I play exclusively PBP now that I have found it. A combination of being Autistic and living 5 miles outside of nowhere (not even the middle of nowhere). So I don't think I will need to worry about having things printed for conventions.

I find the digital more useful for cons, too. Less to carry, and I can easily send the GM a link to my drive.
Each character's folder name starts with their OPF # and then their name. Makes it easier to find them!

I'll update later today. Took (and passed) a martial arts belt exam last night. Had nothing left in the tank after that... and I'm still sore from the experience... :)
You might say I'm a lvl 2 monk now! ;)

I'll be out most of today, so not sure if I can post or not from my phone. Just do fighter things, but no shield this time if a fight breaks out, 2 handing the bastard sword. Everything should be on my character sheet.

Nice! I took some classes in the past and I know how hard it can be. Congratulations.

Also. Winston just wants us to help his parents, and we here taking out weapons like we ready to beat up someone.
(I still don't trust him, but oh well, Ashun is more of an optimist than I'll ever be)

Bitty trusted him at first, but this whole sketchy alleyway is screaming at me for an ambush. Which quite frankly, I want to show up now. The suspense is agonizing.

Usually Bea stays out of combat, I just put him there because Ashun isn't that worried about a fight breaking out and hurting the lizard.
But while looking for his stats in case anything happens, I just noticed that my familiar has to be tiny. My mistake for not reading it properly.
Unfortunately a real life blue iguana is about 5 ft, which would make Bea a medium creature, which would be on par with a monitor lizard or a giant gecko. I guess the closest thing I can have to an iguana is either a snapping turtle or a compsognathus. Probably a bit closer to a snapping turtle?
Doesn't make much of a difference for me because I don't care about the stats, but Bea just lost a meter in length and went down two sizes.
[sad emoji disintegrating.gif]
I'll quickly create an info tab on the profile for him. I'm sorry!
edit: There.

Your familiar can be a baby iguana. But Bitty will always treat it like a dinosaur.

Bee doesn't distrust Winston. He is, one - reacting to the nervousness of some of the others, and two - a bit nervous about this alley in a sketchy part of town himself.

Fun Fact. I think the last PFS game/event in my country was supposed to happen in 2019? So, I feel you.
But Bitty will always treat it like a dinosaur.
I bet Bea would be fine with that. Maybe one day we will know.

I can't see the symbols, but maybe they're just not working on mobile.
Rebuilding PFS has been hard post-pandemic, though now our venue at Dreamers regularly hosts 3 tables of people with a waitlist. We had to start with just a couple players at the table, but hosting games week after week got us a reputation as a steady group.
Then ORC hit, and we've in overflow mode. I do hope you can get PFS going in your country again. It's nice having a healthy international community.

At this point, I'm kinda used to it. Very rarely are there fun nerd/geek events happening here. And sometimes, they aren't cheap. Be either because travelling or whatever entrance or service fee.

Oh right, I always forget about this. Also people coming over from D&D. It's a good thing it's growing fast though, even if a bit overwhelming. But I'm really out of the loop since the closest thing I have to a social is Discord. And I'm not in active in any big servers.
⠀
I've never tried organized play. But when I played PF1 in 2018 and then PF2 in 2019, I immediately became enamored with the ammount of customization the system offers, so when a friend decided to DM Troubles in Otari, I got curious about PFS, one thing led to another, and a week after that I made my first forum post asking how to join.

Well, I hope you three newcomers do explore other games on Cottonseed and with the conventions. The PBP Community is a welcoming one.

To be honest, recruitment really intimidates me. I have applied to two recruitment threads in my history - and actually been accepted both times - but it still terrifies me.

A lot of Cottonseed games are first come, first serve -- which can be frustrating for those from Australia and Asia because games fill up fast. This one was also FCFS, but with four reserved seats.

I run games fairly regularly. Usually multiple tables if there are enough players. If you have any preference, let me know. If I can't run it, I might be able to point you in the general direction of a GM who can.
Cottonseed is the thread where Recruitment for games is located. That's where I saw Cath's request. Of course, Bitty Blue can cast a potent spell that works for short games like these...

Even if not very good at it, I absolutely love writing. I can easily create a character with a whole backstory and aspirations in a few minutes. I'd say the sheet is the part I usually take the longest.
So, depending on the party and the mission, I can make a character that can fit most playstyles. But personally I'd say I prefer more... exploration? puzzle solving? type of adventures, with roleplaying second, specially when helping develop others characters, it's really fun fun, and combat third, been a few years since I stopped munchkining.
Bitty Blue can cast a potent spell
I don't doubt it, but what?
GM Tiger

"munchkining?" The last time I heard that term was on a chess server decades ago...
Ashun

For some reason that term became synonymous with "Powerplay"
I don't feel that combat rush anymore, so I stopped making perfectly optimized builds a while ago.

Which country/timezone are you in Ashun? All of my PFS1 and Starfinder play/GM has to be online and nearly half of my PFS2 also online either via Discord or forums. I'm trying to get more online play going from here in New Zealand.
Bitty Blue

I don't think that I munchkin at all. Yes, my characters are mechanically sound, but they're also roleplayed to the hilt. I try to have short but intriguing backstories, and then invest in a front story that lends itself to adventuring. In this case, her Grandma Beryl Blue (former adventurer herself) has insisted that Bitty leave the comfort of Cloudspire and see the world to get over some of her shyness and gain poise and self-confidence. It's a short and sweet hook that works well for Bitty.
Rather, I think the spell that I cast in this case has a fascination effect. I think Tiger has enjoyed my characters in his games. They're all a bit quirky, they move gameplay along, and they provide roleplay hooks for other characters to respond to. Tiger wants to GM for me to see what I do next.

Just read Gameplay. Huh. There actually was a trap there.
Well, this should set off the ambush.

B16 is a fun bounty to run... though it seems to bring out the worst in people. The second time I ran this I had to issue infamy warnings because the party was about to lynch Wiston... (before the ambush)

That and I tend to learn things when I GM for Hmm... I've gotten better at GM'ing when I run games for her... Also I think my RP has improved somewhat... though it's not really my strong suit... :)

Which country/timezone are you in Ashun?
UTC -3, plenty of online games happening. But I live in Brazil, and the TTRPG scene is very very very tiny compared to most other countries.
Yes, my characters are mechanically sound, but they're also roleplayed to the hilt.
I try to do the same. Something that feels novel, but also won't slow down the party. For example, Ashun was totally built focusing on crafting, but I also got some stuff that would help others if needed. For example, I'm not making a Greatpick Shocking Grasp Magus to deal 4d12+10 or whatever at level 1 so soon.
Huh. There actually was a trap there.
As long as Bea is fine, I'm fine. (even though he can ressurect, I can't >.>)
B16 is a fun bounty to run... though it seems to bring out the worst in people.
I'll admit that if I wasn't using Ashun, things would've started getting spicy. I'd still try to avoid infamy though.
That and I tend to learn things when I GM for Hmm...
Awwn
But yeah, running games for people who effectively try to push the game forward or help the GM feels so nice.

I'm gone with the family for a day, and Winston lured us into an ambush. That wasn't nice.
On another note, I'm new to play by post, and had been taking notes and copying others while reading up how to do it properly. It seems nice, and there's a lot more role play done from my understanding, which I enjoy.
Ashun

there's a lot more role play done
I'd say it depends a whole lot on the group. I would say that PBP is more narrative focused, you have to write out what your character is going to do, you have more time to think, to flair your words, movement, actions... I'd say It feels like a book.
Right now I'm DMing on Discord/Foundry for two different DND groups.
Table 1 is really mechanically inclined, they can fight three creatures +5 at the same time and not break a sweat. But when they have a chance to RP, it's "oh, uhm, hi village elder, where's the next quest?"
Table 2 has spent up to three sessions in Roleplay only. But combat isn't their forte. But when a fight breaks out, the session slows down to crawl.
But overall, I'd say it feels like a movie. Less time spent on details but stuff moves faster.
I do love roleplaying though.

Reminds me of my workplace group. They just want to fight and fight and fight and fight. Give them a chance to role play and they're reading their stats from their character sheets...
Me: "Ok, who wants to introduce themselves first?"
Them: blink... blink...
Me: "Don't everybody speak at once..."

I told you, I told you, I told. But you didn't want to hear me, you didn't want to hear me, you didn't want to hear me. No no no.
I am a bit confused out of character.
How much of what your character posts is audible?

I also have this question. I thought everything he posted was thought balloons, and Bitty is not psychic.

Since we are in the city..... I think using a whip or sap might be beneficial to show I attempted self defense since they say non-lethal in their description.
