Appearance/DC 15 local:
Description: You see before you, the quinticential swashbuckler. Fancy hat with a feather in it, nice, but somewhat worn down clothes, and a grin that goes from ear to ear. The only thing off about this dashing orc is their choice of weapon. You see, Toblacane's prefered weapon of choice is the morningstar, which he whips about with narry a care for who's eye he might put out. Even more shocking is that it seems to work, being able to completely parry and even somehow riposte with the unweildy thing. Standing about 5'6", with shoulder length brown hair, and brown eyes, this fellow is quick to greet you with a warm handshake, a pat on the back, and a stiff drink, provided you've got the time to listen to him ramble. A drinker, a braggart, a self perceived ladies man, never one to forget a favor, and surprisingly good at making sure his debts are paid on time.

background:

Two men circle each other in the street. One appears to be a thuggish type, a sneering lout, probably none too bright. The other wears bright red clothing, with a cloak and swashbuckler's hat. His greenish skin indicates orcish blood, but his stance and fine boots indicate some sort of fencer. The thug roars, lunging forward, a knife springing into his hand. There is the sound of metal on metal, and you can see that the mysterious red-cloaked figure has blocked the knife, inches from his throat. What is surprising though is that instead of using a rapier, or even a blade at all, the man stands holding a morningstar. With a quick flourish, the man raps the thug on the knuckles with his weapon, and turns his back, walking away. There is cheering from the gathered crowd, and a few coins are tossed, presumably by those who thought this was some sort of performance.

Toblacane's real name is not Toblacane. Both of his parents were both half orcs, living in a human society, and wished for their son to integrate even further, raising him as a human, and giving him a human name, although what that name was, he refuses to share. His mother raised him on tales of great fighters, who could dodge and parry with great ease. These stories stuck with the young half orc, and he sought to one day be emulate the heroes of his mother's stories. However, Toblacane was and still isn't the brightest lad, and somewhere in the stylish asthetics, he got a little mixed up. He knew that the fancy hat and boots were neccicary, but what about the weapon? Toblacane, who had recently left his home to make his fortune (much to the trepidation of his parents) couldn't quite remember what they were supposed to use. So he just did what came naturally to him, and that was grabbing a morningstar, and trying to fence with it. Against all the odds, it worked.

Toblacane has gone on several adventures, and some of them haven't even gone terribly! His father, determined to make sure that Toblacane had a good education had gotten him tutored in several different languages, but alas, he could only speak them, being unable or unwilling to read. Nevertheless, he has taken on several translating jobs, due to his fluency in several useful languages. He delights in aiding what he interprets as being the meek, and will come to the aid of anyone who asks him. This has lead to him fighting many bandits, and on one notible occasion, being part of a group that took down a hydra. Toblacane's skills there were incredibly useful, as despite his lackluster intellect, when told that the heads regenerated, he merely responded that, "I'll hit it in the body then I guess!" He has accumulated a smattering of magical gear from the work that he has done, but he feels it is time to move on to bigger and better adventures, seeking to strike feat into the hearts of even more evil-doers, and to protect the meek as a true hero of the people.

Note: Despite the fact that Toblacane cannot read or write, he often dictates letters to be delivered to his parents house detailing his exploits. Most recently when he returned home, his mother had made for him a beautiful red hat, which he promptly got enchanted as quickly as possible to repel dirt.
