It is with sincere interest and most humble respect that I write you this letter. I have been following your exploits for some time, and am particularly impressed with the recent affair in which you distinguished yourself so nobly. We live in a time of danger and uncertainty, a time when people who are willing to stand up against the darkness are most needed. Men and women who want to uphold justice in the realms - brave individuals seeking to ease the burden of the weak and oppressed. I am an intermediary of sorts, who brings together such talented people. I believe you to be one.

To that end, I request that you join me to discuss an opportunity. I understand that your time is valuable, and though material wealth may not be your driving motivation, travels and exploits have their costs, and so, I am willing to compensate you for your time. Trust me when I say that your skills will be challenged, but in facing such trials, you may help many souls in need. If you deem willing to take up this charge, meet me in Proskur on the 15th day of Mirtul, at the Wretched Wench, just after the sun slips behind the mountains. When you arrive, tell the barkeep, Gedard, that you are the “Old Fool’s” guest.

I hope to see you on that day.

With Regards,

Aden Grimdawn

If you have read this far, thank you for your interest into this foray into the Forgotten Realms. This campaign will begin in 1373, the Year of Rogue Dragons (firmly amidst the material published during the 3rd / 3.5 edition of D&D). I am seeking a company of six brave souls to venture forth and face the darkest threats that Faerun has to offer. This game will have many faces throughout, from dungeon crawl to urban intrigue, and I encourage applying with heroic characters that are adaptable (and not singularly focused). Some level of stealth, deception, or subterfuge will benefit most characters.

Character Creation (Fluff):

Many people have their own ways they like to organize this section, and if you want to use a “10 Minute Background” or something similar, you are welcome to. If nothing else, I request you at least go with the traditional “Appearance, Personality, Background” 3-part approach. Please include in your Background the heroic deed of note that would have inspired Aden Grimdawn to recruit you.

Character Creation (Crunch):

While the setting will be the Forgotten Realms, a classic D&D campaign, we will be using the 1st edition of the Pathfinder rules by Paizo, with some notable house rules (see below).
Ability Scores 4d6, drop the lowest (you may reroll 2 d6 from the entire set; please specify which before using these rerolls). If you do not like your set, you have 18 points to spend on ability scores on a 1-to-1 basis (NOT pathfinder point buy). All stats base 10, you may reduce 1 score to a minimum of 7 for additional points.
Level 4th
Race Core races, plus planetouched (aasimar, tiefling, ifrit, oread, sylph, undine - the latter 4 represent the Genasi races of Faerun) are approved. If there is another race you are sincerely interested in, you are welcome to propose it with your character, so long as your concept and history are well developed.
Class Core, base, and hybrid classes published by Paizo. Barbarian, monk, and rogue can be classic or unchained; summoner must be unchained. Gunslinger is tentatively allowed (according to the limits of availability within Faerun - Lantan, Gnomes, worshippers of Gond). No Occult classes.
Alignment No evil. I will be very cautious in accepting a CN character.
Traits 2 traits, a third if you also select a drawback. Traits may be reskinned as appropriate.
Skills Background skills are in effect. Climb and Swim are replaced by Athletics (I saw this on another recruitment and really liked it as an option).
Feats “Elephant in the Room” feat tax rules are in effect.
Favored Class Bonus In addition to either +1 hit point or +1 skill point, you may elect any option regardless of race. (likewise poached from the above mentioned recruitment)
Starting Gear 7,200 gold, no more than 3,000 may be spent on a single item. We will not be using the Automatic Bonus Progression alternate rules.

I will tentatively say that recruitment will last until 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, January 31st, though may extend it to gather more prospective characters if the current problems with the Paizo site slow the application process.

Now that I have "covered everything", I am sure I will get a question regarding something I missed. So, onward adventurers, go carve your heroes from the stone and bring them forth!

Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 1) = 9 7
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 5) = 12 11
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 3) = 15 13
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 1) = 10 9
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 3) = 10 8
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 3) = 16 15

Reroll the 1 On 6th set: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Reroll the 2 on 3rd set: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Wow. . . so 7 11 13 9 8 15 . . . ok then!

Huzzah! Well met, saer!

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for some martial or roguish type.

Let me roll straight away!

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 3) = 15 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 2) = 11 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 6) = 19 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 4) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 5) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 1) = 7 6

I believe I'll opt to reroll the 9 and the *gulp* 6...

4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 1) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 5) = 11 10

Oh, I see I misunderstood the rerolls. I'll try again, from the same sets:

1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 2

Uh. A score of 6 seems a bit hardcore... I guess I'll go with the 18 point buy.

wanderer82 wrote:
@Storm Dragon while not a part of the core playable races of Faerun, lycanthropes are a common monstrous component. As such, Skinwalkers could be a conceivable option in the setting. That said, as you are requesting to deviated from the previously listed races, be sure to write a noteworthy background that ties into the mythology of the Realms and justifies it as a player character.

I'll do my best. I'm not really a Realms superfan so I don't know a whole lot about the setting beyond the basics/what's in novels, but I'll write a story to the best of my ability and hope it fits somewhere, which shouldn't be too hard given the kind of open-ended nature of the setting.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 6) = 19 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 2) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 2) = 20 18
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 2) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 2) = 11 9
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 4) = 11 9

I'll reroll a d6 each from those last 2 (the last 2s, specifically).

2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7

Final stats: 15 12 18 13 13 9, very workable for pretty much anything; any caster, anyway. Lots of odd numbers make me sad though lol.

Wow, first two applicants and the dice are looking rather cruel.... Hmmm.

I think I'm fine- my 15 becomes 17 CHA with the halfling boost, then +1 at 4th level gets me to 18 CHA for a Sorcerer, which is workable for everything else.

Does anyone have a good source (or at least the name of the book) for Faerun deities?

Also-- just to clarify- I plan to use Variant Multiclass cleric, if that's OK?

And Hit Points? Rolled? Half +1? (max 1st level I assume)

On the bright side, 18 PB 1:1 is pretty generous; it's roughly 25 normal point buy. I was thinking about taking it myself since a 16 14 14 14 10 10 works better for an Investigator, which is what I was thinking of playing.

I was reading along in your interest thread, I like the forgotten realms setting but haven't played a lot in it. But who can resist rolling stats right?

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 2) - 1 = 11
4d6 - 1 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 4) - 1 - 2 + 6 = 13
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 6) - 1 = 17
4d6 - 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 4) - 1 - 1 + 1 = 10
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 4) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 3) - 1 = 12

So lets reroll the 2 in the second set and the 1 in the fourth set.
1d6 ⇒ 6
1d6 ⇒ 1
Well, the second roll was a wash, the the first one helped...

I will probably go with a full BAB melee character, need to work on the backstory first, let me see what I can remember about the 'Forgotten Realms.'

oh dear, will definitely come up with something cool just need a day or two, busy weekend :(

Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 1) = 10 09
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 1) = 15 14
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 6) = 16 14

Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 1) = 15 14
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 2) = 6 05
WOW that is like a 7 point buy
Stat 6 Reroll: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9 11
So all in all I have a 13 point buy on this set.
18 points on a 1:1 it is.
Will adjust soon

What sort of god/goddess are you looking to follow?

Dieties

has a pretty extensive list, including the expanded racial dieties

The whole concept of this character is a CG Harper Halfling Unicorn Sorcereress who summons Unicorns, so it's gotta be CG, preferably with a link to unicorns and or female stuff.

Ability Score #1: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 6) = 18
Ability Score #2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 6) = 16
Ability Score #3: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 1) = 12
Ability Score #4: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 3) = 16
Ability Score #5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 2) = 6
Ability Score #6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 2) = 11

Replacement (1 in Set #5): 1d6 ⇒ 2
Replacement ( 2nd 1 in Set #5): 1d6 ⇒ 4

So.... 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 14. Looks like I'll go the assigned 18-point route.

You are looking for Mielikki or Lurue... Lurue is the actual unicorn goddess

Lurue

Scarab Sages

I will be looking into making an elven or half elven ranger perhaps mixed with rogue

Ability Score #1: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 2) = 12

Ability Score #2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 1) = 16

Ability Score #3: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 4) = 14

Ability Score #4: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 5) = 16

Ability Score #5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 2) = 12

Ability Score #6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 5) = 17

Lets see what we get...

So that's a 10, 15, 12, 14, 11, 15

I will spend my rerolls on
a)the 3ed die (the 1) in ability score #1
first reroll die: 1d6 ⇒ 3
b)the 3ed die (the 1) in ability score #5
second reroll die: 1d6 ⇒ 4

final results : 12 15 12 14 13 15

That's 21 pts by the modified point buy system, and I surely don't hate the results, but I need to find something pretty MAD...
Time to cogitate

Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 5) = 19 = 17
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 4) = 8 = 7
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 4) = 17 = 15
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 5) = 13 = 11
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 4) = 11 = 10
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 6) = 14 = 13

Reroll 1 from Stat 2: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Reroll second 1 from Stat 2: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Stat 2 changes from 7 to 12

So, final stats are: 17, 12, 15, 11, 10, 13
...which oddly enough, equals the 18 point build. Nice. :D

Edit: Seems Smooshie-Nana and I are both considering Arcanists, but mine is intended to be far more of a straight-up spellcaster. That's what I've been planning, at least. Might take a peek and see what other classes catch my eye.

What would you like "post rate" to be? One/day? A lot of people on here don't post much on weekends. Do you require weekend posts or is it as desired?

Roll: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 2) = 10
Roll: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 6) = 12
Roll: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 1) = 13
Roll: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 2) = 8
Roll: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 5) = 16
Roll: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 3) = 13
9, 11, 12, 7, 15, 12

Edit: For rerolls, I guess I'll use a reroll on a 1 on the second set of dice and a reroll on a 1 on the fourth set of dice.
Reroll 2nd set: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Reroll 4th: 1d6 ⇒ 2
So that's 9, 14, 12, 7, 15, 12
I am wanting to make a human arcanist shapechanger

Edit2: I think I'll go with the point buy.

Yep. Who can resist tossing dice?

Dice chucking:

4d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 6) - 2 = 15
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 3) - 2 = 12
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 4) - 3 = 12
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 2) - 1 = 9
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 5) - 1 = 15
4d6 - 1 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 1) - 1 + 5 - 2 = 14

Hmmmm . . ..

Reroll the 1 in set 4 and the 1 in set 6.

1d6 ⇒ 1 Wash.
1d6 ⇒ 5 Inserted.

So, 15, 15, 14, 12, 12, 9.

17 1 for 1 point buy. 22 point "traditional" point buy.

I'll see if I'm properly inspired. Very likely to add the 1 missing point for the 18 point 1 for 1 buy, but use the rolls to guide my choices.

With the feat tax in play are you allowing Piranha Strike to be counted into this mix? I have seen it both ways...

Proskur, interesting! IIRC thats the place just outside Cormyr with the thieves guild. Sounds like a good choice for a campaign location to me!

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 6) = 16 => 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 4) = 14 => 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 3) = 19 => 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 5) = 14 => 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 1) = 15 => 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 6) = 14 => 13

1d6 ⇒ 6 Reroll the 4 in the 3rd set to get an 18
1d6 ⇒ 5 Reroll the 2 in the 6th set to get a 16

Those stats are too high for my taste. Should I reroll or use the 18 point thing?

Oh boy! Rolling dice AND being heroic? Sign me up!
I'm going to go extra hardcore, and roll my stats in order. Helps me narrow down what to play :) Don't want to commit to not using my rerolls yet, but I will commit now to not using the point buy!

Str: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 2) = 15 13
Dex: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 2) = 18 16
Con: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 4) = 20 16
Int: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1) = 8 7
Wis: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 4) = 14 13
Cha: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 6) = 20 17

I am not going to be using my rerolls. Well with stats like those, looks like I could do anything really. Except be a wizard... Concept to follow, and I know that 7int paladin is maybe not the best choice.

Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 5) = 18 14
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 2) = 10 9
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 3) = 17 14
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 3) = 9 12
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 2) = 9 8
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 6) = 17 14

Reroll 2,3 and 4,3: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8

Yeah going 18 point buy for my Wizard.

Let's see now

Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 4) = 11 =10
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 4) = 11 =10 =12
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 2) = 10 =8
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 5) = 20 =16
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 6) = 14 =13
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 3) = 12 =11 =15

Reroll stat (2,3) 1d6 ⇒ 4
Reroll stat (6,1) 1d6 ⇒ 6

So making
10
12
8
16
13
15
or 14 custom point buy.
Any way you cut it, I'll take the 18 custom point buy.

Thinking about a modernization of a character I played in Living City. Core mechanics is a Fighter/Rogue two-weapon fighter who has the rogue for stealth type-stuff, mostly.

Character loved to run across the battlefield to opposing spellcasters and accept himself being the target for area effect spells, like Silence, 15' radius. Yeah, he tended to take lots and lots of damage. "So that others may live," right?

Can't just duplicate him, because the mechanics don't line up perfectly. That's okay. I think I'll have more fun trying to build that background again than I will with the mechanics.

Slayer fits pretty perfectly for this. Full BaB, Sneak Attack, stealth stuff. "Weapon Training" in the form of Studied Target. Ranger Combat Style Feats to make TWFing easier (you can get away with a lower Dex of 15 and still get all of the TWFing line), etc.

Then you can take some Teamwork Feats and by using the Vanguard archetype, give everyone else in the party Ally Shield or Improved Duck and Cover so they can share in your Evasion and "feed" damage to you rather than themselves.

You could also potentially just play a TWFing Paladin and just prepare a bunch of Paladin's Sacrifice spells. A number of Traits will give you Stealth as a class skill if that's all you wanted from Rogue.

Cool. Hadn't really looked at everything Paizo's got out. Just more of it than I want to look through, really.

As an anti-spellcaster mobility combatant, though, I like Disruptive and Spellbreaker, ya know? Those require Fighter, or one of the classes that say they count as fighter levels.

Leaves me needing to consider how closely I want to recreate and where I want to take him instead . . ..

I've always found that Step Up/Following Step, rather than Disruptive/Spellbreaker is the true mage killer, but they are certainly nice to have.

This looks like a chance to look into the setting AND roll some dice. So many ideas before even rolling!

Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 3) = 14
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 2) = 10
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 5) = 19
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 6) = 18
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 3) = 20
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 1) = 11

Oh wow. Guess I will reroll my snake eyes on six.

Rerolls: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6

That looks like:

12
8
16
16
17
12

That would be great for something pretty mad! I will have to spend some time on this tommorow!

Speaking of deities, what is an appropriate one to worship for a character concerned with law and justice? A quick search turns up Tyr and Amaunator, but neither quite fit (though the former more than the latter). An LG or LN deity a lawyer or guardsman might follow.

@GM: Would hunting down and bringing a notorious serial killer to justice suffice as a "heroic deed of note"?

Captain Generica here, representing a build I have wanted to do for an extremely long time, ever since I noticed that the morningstar was a swashbuckler legal weapon! Link to profile!
Other people, feel free to read through it and give me your thoughts! I love feedback, although I know my build is far from "optimal" I feel like it really fit the stats that I rolled.

Here is my arcanist build, Pelipe

I tried to take what information you gave and craft her toward the scenario. I also wanted to present a bit different arcanist build in both skills, feats, and abilities. If there is anything in there you want changed, let me know! I would love to play in this campaign.

Helm be one to look at, prolly. ;)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Variant Multiclass yes, players may opt for variant multiclass.

Hit Points Once a final group is selected, players will role at that point, with a minimum in place (tbd).

Deities Forgotten Realms Pantheon as of 3rd edition. If you can access a copy of the book “Faiths & Pantheons”, that will be the most accurate and complete source. DM me if you have further questions.

Cerilis yes, I consider Piranha Strike to simply be the agile “other side” of Power Attack.

Malinda it sounds like you are planning on using your rolled set rather than the 18 pt buy? You do realize that, before racial modifiers, your net bonus from your rolled ability scores is a +0. The 18 point set you can start with 10, 14, 14, 12, 10, 18 (final stats 8, 17, 14, 12, 10, 20). I like the concept but glancing through the build, it seems like you are battling the loop to get to something that would be much easier achieved by pursuing the Summoner class (especially where you can’t even summon a unicorn until 10th level). Your Eidelon could be a “unicorn”, and you build around summoning other Fey creatures as you progress in level until you get to the end game. Just some thoughts.

FangDragon build your character with the stats you currently rolled. If you are selected and are distinctly above the rest of the party, we can adjust your numbers accordingly at that point..

Storm Dragon I am not sure what resources you initially looked at (later editions altered his portfolio), but Tyr is the god of Law and Justice in the Forgotten Realms, and would be an absolute perfect fit. Another solid choice would be Helm, the god of Guardians and Watchers. A third option would be the lesser known demigod Hoar, the god of Retribution and Poetic Justice.

Toblacane a swashbuckler that uses a morningstar - that is awesome!

In particular, there's the First Worlder and Wild Caller archetypes of Summoner which get Summon Nature's Ally instead of the standard Summon Monster (which doesn't get any Fey summons IIRC).

4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 3) = 16 13

I''ll re-roll the lowest on the 15 and the 14.
2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

So that gives me 15, 15, 13, 13, 12, 11. I have some thoughts on a Bard/Monk singer.

Quick question, when you say "Traits may be reskinned as appropriate.", does that mean we can take Campaign Traits?

Ignore this, doesn't really matter anymore. Mostly completed sheet.

Basic character concept, to be fleshed out further: Born of a wererat clan in a major city (Waterdeep?) from a mother who wanted out of the clan's hierarchy. Grew up poor on the streets. Managed to get sponsored for an education and eventually became a doctor. Picked as an ME on several cases and develops working relationship with guard. Recently gained reputation as a crack investigator after helping to apprehend a notorious serial killer that had been plaguing the city for months.

So, summoning unicorns is the secondary effect of the build-

Unicorn Bloodline's main ability (the Arcana) is that each time you cast ANY spell you ALSO heal an ally within 30 ft. twice the spell level which is the real ultimate focus of the character--

So when I cast Cure Light Wounds (bloodline spell) I get to touch one ally and heal 1d8+level and then ALSO heal another ally, myself, or that same ally for 2 HP.

And then when I cast a 2nd level spell like Scorching Ray or Summon Monster II, I get to ALSO heal an ally 4 HP at the same time.

VMC Cleric will give me channel on top of that, so I think that it's going to come out to a pretty effective combat healer as an Arcane caster that still pushes out damage while healing.

Hrm. . . Yes, I suppose I should switch to the 18 point buy since it would be strictly net gain.

Can't resist the rolls...

4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 1) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 5) = 17 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 4) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 2) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 4) = 20 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 6) = 19 = 18

Re-rolling the 1 from first roll and the 2 from the third roll

2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

So that gets met to

11
15
12
14
16
18

Quite exceptional....No issue, if selected, dropping these down a bit to be inline with other player's rolls.

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 6) - 1 = 15
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 2) - 2 = 13
4d6 - 1 - 1 + 5 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 1) - 1 - 1 + 5 + 1 - 1 = 14
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 6) - 2 = 12
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 1) - 1 = 10
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 1) - 1 = 9

Replacing the 2 1s on the 3rd row: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6

Pretty terrible! I’ll go with the 18 point buy likely, or maybe try these just for the challenge. :)

There are a number of Arcane casters being rolled, so I'm working on a Human or Half-Elven Bard. (Just to make it on the list of applicants. :) )

OR

Question: Would you allow an Inspiring Commander archetype of the Cavalier? It's not mount-based, and is more or less a blend of Cavalier and Bard. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask. :)

Here's my unchained rogue Rajiv Rao, ready to perform heroic deeds!

I do have a question for you, GM:

Because Weapon Finesse has been removed with the Elephant in the Room rules, and in the spirit of those rules, would it be possible to rule that the unchained rogue's class ability Finesse Training can apply to all finesse weapons? And/or that another feat might be substituted for the one negated by the house rule (such as Dodge?)

Ain't wanderer82, but IIRC, there's a rule out there somewhere that says unchained rogue gets the Deft Maneuvers feat in place of Weapon Finesse.

This will be the nine's entrant just need to adjust some numbers and go over the wealth distributed.

background:
Cerian Brandonialle Screamingtrees was a young bounty hunter from the Dalelands who spent his youth tracking and capturing small time thieves. It was on a mission tracking down a human mercenary whom had stolen a bauble from an elven sculpter when he met the maid whom would change his life forever.

Allana Brandonialle was a young half elven bard, a traveling songstress that travelled from dale to dale, she quickly discovered that quiet aloof elven tracker who always seemed to 'just have' signed up to travel the same way she was heading. He hardly tried to speak to her, anytime there was a chance he seemed to stiffen up. She thought it kinda cute after awhile, especially because she was positive he was attracted to her. A trip through Battledale saw her win ownership of a tavern in Essembra the capitol of Battlesdale.

He was completely surprised when that same night she asked if he planned on staying put too, adding "that if he was going to hang about, he might as well accept her hand in marraige since he seemed so keen to watch over her." In the end, he did. The years were good and kind to them, they had children, those children grew. When drow infiltrating Cormanthor invaded Battledale, he was amongst the defenders. He returned home to devastating news. His beloved wife Allana was slain by a desperate thief fleeing justice in Sembia.

He left the tavern to their eldest daughter chasing the man...four years ago he caught him and served justice. He had hoped that it would help ease the pain . . . it has but only slightly. Everytime he started to head home, grief and pain would start to fill him, so he has just wandered ever since. He takes jobs to earn coin when he needs it, tends torwards the helping of the weak and innocent over others. Someday, someday he will return to his adult children in Battledale, just not today.

Before going down a rabbit hole I wanted to ask @wanderer82 about this:

I am thinking of making a armored hulk barbarian. Peeked into Proskur and learned they had dealings with red wizards (Also, near two mountain ranges.) at some point. That set me thinking about protectors of the red. That put a story idea in my head for a manager training an exiled barbarian youth to be a self-styled protector wannabe. Then things go badly, as it's a bad idea to ape the style of such people, and the kid survives a horrible ambush despite all odds.

Kind of a second chance mentor story with tragedy and triumph. Would something like that fit?

Thinking auspicious mark and overbearing advance would make a nice combo with an armored hulk.
