Ami checks and finds some bones in the cave, but they look to be from a caribou.
With the bear dead, you rush to the finish line.
Two tall, wooden linnorm statues mark the finish line to the harrowing Balgirdtrek. Crossing the line, the gathered crowd of spectators and participants cheers and applauds. Racers are met with blankets, soup, and medical supplies almost as soon as they are within the village of Frostgarten, where spectators are gathered to celebrate the competition and those who completed it.
You get quite a few Varki excitedly cheering as you are the first to come in.
Someone in your group reports the bear to the race officials. They immediately send a team out to verify what you said. When the officials get the report back, they are very impressed by your heroics.
Your team is given a scroll with a local spell called snowball inscribed on it as reward for protecting the trail and killing the bear.
Once you have warmed up, you are told of one last formality. As the winning team you are tasked with helping to prepare the feast and medical supplies for the remaining racers. Once the last of the teams cross the finish line, the festivities begin.
A massive feast is prepared, and your team is given a place of honor at the banquet table. There is much rejoicing.
