Queen and Whale

Manny aims his last alchemist's fire at the mouth of Whale
[dice=Alchemist Fire]1d20+6;1d6+2
As it was blind, Manny manages to toss it into the whale's mouth killing it. It fizzles for awhile, then turns belly up.
Emerald Delta Waters |
Is the other octopus named Dr Harry V.
Swim up to the queen and attack.
Attack sword thunderstaff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d8 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 6
woohoo, you've got to ask yourself one question:
Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk!!
brvheart |
Emerald kills off the queen so the octopus goes away. xp=400 each including story award for freeing Sandara and Jake.
Sandara Quinn gives to Emerald her Besmara’s tricorne as a token of her gratitude for rescuing her.
Emerald Delta Waters |
Who needs healing, we have two clerics at the moment?
Perception to find my obsession, Treasure, but I'm terrible at it, could use help from, I don't know, a rogue???: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
searching in the gullet of the fish and the queen.
Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold, Mate
Then let's get back to shore, These caves make me cloisterphobic, can't see the sky or the stars to know which end is up. That's the thing about living under the sea, the only constant in a 3 dimensional world is the sky and the sea floor, it's quite disconcerting to loose one and still know which direction to go.
brvheart |
Vikla uses some channels from a distance to kill the remaining Lacedons chained to the bottom.
Mission succesfully, now lets loot that place dry!
That's another 135 xp each. I will also grant 400 xp each for the rest
of the grindylows that are effectively defeated by killing the queen.Treasure: Dozens of scrimshaw objects litter the chamber in various
nooks and crannies carved into the walls. Although many of these items
are merely curious, repulsive, or both, among them are the
jawbone of a shark carved with scrimshaw images of a vast
octopus eating whales and containing a dozen silver and
gold rings hammered into it (worth 250 gp), a huge hooked
tooth from some colossal sea creature with a seaweedplugged
cavity containing six pearls worth 75 gp each,
and a whale skull weighing 25 pounds whose scrimshaw
carvings function as arcane scrolls
In addition, a total of eight 4-pound silver ingots are
attached to Sandara Quinn and the other captive pirate,
each worth 20 gp. The rest of their equipment lies
scattered on the floor among the lacedons’ masterwork
manacles, along with four heavy crossbow bolts, a silver
spearhead, an iron bracelet, 211 sp, and 136 gp in
assorted coins.

Casting detect magic
Spellcraft crossbow bolts: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Spellcraft iron bracelet: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
we now have both:
They function as greater bracers of archery, except they grant a +1 competence bonus on attack rolls and no bonus on damage rolls.
These bracers look like normal protective wear. They empower the wearer to use any bow (not including crossbows) as if she were proficient in its use.
If she already has proficiency with any type of bow, she gains a +1 competence bonus on attack rolls whenever using that type of bow. Both bracers must be worn for the magic to be effective.
Laroisael |
As the summoned dolphin leaves, Laroisael swims over and helps however she can.
She looks at Sandara and the other pirate and smiles, “Thank the gods you two are alive. I had a feeling you two weren’t dead.”
Capricia the Pirate |
Capricia returns Sandara's masterwork rapier, bowing her head a bit. Then she claps Jack Scrimshaw on the shoulder before hunting down the wand the grindylow queen had used to summon the octopus.
Nutѕ |
"Was there anyone else with you? Or just you two?" Nuts chimes in the conversation.
"Let's get out of here before more of those things show up. And before those imbeciles leave us here."

Capricia returns Sandara's masterwork rapier, bowing her head a bit. Then she claps Jack Scrimshaw on the shoulder before hunting down the wand the grindylow queen had used to summon the octopus.
She had not only the wand, but a potion, a harpoon, a lobster pot containing grindylow flensing knives including two masterwork daggers, a
masterwork silver dagger, a rusting masterwork cold iron sickle,a scrimshaw blade of great workmanship depicting an octopus worth 125 gp, and 12 other blades of varying shape and quality all of them size small.

"Was there anyone else with you? Or just you two?" Nuts chimes in the conversation.
"Let's get out of here before more of those things show up. And before those imbeciles leave us here."
"We never saw anyone else. They were quite hungry, eager to eat as many of you they could get enticed to come here. "
the 48 hours will be up tomorrow morning so yes, you need to make some haste as you have to collect the water barrels and the Man's Promise is on the other side of the Island.

really?? No one is leaving anyone.
Laroisael |
really?? No one is leaving anyone.
"He means that the damn ship will leave us behind if we don't get back in time."
Capricia the Pirate |
Capricia nods at Laroisael's words. To Sandara and Jack she adds, "Plugg and Scourge had no intention of trying to rescue you two. If the ship hadn't been damaged and its water barrels burst, we'd have never come to this island."
Nutѕ |
"Yeap. See, that's our value in their eyes. I've no idea what they would do without a crew to begin with." the halfling adds.
After a short pause to let that hang, he continues. "If we want to talk about that, I suggest we do that on the way to the ship."
He looks around inquisitively, and slowly starts walking (or swimming) to whatever direction lead us here.
Vikla Ragnardottir |
we should indeed consider affecting a change of leadership. It was my impression that Plugg and Scourge are a) bad leaders b) disloyal to their boss and will c) have likely alienated more people in our absence.
Vikla offers
Nutѕ |
"I honestly don't care if they are not loyal to their boss. It's the fact that neither of those three care about their crew, apparently."
Emerald Delta Waters |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
When we get back to the cabin, we should gear up and divide the loot. Then we will be ready when we get aboard ship.
I think I should make a couple of you invisible before going on board and say you didn't make it, for a element of surprise.
brvheart |
Climbing the cliff face and getting back to the cabin will take an hour or two.
Emerald Delta Waters |
Well, where to now that we are on top of the cliff.
Vikla Ragnardottir |
Their obvious disloyalty to their boss means that, if we mutiny, we mutiny against them, not against Harrigan, who is a far more dangerous individual to mess with
I have a bless, a command, a spiritual weapon and a channel left, but am still fairly healthy.
She returns to Sandara a holy item of Besmara.
How do you look Sister?
Nutѕ |
"Or..." Nuts has a heureka moment. "We break all water barrels, and give everyone Vikla's magical water. Since the officers don't drink that, they will just expire after a week."
He shrugs.
brvheart |
Profession sailor DC 10. A ship and its crew requires a LOT of water oer day and magical or not, you need a place to keep it. Not unless your cleric wants to spend all day casting create water on the spot for dishes, swabbing decks, cooking to say nothing of the 40+ gallons of drinking water per day. Nice thought though.
Laroisael |
Profession sailor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
“If only it would be easy enough to just shank those two. We can’t do that without having to face the wrath of his loyal dogs.”
Emerald Delta Waters |
It's about mid day when we get back to the cabin, we are out of spells and need healing, rest, to recover. We also have a lot of cargo to pack back to the ship. So, get some food and start packing. We just need to decide if we are resting here and leaving in the night or tracking to the other end of the island before resting?
Emerald Delta Waters |
The jolly boat is 20 feet long, has two pairs of oars and a single mast with a square sail, and can carry up to 12 passengers and crew.
we can sleep here then and sail everything back to the other boat and then the ship by morning if we leave about 3am, get there by sunrise.
Profession Sailor: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
brvheart |
Once you sleep and sail towards the north end of the island there are a couple of items that remain to be identified and divided.
