*First off, I am very flexible in how you build your characters. If you're unsure about something, just ask here or via PM.
*A nat 1 on a skill check is NOT an automatic failure. However, I do reserve the right to poke a little fun in your character's direction when you do so.
*Speaking of, nat 1s in combat, whether by you or one of my NPC's/enemies, will feel the blow of my Fumble Deck! On the flip side, Crits will also take a visit to my Critical Deck. I use them both pretty regularly (but not all the time).
*Perception is considered a class skill in my campaigns: If you have taken the skill and did not apply the +3 modifier, do so to your character. Logically, it ought to be a class skill for everyone; you perceive the universe. About the only way to not take this as a class skill would be for me to lob off your tongue, nose, ears, and hands. Not much fun to play after that, in my opinion.
*Max hit points at every level beyond 1.
*Anything else, we will cover as we go.
To everyone that was invited: I wold like to start the campaign off sometime Thursday, as my work schedule permits. Will everyone be okay with that, or does someone need more time?
Obviously, Eidolon's don't have racial favored class bonuses. I was wondering if you'd be ok with me using the half-elf FC bonus (+1/4 evolution point to evolution pool), or alternately given his background, the Aasimar FC bonus (+1/Evil DR, +1/2 per additional level, max 10/Evil).

Reporting in!
Can we get a campaign thread to dot? (Pro tip for everyone- If you post in a gameplay thread, and then delete the post, the site still tracks the post so the game will attach to your Campaigns tab without uglying up the thread with a random dot post)
GM can you add your house rules to the campaign tab for ease of reference?
HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9
GM, other players, what do you all think of doing tome backround integration to tie some of us closer together before the game starts?
For instance, I can easily see Shi'Vatha having been found by Vedic after the eidolon's escape from it's former master. Vedic is the sort to be poking around in odd places, and Shi'Vatha would probably need a guide back to the church, or at least someone to pose as a summoner so the eidolon wasn't seen as an unfettered threat.
(The idea of pretending to be a summoner amuses me)
I'm totally cool with you guys weaving your backstories together so that you know each other some more. If you want to roleplay it in the gaming thread, it is now open for you guys.
Sure, I'm fine with that. Shi would need something to act as cover. You'd end up having to do prestidigitation regularly to fake the symbol on your forehead.
HP 8/8, AC 14, Fort +1, Ref, +2, Will +3, Per +7, Change Energy 9/9
That's not a problem. Prestidigitation is a spell I use a lot anyway. Arcane Mark would work too if I made my mark fairly close to yours, or superimposed them. Anyone without Knowledge Arcana wouldn't even get a roll. Anyone with Knowledge Aracana would have to have Detect magic up, and make a spellcraft check to recognize the actual spell effect before they could roll a knowledge check to see if they could figure out what was going on. :)
I just wanted to briefly introduce myself to everyone. I'm Corian, and I'll be your NPC for this flight. Please make sure that your tables and trays are in an upright position, as we'll be landing in Reme sometime soon. And thank you for flying Wild Ride Airlines!!
Just to let everyone know, I am currently working on creating a campaign wiki, using Obsidian Portal. I've never had the chance to do more than tinker with various bits before, but I am hoping to at least have a skeleton up for you guys to see and log into within the next day or so. How much I get done will depend in large part how much I can accomplish tonight, and also whether or not I have to attend the weekly managers meeting tomorrow.
I'll let you know, via link, when it is ready to look at.
I think that both of you will work fine, nothing like a little overlap to help the party survive and all.
Also, I have a skeleton of a campaign wiki up on Obsidian Portal. If you'll send me either your email addy or your Portal name via PM, I can send you an invite to setup your characters and start writing entries. I'm hoping that I'm not the only one that is into chronicling his or her own adventures.
Finally, no managers meeting today!! Hooray for me :) I'm going to fiddle around with the wiki a bit more and then I might make a first post in the Gameplay thread a little early to get things started.
So I have a question for everyone: Has anyone used Roll20 yet? I'm curious about it as a way to create combat maps for this campaign, but I'm wondering how hard it is to set everything up. Is Flash required to use? I ask that because the bulk of my postings and work on the campaign are being done on my iPad mini (both at home and the office), and while I have a desktop that I can use, I only have access to it in the evenings (and weekends), and I am usually trading off with my wife to use it.
Just to let you all know, I was travelling heavily 10/27 to 10/29, I'll be catching up on 10/30
Human GM
I have, but I find it cumbersome. I find Google Draw works very well for maps (if you look on my campaign tab, at anything I'm GM'ing, you can find some links to maps on google draw) and isn't all that cumbersome. There's some things that Roll20 does that google draw doesn't (obviously), but usually I don't need most of the things they have.
I've played in games that used either Roll20 or Google Drive (as well as some that just use imgur or whatver image site it is).
I can't access Roll20 at work and they don't seem to have a mobile version, so I wouldn't be able to use it very often (I don't get time to use the computer at home all too often).
I can't access Google Drive at work (I'm not actually sure why, since it's a useful tool for collaboration), but I do have an app for that, which is where I go for such things.
OK that is the kind of response that I was looking for. Not being able to use it from work is a deal breaker for me. I'll give Google Draw a look, although I don't know how friendly it is with Apple.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have Google Drive and Chrome as apps on my mini.

They didn't have any grippli avatars... I don't know whether Erastil is around in this world (if not, I can change this), but Glornug is a ranger following Erastil, so I used Erastil as my avatar.

If not, that's fine, I'll take a skill point. :)
Hi GM,
Can I please get an answer one way or the other?
Since you are more of a unique creature at this point, whose 'creator' is no longer in a position to claim you (at least, not at this point), I'm willing to allow you the half-elf bonus, so that you can continue to evolve over time.
Well, he'd still get more evolution pool as he levels up (3, 4, 5, 7, 8, etc). But this would let him get a bit more than normal (up to 4 extra points at level 20). Thanks.

Sorry for the absence over the last two days folks. Work has been extra work-y.
It's going to happen off and on for the next three weeks, so please bot me as needed. Don't wait on me, please. When in doubt, assume I follow along with whatever Shi'vatha thinks his best. He has a more refined moral compass than Vedic does anyway.
Not a problem Vedic. I'm making some allowances for the holiday, but if I haven't heard from you by tomorrow, then we'll just make sure that you were the first to 'volunteer' to run into the room filled with orcs...with just a loincloth...and a butter knife. You were really brave!!! :P
Sorry. I got a little busy the past couple of days. Is the combat occurring near camp and is Selene aware of it now?
Not a problem. It is occurring near the camp (Glornug heard the noise about 10' away and found the two creatures). Selene is definitely aware of it. So far, Felicity is proecting Corian, and the others have moved in for the kill. You can jump in for Round 3 (or Round 2 with an Init count of 1) if you wish.
As I've posted multiple times, Shi'Vatha isn't getting into the fight, he's taking up a position on the opposite side of camp from it, in case there's a diversion going on to attack the camp.

Shi'Vatha, I was only asking if anyone was going to say or do anything before I continued on. When I wrote my last post, only Glornug had posted, and that was Friday morning. I wasn't trying to get anyone upset by my remarks.
Wasn't upset. :) Sorry, text doesn't really convey tone. :)
If it came off as upset, that was probably more due to exhaustion, been building a 8ft x 4ft by 2ft planting bed for my mother out of about 300 lbs of wood. :) My back hurts, my muscles ache, and I've had a migraine all weekend. :)
I will be on vacation starting tomorrow. I won't be posting much until next Wednesday. My daughter is graduating and we are taking her to the beach and camping.
I am reopening the recruitment thread to invite people to join our ranks. For various reasons, we've had several people have to leave the game and we are looking to replace them. I am looking for 4-6 players to jump in, as orcs have sacked the town that the group had just reached.
Feel free to ask questions, I'll be here all week.
I would be really interested in joining your ranks - I am a big fan of LM as a GM, and a definite sucker for Frog God Games (Rappan Athuk and Tsar rank HIGH in my 'wanna play' list, though I never managed to join a game that took it far and beyond), so I'm just going to throw my hat in the ring.
I've got a concept in mind, but I'll just shamelessly say I would like to maximize my chances to get in this game, so I will ask what, if any, roles the group would be looking for ;)

Well I have to say that you've made my day to read that. I do get compliments from time to time, but not someone ranked so highly in Paizo organized play.
That being said, right now, we have a magister, a summoner, and a 'unique' creature playing. We are at level 2 at this point, and just finished a little quest. The PC's have found out that the nearby town has been sacked by orcs, and that their hideout appears to be the same location that their 'Mr. Johnson' wanted to be taken to.
I should also give you fair warning: both of my PbP groups have reported issues with posting over the last few weeks. Patience will be a virtue in this game, both in character and ooc.
Playstyles are open at this point. We are android heavy, but it is more for flavor than anything Iron Gods/Numeria related. Let me know what you are thinking, and I'll tell you how well it will fit.
Working at the moment, but I have a couple ideas whirling around in my head, so I'll just thrown the abridged version in to keep the ball rolling. Since the group seems to have the arcane pretty well covered, I've thought:
First one is a Cleric/ranger archer focused - a woodsman, rugged adventurer, preaching through the tip of his arrows against the unnatural forces that threaten the natural world. I picture him as a loner of sorts, with an inherently 'good' bent. He does the right thing, but on his terms. Crunch wise, this is an Evangelist Cleric (who wants 'Inspire Courage'?), archery based, with a scout/infiltration/tracking skill set. Most likely leaning on the feather domain (I like Animal Companions). He won't be the strongest of healers, but can do so half decently with a good choice of spells.
The second one is just the epitome of RPG [for me at least :D] - a dwarven fighter. Yep, there it is - a nasty tempered, courageous, battered warrior. It is hard to get on his good graces, but once you do, he'll take whatever beating for ye. Mechanics wise, I am looking at a Fighter, but may throw something else in the mix (Ranger, or maybe Barbarian, or maybe a Tactician Archetype), because I simply can't live with 2+Int skills per level...
Just some stuff to bounce off you guys.
P.S. I am not highly ranked in Paizo organized play ;)
Either would work, although I'd say we do need a healer. Right now, our summoners can heal Shi'Vatha, which is good, since if he dies he can't be resurrected.
Beyond that, either would work, and we do also need a tank.
Classes: Paizo + PFSRD. I like some steampunk dunked into my fantasy, so to get the questions out of the way: Yes, Machinesmith and Tinkerers are allowed. So will anything from the Numeria sourcebooks be allowed as they become available. If I can find it on the PFSRD website, then it will be allowed. That means that the Theurge class from the New Paths Compendium is unfortunately out, but everything else from that book is okay.
Appears they are allowed, they are on both Paizo and PFSRD. Only gunslingers were outlawed.

Hey this is Spazmodeus.
If you need a front-liner, I got quite attached to Kevezyat during her sojourn in DM Grimmy's Lost Lands campaign.
If you'd permit Lord Manticore, I could bring her back to 2nd level and whatever adjustments to statisfy your character creation guidelines.

Oh, that ought to be interesting. Shi's thoughts on Paladins are not for polite company. :)

Oh yeah, you and Shi will get along quite well, I think. In my campaign, drow don't have the immediate racial discrimination that they would normally have on Golarion. That being said, go ahead and roll it back to 2nd and we'll take a look at it.
Okay, here goes: A Wild Child brawler who didn't really fit in with the rest of his tribe in the Northlands (reasons will be explained in PM), and developed a bond with a snow tiger.
Locke is smart for a bruiser from da north, but has had a hard time dealing with people in civilized lands. He goes against a lot of stereotypes from the North (he doesn't drink, is rather quiet, and prefers to resolves conflict peacefully), and he and his traveling companion are currently wandering the Lands, helping when people need help.

Yeeesss...
This might be fun.
Are you sure that you ans Shi'Vatha aren't related? :p
Shi'Vatha is a LG outsider who plays against type. He has a well developed sense of humor, get's along fairly well with all types, humanoids or monsters, and isn't particularly fond of Paladins. He's also a clergymember in good standing of the church. :)
Still here - weekends are always complicated for me with family running all over the place.
Also, I think I've finally settled on what I want to play - an Inquisitor with a dark mood and an even darker bent. I have the details of his background in my head - a sad story of vengeance and pain :D
Will only be able to have crunchy details tonight, but I'm planning on going for ranged support and attacks - maybe a stealth guy striking from the shadows.
How are we on the scouting front?
Domains and deities, I am leaning heavily towards the Heresy Inquisition (it seems as dark as can be). As far as domains go, I hesitate.
Inquisitors can double as face also - is the group already outfitted on that front?
Didn't manage to crunch the character last night LM - got home wasted and crashed. Today will be the day! I could probably do it during the day, if I could find a decent character creator online. Or if I go 'classic' style and do it on a Word file :D
Nonetheless, I will be dropping some background lines as I go - do we have any details on deities? I am thinking along the lines of Retribution/Vengeance/Roghteousness.
MMM this looks like it would be a fun game to play. What would you think of and Aasimar Oracle (Purifier). With the Wolfscarred Face curse to show his Hound Archon Heritage
This does look interesting to play!
So reading what you have written over the last few hundred gameplay posts (babysitting a cub, finding 500lbs of coin, defeating a ork scout party, the town getting ransacked) i think i have an idea of what i would want to play, and an in :)
In the aftermath of the Orc raid you find a smashed but heavilly locked crate near some of the orc detruis. Inside is a bundle of chain, rope, locks, more chain, alchemists glue and more locks. It must be something impressive for it to be so nailed down...
But inside is a goblin rogue (enter my character)!
I would like to create a very dextrious rogue with a very solid focus on dexterity (so things like acrobatics, esxape artist and disable divice, hence all the rope and chain needed to keep him down) and engineering and ekectrical knowledge. The little guy (probably going to call him Bosh) has an absolute facination with anything mechanical, locks, traps, wagon wheels, and especially golems. Bosh is just enthralled with the idea of golems, giant magical contraptions of steel and machienery. (since there is an android in the party, he would be particularly enchanted with you ^_^)
On the plus side he is very good at dealing with traps and locked doors (you guys are about to go into a keep right?) and being a small goblin he is also good at sneaking around, but not so good at direct combat :)
As i flesh him out he will probablh be better at other things too :)

What race do you plan to take? I can see the purifer archetype; in the long game, it might come in handy for the party. But I thought that Wolfscarred was specific to race?

How familiar are you with the deity set from Frog God Games? Those are the primary deities in the game; although I'm willing to accept Golarion gods as secondary or tertiary gods (i.e. minor or even 'cult' worship).
LOL on character creation. I'll accept HeroLab, Word, and Google docs, so long as there is a link in your avatar's profile that I can refer to.

I assume you mean 'electrical engineering'?

I kinda like the idea, and perhaps how to put you into the campaign itself. Send me some crunch and I'll give it some thought. As far as knowledge though, I'm not planning to do much with the Numeria/Technology Guide stuff in this campaign, beyond having androids. The androids are our 'mystery' factor that may or may not ever get solved within the confines of the campaign.
Lol! Thats me trying to talk when im super tired :) it was supposed to be electrical knowledge or something of the sort, but i realize thatshould be K arcana.
As far as how advanced things are, hes more intrested in wagon wheels and door knobs and hinges (and if your not careful you might have a hole in the side of your house where a door used to be =^^=) and mechanical traps and things of that nature while things like constructs or androids would be the epitomie of advanced mechanical geekieness. kind of like a modern day mechanic finding a warp powered spacecraft: "Ooh! It flies and look! Theres indoor heating and tbat pannel has flashing LIGHTS! How does it do that??" kind of thing, nevermind it is warp powered, its service droid responds to voice commands!
No matter the tech level Bosh will be perfectly happy taking something apart :)
I am not terribly familiar with the deity set from Frog God Games :P
Would you point me in the right direction?
I wish that there was a document that I could link you to, but unfortunately, there is nothing off the top of my head that I can think of. And for some reason, my mind is drawing a blank atm. When I can remember some of them, I'll let you know.

OK, I've taken a look at it, and I have a couple of things:
1) You need to bring Vorg up to Level 2. Everyone in the party is nearly halfway to level 3 at this point.
2)I noticed that you are carrying a medium load, under normal circumstances. It might be a factor, as we'll be doing some traveling over time. Just an FYI, as I don't typically deal with weight in my campaigns (there's enough detailing on the car as it is :p).

After the crunchy bits (working on an update at the moment), now for some fluffy bits.
What was, and what is:
Aldaren left the library satisfied - the book's heavy weight under his arms made him smile, in anticipation of an evening well spent with Gallian. In spite of him being several years older than her (a testimony to his ancestry), they had found mutual ground in their curiosity about all things in this world. They both felt satisfaction in those shared moments ever since he took her into his fold, nothing more than an orphan on the streets.
Through shared stories he had taught her the lessons of life that spanned far beyond the small village of Riverwater, while himself learning about teaching a child how to become a woman. Someone had once called him a renaissance man - he had no idea what it meant and it really didn't mattered much, and even though no one knew much about Alderan's past, there was no denying that his focus was on Gallian, his protection overwhelming at times but clearly well intentioned.
Greeting most he came across with an educated, discreet smile, his façade easily broke down while crossing the threshold of the humble but well kept two storied dwelling, as the childrens arms hugged tight around the strong Aasimar's waist - "Alderan, I have caught apples for our dinner as we agreed - you brought stories?"
--
He shook it all away, while retrieving the arrow from the orc skull - his side ached from the mad dash through the tunnels, eyes stinging from sweat and grime, knee bruised from a club hit and the walls closing in all around him - ”They went down the left tunnel” - he could hear the voice very far away, even though the warrior was mere yards from him - ”Can you hear me Alderan?! Lets go!” - the last words, shouted almost as a command brought a low snarl from the Aasimar.
Turning around, he cleared the messy gore from his arrow as best as he could, much like he cleared his mind from pleasant thoughts that would get him distracted and dead in that hole - ’Gallian’ - the thought insisted on lingering as he started moving point again, crouching down to evaluate the tracks left by the fleeing critters, studying them, focusing on the recent pain from his bruises, to keep the ancient ones at bay - ”Why are we chasing these wretches again?” - came the melodic elven voice from behind him, the arcane master always pragmatic, always rational.
”It is not them we chase, but their mistress” - Alderan spoke without lifting his eyes from the ground, the bluntness of rationality allowing him some respite from emotional digressions - ”We are here to question, and then kill her, just in case you don’t remember” - he added, moving into the darkness, scouting ahead of the group. Yes… She would know… She had to know something… The monster who destroyed his life carried the mark of her coven, and even though years had passed, the coterie long gone, she had survived - he would make her talk, and then kill her like the aberration she was.
Books did not comfort him anymore, but those thoughts did, so he held onto them as tight as he could - he hated, so he would not suffer.
