I've been running a D&D Group for decades but recently switched to Pathfinder and like it far more. We are looking for a new player around our age 40+. We're a serious old school club that likes a lot of combat mixed in with our role playing. We don't care how much experience you have. We will teach you.

We play every Friday night 7-11pm EST. We use discord for video chat and Owlbear Rodeo for maps and handouts. This is not a one shot thing. We have been playing since middle school and are a serious life long group. We play level 1-20 in every campaign which tend to last 18-24 months. We recruit new players with the mind set that they are forever, if they like what we offer and click with the group.

Private message me if interested. Thanks.

You have not set up any kind of profile page which thus denies us being able to private message you. I am interested but can't chat the specs of the stuff with you via private message. Sorry its been so long. Just alitte mor epatience please. I need to review the game thread to remember where exactly we are and where we were headed. I have been severly ill with upper GI issues and then the stomach upset. I have dropped 10 lbs over last 2 weeks unintentionally. I am scheduled to have a scope done so we can get a better idea of what is going on. I am not trying to blow the game off.

Ohime realizes that the scent of decay is coming from the mustrooms mainly. As she and Brek examine the rings, they come to the conclusion that using the elemental rune and the life rune will create some sort of protective barrier. They also realize that the other two runes will summon something when placed in the proper ring with others of their kind. Danger and living appear to be identical except for one line above the main rune. This line only appears on the danger rune.

Brek realizes that from diagrams he has seen, that placing any of these combinations will summon a specific something although that something is still unknown.--element/life--life/danger. The runes undeath/danger appear to bind something once summoned.

The trigger to working the runes seems to be contact and positioning. By positioning them in groups of 4 circular in formation the magic is activated. Thus separating the stones or moving them out of direct contact with each other would most likely end the magical effect.

You also notice as you examine the placement of the stones that they are in groups of 4 for each ring but larger rings are made by grouping smaller rings around a central circle of 4. This sequence presents itself as the way to activate the protective aspects of the magic when working with the 4 in the center. The one complication that can be seen is that the manipulator of the center 4 would be "outside" the bounds of protection while moving those central 4.

As you finish your study you notice that the day has begun to creep upon you and that the shadows of the trees create a circle over several of the runic circles. You have a strong aversion to approaching the runes while the trees seem to guard them.

Pulling back to compare and discuss, your team sets up camp for the day. You find an area that is in deep brush some hundred or so yards away from the nearest runes and set up there.
I set watch order for Krokkin, sorogar, brek, and ohime to speed up the play.

I rolled to make some alchemical items. I technique have another 5 or so days I could spend crafting. I would like some help covering the costs with it being for party.
Total costs
Aquemir 150 gp (we have 3)
antitoxins 3 /antiplague 2/essence of independence (3) combined total cost 163gp

if we divide the costs by 6 then 300ish gp /6 = 50 gp each. this refunds my costs. I would like this alot.

I would suggest
Independence goes to shadowdragon, becky, and mauro
antiplague can be carried by anyone (I already have a personal one)
ANtitoxins for crispin and becky
aquemir to shadow and the others to someone else.

Reasoning:

independence keeps our fighter and healers in play instead of mind controlled. ALlows them to handle us if we get out of line

antitoxins - those with low fort saves.
Aquemir keeps healer up.
example he drinks a potion then anywhere with in the duration of the aquemir time he can chose to have it effect him.
So... combat happens...cleric drinks a potion of CLW. then if needed anytime during the next 2 minutes he can gain the healing as a free action and then heal as his standard. Just gives a little comfort zone for the cleric to take some damage still and survive it longer.

Just my thoughts.

Antaral has healer's hands and 4 ranks in heal and in planes and skill focus heal. The combination gives me a +15 heal. makes mundane healing fairly easy so to speak. It just takes time. (and for me to remember)

As for what you want to play.....My only vote would be for something you have fun with. The party is fairly balanced now I feel so whatever role you feel will be the most fun, play.

Antaral is mainly ranged but I intend to use alchemical boosts to things like plague and poison just have to have the money and downtime to make them.

With that said some of the money for party boosts/assists should come from party pool. Like the cure light wounds is party and shouldn't be counted against Becky's wealth.

This time a sweet earthy sounding voice sounds forth from the visage/haunt
My name was Fergri. My dragon Dritensol was here and I am pleased that some of you have paid her due respect. It is for this respect that I allowed a weighing to take place. Matrisse was errant in her zeal to have allies. Kuraderi is the great mother and her way is to guide and lead not force or cajole. I am truly sorry for the visions. They were necessary to test and tell. You have not been judged merely found worthy of future judgement.

The ogres are now ruled by one Hrothgarel a rakshashas of immense control and power. Her natural form is with the head of a cobra. She has studied the arcane for centuries and now is striving to bring to fulfillment her designs to enslave this continent. She has the ogre clans at her beck and call and with them she is moving forward to crush any other sentient being that will not pay her homage.

Kuraderi set me the task of helping take Hrothgarel down but her emissaries or I should call them assassins were able to negate the restorative powers of my dragon with poison. I too was caught unawares and cursed. I could not cure her and dared not leave her to be slaughtered while she was weak. So, I bound up the entrance and sought the solitude that my dying body would allow. I have awaited someone who could withstand the weighing. Few have entered and none have left sane since I died. I am bound to this place but wish to move on.

You bardling, asked why Matrissse would “curse” you. She didn’t do it as a curse but as a desperate attempt to enlist help. She is still a wyrmling and has not experienced much of the world outside. Forgive her I beseech you. It was this cursing that allowed you into my presence. So, I guess it is an aftereffect of the curse in a manner of speaking. The pelt you wisely refrained from touching is a thing of another evil. IT is best left here where it cannot be gotten into the hands of Hrothgarel. With it she could call forth the Winter wolves of the northern reaches to fight by her side. With it she hold the power to become their queen! Treva knew this and thought to stop its power. Her mutagens had been trifled with and she was unable to access her discoveries in her time of need. The vision you saw was a representation of the betrayal and the need.

The voice pauses as if in thought or hesitation then continues This treasure is cursed save it be by my blessing. I take the geas from you the rings that you were given by the lizardfolk grow warm then brittle finally crumbling from your bodies to the floor beneath. You may take what you can carry unaided as a penance for Matrisse’s impertinent rush and this is freely given with my blessing. If you would take more, we may talk of bargains for the curse requires a cost be paid.

may not have chance to post til monday but will try

posh and bey's actions on their turn:

Posh will continue to bit the creature if it remains in his reach.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Bey will cast acid splash with his wispy viper thingy at the creature as long as it remains threatening a party member.
attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 - 4 = 19
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2--ranged touch attack

If creature is eliminated as a threat, Bey will remount Posh and follow party. This will be standard procedure until I can get back to posting hopefully atleast by monday.

At the government house Bey enters quite enjoying the rough but delicate craftsmanship that has already been shown here. He then begins to look through the papers on the tables/desks with a little more care.

Seeing some documents of interest, he begins to scan them for a better understanding of what they are.

Some are rather dry giving amounts of food that has been preserved or is still available. Others talk about minor rule breaking offenses and the judgement on them. There are a variety of others as well. The diminutive halfling continues to sort the documents while standing on a chair and waiting for the rest of the party.

any one object to me taking an alkali flask then from the weapon allotment.? If not then here's the "finding"

Bey searches through several of the bundles at the bottom of the "beds." As he progresses around the room, he finds a cloak that seems to be heavier that the ones in the other piles. Upon closer examination, he finds a small pocket sewn shut on the inside edge. Pulling out his dagger, he cuts the pocket open. A flask of a liquid grey substance falls into his palm.

This looks like an acid flask that the alchemists made back in Taldor. My father had several uses for these. I'll hold it for now and we can check it out in detail when we make camp for the night.
Bey says into the air.

Bey still thinks its just a flask of acid not an alkali flask until someone with alchemy skill can check it out.

Brodigan, it is Abeowin. Bey corrects the wizard politely.

He's adept with his magic but still not sure I trust him. He had to much time thus most likely something in common with Harcourt. I still won't judge him yet. He does have a halfling assistant whom he tends to treat ok.

A spirit seek is an inner search or sometimes a physical journey to make a connection with something “bigger” than you. It forms a bond and a curse between 2 or more creatures. Elemental, celestial, abyssal, and other beings are common connections. The great dragon mother has bonded with a few as well. Rissstui has bonded one but he shares little of that bonding. He always knows where the next starfall will be and which of the stones are starmetal laden. He tells me he has a curse from it as well but won’t speak further.
I believe Mother has bonded a being though she keeps such things private. I only suspect though as she is seen as one of the tribe in most things. I know she draws her oracular powers from waters surrounding the three fold home.

Usually one approaches the elders of the tribe and is assisted into a trance where they either make contact with their spirit or are given direction as to where they must go to complete their spirit seek. Each recipient is also marked in some visible way to represent the bond that is created.
For our smith his hands are permanently the color of the starmetal. He made a connection with a greater magmin from the elemental plane of fire. Other’s markings are more subtle but remain a visible reminder of their seek and the struggle and bond therein.
Each seek is done differently and most are done individually instead of as a group. However, in times of great needs groups bonded to each other already have undertaken a spirit seek as a single entity. These usually result in an intelligent and immortal being being connected to.

Each council member is required to complete a seek and show forth benefit to the clans before they can become one of the council. That is why we hold as much clout as we do. The largest group of tribesman that commonly and customarily meet together that are all guided by spirits is the council. The smith’s and the healer’s are two of the other larger guided groups. Getting a group of those that have completed their seeks is difficult in the least. One thing that is certain is that the result of the seek is always a blessing to the collective tribe in some way. What you share and if you share are your decision. Other’s that have completed their search always know those that have completed one as well. It is a “brotherhood” or “sisterhood” of a sorts. He explains taking his time as you walk.
Have you considered what Mother asked you last night? I know she will be wanting an answer before you go.

interrogation:

• The mountains are about 2 weeks journey north west.
• There are 6 tribes of Rakshashas and most have a different head to separate tribes..ie: all shark head, jackal head etc.
• The tribes are beginning to gather ore and especially mithril to make weapons and armor.
• Many of the indigenous orcs have been forced into slavery.
• A small number of giants have allied themselves with the Rakshashas
• Rumored that several of the giants know that the rakshashas aren’t really ogres.
• Roughly 35 Genchtilians have been trained as mounts among the ogres.
• The “ogres’ are starting to breed the Genchtilians.

The camp gathers at dusk all realizing that this is something out of the ordinary when the commander requires all but those on guard duty to gather. Word has spread like wildfire about the capture of several of the camp followers whom are being held, rumor has it atleast, in cages in a tent.
Once the crowd has assembled each of the cages are brought forth.

By order if the commander, you have been sentenced to death for insubordination, espionage, and attempt to commit murder. Some of you were also implicit on the attack on the command structure of the camp and the attempt to free your fellow rakshasa. Execution will be carried out via beheading. the peal of the commanding officer reading the charges brings silence and then an almost audible intake of breath from the crowds.

Each of the creatures is brought forward and one by one they have their heads cut off. The crowd watches some with horror, some with looks of enjoyment, and many with nods of understanding. The carcasses are then dragged to a pile to the side of the encampment where they are set magically on fire to burn under the watchful eyes of a few of the camp wizards.

Lets say then that watches go in this order
brek sorogar ohime and krokkin. Mosely can get up early as the dawn comes up and help with watch while cooking. That is kinda what I am sensing from the party.

A wry chuckle comes from the commander,Well met. I said be at ease and you took it to heart. That says alot for your trust levels. I was the one that first met you when Baithro was here. I disagreed with moving deeper into the jungle and away from civilization as a caravan. He insisted so I had no choice he is the money man. However, not knowing Gril as anything more than a Ogre of rare intelligence and skill, assigned you to him as liaison. He motions, and chairs and drink are provided for all in short with. "Brek, come join. I was told to expect you soon.Welcome." He motions to the fellow lingering nearby. First let me introduce myself --again-- I am Commander Leasin Crowfellon. As you can see, He removes his helmet and rolls back his"mane" of hair,I am off slight elving heritage several generations back. His ears are slightly elongated and his eyes have a slight silver sheen behind them. We have roughly 200 people on camp remaining functional and atleast 50 that will take several months to heal without magic care. We shall work on healing them as we can seeking the blessings of the gods to do so each day. He turns and looks somewhat hostilely at Grindel and Firekenexplain yourselves! Death and destruction you caused worth the freedom and death that occurred both at your command and the command of the Rakshasha's? I would be with in my bounds as protectorate of this camp to have you deposed publicly. And this time, stay out of my head and use your tongues. I know you understand us or you would not have known Sorogar He pauses is it? introduced you. Also when you tried to talk earlier it was in common even though it was in my head. And my companionhe motions to the elf Speaks Sylvan the language of the Fey.Speak now to be understood by all or cease to be. And just so we are on even footing here, this pavilion is enchanted with two things, a silence spell from those outside, and an antimagic field so your magics cannot work with in.Do not try to weasel out using some cheap magic trick!

Looks like a great list. Only thing for me is that kaithros is Kitsune not half orc but that is a minor detail. I dont envy the choice you have.

I sent you a message Herkymr about my character idea. It is definitely a noble-born cavalier.

Very cool, I'm thinking of some kind of pioneer then looking to settle in a brand new land. What kind of place is this new world supposed to be?

I have now updated the campaign short intro with more information. Think amazon for the jungle basics.

What inclination do the other already accepted players wish to play in?

I personally prefer the exploration option over the city option. Love the menagerie / exploring ruins / scouting a place for a new town ideas on the campaign info tab.

... Is this post becoming the official recruitment or is it still an interest check? Wondering if I should start building, or if we are waiting on a final ruling.

I don't know how to turn this into an official recruitment but I'd say lets consider it that and go ahead and build for pathfiner.

BTW I use hero lab for my toons and will check all toons submitted with that program. just a note.

update complete

went with rapier it seemed more appropriate for a speedy barbarian style layer. IT is light enough to not hamper movement or cause the need for a lot of focus on the weapon during movement. It is one handed and has a better crit range than some of the other swords which in turn compensates to a degree for the lower damage.

I switched the feat for dodge as it looks like I will be going sown the mobility feat tree for the character

Glad you made it...seemsing I let all in on secrets all the time...here's one you should know..So the High Inqui has no manners. Maybe that is the "secret" he really doesn't want out yet.

Ibinu shifts almost imperceptibly so that he is facing bian a bit more. If she is tainted I will kill he quickly before we become friends. It will save us both pain.
