Hihi, sorry, had a family emergency yesterday and have been away from the computer!

![]() |

That was more because when it was reported, the date field was blank which pushed it right down to the bottom of the list of sessions in the Paizo database. And, since when reporting, there's a popup calendar defaulting to the current date, I didn't think it was possible to enter a blank date.

Another question
Can I use Skill Training for Lore? Or only Skill Increase?
Because since I'm getting Alchemist Dedication for level 2, it gives me a free skill training since I already have Crafting. Can I use that for more Lore?

![]() |

I would vote yes as well. For the same reasons. Lore is not a single skill, it is a bunch of separate skills that get grouped together for ease of word count in the rules. But each individual Lore skill is still just a skill and can be boosted with skill boosts just like any other skill.
There are some class features that have the word 'Lore' in them that aren't actually Lore skills and can't be boosted with skill boosts.

![]() |

Aww yiss
I'm gonna be so loreful!
I'm so confused about how the dedication, reagents and daily crafting works tho @_@
I'm reading and re-reading, so pardon me if I get or do some stuff wrong.

Egg's missing from the slides! :)

![]() |

just curious -- what's everyone's XP going to be at after 04-01? I know Bitty's going to be 2 away from lvl 3...

![]() |

no worries. My day's turning out to be nuts today anyway... :)

![]() |

I have one that has been 'going to start in the next couple weeks' for over six months now.

![]() |

It's not just Cath - many of my other games seemed to have stalled too.
A lot of games are probably waiting for the actual start of PBP Game day to run box text, but we could start pre-game RP.

GM Hmm |

So... It's been a full week. I am willing to step in as GM until Cath comes back, or take the GM slot for the scenario if Cath just wants to play. I'll put up a post tomorrow.
Hmm

![]() |

So Sam doesn't get to interact with Bitty and Egg?

So Sam doesn't get to interact with Bitty and Egg?
I'm hoping this is short term and that Cath returns to us. I've sent her player a couple emails but have not heard back yet.

![]() |

First, thanks Hmm for stepping in on this.
Quick questions:
Where am I? I don't see a token for me on the map, and I don't see a section for A5: The Precarious Shelves.
Am I up on the shelves and need to climb down? With or without a climb check?

![]() |

I think you're on the tallest place on the map with Sam.
I don't know rules for fall damage, but it appears you'd need to take the stairs to your right to avoid falling?

GM Hmm |

You are on the map near A5, the precarious shelves. You earned a critical success on your climbing and came back with Venomous Dagger. I'm willing to say that you and Sam climbed down when you heard the noise from Rain.

Question:
Purple spear: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7Purple spear: 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 5 = 18
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
From my HP tracking, it indicates that both attacks hit. But why would the second one hit?
Dueling Parry would put my AC at 21. Shade dude would need to be applying Frightened 3 in order to make an 18 hit.
Also, my status tracking doesn't have the Frightened 1 condition that Ashun does. I'm suspecting that it should.

((Do thaumaturges get to do anything else eventually?))
It's based on implement choice. And if you want to use your martial weapon proficiency.
In my group I am one of the two main front-line defensive combatants with Amulet Implement and a light mace. My defensive buddy is a Warpriest Cleric with a shield. We also have a Ranger with a Badger companion mixing it up with us in the front, and a couple spellcasters and a bow monk shooting things for us.
At level 5 you get a second implement. But that sure seems like a long way away while we are level 1.
For this group, you may be one of the best suited for finding out and announcing what these (or any) creatures are and how best to fight them.

So what happened is that I wrote all this up, had a printing issue and had to contact support, so copied all my text into docs and then we restarted my entire profile at work.
And somehow when I came back to post this, all my numbers had changed, but I was too busy at work to notice. Take that second hit back. The weird thing about this is numbers never change when I come back, so I didn't doublecheck the post the way I normally do.
Gah.
I apologize.

Thaumaturges can and do kick butt, but only if you build for it. I think that if you took a gun or something where you could add your thaumaturge damage you might be a lot more effective in battle, but I have not checked where your dex and strength are. The wand is one of the less effective implements.
I have built three thaums so far. My two strength-based thaums are very effective in combat. I especially love my mirror thaum, Jinglemane, who flanks with himself on a regular basis.

Ah. That would definitely do it.
No worries on my part. I'm well aware of how much work these GM posts can be.

Sam appears to have more steel in her in battle... :)

(who rolls? ignore mine if it's them or the DM)
The way to know is if the action is marked with the Secret trait.
So for Recall Knowledge and Sneak, post that you are using the action and list your bonus, but let the GM roll. For Climb you can roll that yourself.

![]() |

The way to know is if the action is marked with the Secret trait.
And as for healing potions and similar? Who rolls for the heal/effect?
The person administering the potion, the person drinking the potion, or the DM?
GM Hmm |

I don't care. Anyone can roll it! BTW, does anyone know where JG is?

![]() |

@Konbu --
Have you seen the Evolving Destiny ACP boon? It would let you retrain Konbu's implement and attributes so that you could do something else in combat. If you can get either a higher dex or a higher strength, you could make use of martial weapons and maybe do more interesting things in combat.
If you're happy with the wand implement you can ignore me. But I'd actually consider the retraining boon and play with other thaumaturge implements.

![]() |

There is also just an equipment and tactics change. Grab some armor and a one-hand weapon and you become a really effective switch hitter. Wand in one hand and weapon in the other. Then you have reason to do Exploit Vulnerability and you don't need to drop back if the enemies advance on you.

![]() |

The boon would allow for the attribute shift to hit a bit better, though. Still you could grab a weapon right now if you want.

![]() |

Timezone issues, I think. He's in Europe IIRC. He posted in another 04-01 for GDXII (test driving a halberd-wielding magus... after seeing the devastation the weapon can do, I thought I'd try it out)

Will most likely do Q15 - In the Footsteps of Horror (2 XP, 5 Treasure Bundles, 1-4 Repeatable) when it drops later this month. That should equalize everyone's outstanding 2 XP

GM Hmm |

Well, I'm glad you're here now. Why don't you post what you'r searching for?

Will this be after the Second Confirmation?

Sure... since the reverse wouldn't be possible :)

The "sword with magical glitter" made me laugh... then I remembered that I did use it in the game with Macondi :)
