress. She now has the spell Mad Monkeys :)

"A little musical inspiration has taught me much." He strums the bass guitar, and starts playing a riff. With a smooth voice, he starts relaying what his divination through music tells him. Clearly he is in a trance right now.

Duhm Kaoh, on fire and looking very badly beaten up, swings his axe into the white demon, while using the power of Zon-Kuthon to deflect some flames back. "How bout I split your skull and wear it as a trophy, you son of a b****?"

White needs to make a DC17 Will save or suffer 7 damage, and Duhm Kaoh resist 7 damage.

This feels like one of those cases of a min-maxer asking why you didn't min-max your character. Personally, I find the Chalice of +1 Taco Flavored Tortilla Chips to be an overpowered gimmick that works only in situations where enough sour cream is available to active its effect.

If you want, I can look more indepth at Kasumi and tell you things you can consider. I have a wide variety of spellcasters.
11 Warlock, 10 Psychic, 5 Wizard/1 Fighter going into Eldritch Knight, 11 Druid, 13 Oracle, 4 Cleric/1 Oracle/1 Holy Vindicator, etc..

I wouldn't force you to make any character making decision, just get you the few things that if you go into a group and you happen to have it, you will be covered very well.

Ulitmately, we still love you regardless Vixie. <3

The haunt seems to calm and the noises seem to cease. Eventually the area feels peaceful. With no more quests remaining, the Pathfinders are able to return the dead bodies to Cassomir and end their long time in this region.

The mayor congratulates you all with a feast and an award ceremony. Many citizens stand to the left and to the right as you all walk down the aisle inbetween them. Triumphant music plays, with the Mayor, Igneous and Branda at the stage before you. Along a wide carpet you walk up to the steps. Kasumi turns her head to Urzaia and lets out a roar.

The mayor comes forth with his own parchment. "As the acknowledgement of such heroes who brought peace to a troubled land and ended the threat of an apocalypse, it is with great honor I present you with the deed to Tristeza Manor."
Boon Acquired!

You all turn to face the crowd of onlookers, and they applaud for you. Kasumi lets out another triumphant roar.

The no triumphant music version.
