Looking for players CORE levels 5–9

In the year of the Sky Key, the Pathfinder Society sent teams all over the world to recover pieces of the sky key relic. Imagine their surprise when the Pathfinder Society learns that one such piece was within the Hao Jin Tapestry!

Are you willing to volunteer for the simple retrieval mission? What could go wrong?

Hey GMs --

Outpost does attract people who aren't Flaxseed regulars. So please PM your players who don't respond to the muster call, because not all of them may be checking in here.

I'm looking to run 4-02: In Wrath's Shadow (Subtier 3-4) at a faster-than-usual pace as a sort of experiment. I need three more players to complete the four player group, with the posting expectations stated in the Discussion thread HERE. If you can commit to the speed, to apply to this game, DM me with your PC details (Character name, level, class), and a link to a post where you're personally happy with your roleplaying or writing.

Edit: The table's full. Thanks for the quick response.

One of our players has gracefully bowed out (literally with significant gracefulness, I'd give it a 10 for sure). We now have a slot for the following scenario.

This is an Outpost II game, #10-06, Treason's Chains on line 77* has one slot open and it appears we are going to be playing in the 4-5 tier. As far as player levels though, we do have someone knowingly playing well out of tier with a lv 2 ranged character. So I guess it all depends on your comfort level with out of tier stuff.

*If joining, go ahead and sign up on the linked spreadsheet first, then use the link on there to introduce yourself in discussion as well as dotting into gameplay, thanks!

Is there any way to play 8-99A: The Solstice Scar, Version A for credit or is this scenario retired and can't be played for credit any more?

I believe A, B, and C are all retired now

Grand Lodge

So, there is no way that I can play 8-99A: The Solstice Scar, Version A for credit?

That is correct.

Grand Archive

There is always the chance that changes in the future, especially with PF2 around the corner and Paizo discussing replay options for PF1, but as of right now, no, there is no way to get credit.

Keep in mind that there isn't too much to gain from playing Part A anyway.:
Many of the parts have overlapping sections and the boon for playing all 4 is a discount on a weapon most players won't buy anyway (a holy avenger dagger).

Grand Lodge

Aw, man, spoiler alert! ;-)

Sorry, I didn't think posting part of a boon from a retired scenario would be an issue.

Grand Lodge

Well, the latest part isn’t retired yet.

Honestly, I'm not sure anything is worth playing Solstice Scar four times with the same character. It would be like replaying the Confirmation two or three times with the same character. Not that masochism is necessarily a bad thing, it's just not my thing.

I'm a massochist, I guess. It just appeals me to play all the scenarios in a series with the same character and I do it whenever I can. But you are absolutely right in this case. It is like replaying the Confirmation.

It looks like the optimal strategy would be to play A and C on one character, then B and D on the other character. That would leave only Part 3 and 5 to be played twice on the same character. You would still play part 3 the most, 3 times over two characters. But we didn't really have any way to know that as it released.

But I like playing The Confirmation...*sniff* *sniff*

BTW, what is the concept behind having a special that changes slightly over time? I feel like I'm missing the idea behind play a scenario that is mostly replay.

Experimenting with alternate methods of releasing content that allows for more content while minimizing the overhead on campaign staff.

Dark Archive

I see. Thanks.

Each of the versions has had different boons.

Although, I'm confused each time by how I should play it in character.

Is my character in some sort of groundhog day scenario or is he just finding 4 adventures that are very, very similar in some sections?

Silver Crusade

I don’t think it worked as a concept. The story would have been better done as a module.

I've been treating those sessions as reruns of earlier episodes, albeit with somewhat different outcomes... And different party members...

philipjcormier wrote:

Me too, but not with the same character over and over. Any boons that require you to play what is mostly the same game four times should have at least allowed you to play it with four different characters. Edit To be clear, if I sound "ranty" please know that I'm not ranting at anyone in particular--okay, maybe the editors/design team. I'm just a tad angry about replaying what was mostly the same game that one time.

EbonFist wrote:

When I realized what was happening, I just had my PC play it using "character knowledge" of what was going to happen--like it was a time travel accident. Like anyone with so much foreknowledge of events she just interrupted people and told them what they were going to say before they said it. "Yes, I know exactly who you are, and why you are here. I also know that we are about to be attacked by something that is going to come through that door over there. So shut up and help me push this table over."

EbonFist wrote:

I blame the Grand Lodge's dumb time-traveling landscaping project from a few years ago. Who ever heard of a time-traveling rose garden? It totally should have been a hot tub, a police box, or a DeLorean.

supervillan wrote:

Or as a two part scenario (made up of two different, non-copy and pasted scenarios) or as an actual time travel adventure, or even as a sort of modular module like From the Tome of Righteous Repose.

This whole replay thing really is very confusing. In my case I jumped into 'B' as a replacement character. I had not read any of the rules but took the word of those playing already that you could play it again. I had just finished 'A'. It was totally like ground hogs day. When we finished, i got a Chronicle but it never was reported on the character. I was left wondering if i had messed up or misunderstood. I thought 'maybe you don't get more experience or prestige for the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th runs'. Anyway, I counted it and moved on. I missed 'C' I think on purpose. But with outpostII, I think i found almost the same party as my run thru on 'B'. I look forward to it, almost like a reunion. It will be fun to see how people have developed their characters. And they were a great group. I think it will be a unique experience.

Wydroe, if you want to send me the chronicle information for your B run, I can try to get your reporting fixed. Character and event number, along with date and GM number would be what I need.
