I am finding that I have over committed myself on games.
So even though I really wanted a shot at this AP, I need to regretfully withdraw.

Sorry to hear that, but thank you the update. Good luck in your other games!

Okay, I think I'm finally done with Cecilia Volso, Half-Elf Vigilante. I'm using the Half-Elf Double Scion archetype, which means for all intents and purposes she's human in her social identity and an elf in her vigilante identity.

She's a generalist; she won't be quite as good in combat as a dedicated fighter, or quite as good at social situations as a bard, but she'll be able to hold her own in both areas.

Please let me know if anything looks off!

Favored Class - Vigilante:
Level 1: +1SP

Class and Racial Features: Vigilante

Standard Class Features: Dual Identity, Seamless Guise

Vigilante Specialization: Avenger

Chosen Social Talents:
Social Grace - Sense Motive (Level 1): Whenever the vigilante is in his social identity, he receives a +4 circumstance bonus on checks with the selected skill.

Archetype - Half-Elf Double Scion:

Dual Heritage: A half-elf double scion appears to be an elf in one identity and a human in the other identity. He takes no penalties to Disguise checks to appear as the race that matches his current identity. The selection of which race is the social identity and which is the vigilante identity is made at 1st level and cannot be changed. Additionally, when a half-elf double scion switches from one identity to another, he is representing different aspects of his heritage rather than personality. As a result, a half-elf double scion has the same alignment in both of his identities. (Social - Human, Vigilante - Elf)

Racial Traits - Half-Elf:

Standard Racial Traits: +2 to One Ability Score, Low-Light Vision, Elf Blood, Keen Senses

Alternate Racial Trait - Ancestral Arms: Half-elves with this racial trait receive Exotic Weapon Proficiency or Martial Weapon Proficiency with one weapon as a bonus feat at 1st level. This racial trait replaces the adaptability racial trait. (Chosen Weapon: Elven branch spear)

Alternate Racial Trait - Sophisticate: Half-elves who strive to embody the culture in which they live develop a keen instinct for the ebb and flow of fashions, fads, and political trends. They gain a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (local) checks and can use those skills untrained even for checks with a DC of 10 or more. This racial trait replaces elven immunities.

Alternate Racial Trait - Flexible Half-Breed: Once per day, half-elves with this trait can use alter self as a spell-like ability to appear as humans, drow, or elves. The half-elf can change the race of this form each time she uses this ability, but the specific form for each race is static. She gains a +10 bonus to Disguise checks to appear as a member of the chosen race. The caster level for this ability is equal to the character’s Hit Dice. This racial trait replaces multitalented.

General Background:
Cecilia Volso was the result of a short-lived dalliance between Hadariel, an elvish ambassador from Kyonin, and Drusilla Volso, a minor noble in Oppara. A fact which is much to the consternation of her husband, Marus Volso.

Such affairs are not uncommon in Taldor, and ordinarily the child would be sent away to be politely ignored by all. There were two problems with this solution as far as Marus was concerned. One, his pride would not allow it. The likelihood of people finding out about Drusilla’s infidelity was too high. Two, he knew his chances of siring his own heir were slim. They had been trying for years, and he had secretly been informed that he was likely infertile.

So he hit upon a brilliant solution. Keep the child, pretend she was his own, and hide any evidence that might prove otherwise.

Cecilia’s early life was a whirl of fashionable hats and hair carefully pinned in place to cover her ears. Her slightly-too-large pupils and lithe form were seens as signs of future beauty, not of elvish heritage. Such a simple disguise would surely fail under closer scrutiny, but that wouldn’t be a problem until she was betrothed. Marus just had to make sure the match was good enough to be worth the cost of a magical solution.

As Cecilia grew, she began to resent the weight of the secret she carried. She knew she was half-elven; how could she not? But she knew nothing more of her birth father or his people. Any hint of curiosity about elvish society, no matter how innocent, earned Marus’ anger. He wanted no such reminders of his wife’s infidelity.

So Cecilia began to research on her own. Quietly. Secretly. Until she learned of Anariel, an elvish woman who made it a point of pride to teach young half-elves of their heritage. Cecilia couldn’t go, of course. If Marus forbade her from so much as reading about elves, he would never allow her to learn under one. She could easily slip out unnoticed, (as neither parent cared to spend much time with her outside of public appearances), but what if someone else recognized her?.

The solution was simple. Cecilia had a great deal of practice in ensuring no one who saw her actually saw her. It took very little effort to reverse the process. Hair swept back to reveal her ears. Three dots carefully painted over each brow. Clothing that accentuated her long, thin limbs.

Cecilia the human walked into her room. Ethara the elf slipped out through the window.

Under Anariel’s tutelage Cecilia learned about elven culture. Their artistry. The musicality of their language. After one particularly narrow escape from a group of thugs who'd thought to rob her, Anariel began teaching her how to fight as well. All lessons that her father would have strictly forbidden...if he’d known.

Now 19, it is no secret to Cecilia that Marus has begun feeling out possible betrothals for her. The only reason for her existence, (in his mind), is so he can solidify an alliance with one of the other noble houses. He is eager to see the culmination of all those efforts.

Cecilia isn’t entirely sure what she wants, but she knows what she doesn’t want; she doesn’t want to live a life dictated by her father's whims. Why shouldn’t she be able to determine her own destiny?

Appearance and Personality:

Cecilia is the very picture of respectability. Her jewelry is tasteful rather than extravagant, her clothing always in fashion. She favors soft colors, particularly greens and blues. Her long, dark hair is carefully styled to frame her face. In public she’s cheerful, pleasant, and very good at leaving everyone with the impression they’ve just made a new best friend. In private she’s quieter, even shy at times. She’s deeply frustrated with the inequalities built into Taldan politics, but knows better than to say so out loud.

Meanwhile Ethara favors practical clothing in dark colors, particularly red, although said clothing is hard to see under her armor. A long elven branched spear is strapped to her back. She’s quick to act against what she perceives as injustice, sometimes to the point of being reckless. She rarely smiles and keeps herself aloof, although she's made a few friends among Anariel's other students.

Three Scenes:

First Scene:
Spoiler:

Marus paced back and forth, back and forth. He had been assured that Drusilla was fine, that she was doing very well for a first-time mother. Nevertheless he couldn’t help but worry. They’d been trying for years to conceive an heir, and he wasn’t getting any younger. What if something went wrong?

No. No, it would be fine. She’d deliver a handsome young lad to take over their estate. Or perhaps a girl, beautiful and elegant, whose hand he could leverage into more influence with the other noble houses. Didn’t Celedo Morilla have a nephew about the right age? House Volso might not be the most prominent of houses, but a good match could change that.

Another scream from down the hall made him wince. Gods, no one had warned him that childbirth would be such a noisy affair. Tradition dictated that he not be in the room, (a small blessing), but the screams were audible throughout the house. Surely it couldn’t hurt badly enough to be worth such a racket! And honestly, what was taking so long? This had been going on for hours.

More pacing. Back and forth. Back and forth. Until one last scream from his wife was accompanied by the shrill cry of an infant. Finally! Marus waited impatiently for the midwife to emerge and bring him in so he could meet his firstborn son. Or daughter. At this point he didn’t care which. He just wanted it to be over.

Time passed, and still the midwife didn’t come. Had there been a problem after all? But no, he could still intermittently hear the infant shrieking. He (or she) must be healthy enough. Had something happened to Drusilla? Unfortunate if so, but at least she’d delivered his heir before passing.

Nearly an hour after the first infant wail, the midwife finally emerged. Her face was pale. ”My Lord, I…” She paused, clearly struggling for words.

”What is it!? Is it Drusilla? Did she perish?”

”No, but...” The midwife paused again, opening and closing her mouth several times. ”Just...the child might not quite be what you were expecting.”

What the hells did that mean?! ”Is it deformed?”

The midwife winced. ”Not...exactly. But…”

Impatient with her evasiveness, Marus roughly shoved past her and into the room. If she wouldn’t tell him what was wrong, he’d just have to see for himself. He barged in to see his wife holding an infant to her breast. As she should be. What had that midwife so concerned?

Drusilla nearly dropped the babe upon seeing him, and the blankets shifted to allow him to see the infant’s head. And the long, pointed ears attached to it.

Marus froze. He was human. Drusilla was human. But those ears were decidedly not.

”What is the meaning of this?”

Drusilla shrank back against the headboard. ”Marus...I...I don’t know what to say. There must have been some elvish ancestor-”

“Don’t LIE to me woman!” His shaking hand rose to point at the child, or more specifically their ears. ”What. Is. That?”

Drusilla’s face twisted in anguish. ”I...I didn’t…” She broke down into tears. Behind him, the midwife cautiously reentered the room.

”You didn’t what? Have an affair?” Sleep with another man? Do you expect me to believe that?!”

“My lord.” The midwife didn’t approach any closer, which was wise considering his current temper. ”Perhaps this discussion could wait-”

“No. No it most certainly can not.” Marus stomped forward until he was next to the bed, towering over his wife. ”Who was it? Whose child are you holding?!”

Drusilla opened her mouth, then closed it again. Shoulders slumped in despair, she looked down at the child in her arms and whispered, ”Hadariel.”

He knew Hadariel. An elven ambassador from Kyonin. He’d been proud to host the man, seeing it as an opportunity to do a favor for the Basri family and perhaps earn some favour in return.

”I...I didn’t think I could get pregnant. We’d tried for so long, and the clerics said…”

Of course the clerics had said. He’d bribed them handsomely to say their years of infertility was his wife’s fault. Not his, of course. It couldn’t possibly be his.

”And, and, he was kind, and he looked at me like I mattered-”

“Shut. Up.”

Drusilla did.

Marus’ mind was racing. His firstborn child, likely his only child if the clerics were to be believed, wasn’t his at all. He could put Drusilla away for this of course, but the whole reason he’d married her was due to her family’s influence. No doubt they would be displeased by the action, despite conclusive evidence of her infidelity.

Plus there would be the whispers. ’Marus the cuckold’ they’d say. He’d be the laughingstock of the court.

”Boy or girl?”

The midwife spoke up from behind him. ”A girl, my lord.”

That made things easier. ”Hats. Until her hair is long enough to cover those damnable ears.” He turned around so he could glare at the midwife. ”You will tell no one of what you saw this day. Understood?”

”Of course, my lord.”

He switched his glare back to his wife. “You’ve made a fool of me once. You will not do so again.”

Drusilla began weeping anew, whether from stress or gratitude that he wasn't sending the child away he couldn’t tell. Nor did he care to.

Without another word, he turned on his heel and began marching back to his study. He had a lot of research to do. Hats and hairstyles would only go so far; if he intended to marry the girl off he’d have to find a more permanent way to hide her heritage.

No one could ever know the truth.

Second Scene:

Spoiler:

”You’re not trying hard enough. Again.”

Cecilia nearly sobbed in frustration. No matter how hard she tried the arcane arts still wouldn’t come to her. She’d been so happy when she’d managed to cast her first spell; wishing so hard to be fully human that for a single moment her wish came true. It was one of the only times she could remember her father looking at her with pride rather than derision.

Ever since he’d hired tutor after tutor, hoping to expand upon that first success. To make her change herself for more than just a minute. She never could.

A ruler rapped sharply against her knuckles, making her yelp. ”You lost focus. Again.”

Perhaps she really wasn’t trying hard enough. Maybe if she just tried a little bit harder…

Her eyes fixed on her latest tutor. The elderly man she was trying to make bigger. He’d explained the principles, taught her how it worked, done everything he could. It wasn’t his fault she kept failing.

”An aptitude for transmutation magic,” her first tutor had explained after being told what she’d done. (Well, not exactly what she’d done, but that she’d changed her appearance.) ”Or possibly illusion, but transmutation seems more likely. She could be a great sorcerer one day.”

Except years later, she could still only cast one spell. And that one only for a minute a day.

The sharp rap against her knuckles. ”Again.” Again, and again, and again, and again…

By the end of the day her knuckles were red, she had a blistering headache, and the tutor was frowning. She had failed once again.

Her father entered the room. That was rare, he never sought her out without reason. For a second Cecilia sat up straighter in her chair, but he didn't look at her. He was focused entirely on the tutor. ”Any progress?”

Her tutor’s frown deepened. ”None. I don’t believe she has any aptitude for the art.”

”But the spell-”

“Yes, ‘the’ spell. Singular. Which isn’t actually a spell at all, in my opinion. Some people can mimic the effect of a spell without actually casting one. Gnomes are particularly well-known for it.” The tutor shrugged. ”We can continue if you wish, but I don’t anticipate any progress. If she hasn’t learned by now, she’s not going to.”

Marus’ face darkened. First he had been interrupted, and now he was being told information he didn’t want to hear. Cecilia instinctively cowered lower in her chair.

”You say you can’t teach her. Then get out of my house.”

”My pay-”

“I. Said. OUT!”

The tutor left. (Drusilla would later ensure he got paid; she was used to covering for her husband’s impulsive decisions.)

Marus’ furious gaze turned to Cecilia. ”I tried, I really did, but-”

“Clearly not hard enough.” He stepped closer, towering over her. ”I feed you, I clothe you, I give you every opportunity and this is how you repay me?”

Cecilia’s gaze dropped to the floor, knowing there was only one thing Marus wanted to hear. ”I’m sorry.”

“For what?”

“I’m sorry for being a failure.”

Marus kept glaring at her for a moment, then snorted in disgust and left. Cecilia waited until the footsteps had gone, then snuck her way through the halls until she reached her bedroom. Alone at last, she stared into the mirror and concentrated.

Her form blurred, then solidified into a shape she would never let her father see. Her already slender body made more so. Her pupils larger. Her ears even longer and more pointed.

An elf. No longer trapped between two worlds, but solidly entrenched in one. The person she might have been had her true father raised her, instead of abandoning her.

”One day,” she whispers, laying a hand that both is and is not hers against the glass. ”One day I’ll belong.”

Third Scene:

Spoiler:

Cecilia’s heart pounded as she made her way through the crowded streets. For the first time in her life, her ears were uncovered in public. It felt...indecent.

But then that was the point. If she was going to do this, she couldn’t be Cecilia Volso. No, she was Ethara today. And Ethara had no reason to hide her heritage.

Another few streets and she had made her way to Grandbridge. Her heart beat faster. It seemed she could see elves everywhere, people who looked like her, talking and laughing and singing. Happy. Free.

(Was one of them her father? She’d been told he’d left Oppara after disgracing her mother. But it was Marus who had told her that, and she wasn’t entirely certain she believed him.)

She sidestepped a gossiping pair and moved on, hunting. Her target was the proprietor of a shop called Versatile Vials.

(It had taken her months of cautiously asking around to get that name. Months of subtle inquiries, overheard conversations, tidbits of idle gossip from a hundred different sources that she carefully gathered and pieced together into a coherent whole.)

There! Just at the end of the street. A neat-looking little shop. For a long moment Cecilia stood in the street, staring at it. Was she really going to do this? If Marus ever found out…

No. She couldn’t live her whole life being afraid. She’d worked too hard for this to turn back now.

She opened the door and walked in.

An elvish woman of indeterminate age was sitting behind the counter. ”Hello, welcome to Versatile Vials! I’m Anariel, is there anything in particular you’re looking for?”

Cecilia took a deep breath and curtsied. ”Hello, I’m Ethara. I heard...I heard that sometimes you taught classes. For half-breeds.” She wanted to say more, but the words stuck in her throat.

Anariel tilted her head, studying Cecilia closely. ”Your choice of words speaks volumes. No, I don’t teach ‘half-breeds.’ I teach half-elves.” She stood up and walked around the counter. ”Let me guess, elvish father you’ve never met and a human mother who refuses to talk about it?” Cecilia didn’t answer, but Anariel nodded as if she had. ”Not uncommon, in a city of this size. I’ve always thought it a shame that so many of our kind are left in the dark about their heritage.”

“Our kind?” Cecilia looked more closely at her. ”Are you a half-elf too?”

She laughed a little. ”No child, both my parents were elvish. But I have spent much time in human society, and feel a certain kinship for those caught between two worlds.” She moved back around the counter and pulled out a piece of paper. ”Here. My schedule. I teach classes nearly every evening on a variety of topics ranging from the elven language to traditional weaponry.”

Cecilia gingerly took the paper, mind racing. She’d have to memorize and get rid of it immediately, she couldn’t risk anyone finding it among her things. ”I...I don’t know how regularly I can attend.”

“I see. That, too, is not uncommon. Come whenever you wish. Or can.” For a long moment Anariel just...looked at her. Saw her.

No one ever saw her. Not really.

”Even if you only come once or twice, that is enough to learn the most valuable lesson I have to teach. That there are people in this city, many of them, who are just like you.”

People just like me.

Cool character! I wanted to do a Vigilante, but nothing really came to me, but that Archetype is pretty awesome.

Now I need to convince a GM some time to let me do that one, but with orc instead of elf, hahaha.

Ohhh, or do it as half-drow in Second Darkness, hahaha.

OK, try not to get my character confused for my twin's up there. ;)

I present my majordomo investigator: Tabar Ballast

I see him as providing the... education of the group. I have kitted him out with just about every knowledge type possible (sans planes and dungeons) and took a fun teamwork feat that allows me to pipe that knowledge to others.

Let me know if you have any questions or if I missed anything.

LOL, I submitted a female Half elf Double Scion Vigilante, too: Aurelia Talbot

I'm working on an Unchained Summoner using the Soulbound Summoner archetype. SO i'd be ditching all the summoning abilities in order to focus more on the eidolon, which also is tied to me personally and not something I summoned.

The idea behind the character is that it was his mother that originally summoned the eidolon and it was his mother that also bound the eidolon's essence to her son in an effort to protect him. It had all kinds of unforeseen side effects, but those are for my character to deal with (the Oracle's Curse that's part of the archetype to start with).

The threat she protected him from was the Golden League (criminal organisation in the Dragon Empires, think Triads and Yakuza in the mix) and that was also the reason he was shipped off from Amanadar to one of her cousins in Taldor. That happened 15 years ago, but the eidolon only appeared half a year ago. The first thing it did was tell my character his mother was dead and that she had bound it's essence to him as a precaution.
Up until then my character had just dreamt of joining the senate and living a fairly quiet life. There he'd hoped to both make life in Taldor a bit better and to have it work on better relations with it's only remaining colony.

On the more mechanics side of things, I'm still deciding what the eidolon will be. Archon, Inevitable and Devil are all still in the mix. Alignment of my character isn't really a factor here as the archetype gives the eidolon an alignment identical to my character's.

Want to give a slight update, I'm working on revising an earlier submission I did to this AP, a half-elven bard. While the story was mostly done, I have to rework the entire statblock from the gestalt submission it used to be, which takes a bit of time.

I'd like to ask one thing; I have a second idea for a female Chaotic Good version of Jack the Ripper, a Cabalist Vigilante or Vivisectionist Alchemist who might have commited a murder or two in the past on Decadent Taldan Nobles who went a bit far with their liberties on the common folk. Would such a character fit flavorwise into the campaign? It would be a Dex/int/cha build in both cases with a stronger focus on social skills and minor focus on assassination.

Here is Joker27s submission, Kaigo is a Sorcerer who was trained by a priest of Sarenrae so he uses elements of the faith in his magic (Indicated by the False priest Archetype, Though in this case, he makes no claims to be a priest just influenced and trained by them). The full backstory is in the Profile.

He fills one of the party face roles along with primary arcane caster.

Thank you for the update.

The vigilante character sounds less like Jack the Ripper and more like a character who decided to take matters into their own hands on one or two occasions. If that's the case, then that would be fine.

Looking at a half/orc shifter currently.

I need to have access to the campaign traits and dont have them. I checked out d20pfsrd but cant seem to narrow the traits down to just the one for this ap. Can anyone help?

You can either download the free player's guide from Paizo, or you can look here at the campaign traits on AoN. Scroll down toward the end of the page, they are listed by campaign in alphabetical order.

[i]rolled gold in herolab if thats cool got 110 total. willing to reroll here if you desire.

I used 26 of the 30 gold allotment on clothing. Can I take the other 4 in gold or does it just disappear?

I will have some background shortly

basic background:
I left room to adjust according to the other party members so that stories could be tied together.
..
Kaithros is of the lands of Taldor. Born of rage and raised within the shelters of stables, he learned the use of whip and word. During his teen years he was apprenticed to a stonemason architect. His apprenticeship was little more than room and board. He was boarded in a stall in the stone stables of the master architect. He had little privacy and learned quickly that the only way to survive was to hold your counsel or share only with those you implicitly trust. Trust few! became his mantra.
He spent those years well for he found that understanding architecture and stone work, helped get him where he would be unwelcomed otherwise. His desire to learn and to know what went on in the large “palaces” and with the “nobles”, he learned rather harshly that he would not be accepted into those circles easily. He never was quite satisfied with this, for he saw himself the equal of any noble and just unprivileged or uneducated when it came to things requiring gold. These were things that with time could be overcome.

So I decided to redo Kaithros due to not being completely happy with him as a shifter. So here he is update as a plain rogue and I am much happier.

Backstory:

The Valkavians were once a proud family. They fought alongside General Arnisant in the Shining Crusade, punishing the Whispering Tyrant and his undead hordes for daring to threaten the greatest empire since Azlant. Their star, though bright, did not last for long.

It was said that to be a Valkavian was to be cursed, haunted by ghosts brought back from the wars against the foul lich-king Tar-Baphon. Objects moved of their own accord and most heads of the family died not from natural causes, but from supreme misfortune when they were in the exact wrong place at the wrong time. In particular, the 13th head of the family, one Oedred the Third, died when a bookshelf crushed him during the opening ceremony of a grand library in their (now-demolished) manor outside of Oppara.

Needless to say, the high society of Taldor found this ghastly.

This dark stain upon the family ostracized them, and a slow, unstoppable decline was all that was in store for Valkavians.

Olnaris was born long after their glory days had ended. Their townhouse in Oppara was barely big enough for a single poorly-paid servant to work there. It was small and shabby, a far cry from the opulent manor they had so long ago. He grew up with a sad, distant mother and a father that spent more time railing against the nobility than he did actually raising his only child.

Only Kahaled, the family’s Kelish footman and sole servant, took any interest in the boy, and did what he could to make Olnaris’ childhood a pleasant one. Still, he had quite a bit of time alone, and in that time he found a talent. If he concentrated hard enough, if the conditions were just right, he could manipulate what he thought were the ghosts that haunted his family, could convince them to do his bidding and to move objects on their own.

His life was comfortable, and his family had more than most of the Taldan peasantry could ever dream of. That was until his father spoke out against Maxillar Pythareus for a slight against their family.

A week later, an urn fell on his father’s head at a large garden party attended by many of Taldor’s upper crust, including the High Strategos himself. The nobility shrugged it off as another instance of the Valkavian’s ill fortune, happy to let the family fade into obscurity.

Pythareus had paid little attention to the small, pale child playing in the bushes when he discussed his plans to kill Olnaris’ father, to finally do away with a troublesome element of the nobility.

The next weeks were a whirlwind as enemies of the family carved apart what little else the family had, leaving him and his mother destitute, cast out on the street. Their home was sold and Kahaled removed from their service. His mother didn’t last long. He was an orphan on the hard streets of Oppara, forced to steal and scrounge for a living.
He did, however, find that the hard conditions allowed him to refine his uncanny powers further. Olnaris knew that Pythareus had caused his family’s downfall, and he swore to get revenge.

Olnaris trained his uncanny powers, and as he refined them he found something interesting. It was not, in fact, ghosts. Rather, it was some inherent power that his forefathers simply had not been able to control. It aided him greatly in a life of crime, one he took to with surprising ease.

It took him years, but he clawed his way back into the graces of the Taldan nobility. The Valkavian name had been largely forgotten, something that greatly aided him.

As he set foot in his first soiree he swore that he would get revenge on Maxillar Pythareus, that he would crush the corrupt institutions of Taldor just as that urn had crushed his father at their cruel whims. He had suffered for years as an urchin in the street, and the fire of revenge in his chest would not be quenched.

There came a fateful day when he received a letter from Lady Martella Lotheed when he knew his chance would come.

Appearance and Personality:

Olnaris is a young well-dressed Taldan man. Though slightly frail, he makes up for it with lightning reflexes. He wears his hair in the style of the younger Taldan dilettantes, long but neatly maintained. His upper lip is accentuated by a thin mustache. He wears nothing by way of armor, and no weapons save for a small dagger. His true power comes from his telekinetic abilities, allowing him to remotely manipulate objects and, if needed, sling them with devastating force.

Olnaris is, at first glance, a charming if somewhat foppish young noble. He takes great pride in his appearance, and does whatever he can to look his best. Beneath his seemingly shallow veneer, however, is an ambitious and calculating mind. His foremost motivation is to tear down the corrupt nobles of Taldor, to bring justice to a country that, in his eyes, sorely lacks it. He also seeks mastery of his powers, to make it so that if he is suspiciously killed there can be no doubt of who did it. Someday, he also hopes to reconnect with Kahaled, to thank the man in Kelish for making his otherwise dismal childhood just a bit brighter. Beyond his goals, Olnaris is quite affable, taking genuine enjoyment in making new friends. His life on the streets has left him somewhat skittish, however, and he will not hesitate to strike against any threats.

Happy to be considered! Crossing my fingers here. Really great quality of submissions, although I'm under the impression some people don't exactly know what they're signing up for (the type of RP-heavy AP this is, I mean).

show me the money: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 5) = 16 x10 =160

I'm still not happy with Kaithros. Tweaking him more but he will remain a unchained rogue just may change race and stats.. SOrry for the change yet again.

background & appearance-personality:
Standing 5'1" and weighing in at a bare 125, this 18year old sunbrowned skin and haired, hazel eyed handsome man bows gracefully. I am happy to see you! It's been years since we last crossed paths but well I remember it. Pardon my appearance, I have just arrived here at Oppara for the opportunity of the festival. AH! yes I am aware of the ball in fact one of my benefactors has provided me with an opportunity to attend. I have never been but am anxious to. Once again the man bows Now if you will excuse me. I have somewhere to be and someone to meet. Picking up his small chest of goods, he walks into the the crowd headed towards a small well built and moderately successful inn.

Raised among humans, taught to hide his canine form, Denin Strigh or Kaithros in his true form grew up in Taldan. Things were good in his family of merchants. They were not rich but he was afforded all the privileges that their wealth would allow. He went to prominent schools, walked in merchant and lesser noble circles, and dabbled in magics. He learned to mend things and the basic magic of prestidigitation- a mages minor tricks and flashy entertainment basics.

Having left those circles, when his real identity as Kaithros was discovered, he left the city of as well for another one in which he could again hide his identity. To improve his disguise, he began to learn languages and with some har work he was able to become fluent in the language of the elves. This was also a language used in trading.
With his new identity once again established, he began to wander the streets picking up skills of legerdemain with his hands and quicker tongue with his words. He found that instead of living just 2 lives he could with simple disguises, live several peoples lives. The thought intrigue him and so he continued to strengthen his abilities learning not just how, but when to use them, was the biggest challenge.
One day, another person approached him and asked to speak in private. He was a bit reluctant until his true name was mentioned. He quickly led them from the hustle of the market to a lone alleyway to talk.
How do you know that name? were the first words from his mouth. I have known that man along time. Denin said. Laughter was the response from his "new" acquaintance. That man is both you and not. You see we have known of you for a few years and have been testing and watching you. You are nw skilled enough to be of use to us if you choose. Here us out then decide. Either way your true identity is safe we will not spread your lineage around. the lithe stranger said.
And so a tale was told and a referral was made. The young Kitsune headed to Oppara for the grand ball.

Well, took a while to nail down, but here's Shasvi Varima, mesmerist noblewoman who is unaware of her rakshasa-spawn heritage.

background, appearance, personality:
The Varima are known in Taldor for their skill at diplomacy and negotiation, but just how they got this skill is a secret, deliberately hidden ages ago from any prying eyes and forgotten even within the house to all but their most studious loremasters: brought to Taldor with the first of the Varima who migrated from Vudra, the blood of the foul fiends known as the rakshasa courses through their veins. The effects of this heritage are mostly too diluted to have any effect nowadays, such that not even the leaders of the house are aware of anything strange among themselves, but every once in a while they manifest strongly in an individual like Shasvi. Although she and her family, low-ranking junior members of the Varima as they are, have never had any inkling that Shasvi is anything other than human, they've always known that she's not an ordinary person.

Even as a child who could barely speak, Shasvi seemed to be unnaturally persuasive, easily convincing those around her to cater to her childish whims. Although this perhaps hindered her maturation a little, she and those around her eventually became aware of her supernatural abilities and learned how to control or cope with them. As she grew older, so did her powers, until she fully manifested her psychic magic. Even now, though, Shasvi remains largely unaware of the extent of the psychic powers she possesses, not having had much reason to question just how the world around her usually works. However, she is keenly aware - as has been made rather clear to her - that her brand of magic isn't exactly accepted in Taldan society, so she tries to keep public displays as limited as she can, which, considering the nature of her abilities, is not too much of a change.

With most of the Varima family not wanting to pick sides between the Imperialists and Loyalists that have been dominating recent politics - or at least, not wanting to give the appearance of having picked sides - Shasvi, known within the family for her skills but not much outside of it, was quietly chosen to act as an agent on the house's behalf, to be easily explained away as a junior member acting on her own accord if necessary. She was put into contact with Lady Martella Lotheed, known to them as an opponent of the traditionalist elements of her own family - for most of the Varima recognize that the best way forward to peace, stability, and prosperity in Taldor lies with the more progressive society championed by the Princess. Given a vague set of directions and a rough sense of what is needed of her, Shasvi is prepared for her unexpected chance to bring her talents to the grandest stage of Taldan politics.

With her dark skin, shapely figure, flowing long hair, and piercing eyes, Shasvi represents well the natural beauty of the Vudrani people, though the closer one studies her features, the more unnatural they may seem. Though her rakshasa heritage is otherwise largely hidden, they can most strongly be seen in her tiger-like eyes, though even that is mostly indistinguishable from normal human coloration, and barely noticeable due to her psychic manipulations. She dresses with the typical opulence of the Opparan nobility, with a a bit of Vudrani flair in her jewelry and makeup though still mainly Taldan in style, and a bit understated in an attempt to not stand out too much from the crowd.

Shasvi often comes off as shy and quiet, but in reality that's just how she tries to deflect attention from herself when she's focused on her subtle schemes and manipulations. When those schemes are revealed, whether by herself or others, she seems to become confident, to the point of being arrogant, but again that's just another mind trick. If she's got nothing to hide - which is rare, generally only around those she trusts enough to know about her true abilities - her real personality comes out: cheerful and playful, but respectful of boundaries and authority. Her somewhat sheltered and psychic-enhanced upbringing means that her mind doesn't work exactly as one would expect, but she's quick-witted enough to fake through it most of the time, and at the same time helps make her seem less threatening and more unpredictable to those who don't know her.

I am getting close to finishing the backstort and will prpbably have the full submission up later tomorrow.

Just posting to let the GM know Im still interested

Thank you everyone for the updates! I'll provide an updated list of characters submitted later today.

This is my (Trevor 86's) mostly finished submission! The only thing that is missing are the statistics, which I'm working on and will be posted somewhere later today or tomorrow.

On the side, I wanted to ask one thing just to be sure. To be part of a Major Taldan noble family, do you need only the noble scion feat or both the noble scion feat and the child of Oppara trait? My backstory is currently based on the assumption that I could take a different campaign trait alongside that feat (to be a Rising Star skilled tailor from the Talbots), but one interpretation of the Child trait is that both are required.

Dark Archive

Quote:

VARIANT FEAT—NOBLE SCION

You are a member of one of the significant noble families of
Oppara, whether or not you remain in good standing with
your family. In many cases, these families are Imperialists
loyal to Maxillar Pythareus, and as such you either are a
black sheep or your family has cut you off entirely.
Prerequisites: Charisma 13 or Child of Oppara trait,
must be taken at 1st level.

To take the Noble Scion Variant that lets you be part of a major house you either need Child of Oppara or a Charisma of 13 or Higher. As long as you meet either prerequisite you can take the variant and be part of a larger noble house.

Child of Oppara Trait wrote:

The trait just says you need the Noble Scion feat, it doesn't say "in addition to" the Child of Oppara trait.

Ah, thanks for clarifing. I missed that alternate requirement of the feat which answered my question. On the second part, that was my interpretation as well but given that it is inside the child of Oppara's text box, as well as the language being a bit vague, I thought others might have thought differently.

I'd like to dot in to make a submission. I'm currently thinking of a bard, but I need to check something tomorrow before I commit to that. I'll have something more final by the deadline.

All right, finished the submission! Was my first time working with hero lab and had to manually fix a few things, but everything should be in order. Looking forward to the results, and good luck to everyone else!

You guys aren't making this easy on me. There are a lot of good characters here, and it's really making me wish I had the bandwidth to open a second table.

I added a few last-minute flavor and realism touches on a few segments of my submission, such as what measures she's taken to protect herself while in her social identity, and expanded on her personality a bit.

Looks like a great list. Only thing for me is that kaithros is Kitsune not half orc but that is a minor detail. I dont envy the choice you have.

Assuming I get selected, I would be open to working on reasons why Tabar would know other members of the party.

Same here. Particularly with vigilantes, I feel it's important to have a pre-existing connection to explain why the rest of the party knows both identities. (There's always the option of having them not know, but that gets awkward very quickly. 'Oh no, Bruce Wayne can't help us with this fight we just got into! If only Batman were here...')

Cecilia's backstory was deliberately left open in terms of how exactly she started working for Martella Lotheed, so there's potential hooks there.

I'm still checking in, and still eager for Max to get a chance here. Just haven't posted in account of nothing to say yet.

Akorian Kotusia is still interested...

Still here and watching. It's looking like it'll be a hard choice here with so many great concepts, good luck everyone,

There are so many good choices and so many wonderful combinations of groups that could happen.

I could run a second table, but I would have to limit my posting to an expectation of every other day (potential for daily still existing but not required on either my or anyone else's end).

If you would like to express an opinion on this, go right ahead. I've gone back and forth on it several times myself (pbp is slow enough even with once daily posting, but this AP allows so much RP opportunity that combat would not be the main hangup, etc etc). If you don't have an opinion on this option other than you'd rather that so more can play, just favorite this comment so I can get a rough count.
